Cyprus Thayne

Rider || Female || Mentions: Melinoe, Geneviève

As the first tremors of explosions started to ring through the academy, Cyprus was slumped over her desk, drooling on the papers scattered over its surface. When everyone had been sent to bed, Cyprus had way too much on her mind to even attempt to sleep. She had tried to go through her usual ritual; pulling back the sheets, tucking her stuffed dragon in his place next to the pillow (she didn’t care that people told her it was childish, she always slept with Falkor) and changing into her night clothes. When that inevitably didn’t work, Cy took to her desk, alternating between sketching Melinoe from memory to jotting down notes from her classes to weaving the bright strands of the bracelet she was currently working on together. She hoped she wasn’t disturbing her roommate, but she needed to keep her hands moving to calm her mind. Sure enough, it had worked, and Cyprus had nodded off not much later, her fingers tangled in colorful bracelet strings.

Finally as the explosions drew closer, Cyprus lifted her head and looked around with bleary eyes, the small piece of paper stuck to her cheek going unnoticed. She barely had time to notice the bright flashes coming from the window before her before a resounding BOOM shattered her eardrums and rattled her bones. Cy startled clumsily to her feet, only to be thrown off them just as quickly as her window blasted inwards.

She must have blacked out for a few moments, because when Cyprus came to again, all she could see was red. Sound was muffled, save for the incessant ringing in her ears, drowning out everything. Sluggishly dragging her arms underneath her, Cyprus pushed herself upwards, swaying unsteadily when her head spun. She blinked rapidly, dazed eyes sweeping over her wrecked room. She sat there for what felt like ages. Suddenly, sound swarmed back into her ears, and Cyprus jolted with shock as everything caught up to her at once.

Ignoring the pounding in her head, Cyprus shoved to her feet. “Geneviève!” She shouted into the din, feeling something warm run down her face and into her eye. She absently wiped it away, vaguely recognizing it as blood. “Genie-Gene!” She called to her roomate again as she began staggering around the room, growing more steady with each step. Cyprus started snatching the first things she saw. Shouldering on her leather vest, shoving on her boots, stuffing her bag with the first clothes she saw, riding gear, her med kit, the half-eaten bag of snacks on the desk, Falkor the stuffed dragon. Whatever she could see and fit into her bag was shoveled in. “You gotta get up, Geneiffer! We need to get outta here, I don’t know what’s happening but it’s not good!” Cyprus called her roommate by whatever funky variations of her name that came to mind, not really caring if Geneviève got mad, because if she had the energy enough to be annoyed that meant she was alive and conscious and hopefully getting ready to run the hell out of there with her. She’d apologize later if they lived long enough.

Swinging the overstuffed canvas bag over her shoulders, Cyprus added the finishing touches to her mismatched ensemble of sleepwear and leather; her whip, and her throwing knives. She tucked the knives everywhere, but kept her whip in hand. “Okay friend, are you good?” The faint shouts of others in the building and the hallway bolstered Cyprus’s spirits, encouraging her knowing that others had survived. Wiping at the blood still dripping down her face, she looked around for her roommate. “Sounds like some others are moving, we better group up with them and see what the hell’s happening.” Cyprus shifted her weight from foot to foot anxiously, thoughts going out to Melinoe. She was desperate to know if she was okay. From the way things sounded outside, Cyprus was willing to bet that the entire academy was in chaos.

Xevioso

Storm Dragon | Male | 250 | Mentions : K'issuk & Scirocco

The young dragon felt a bit childish as he was scoffed at and the obvious stated, but the dragoness spoke the truth. They needed to move and rather quickly or else more tragedy could strike . When K'issuk motioned for him to blast them out of there he was prepared to do so but another voice caught his ear. Another dragon, Scirocco - an ice dragon. And she bore news of it being and attack. And he huffed a bit, angered by this news but he took in K'issuks state and knew he needed to make this quick. He unfurled his second set of winds and stood in front of the two females and used his large wings to shield their sight. He needed to as his breath wasn't particularly normal compared to fire. "This will be very bright so cover your eyes," he instructed the two as he turned to the blocked exit. This needed to be a very clean shot . He needed fo make this count. And so he focused his energy on a large concentrated blast that could pierce through this rock. He opened his may, and the sounds of static charge could be heard see growing louder as he frills buzzed with the electric energy of his blast. And the orb of light in his mouth grew brighter and bigger until .

