Dawn | F | Air Dragon | 111 | M: Lira, Isabel, (Dir.) Terra, Vasuki, Calmira, other riders (Ind.)

It's nice to meet you as well.”

Dawn replied, waiting for the moment where her young rider introduced herself. The moment never came as another girl approached, someone her young rider was familiar with. Along with the other young girl followed a dragon, specifically a water class.

So she’s a rider also?

Dawn gazed at the girl who had her arm slung around her rider. A spark of annoyance had shot through her, someone had to just come in and interrupt her bonding with her rider! Dawn growled at the girl, turning away. All the sudden a tail snapped in her direction, causing Dawn to jump to her feet. Confusion sparked in her mind.

What in the world was that?

Looking up Dawn’s gaze locked with the other dragons who's temperament towards her was very aggressive. “Well hello to you too.” Dawn’s eyes were full of annoyance. She let out a small growl of warning to the dragon, a warning telling her to keep away from her newfound rider. Dawn kept her gaze locked on the water class dragon, making sure it didn't try anything.

Out of the corner of her eye Dawn now noticed a faint light, slower growing brighter and brighter. Looking away she gazed at the sight that lay away from her. A dark class dragon was making quite the entrance. But wait that light surely wasn't coming from the dark dragon, was it? Dawn gazed more intently at the dragon, soon realizing another dragon on its back, a light class. Both dragons were very rare and Dawn herself had only heard stories and had never actually seen one until today.

Her eyes were fixated on the rare sight before her, almost like a trance. Both of the Dragons looked so regal. Upon studying the two dragons more, Dawn realized they must know each other, and must have some sort of bond, whether it was friends or more than that Dawn felt it would remain a mystery to her, at least for now.

Shaken from her thoughts by the voice of her young rider Dawn looked away, listening. “Race you there!” Looking around Dawn saw that her rider was speaking to the other girl, not her. Sighing Dawn lifted herself from the ground, intending to follow after her rider, after she learned the girls’ name.

“Wait, what should I call you?”

Dawn asked, not uttering a word, but asking all the same. It was too late though, both girls had already begun to run off, racing each other, trying to reach the center of the valley. Giving one last huff Dawn bounded after her rider, a slight prickle of annoyance growing inside of her.

When the group reached the center of the Valley it was busier than Dawn had originally thought. Many dragons and riders were together, giving gifts and receiving gifts in return. Turning to her left, Dawn saw the light dragon giving gifts to her new rider. To her right Dawn noticed the dark dragon receiving a gift from his rider. Dawn felt envious of all the dragons and riders around her exchanging gifts. She wished her rider had though to bring a gift. Then again Dawn herself never though to bring a gift, so part fo it was on her.

Most of the dragons and their riders seemed to have already formed bonds, and were still with each other, likely getting to know each other more. Dawn couldn't say the same about her rider who had seemingly ran off with another girl, leaving Dawn to trail behind. So far the experience Dawn was having wasn’t quite what she had imagined, but then again the two had yet to get to know each other, maybe within that time Dawn would grow to like her rider more.

I sure hope so..

Once again Dawn lay beside her rider, hoping for some interaction with her, preferably alone and away from this other girl and her dragon.

Agneya

Fire Dragon | Female | Mentions: Other Dragons, New Riders, Hiroshi

The young dragon had to surpress a scowl from appearing on her features in response to the human. He hadn't proved himself worthy of being her human as of yet, after all he offended her greatly. She had come all this way just for this measly human to simply tell her his him? He didn't care about her gifts and how she carefully chose the best fruit for him, nor did he compliment her beauty and to add more insult he seemed to be fawning over some water dragon - the nerve of this insolent creature, and the final straw was he didn't even offer a gift to her! What type of human didn't give beautiful gifts to their dragons?! He could've at least acted like he had something for her even if he didn't. It was so upsetting to her and then he had the gall to not have his attention on her but instead look at the other dragons. Hmph, if he was going to play it like that then so shall she. She was going to let him know her displeasure. And feel her fury.

