Jira
Released Wolf | Four | Female | Mentions: Ansa, Hallbjorn, Erjon, Deyanira, Dawn, Dusk, Mishka

To say the female was overwhelmed was an understatement, causing her tongue to loll out of her mouth and visibly pant. It was a natural attempt for her to reduce her stress and allow her to think straight. First things first: She had to find Ansa, and hopefully that half-wit brother of hers, Hallbjorn. It would be better to be in a group than on their own, that was for sure.

Her nose twitched, and just as the thought crossed her mind again, a familiar scent flooded her, causing relief to run through her veins. Immediately she began to trot in the direction of her friends, her ears perked to listen for anything else around her. As she drew nearer, her blood ran cold when a howl split the air. It wasn't one she recognized, and she was familiar with most of the voices that came with them to the release. They had all lived on the preserve, and while they didn't know one another necessarily, she had definitely heard them at some point. This voice was strange, foreign to her, and that didn't bode well.

She increased her pace until she reached her friend and her brother, and nodded gently, brushing up against Ansa briefly for reassurance. "We should go investigate that howl, and see if we can find some of the others. Safety is in numbers, especially if there are unknown wolves here," she stated metter-of-factly, before trotting in the direction of the howl, though she knew it had passed and it was likely the wolf was no longer there.

Her legs carried her swiftly as she moved, her jaws closed tight in a look of concentration and focus. She knew Ansa and Hallbjorn would follow her, while Ansa was just as dominant and liked to be in charge as her, they also knew how Jira could get when her mind was set on something. Sometimes it was better just to go along with her.

After a bit of travel, she came into an opening around a wide stream, or river, she wasn't exactly sure what classified what as which. But nevertheless, she was certain this area had been recently traveled. There were multiple scents around, four if she counted correctly, one of whom has the smell of blood mixed with it. Two of the scents were different she wasn't sure exactly what made them different, but they were. She had to assume these were foreign, or wild, wolves. It was odd, though, that there were exactly two of the wild wolves despite the howl that had went up. That should have called a whole pack. Was it possible there were just two?

Her tail flicked in annoyance and she glanced at Hallbjorn and Ansa, "we should follow these scents. I'm not sure what's going on, but we should find out." She said, and then padded off, trying her best to follow the direction the scent trail lead. It was difficult, she had never tried to track wolves before, but she had practiced at home with tracking a multiude of other things.

It took her some time, longer than she would have liked, but eventually she narrowed in on the group of wolves she had been following. Her figure hidden within the shadows of the trees as she approached, her ears twitched as she listened to the scene unfold ahead of her. There were definitely more wolves now, and they seemed to be talking. Maybe even arguing? She didn't catch the whole conversation, but she caught enough of it to piece together what was going on.

She bared her teeth in annoyance, and partial aggression. Jira wasn't fond of the idea of some feral female gathering the wolves who had been released here for herself. If they were dropped here to form a pack, which would make sense since so many were released, then this female was a threat. Not necessarily to the wolves, but to her and Ansa. Both of them desired to be on top, to be leaders, and this female could ruin things. The She-Wolf wasn't about to allow that. She glanced at Ansa, and flicked her tail, her expression and body language a clear message for the female to follow her lead.

Quietly she departed from the woods, her tail and head held high. She was careful to keep her facial features into a trained expression of neutrality, trying not to give away anything.

"Wait!" She called as she walked forward, glancing at the male and female who spoke last. The feral she-wolf and the male, who she believed to be a released wolf, were her main focus.

"You shouldn't go with her. We should be approaching this with caution, and as you said it could be a trap," her eyes had flicked to the male, and she lifted her chin slightly in defiance. "Did you not think it was odd that there are only two of them, yet they say this territory is claimed?" She let out a scoff and glanced at the wild female.

"Either she is leading you back to her den, where the rest of their pack is waiting to ambush you, or there is only the two of them and they do not have the strength to hold it against any group of wolves, whether wild born or not," she reasoned, her tail flicking to motion to Ansa and Hallbjorn behind her. "It would be safer for us to find the rest of the released wolves, if there are any more, and group together. Find a place to call home for now, before venturing out to figure out what is going on," she growled softly as she turned to appraise the wild female for a moment. She looked her up and down for a moment, before snorting softly, seemingly unimpressed.