BOOM

CRACK

A loud and resounding thud could be heard as a remaining heavy stone fell. The soft clicking noises of falling rocks and debris made him shake his head and wings a bit, after folding them back up he made sure the other two were alright. As he took in the sight, the smell of smoke and fire filtered into his nose causing a slight growl to erupt at the scent. The huh of the static energy left behind after his blast, smoke softly billowing from his mouth as he cautiously emerged from their position. It seemed there was no one out to greet them for this . Now that he was out of the caverns it meant that he could warn his rider. Henry, it's Xevioso, be cautious - I'm sure you already know and are dealing with the attack. The enemy bombed the Keep and blocked us dragons in. I hope you're alright and I pray you stay safe, little one . Just hang tight for me please. He said through the link. He then looked at Seiro saying, " We need to get to the Western Keep and free the others. But we also need to get K'issuk to the Lunar Dragon for healing. It's risky but we need to get the others freed quickly as possibly . Also I have an idea, " he said looking to the superiors .

" The school is burning , which is a hazard and danger. If we can get the fire out while saving our fellow dragons we beat two birds with one stone. I could create a downpour to douse the flames but said flames are riding the air of moisture and heat. But if we had ice, I could use the what in the air to melt it and turn it into steam which can turn into clouds and the bigger the clouds - the heavier the rain I could make. And with the rain we could cause a delay for our foes and distract them. " he looks to the two hopeful that his plan didn't sound far fetched nor too insane .

Jasper Sterling
Rider // Female // M: Maze, Sedna, Fergus, and Peter

Some ringing, from what Jasper could tell, was from a little bell. It rung inside her head, making her believe she was going deaf. Luckily for Jasper, it was clear that her eardrums were not preparing to burst, for Maze seemed hear as well. She squinted towards the obnoxious noise, only to hear her named called by a male voice.
Sedna seemed to be pulling a terrified version of Fergus, across the ruined hall.

"Are y'all alright?" She asked staring them down.
From what she could tell, none of them seemed hurt. Well, not counting Maze who now had a small puddle of blood, sitting on the ground. She watched her blood trickle down making the puddle just ever so slightly bigger, with each drop.

Sedna broke her focus and asked the question she herself was trying to figure out. Jasper stared blankly at the ground thinking about how nice it would be to get out of this stuffy hallway, but she just couldn't leave and possibly let any survivors die.

Her head than perked into the direction of the ringing, "I-" she was cut off by some awkward squeal.
The woman looked back at Sedna before recklessly running towards the noise.
Stupid stupid stupid, why am I doing this? The closer she got to the noise, the thicker the dust was. She coughed desperately searching for anyone. Rocks grazed against her legs, as she finally made her way into a dorm room.

"Hello?" She called with a voice crack, inching closer to ringing.

A mattress layed on the ground and rusty red hair stuck out from underneath it. She got down covering her head with her arms, looking to find Peter wrapped up in blankets.

Kaia Seelen
Squad Leader | Male | Mentions: K'issuk, Henry, Others Ind

The explosions in the distance pulled the man from his slumber, slowly and leisurly. A yawn escaped him, and he sat up slowly, grumbling to himself quietly. He blinked, only to find the room was as dark as it was when he'd gone to sleep, meaning it was still night. Was it a storm? No, he'd hear and smell the rain if it was a storm. But if not a storm, then what-

K'issuk's message reached him.

Kaia felt his stomach drop a moment before the whole room seemed to explode, and he had only half the mind to roll off of his bed and under it, hoping to protect himself from most of the debris. Pieces still managed to get into his bare back, arms and chest, bruises and an array of cuts going ignored on his skin, and the blast had him shifting forward, ducking his head and smashing the curve of his back into the wall in front of his bed. Actually, had it been the blast, or had the world shifted on its axis? His back felt sticky with blood, and, if he'd cared enough to check, he would have felt practically shredded skin on parts of his back and cuts on his shoulders and arms. Kaia, however, did not.