Human, she hissed through their bond, letting her disappointment and simmering anger seep through, you have disappointed me. You ignore my gift, do not bestow one on me, not have your attention on our bonding , and even have the gall to look in adoration at a Water Dragon. Nor did you compliment my scales or give me such a look of awe and excitement. Just a simple hello. For this I am not calling you, your name until you have earned it. But you better damn well use my name. If you're done looking at other dragons I would suggest working on actually bonding with me before our Frist Ride, because I'm tempted to dump you out of the sky and into the lake.

She gave the male a pointed look of disappointment. She was going to make him work for atonement for his horrible first impression. Agneya craned her head, and saw her sister. Hopefully her sister was having more success with her human than she was with the little shit she had with her. She was going to purportedly make his first ride hell if he didn't shake up. She felt envious as she watched others with their riders, some exnaging jewels and other valuables . Agneya had a precious gem she wanted to bestow for her rider as well but he hadn't earned it - so he simply got oranges.

She gave her human another unimpressed look.

Michael Evans - Rider - 18 - Male - Mentions: Deirdre, Riders (indirect), Dragons (indirect),

Michael opened his eyes, slowly, feeling as if he had to pry them apart. And was met with the sight of grass.

What the hell.

The vague thought floated through his mind, along with confusion. Why was he presumably face-down in the grass? But he couldn't muster the energy to pursuing a dedicated thought process at the very instant.

There was a weird tingly feeling in his limbs, like pins and needles sensation when one regains feeling in their body. A peculiar weakness still lingered though, like he could barely summon enough strength to move his body beyond opening his eyes. He wanted to roll over onto his side at least, but he still felt sluggish. And groggy. And dizzy. In short, he wasn't feeling the best at the moment. Eventually, he managed to move his body enough to flop onto his back, he would try getting up, but he didn't feel strong enough to attempt it. He blinked up at the mostly clear blue sky, bright, very bright. He shut his eyes, white specks dancing before his eyelids. He rather felt like he had just woken up from a really deep sleep, although the weakness in his limbs was new. What happened? Feeling more alert as the seconds passed, he thought back to what he remembered before waking up suddenly.

He remembered nearly getting hit with a bookbag, thank you for that Hart. Standing where he had been for a few moments. A fire dragon pushing through the people, heading straight towards him-

Wait.

That's right.

He remembered now, the memories came up to him in a rush. The sight of the dragon's powerful body protectively wound around him, the brilliant fire colored scales, and golden eyes. He had been chosen by a dragon. The weight of that didn't sink in for a moment, then it hit him. Oh God, he had been chosen by a dragon.

Him.

He had been chosen by a dragon.

A.

Dragon.

The feeling of shock came back to him upon that truth finally sinking into his mind. And joy. He knew how lucky he was to be chosen, many people who came to the Choosing Ceremony were not; a precious few were chosen by a dragon and went on to become Riders of Ederia. Again, the complicated, tangled, emotions rose up. He felt giddy, and the compulsion to laugh rose up, barely restrained at the last moment, resulting in a strangled sound coming from his throat. Though his grey eyes expressed what he was feeling internally. Disbelief amd joy being the main parts.

He couldn't believe he passed out.

First thing he did when meeting his dragon.

Is faint.

Once he started feeling better, namely the weakness and dizziness receding, he sat up. Too quickly, as proven by the sudden surge of dizziness that accompanied the movement, but it faded. Once he got his bearing, he looked around at the clearing. Several people looked like they had been chosen by dragons, he was pretty sure the dark and light dragons had been present when he had lost consciousness. How long had he been out?

⸻「 Rinecess 」⸻

Female || Rider || 18 Years || Mentions: Calemira

In front of her, the dragon- Calemira, such a pretty name... she had sat down onto her rump, moving her wings around quite a bit only to have revealed an object that seemed to be hidden with her wing talons.

"Yes, Rinecess, I am your dragon, as you are my rider. We are bonded. Rin. Rinecess. Lovely name, my dear human. I have something for you, a gift. I've been told it's customary to present something, like a trinket, upon first bond. I'm not sure why it's a thing, but nevertheless I tried to come up with something unique. I hope you enjoy it."