"It would be unwise to go with her right now, to be indebted to her," she glanced at the two wolves who had apparently followed her. "Because then you will be obligated to her. She could use you to push the rest of out. The numbers she maybe didn't have before she could have now," her tail swished, and she glanced at Erjon and shrugged a bit.

"That is if I'm correct on there just being two of them, but considering only one of them came when the other howled, I would presume there to be no more. If I'm wrong, then it's likely a trap. Either way, trust should not be given until it is earned." Jira glanced behind the male wolf, to the female who appeared to have been sitting with him before hand (Mishka). "That goes for all of us, we should all work together right now. Once we have a better idea of, well, everything, then we can figure out what to do about them," she barely even glanced at the two wolves as she spoke primarily to her released comrades.

"We're not helpless. Anything she can show us, we are fully capable of learning without her," she reaffirmed, her head held high, eyes daring anyone to challenge her words.

Erjon
Masculine || Released || Four || Mentions: Mishka, Zyron, Dawn, Dusk, Jira, Ansa, Hallbjorn

Piteous.

That was the singular word that had lodged itself into his mind when staring at the male in his vicinity. Not the brother of the wild female, but the brother of the released one. The brother who stood soggy and damp after having taken a pleasurable swim in the water. He disliked the way this male carried himself. It was shameful, not to mention difficult to look at.

"Raise your head, you look pathetic. Tsk, lowering it like a fool before a stranger like that isn't instinct, it's fear. Where I used to live, your type would have been the first to attract the vultures." The side of his lip curled up, forming a sneer. Such cruel words often escaped Erjon's lips, but who could blame him? He was stuck with wolves who understood nothing about survival. For his own sanity, he should leave. He deserved it, but he needed to learn, and the female he had overheard called Deya knew things. She knew where they were, and she knew these lands. Perhaps she could help point him in the right direction..

Eyes widening, Erjon's face had turned towards the released brother and sister, a smile tugging at his lips. "Dawn and Dusk?" He had repeated in awe, butting into the conversation. "Real creative, your parents were. I'll tell you that much." Releasing a huff, he shook his head to himself, muttering under his breath. "Dawn and Dusk," he mumbled to himself, chuckling at his own words before resuming to follow Deya.

The male had taken all but a few steps before whirling around, his ears picking up the sound of others. Narrowing his eyes, Erjon espied the presence of others. There was a female, being followed by another, and finally, a male. However, his focus was not on the male, or even the second female, but the one ahead of them all. He didn't like her, he knew that already. The way she strutted forward with a blank look upon her face, ah, well, Erjon knew her type. She was the one that wanted control, despite not knowing anything herself. The ones like her? They got ahead of themselves too quickly.

A frown seeped across his face, a daggered look digging into the female standing across for him. Who was she tell them what not to do? "Don't go with them? Is that right? And why should I be listening to somebody like you, huh?" He asked, leaning forward before shaking his head. Whirling around, he dismissed her. Erjon was tired of socializing for one day, but as luck would have it, the female continued. On and on she chattered until, finally, he couldn't take it anymore. Releasing a deepened sigh, the masculine glanced at her from over his shoulder, humouring her.

"It is odd that territory is claimed by two wolves.. well.. One wolf only," Glancing at Deya's brother, Erjon shrugged. "..But take a good whiff, I can't smell any other scents. Of course, there's the possibility of them masking it, but then again, I've met other wolves, singular wolves with claimed land like theirs. Most of the time, the places aren't permanent." Glancing to Deya and her brother, he spoke: "Are you moving around and seeking shelter for a bit, or do you actually live here?" Glancing back to the female in front of him, Erjon blew a breath on her face. It was odd how Deya already explained her life story, and perhaps a past Erjon would be more weary, but this current one? He simply wanted to get away.