"Henry!" He yelled as soon as the blast seemed to be over, scrambling out from under his bed and racing around the room. Who knew when the next would be? He grabbed shoes and a shirt, ignoring the fabric rubbing against the 'minor' wounds, leaving spots of blood over it. "Henry, we have to go!" He yelled, panic welling up in his chest. He couldn't breathe, he couldn't see, it was like the whole room was-

Demolished. The entire dorm for experienced riders was demolished. There was no roof, barely enough path to get out of the collapsed dorm, and Kaia felt his stomach drop down to his toes when he saw that the attack had moved onto the new riders dorm. His squad. Sedna.

'K'issuk,' he said into the bond with his dragon. 'I'm alive, the dorms were attacked too, the experienced dorms are completely destroyed, the attack has moved to the new riders.' His chest rose and fell quickly, before he turned to look at Henry. 'I don't know who's alive and who isn't. Henry is with me, I haven't seen anyone else yet. I'm going to go into the new riders dorms and find anyone I can.'

"Henry," he said, crouching low as he heard another explosion hit somewhere. "Our dorms have been destroyed, we're being attacked, I'm going to go check on the new riders and our siblings. You can come with me if you want, otherwise get out and keep them calm once they start to find their ways out."

He turned towards his pack, which was filled with honestly an questionable amount of waterskins and a few of his weapons, grabbing it and slinging it over his back. "I'm going to find anyone I can, I don't know who out of our group or friends survived. I don't know if the other dragons are okay, you need to check with Xevioso, K'issuk checked in with me."

And, with that, and without properly checking to see if Henry was following him, Kaia began to pick his way across the debris-covered ground and tried to work his way towards the new riders half-destroyed dorm, doing his best to stay out of sight of anyone, especially the apparent attackers.

Kitisho

Male Seer Dragon || Rider: Skaista || M: Rhydor, Slightly Desmodus
~
Kitisho trotted over to the exit with a serious look on his face, not even noticing the storm dragon, or the dark dragon right next to it. He stood, staring at a rock blocking their original exit. Not even a slit or a crack was left that they could squeeze out with. How did this even happen like- who did this? He huffed before scraping his claws on the ground, trying to think of what he could possibly do to get rid of this rock. Oh! I have an idea! A great great very great idea! Now, let's kick the rock! He spun around bucking the air as he spun before smashing his hind paws into the rock. Nothing was damaged other than his foot.
Hmm what next could I do?
Aha!
I'll do the opposite of what I did before!
Kitisho ran over to the other end of the wall, scraping his claws on the floor before ramming his head into it again. Ouch, that's gonna leave one bad headache! He growled in fury before scratching the rock and roaring at it. Only a pebble came out from the scratching. Growling in fury, he trotted around in a few circles before stopping to face the rock.
I'll push him outta the way.
Kitisho charged at the rock, snarling before trying to shove it with his shoulder. Nothing, only another ache for later. He sighed, defeated, this rock was unmoved after all of that. We're all gonna die down here, aren't we? He sighed again and walked away back to his stall. I'm totally useless.
Kitisho turned around and angled his horns so that they would jam into the rock. He scraped his claws against the ground before charging.
But when he charged was when he noticed the other dragons.
He gasped in surprise and started skidding to a stop, but almost barely missed smacking the dark dragon in the face with his tail. "Ehem," He started, "Sorry, were you guys here before while I was trying to obliterate that rock? Because I didn't even see you!" He chuckled nervously, looking at the storm dragon mainly. He turned to look at an annoyed looking bat, who was inching away from him every second he was there. Oh well I didn't know I stunk that much! He bared his teeth at the dragon for acting like he was a complete psycho and earned a slap from that dragon's wing. He huffed and turned back to Rhydor with a nervous, forced smile.

Ráijá Vábo
Psyche Dragon || Female || Mentions: Akhenaten, Others

Disdainful eyes met the rubble blocking the exit, her gaze narrowing as a dragon calling for others was heard. By now, most had either emerged from their caves, or lingered close enough to see the damage done. Had the attack not been against them, and had she not been the one trapped within the mountain, she would have enjoyed the sight. Of course, because the attack was against them, Ráijá was furious. And, perhaps above all, she found it morbidly entertaining.