Amazed by the whole ordeal, Rin watched as Calemira handed her a bone. At first she hesitated, not because of the present, but the fact she was taking something out of a dragon's hand. However, she soon gently took it from the talons of Mira. It wasn't a simple bone, no. It seemed to have been polished, jewels embedded into it, along with a beautiful piece of artwork engraved onto it. Some may have found this gross, as it obviously came from some sort of animal, she didn't know what or what part of the body it came from, but it was probably best she didn't know that part. Not that it'd make this gift any less special, she just... didn't need to know its origin.

"You could probably turn it into the hilt of a weapon, or shape it into smaller pieces for jewelry if you wanted. Or simply keep it as is, but, either way, I hope it is to your satisfaction, little one."

Nodding, and smiling, Rin looked up to the dragon, "It truly is beautiful.. the engravings are absolutely gorgeous." Glancing back down towards the bone that lied in her hands, she smiled warmly, running her thumbs across the engravings. It actually.. felt nice that someone would give her a gift, not knowing what she was like, nor caring if they knew. Maybe the dragons needed to present a gift to their riders, or if it were a choice. But, it still felt.. nice..

"Thank you."

It had been a very, very long time since Rinecessa had spoken in thanks sincerely. Much too long. It felt, a little weird to say, but it still felt as warm.

Noticing movement, Rin looked back to Mira seeing as she took off the shawl that covered her face. "If it isn't to your liking, purpose my eye cover would be. Human women can use them as scarves, or hair covers, or something of the like. I'm sure it would accentuate your hair beautifully as it does my own scales."

"Oh, no, no! I absolutely love this, you can keep your shawl, it would be wrong of me to take something that is personally yours."

She smiled.

Oh! She forgot a about her gift~

Reaching into her back pocket of her trousers, she wrapped her fingers around an odd-shaped object, and carefully pulled it out. Holding it in one hand, as the other held her polished bone.

A golden piece of jewelry, meant for a dragon's hand. First, it would connect to the wrist of the dragon, wrapping around it. Then it draped across the top of their knuckles, with a smooth gold chain, and finally connect to their talons with golden rings. However, it would only connect to 3 of their talons. It was nothing bulky, but it would certainly be visible to anyone a good distance away. Rin held it out into her hand to Mira, smiling faintly. She didn't want to disappoint this dragon. Not this one.

"Here is my gift to you. I do hope you find it lovely, as I think it would match your golden accessories beautifully."

Hartley Russel Barn| Rider | 15 | Male | M: Mircea, Dan (ind), Roxanne (ind), Michael (ind), Valine (ind), Aeolus

Hartley stared at his cousin. Sometimes Cea could be really intelligent. However, this was not one of those times. The boy had stopped a fire dragon. Up close, Hart could see that the dragon was indeed apart of genus Tân. By the horns and markings, he identified him as a Horned Volcano Dragon. They were known to be very emotional creatures whose personality varied widely. There was no way of saving Cea if the HVD (as the dragon geek community often abbreviated) decided to spew. Even if he did jump in front of him the heat would leave life-risking third degree burns on his cousin.

Thankfully, that did not happen. The dragon ended up being a mild creature who actually ended up crying. That was good, a soft fire dragon was rare and it was perfect that Rocky got one. Hart looked over at the earth dragon again as it communicated with Cea. He didn’t realize it but his jaw was agape as his mind processed this information. So much was happening so fast. First Rocky was here, then she got a dragon, Michael made a bitchy appearance (as always), then Cea got a dragon! Wow! He suddenly wished that he had one and would happily bury the science community if I could be picked.

Then the world went crooked…and fell over? Something rough impacted his side and he landed on something hard. Oh, it was earth. The “something” was Cea. What? Why is he on me? A great whip of air passed overhead and he felt the breeze of another dragon pass by. It was so close. A fire dragon. He watched it pass on until it alighted nearby Michael. No, no, no, no, no, Michael cannot be a dragon rider.

“Huh,” he answered Cea, “oh, yeah, I’m fine, sort of. Ow, your knee is stabbing into me. Get off you big oaf.”