Now, the female spoke logically, leading him to believe she didn't entirely lack brains, however, Erjon had some issues with her plan. "You find the rest of the released wolves, and then what? You think you'll survive out here? You lot know nothing. None of you will last, and I don't plan on sticking around. From the way I see it, Deya here is your best bet. At least she can teach you. Who knows, maybe you two can strike a deal, I don't care. Like I said, I don't plan on staying."

Shrugging, it was clear Erjon lacked remorse. He had his plan, that is, if he could figure out where they were without being interrupted. Of course, he wouldn't mind a good pack, solely for survival, but he certainly didn't want a pack that was useless. "You can provide Deya with protection, and in return, she can teach you how to adapt and thrive. I'm telling you right now, without her, you have nobody to help you. And trust me when I say that you'll need lots of help." Motioning to Dusk as an example, Erjon glanced back to the female.

"You talk too much for somebody that doesn't know anything about the situation. Who said anything about trust? You think I trust her? You think I trust her little brother? You think I trust you? I accepted an offer, that doesn't mean I've devoted my life and loyalty to her. You are all strangers to me. I accepted her help because she's my best bet right now. Somebody that knows the land is more useful to me than somebody that probably can't even catch her own dinner." Spitting his words out, the male glared at her for a moment. While he admired her determination, he wasn't sure if it could truly help, and for a moment, a singular moment, he felt a pang of pity for them all. That, of course, vanished moments later, leaving him back to square one. He was done thinking about others. It was his turn now.

"Now," glancing at Deya, his lips curled back. "Can you explain the territory to me a little more?"

Pang.

Pah, there was that feeling again. The one full of pity and guilt.

Pang.

Damn it.

Pausing, he glanced back to the other female. "And alright, we'll find the others, but that's all I do for you. After that, you're by yourselves.. the den can take a rain check for the time being."

Deyanira | F | 4.5 | Mentions: The Released Wolves - Erjon, Mishka, Dawn, Dusk, Ansa, Hallbjorn and her brother, Zyron

The young female watched the group interact curiously . Her particular interest was in Erjon, he seemed to be a viable asset and she wanted to learn more about him. As he spoke she listened intently and said, "It's quite alright. I see you're in a predicament- however I don't fully apologize for being aggressive - this place has few strangers on the land. "
She watched him interact her brother with a keen eye, protective yet not defensive since she could tell he meant no harm. She knew her brother would be swimming with questions. She heard his murmured apology and whispered question. She gave him a small and reassuring look.

She gave Erjon a playful smirk at his words saying, "Me? Smart, I sure hope I would be to survive out here." Her tone was more relaxed than it's aggressive one. However she was still on edge with all these new wolves. And she watched each as
she could with a hidden wariness. After all they were strangers even if she was being nice to them.

When the male asked her the name of the place she said, "This is The Groves you're in."

She was curious as to why he asked for the name. Possibly, to gauge where he was . Her thoughts were interrupted when the two younger wolves began to introduce themselves and she had to restrain herself from blowing a blood vessel.

"Dawn, you really shouldn't be so condescending to your brother like that. It's deplorable." She said sternly with a unimpressed glare and then she turned to Dusk.

"What did I say about that speech of yours . You really should learn to articulate yourself more. And that posture just reaks of weakness, you need to have confidence even if you do something stupid and are embarrassed- you don't show it, that's a known rule. If you don't learn how to put up a good bluff and be confident when you're scared witless by someone else you won't survive long out here kid." Her voice was stern and commanding and you could tell she meant every word by the look he was giving her.

She would've said more has not three more wolves come and joined them.
"Just how many of there are you." She muttered to herself.

The new female instantly began to speak about not trusting her and being cautious. The female gave a simple huff at the rant, and she sat down for this one. Her eyes were unimpressed and bored by this females words and she possibly had a certain distaste in her eyes for her. While the female spoke logically and had some points, she also was just annoying as hell.

She was about to rip her a new one when the male spoke before her. He spoke with reason and it was fascinating to watch him talk, when he directed a question towards her she responded, " We move around depending on the season. And the densite we have currently is best suited for winter. During the warmer months we stay near the meadows more. So yes we live here temporarily."