"They missed," she hissed into the air, a cackle following her words as she studied the blocked exit. If whoever had done this wished to injure them, they had failed to do so. Then again, she couldn't speak for the Eastern Keep nor the riders. Not that she truly cared. Ráijá was a selfish creature, caring more for herself than others. So long as herself and Akhenaten were alright, what did it matter? There was the annoyance of the bond, and while she didn't wish to be bothered with it, it lingered in her mind like a pest. As unconcerned as she was, she was curious to know how that Ming of hers was. Then again, she wasn't necessarily in a rush to escape.

Cocking her head towards Akhenaten, she listened to his assessment before releasing a "tsk". Silent she was as she continued to stare at the rubble before finally averting her gaze onto the male next to her. "Don't waste your venom," was all she said. Truly, why should he? It would be a waste, and it would dry him out no less. Who knew what lay on the opposite end. He may need it.

Pausing, her head snapped towards the sound of dragons further calling, their sounds radiating around the caves and practically slapping her in the face. "You would think that somebody died given their screeches." Speaking in monotone, she hissed her morbid comment to Akhenaten before returning her focus to the exit.

"Alright, what are our options if we wish to clear this mess?" Slowly, her gaze traveled to lingering dragons, determining what species they were. "I doubt a wind dragon would do, or fire for that matter." Talon rising to her chin, she tapped it a few times in thought before returning to the male next to her. "A light dragon would work, or perhaps a lunar. You know how some of those have they're.. oh, what are they called. Some have these beams, surely you know what I'm talking about." Making hand movements to explain, Ráijá released a puff of breath.

She supposed that she could assist in clearing the stone, but she couldn't fathom wasting her energy on this, not when a singular beam could clear the area.

Juniper | Demi-boy (he/they) | 17 | Rider

M: Ming, Henry, + Fathom (dir)

Boom!

A loud rumble filled their ears as Juniper

sat up quickly in alarm. For a few moments, Juniper was frozen in place before reaching over to the oil lantern.

“What was that…?” Juniper mumbled as flicked a match and the room brightened with the warm glow of the gold lantern, looking over at Ming. Placing their bare feet on the ancient, wooden floors, Juniper rose from bed and placed his lantern beside him as he crouched down to grab his things. Juniper pulled on their dark green sweater over their soft shirt and put on their gold-rimmed glasses to their face. Pushing their circular glasses further up the bridge of their nose, Juniper remembered seeing a small circular window above the desks so maybe they could peer outside and see what happened? Their feet made a soft plop, plop, plop as they tapped against their floor on the way to the window between Juniper and Ming’s beds.

Ming replied with nothing into his pillow, or at least nothing Juniper heard, with the thick blankets over himself when Juniper lifted the lantern in his direction to better see the other recently-recruited academy member. Huffing, Juniper climbed on top of the desk in frustration that his roommate was so unresponsive.

“Okay, so it’s probably not the dragons— my mom and older brother both have dragons and they never— and I mean never— got that loud— so what in the Valley made that sound?” Pushing the dark green curtain aside, Juniper pressed their face to the circle window above their bed, trying to peer out of it.

Juniper’s eyes widened with horror as the oil lamp was not the only fire to illuminate his face. “Ming? Ming, wake up! Ming, there is so much fire!” Juniper hissed, while turning back at Ming, throwing a pencil from the desk at him in an attempt to get his attention. “It looks like a massive chunk was just taken out of the barn and— Oh my gods, the dragons could be hurt! Ming, we have to go make sure they are—”

Boom!

Before Juniper could even finish, it suddenly felt like he was flying. The desk he was standing on was no longer beneath him as he realized he was falling. Time froze as Juniper could only wonder what went wrong. Only a few hours earlier, he was the greatest moment of his life, but now, he fell.