He got up and dusted off his clothes. “Mom just washed these. Yeh, yeh, I’ve heard it all and yes! I did take down the braid. How do you like it?” He threw up a handful of hair so that it landed wildly on top of his head.

His attention returned to the unfortunate fire dragon and her rider. He couldn’t help but let out a small, light burst of laughter as Michael toppled over like a puppet. He was curious to see how the fire lizard would react to it, but Cea called him over for him to see his and Rocky’s dragons. He was unable to, however. Before he took yet another step something wrenched him from the ground by his shirt. Cea was right, he should really start paying attention better.

He couldn’t help but scream and it wasn’t a good scream either. It was high pitched like a little girl’s and it seemed to last forever. Even after he was done, he was stuck breathing quickly as one would after a bawl. Some would say that he was hyperventilating. His thoughts were a swirl of words and pieces. A lot of them avoided the word “dragon” actually as his mind still wasn’t comprehending what was happening. Cea is gonna kill me, there are going to be so many knots in my hair after this. Dang, I didn’t get to even say hi to Rocky. I hope that she’s been doing alright…

They landed shortly, just higher up on the valley’s hillside. He stumbled out of the dragon’s embrace and nearly fell, but the creature wasn’t done. It stared at him with its brilliant blue eyes. Hart couldn't help but wiggle uncomfortably. It was as if it was seeing into his mind, reading his thoughts and desires. However, it looked calm. The goat-beard added a bit of a silly touch and charm. Hart ogled at the beast like a baby would at its parents as it began licking his hair. A puff of icy breath created small crystals on his face. An air dragon, Hart thought.

An ache at his temples began to form when a voice entered his mind. He remembered reading about the telepathic ability between a rider and a dragon as the creature spoke. It was a gentle, relaxing voice. As it continued the ache grew worse and Hart was forced to put a hand to his head. Despite this discomfort, he smiled broadly. It looked like he didn’t have to bury the science community after all.. He opened his mouth to answer, but decided to instead use the mind-speak instead. He was curious to how it felt.

I am Hartley Russel Barn and I am glad that I have met you, Aeolus. What a beautiful name, is it after the ancient keeper of the winds from Homer? Oh, why thank you, I’m sure my mother would agree. He had heard about the protectiveness of dragons before, but he was shocked that his dragon was already bonded with him that he was willing to fight for him. Oh, uh, thank you for that, too. For a slight moment he panicked. What should he say? Should he tell him that he’d do the same? Would he actually? It wasn’t smart to lie to a dragon. But would this be a lie?

“I’d run through fire for you, too.” He spoke softly out loud.

He noticed the bag that Aeolus had nudged towards him. This must be the gifts that he had mentioned earlier. He sat down on the grass beside the white air dragon and began to pull out the contents. The first thing he touched was the fang necklace. Hart usually wasn’t one for jewelry, but this was awesome. So he put it on.

“This is incredible. Whose tooth is it?”

He continued to dig around and found the bag of rare stones and promptly thanked him for them. He’d have to dust off some of his geology books and study them later. He also picked up the cartage of ink. It was good ink from a notable brand and he’d have to use it wisely. Finally the last two things remained. He had felt them earlier and had hoped that they were books, but he hadn’t yet dared to see in case his hopes would be crushed. After all, what kind of books did a dragon own? He pulled both out at the same time and he wasn’t disappointed, far from it actually.

“Wow.” Hart breathed. He had only dreamed of owning such extensive copies.

He felt like squealing and jumping up and down, but he contained it. Instead he carefully opened the first one up. The cover depicted a nesting water dragon and was titled Common to Rare Dragon Species A to M. The second one, Common to Rare Dragon Species N to Z, depicted two male fire dragons butting heads on the cover. They were each organized into the different classes and he felt his heart skip a beat.

He looked up at his generous dragon and hugged him around the neck firmly. This is the best day of my life. You are marvelous and I couldn’t have dreamed up someone better. He released his grip and smiled up at the creature.

“I didn't think I’d picked, so I didn’t bring much.” He shuffled his shoes. He had been given great gifts and had nothing really to give back. He remembered the bag that he had thrown at Michael. What had been in it? Books, but also a small bag of muffins that he and Cea had made earlier. They’d be smushed now, but it was the best he had unless the dragon was interested in books. “I left it down there.” He gestured towards where he had been.