The female listed as he spoke valid facts. And she had to appreciate how he said she was their best bet for now. And she agreed with that statement, and it impressed her how he planned to be independent sooner than later but would accept help for now. She had to resist the urge to snicker as he told the female off. However his last question was directed towards her.

"Sure, I can tell you about this territory. Well for one thing the weather may not be that cold as of now but it gets significantly colder at night so be wary of that . You can also possibly find partial dens and other dens around here, but be careful of disturbing hibernating creatures . Their is peanut of water , but at the moment the river is half f-" she would've continued but she noticed how he turned back to the other female, and mentioned helping find the rest of the other wolves.

So secretly a softy? She thought inwardly and she gave a small shake of her fur as she stood.

This time she didn't walk with laziness but boldness and a command in her step as she approached Jira and scoffed in her face with a feral grin, her teeth on full display, and ears pulled back in distaste with her tail casually held high.

"Now," she began in a more authoritative tone, "I'm only going to say this once, so listen up. You are in my backyard sweetheart, I don't know what you're used to with humans but you are not the boss of me out here, on my land. And yes, my land, wherever I stand - I own. I fought for this spot fair and square a while ago and I'll be damned before some newbie comes and tells me what to do. Don't you ever disrespect me again, because I won't hesitate to take my claws to your face."

Her eyes were predatory as she turned to walk away, she then glanced over her shoulder saying, "And the next time you look me up and down and scoff - your face will be ground into the snow."

She gave her own scoff as she looked at the female, and she turned to Erjon saying, "My brother can help you all find the rest of your group - he knows this land extremely well and has good tracking skills. Meanwhile, the two brats need to be taken to the den so I can take care of Dawn's shoulder wound and so Dusk won't freeze his ass off in the cold. I send my brother as a sign of goodwil, and new loud female if you don't trust me then you can send someone of your choice to inspect the densite and how I care for your comrades . I think that's only fair."

"Any objections?"

Jira
Released Wolf | Four Years | Female | Mentions: Erjon, Deyanira, Ansa, and Hallbjorn

The female kept her head and chin up the entire time, the male's gruff way about him bothering her very little, if at all. She jsut wasn't built to dwell on things like that, she knew who she was, and it would take a lot to intimdate her or make her feel insecure. Her ears twitched when he spoke, able to acknowledge the good points he made in his argument, but she still disagreed with him to a degree.

"I don't agree with you, I don't think we need her. I think she believes we do. I think a lot of assumptions about the rest of us have been made based off of those two," she motioned to Dawn and Dusk. It wasn't meant as an insult, just a fact. Every wolf was different, and to base their opinions on all of them from those two wolves would be inaccurate.

"Everyone is under the impression that we cannot fend for ourselves, I disagree. We might struggle, but we're perfectly capable of surviving out here just fine. I don't know what life you lived, but Ansa, Hallbjorn, and I have had very little contact with humans. They didn't feed us, we had to provide for ourselves in the little territory we had. I can't speak for everyone's experience, but I know at least we can survive on our own," she flicked her tail and nodded gently at Ansa behind her. She was grateful her best friend was here with her, at least she wasn't alone.

Not having much else to say to the male, she let out a soft yawn, taking little interest in anything the female was saying to the male in front of her. Even when the she-wolf turned her attention onto her, Jira took no interest. She really wasn't listening, the authorative tone she took up bounced of Jira, and the female found herself bored with the whole thing.

"You know.. This.. tough girl act you've got going, the one where you threaten everyone so they'll think you'll kick their ass, it's really tiring and boring. Does anyone really take you serious with that attitude?" Her head cocked to the side, and she shrugged after a moment. "I don't really care who you are, it matters little to me. I don't care if you think this territory belongs to you, or anything else. As far as I'm concerned, this is ours now, and truthfully, there isn't anything you can do about it," she looked at the female for a moment and snorted. "If you're so sensitive that a scoff hurts your delicate feelings, then you're definitely not someone I'm going to waste my time on," Jira shook out her coat and turned back to Erjon, and nodded gently to him.

"Thank you," she glanced at Ansa and Hallbjorn, "we're going to head back to the release site and see who we can find. I'm not sure how many of us were released but we can figure that out from there. Once we've found everyone we can, I'm going to lead them into that thick grove. If you'd like you can find us there, but it's your decision."