A few hours earlier, Juniper was practically skipping down the halls as a giddy smile covered his face. Juniper smiled down at their big black boots and fiddled with their dark green cloak while he carried his satchel and bag on his shoulder. With Henry’s heavy footsteps beside him and his heavy guitar case swinging beside them, Juniper felt even better knowing their brother was here with them. Henry was Juniper’s older brother, his eldest sibling, too, and was the tallest and physically strongest in the family, outside of their mom, of course. As the two passed by other students, everyone had to literally and metaphorically look up to the massive building of muscles that was Henry as he sported his alumni jacket. Even though Henry was incredibly tall, incredibly muscular, and a dragon rider, something only few could aspire to be, the quality Juniper loved most was his kindness which was evident in his dorkish smile. This dorkish smile was what Henry was wearing at that very moment. Juniper was fully aware his brother was smiling down at him but was too excited to return his gaze.

“Third in the family to bond with a dragon,” Henry finally spoke up as they roamed the halls of the school. “That’s a pretty big deal. Most families are lucky to have just one person who has a dragon.” Henry chuckled to himself and shook his head, ruffling up Juniper’s hair as he starred fondly at his sibling. “Man…, mom and dad will be so proud to hear this.”

“And all our siblings and Nani, too, right?” Juniper replied, already knowing the answer but still wanting to hear it from Henry regardless.

“Well, Nani is easily impressed with anything you do, obviously,” Henry replied as he held up fingers and counted to make sure he was talking about everyone. “We both know the triplets and Freddy will be amazed by you and will love to meet your dragon. It’s Fandom, right?”

“Fathom.”

“Right, Fathom. I knew that.” Henry absolutely did not know that. He was always terrible with names. “Anyways, Daksha might pretend like she does not care but I know she will be proud of you regardless. And Falla—” Henry had to take a deep breath before responding as Juniper finally looked up at their much taller brother— “now, she might be jealous of you, she did always want a bond like mom and I and she was heartbroken when she didn’t get one.”

“Thanks for reminding me,” Juniper mumbled, turning away from Henry as they pulled their hood over their head, their strides became shorter, and they slumped foward in guilt.

“But—” Henry placed a reassuring hand on Juniper’s shoulder— “I am sure she will be immensely proud of you.”

Juniper walked slower beside Henry and lowered his voice as he felt people’s eyes on him as the two of them walked down the candlelight hallways. “That still doesn’t make me feel great… I mean, she really deserves a dragon more than me and you know it. I mean, I love Fathom, but— I mean— I really don’t deserve just how sweet and goofy and amazing he is.”

“Don’t worry about that, Juni,” Henry mumbled as he pulled the smaller teen close. “She might have worked hard for it, but she bounced back and has found a lot of things she is passionate about.” Henry poked Juniper in the chest with a smile. “You just worry about you and do the thing you’re good at: being great with animals and being yourself. Who knows! By doing those two things, maybe you’ll enter a dragon breeding program, form a whole club about animals, or even meet a hot guy or gal or person!~” Henry nudged Juniper and wiggled his eyebrows with a smirk while Juniper looked up at Henry in confusion.

“Why would I want to meet someone who potentially has a fever?” Juniper asked, tilting his head and narrowing his eyes.

“Eh, you’ll learn what I mean soon enough,” Henry laughed, shaking his head as he slung his arm around Juniper. “The Academy is a great place to learn new things so I am sure you’ll figure it out in no time.”

“I hope so.”

There was a long silence for a while before Henry wrapped his arm around Juniper’s throat, pulled him to his chest, and began ruffling his hair so much to the point where Juniper’s shoulder-length hair was pulled from the tie which had kept it out of his face. Juniper let out a small shriek in surprise, drawing some attention from the students as he thrashed in Henry’s arms.

“Let go of me you monsterous heathen of zero hygiene!”

“Let me hug and give my wittle itty bwitty sibling affection before they leave me to go do cool things in the academy!!”

“You’re staying the night and can visit me whenever you want, you cotton-eared rhinoceros with a flat nose!!!” Juniper screamed, kicking and thrashing as Henry picked him up and swung him around like a tiny doll.

Wordlessly, Henry dropped the guitar case he had slung over his shoulder and grabbed Juniper’s satchel and bag and tossed them both to the floor.

The moment Henry dropped Juniper just enough that the teenager’s toes could touch the ground, Juniper wrapped his arms behind Henry’s head and, with all the strength he could muster, flipped Henry over himself and onto the ground before him. Henry was momentarily stunned as he laid on the school floors, making students around them gasp and stare. Without another moment of hesitation, Henry burst into laughter and stood up, dusting himself off in the process.