Hiroshi Evergreen||Rider||Male||17||M: Agneya

Hiroshi was shocked when he heard Agneya. He said "Actually i do have a gift for you. Im sorry i forgot i don't get to see dragons." Hiroshi dug around in his pockets before hitting it. He grabbed a hold of it before saying "I know it won't be much but i hope you like it."

Hiroshi had gotten the gift a few days before the choosing ceremony because he was super excited. He had turn his attetion back to her when she had spoken. Hiroshi had gottten Agneya a golden necklace with a peral as a stone. He got it for free because his dad made it. Hiroshi's father is a black smith.

The necklace is big enough to fit a dragon but light enough to keep in his pocket. Hiroshi smiled and persented the necklace to Agneya while saying "Im sorry for getting distacted but you are pretty the way your scales shine i haven't seen that before." Hiroshi looked at Agneya and said "Your name is Agneya right?" He wasn't quite sure of the dragons name but somehow the name felt right.

Lira Wild-heart||16||Rider||Female||M: Dawn,Terra(ind), Isabel(ind)

Lira had finally finished running and reached the middle. She didn't know excatly where Terra and Isabel was. Lira had noticed Dawn say something before she had left and said "Im Lira and your so pretty." She was exicted that she had an air dragon to ride. Lira smiled then said "So how old are you?"

Lira has always been curious and never really likes to share her phobias. She has loved heights it was just something that let her free from her worries. Lira looked at Dawn before sitting right next to her. She felt safe with Dawn. She figured it may be becaue of their bond.

Vivienne Moore

Rider | 17 | F | M: Vasuki, other dragons, and riders

The young girl was too distracted by her new possession to notice her dragon looking away, Vivienne was considering where she should keep the amethyst when she felt her braid lift off of her head. Vasuki had picked it up with his claw before dropping it back down, seemingly surprised it stayed in place, and now seemed more amused, asking her about the braid. Vivienne was honestly surprised it stayed in place as well, she had made it tight, though after some time it would start to slip out.

The longest she had managed to get one to stay in away about a day. I did make it actually. She nodded, smiling at the comment. Vivienne nearly laughed as the dragon tried out variations of their name, his tone changing to a more light, amused version. It was a nice change compared to the more hostile one he had initially. It was fun to see the dragon bobbing his head in such a way. I do like Vasuki and Vivienne. She decided, relieved once he confirmed that she wasent crazy, and was in fact, talking with him seemingly telepathically.

It was such a fascinating experience, Vivienne hadnt known much about bonding to start with, but experiencing it now was a once in a lifetime opportunity. She could still hardly believe it was actually happening, let alone with such a rare class of dragons.

Vasuki seemed pleased at her reaction to receiving his gift, his tails gave off a rattling noise as she pulled his gift out. He seemed delighted as she held the necklace in front of him, at the mention of her putting it on his horns, she nodded, carefully reaching up to put it around one of the horns that seemed as if it wasent a part of his skull. Her hands trembled a bit, not wanting to accidentally bump the skull he had on.

The necklace fit her loosely, and she feared it might fall if it they just placed it on his horn, so she made a small knot it the end of it. Should he wish to take it off, all he needed to do was have her pull one of the ends of the chain and it would come loose. She wasent positive he could reach it himself, so she made it similar to a slip knot so it could be pulled off. Let me know if I need to adjust it. Vivienne added, taking a small step back to gaze up at the dragon. I quite like it on you.

Vasuki
Dark Dragon || Masculine || Mentions: Mira, Vivienne, Rinecess
Indirectly Mentions: Hartley

Nostrils flaring, a sound warbled out from the center of his throat. At the moment, his movements were like that of a cat. Slow, lazy, and a tad hectic based on the way he begun inspecting Vivienne's hair once more, swatting it like a feline. He had sat onto his rump, his stature only increasing in height as he sat slumped over, watching her.