Without another word, Jira turned to Ansa and and Hallbjorn and smiled briefly. "Shall we? Once we get there we can decide what the best course of action is," gently she pushed her shoulder into Ansa. They were free, and she was going to do everything in her power to keep it that way for them. No one was going to ruin this for them.

Erjon
Masculine || Released || Four || Mentions: Mishka, Zyron, Dawn, Dusk, Jira, Ansa, Hallbjorn

He had taken note of Deya's words, allowing them to sink into his mind. He needed to know more about the land, however, it had to wait. This other female wished to find the remaining wolves? So be it, perhaps there was a smarter individual around, one that knew the basics to survival. Thus, he would grant them this favour, but after? After, he would depart on his own and leave all evidence of this in the past.

However, he decided that he would only do it under peaceful circumstances, so, when Deya spoke back to the other female, Erjon's hackles raised, his teeth flashing in warning. "Enough," he hissed, stepping between both females. "I mean no ill will towards you," he spoke, focusing on Deya first, "..but you present yourself with too much authority. For somebody that knows how to survive, you continue acting like a fool."

Stepping between both females, his eyes remained fixated upon Deya. "You speak highly of yourself and throw out threats like prizes, but that isn't wise. The moment you touch one of them, what do you think will happen? You're outnumbered, so it's best to lower your tone." -- "I've had enough of this, it's been less but a few minutes, and already, feuds? It's pathetic. Is this what happens when you're not taught anything?"

Snorting, Erjon's lips lowered, his posture straightening. "You're all wasting your energy fighting, and for what? Nobody is touching anybody, nobody is having their faces ground into the snow. Understood? The moment anybody is touched, I'll be the first to intervene, mark my words." Releasing a shuddered sigh, the male's face relaxed, tail swaying behind him. "And you," he began, turning to the other female. "Are you truly one to talk about attitude? Clearly you care who she is, or else you wouldn't be here right now wasting your time on her. I've seen enough, so, why don't we all bite our tongues and focus on the true goal here, huh?" Nodding his head, Erjon stepped back, turning to Deya.

"Now, we would gladly accept the assistance of your brother. All the faster I can leave this place." He had muttered the last sentence, glancing to the other female. "You think she would offer her brother to us if she meant any harm? I'm not saying to trust her, even I'm not foolish enough to do that, but you must admit to a good offer when you see it." Pausing, Erjon turned to Deya. "I accept."

Refocusing on the other female who had waltzed toward the group, he spoke once more. "You can fend for yourself, I can see that much, but even with little help and being able to hunt, this is a different world. There are more dangers here, even you must admit to that. You need to do more than survive, you need to be able to thrive." Concluding his lecture, the male nodded his head a final time.

"I'm glad we all understand one another."

Silas - 3 - Released Wolf - Mentioned: Released wolves, Deyanira, Zyron,

Silas lifted his head, hearing a panicked howl cut through the air. He didn't recognize the voice, it wasn't any of the wolves he knew. His muzzle dripped small water droplets back into the water. He stood there for a few minutes, deciding whether to check it out. Then he lowered his head again and lapped at the water a few more times, before stepping back and turning, ears flicking at the noises, nose twitching; taking in the different scents of the forest. Then he took off in the direction of the noise at a fast trot, he remained alert as he went on his way. Of course, there was the danger of running into an already established pack. He started picking up scents on the breeze, familiar ones, that made him slow to a walk.

After pausing, he took off again, at the same quick trot. After a bit, he came to an opening around a stream, a wide one, or was it river? The specfics didn't matter at the moment, so he left it at that. There had certainly been wolves here recently, several scents. Unfamiliar and familiar, at least he knew he was on the right track. He padded on the scent trail, knowing that he would find the others if he tracked it. After some time, he found the group of wolves he had been tracking. The black wolf paused some distance away, listening, he could hear snatches of talking, but was not close enough to hear what exactly. He stayed there, the other released wolves looked like were about to leave, then he walked a little closer into view, curious but cautious. The mood felt...tense, but it didn't seem like anybody was about to attack.