“Well, you beat me this time,” Henry mumbled, cracking his back as he stood. “Did ya have to flip me that hard though? My poor fucking—”

Language.”

Henry sighed.

“My poor fricking—” Henry placed a lot of emphasis on ‘fricking—’ “back will be sore for weeks because of that little stunt.”

“Well, you shouldn’t have grabbed me like that, ya kitten fart,” Juniper huffed before slinging his bags back onto his shoulders and walking ahead, forcing Henry to trot to catch up with them.

“You might be a piece of work, but I am still proud of ya, ya know?”

“Yeah, yeah.”

“I mean it!”

“I know you do,” Juniper mumbled, smiling up at their brother as they pushed the rim of the glasses further up the bridge of their nose.

Stopping at dorm number 207, Juniper turned to face Henry as he shifted the bag on their shoulder to access the pocket of their cloak. After digging for a moment, Juniper discovered the key to their dorm with the number 207 etched in. Juniper took a deep breath, looking from the key then back to Henry.

“So uhh… this is my dorm,” Juniper mumbled softly.

“Yeah, I guess so,” Henry murmured in response as a forced smile was carved into his expression.

“You’ll still be around though, right?”

“Oh yeah,” Henry replied with a nod and a smile, “Xev is tired and I am tired so I will definitely hang around for a few more days at least. Don’t think you’re getting rid of me that easily, Juni.”

“Good,” Juniper chuckled before sticking the key into its slot. “I’ll see you soon then?”

“I’ll see you around,” Henry replied as he turned.

Waving over his shoulder, Henry decided not to linger much more than that even though Juniper wish he would. This was the first time Juniper left home and this was the first human he was about to potentially befriend. This was, of course, a great thing, but Juniper was afraid that they’d mess it all up. Taking one last deep breath, Juniper opened the door to the dorm room.

The dorm was small: two beds with green blankets, two small drawers at the foot of the bed, and two desks pressed together opposite he door under a circular window partially hidden by curtains. It was definitely smaller than Juniper had been expecting but what was more interesting was the black haired boy that knelt before the left bed as he seemed to unpack his bags.

“U-Uh— Hey there!! I’m Juniper!” Juniper mumbled, holding his satchel close as he waved at the boy.

Even in recalling these previous events, nothing struck Juniper as odd. Nothing bad had happened and it seemed like everything had gone right. Why would the stable be blown to bits? Why was Juniper falling? It all made absolutely no sense.

Before Juniper could further rewind and remember previous event, time decided to continue as Juniper stopped falling and crashed to the floor. Every bone screamed in agony as his head began to ring. Sitting up slowly, Juniper looked around him and tried to take in his surroundings as his vision was clouded in a red lighting. He was in a small room with shelves stacked with cleaning supplies and a mop shoved in the corner with the desk and the floor he had been standing on crushing some of the objects in the small space. Juniper had to adjust their glasses, which were surprisingly not broken as he glanced up from where he fell. There was a hole in the ceiling with pipes and wood planks jutting out from it as the room above seemed to be what was giving off the warm colors that lit the broom closet. Juniper squinted at the room above, trying to see what the light was as it was far to bright and bold to be his lantern.

Just then, a creaking sound came from above. Flaming and falling, a massive support beam tumbled downwards from the crumbling, burning ceiling. Juniper tried to roll out of the way while covering his head with his arms, but the wood crashed into his forearm, burning into his flesh as it pinned his left arm down. Crying out in pain, the wood made his skin sizzle and pop as Juniper quickly rotated himself and aimed his leg at the wood. Rapidly, Juniper began kicking at the wooden support beam with his bare feet as tears and smoke blurred his vision. With one final blow, Juniper managed to free his arm as adrenaline was the only thing keeping Juniper from shutting down in that moment.

Having suffered with severe asthma his whole life, despite desperately needing a moment to catch his breath, Juniper could not do so as smoke filled the room. Crawling helplessly to the door while clutching his arm, Juniper was wheezing for air and only stopped to cough loudly into the cold floor when too much smoke entered his lungs. Juniper would need his mask to get out of this room or else Juniper would die without ever getting to spend time with his family, with Henry, or with Fathom again.

Reaching through his psychic connection with his dragon, Juniper managed to concentrate on one word: Help.

Geneviève Caballero

Dragon Rider | 17 | Female | Mentions: Cyprus

The young female was contently asleep in her bed - that was a change in pace for her, she had actually managed to get to bed early and not spend the night reading a book or revising notes. She had carefully put her curly hair up and in a white nightcap and wore a white robe. She was tucked contently under the covers, not knowing the loming danger to come. She had always been a light sleeper, and she could feel her sleep being disturbed by the sounds of explosions - she sleepily opened her eyes, and that's when the explosion rattled her core and she ducked under the covers as the glass in the windows were blasted inwards. It was so close that nothing but the sound of a high-pitched ringing flooded her senses. She was also breathing heavily, and she slowly came from her hiding spot after being frozen for a moment. She could hear her name being called, but it sounded so far away, and so she relieved herself of the covers, and that's when the scent of fire and smoke flooded her nostrils as she stumbled out of bed. She took in Cyprus taking an overstuffed bag, and she quickly rummaged through the drawers and found a pair of pants, and stumbled as she wrangled to put them on while looking for her riding boots and socks - she didn't need to cut her feet on glass or them being exposed. She also quickly grabbed her go-bag - she didn't think she would've needed it, but she was glad at this moment she did.

It held maps of the nation and school, a compass, journals and books about edible and non-edible wildlife, and may other useful things along with two daggers. And she quickly stuffed the top of her nightgown in the pants as a makeshift shirt and grabbed her bow and quiver holding her arrows. "Yea, yeah, I'm fine, if I could just-" she growled annoyed, as she hopped and wrestled to put on her last boot and nearly ran into Cyprus in the process. She then listened to the words of her roomate as she cautiously peered out into the halls, " Yeah, we should catch up, however we don't know how far they are - not to mention this was an attack, so we need to be ready for anything. Especially enemy soldiers, we should move."

Geneviève wasn't about to be a sitting duck in all this, and so she cautiously moved about the burning school, her bow at the and ears opened for the slightest sound - her body was crouched and low as she slunk around, careful not to give away their position, her eyes narrow with concentration as she moved forward and glanced back occassionally to make sure no one was following them. She probably looked ridiculous, but she wasn't taking an chances and she looked to Cyprus and hoped to break some tension in this moment.

" We should see if we could contact our dragons at this moment, it possibly won't work but we should definetly try." she whispered to the other girl. She knew she had low percentage of being able to contact her dragon through all this . Belloan, if you can hear me, I'm alright and I'm praying that you are as well - the academy is on fire, and we're scattered about in this place. I have a bad feeling about this. I'm with Cyprus and we're trying to get out of here. That's when she stopped as she looked at the mess of dorms before her, and it was like a slide of rocks and rubble had partially caved in the roof and made a big enought space to view the outside, and so she put her bow around her body and began climbling, careful as to not cut her hands against something. And when she reached the top she could see a lot of the destruction of the onslaught of soilders coming in the building with armor and weapons.

" Cyprus, we need to find whoever we can and get to the armory now." she said urgently. She didn't know if her dragon heard her but she was praying to the gods that he did.

Henry | Male | 23 | Rider

M: Kaia + Xevioso (dir)

Henry heard what sounded like the world’s loudest thunderclap that woke Henry from his sleep. Grumbling, Henry turned in his half-sleep, nuzzling into the blankets as he tried to fall back into the pleasant dream he had been having. Despite being a big, hefty guy, Henry was an incredibly light sleeper and was always awoken easily by the slightest of sounds, but that earsplitting booming woke him right up. With no luck falling back asleep, Henry grumbled as he stood and glanced at his roommate and friend from a few years ago: Kaia.

Kaia was here when Henry was going through his dragon riding training and was practically top of Henry’s graduating class. While Henry went back to the Valley to continue his work on the farm, Kaia had the honor of being further trained to become the squad leader of the latest generation of riders. Henry wondered how the man was dealing with heavy honor.

It looked like Kaia had probably gone insane from that honor as Henry watched the man roll off then under his bed.

“Kaia, what are you—”

Boom!

Before Henry could react, he was blown backwards by an explosion, managing to cover his face to protect himself but not shielding his already sore back as he was thrown back into the wall like a bullet shot into concrete except the bullet was made of bone and it all shattered on contact with the wall. Shards of wood from the door pierced his arms as he grunted from the combined pain.

A ringing filled his ears as Kaia rushed beside him after pulling on a shirt. With his blurry vision, Henry could barely make out the man but just saw his lips move though whatever he said went in one ear and out the other. If Henry had half-a-mind, he would have pulled on a shirt and some pants like Kaia did, but instead he just groggily stood, placing a large hand on Kaia’s shoulder as he briefly leaned on the smaller man. Henry was reminded of just how much smaller and thinner the man was as his one hand practically covered the man’s entire shoulder. Grumbling, the man leaning against the other as he caught his breath, he looked over to his bed and saw a large scaffolding had fallen and crushed his bed. If he had not stood up, Henry would absolutely be dead. Of course, just then, he received a message from Xev.

“Thanks for the heads up,” Henry replied sarcastically through their psychic connection as his legs stopped wobbling enough that he no longer had to lean on Kaia. “I’m alright, but you just work on staying safe, please. Stay out of trouble while I go look for Juni.”

As Henry opened his mouth to say he was going after Juniper, Kaia spoke. Henry chuckled and nodded along with his words.

“I see why you were chosen as squad leader, now,” Henry replied, trying to at least get the man to not go tunnel-visioned. “I’m right behind you then, Kaia.” As Kaia pulled away from him, Henry quickly rushed over to pull on his pants, almost tripping over himself in the process. “I’ll—” Henry then did trip while struggling to pull his tight pants on and stumbled back onto his feet. “I’ll search the left side of the building where Juniper is and look for any survivors. You look for your brother and— Hey wait up a sec!” As Kaia ran off, Henry fumbled to zipper up his pants before slinging his guitar case back over his shoulder and sprinting after him. Jumping over falling scaffolding and running over shards of glass and fallen over candles, Henry ran barefoot after Kaia before talking once more. “In case you didn’t hear me, I will search one side, you search the other, got it?”

"Ao" [] Male [] Venom Dragon [] M: Kitisho(Ind), Other dragons near the exit
°
Ao slept peacefully as the wind whistled through his dark cavern. The air was humid and the ground covered in puddles of clear water. The only sounds were the occasional dripping of water from the stone above him, and the soft, muffled breathing through his lips. Each breath raised his lips ever so slightly, his ears twitching with each miniscule noise. Many would find his resting creepy, for his lack of eyelids makes it hard to tell if he's awake. The only sign is a blue, transparent film over his eyes.
°
His ears perked at a crumbling sound in the distance, it wasn't unnordinary for mudslides to happen, but the sound woke him from his sleep ever so slightly. Turning his ears towards the noise, he waited in the silence, and decided to ignore it and return to his slumber. A sudden crash and loud bang awoke him. Adrenaline surged through him at the scare, and he was standing defensively within seconds.
°
He dug his claws down, holding his stance as he eyed the cavern entrance. The smaller pair of ears on the back of his head turned to his side as another crumble caught his attention. His eyes wandered in the direction of the noise, half expecting something to come jumping out. A loud sudden screech broke his bearing. Kitisho. A soft growl, almost purr-like, escaped his mouth. The only time that damn lizard shrieked like that was when using his abilities, and he'd never heard one that bad. Something was coming, and it was soon.
°
Almost as if on que, a louder and deeper boom shook the caverns. On indistinct, he looked up, as the stalactites above him shook and started to fall. He dove for the cave entrance, tumbling out before the entirety of it collapsed. He couldn't help but thank his small size. His eyes searched his surroundings, disappointed in their struggle to see through the dust. His body jerked in a sneeze from the particles. It seemed everything had just processed in his mind, the caverns were destroyed. He watched closely as the dust settled, murmurs and snarls filled his ears from neighboring dragons. Many were injured, or missing even.
The exit was blocked, and it seemed most of them were calculating what to do about it. His abilities were useless in this situation, making him doubt the superiority of smaller dragons.