But oh? Did she not have anywhere to store her amethyst? How saddening, perhaps he shall find her a satchel next. Indeed! A lovely leather one, made from a cow, or perhaps a goat! He would begin his search as soon as possible. Possibly steal someone off of someone and- Oh? Was that a young man with one near a cluster of dragons? What a lovely style it was! He would most definitely approach that boy later.

Vasuki and Vivienne it shall be! His suddenly boomed, content with the bond so far. She was even careful around his helmet! As she should be. It took all of the poor male's willpower not to release a snarl in her direction. But, after she had wrapped it around, he had settled down, content with his new possession.

It's lovely. Truly lovely. Such fine material. Very well kept. He began to assess. It's a strong chain. I think it will hold, don't you think it will hold? Say, what knot did you do, it's so sturdy...

Vasuki was a collector, it only made sense that he assessed everything he came across. With a swift movement, he had raised his paw, his claws fiddling with the necklace upon his chosen horn, tapping it. He quite liked the sound it made, too. Oh, he simply had to show Mira! Turning to Vivienne, a wicked grin beseeched his pointed face.

Come, let's meet the others, he announced.

Without another word, his body came crashing down on all fours again, his head scooping beneath Vivienne in one movement so that it forced her upon his neck (he had retracted his spikes so he didn't impale her. That would be unfortunate). Seconds later, he had begun running forward once more, this time, with his poor rider, who was most likely bobbing around and holding onto him for dear life. On he ran, weaving through people. He didn't care much if he stepped on them. Rather, he expected them to get out of his way. If he crushed them, well, what a pity.

"Mira!" He chimed upon nearing, practically shoving her own rider down in the process of his sudden halt. Behind him, his tails had knocked individuals to the ground, to which he glared at them, as if it were their faults. Lowering his head in one swift movement, he allowed Vivienne to step off (if she hadn't fallen off in the process). "Mira, Mira look." Lowering his horn, he practically shoved them in the light dragon's face, hardly acknowledging anyone else.

"Do you see it? Isn't it pretty?" Batting his eyelids, he had pushed his horns more towards her until they were nearly touching her snout. However, the position didn't last long. Raising his head, it was then when he finally realized that they weren't alone. No, it wasn't simply himself, Vivienne, and Mira, but another. Slowly, he turned to Mira's rider, narrowing his eyes at her before releasing a snort in her direction. She was shorter, suitable for Mira. That was good. At least the fates had gotten that part correct. Did he like her? He had yet to decide. For now, he remained warily side eyeing her, shifting away with distaste. And, when nobody was looking, he had even flashed her a singular tooth.

Hmph, that would show her.

Show her what? Well, he hadn't thought of what exactly, but that wasn't the point.

He then shifted his gaze to Mira's gift, the one that her rider had given to her. A loud, audible gasp sounded from him, his nostrils flaring once more. It was beautiful! A piece of jewelry suited perfectly for Mira! It was.. it was prettier then anything he had given her. Oh, the pain, the horror! He had been outgifted! How could such a horrid thing happen? The humiliation! The pain! The jealousy.

"I don't like it," he voiced, clearly upset.

So tacky, he had spoken to Vivienne, nearly choking back his frustration. Of course it wasn't tacky, it was stunning, but he couldn't admit it! To admit it aloud would mean defeat! And was that.. real gold? How could she! Of course, Vasuki wasn't jealous that he didn't recieve the gift. No, he was very fond of his own. He was moreso upset that he wasn't the one to gift it.

So, like a child, he stood there, sulking with a frown upon his face.

Kavik Forger || 18 || Rider || M: Cernunnos, Others (Ind)

Never -- never -- had Kavik's jaw come loose in a moment of any emotion. Not anger, not shock, not horror -- and yet here he was, now, in the middle of a massive congregation of humans and dragons alike, with his mouth slightly agape. Granted, it was not much of a change from a fully closed mouth, but it was enough that Kavik's subconscious actions shocked him. The dragon had approached him. He'd spoken to Kavik.

The young man was sure he had to be the only person in the whole kingdom who had never really shown an interest in dragons, yet here he was, and this particular dragon had just done something to him. Kavik couldn't quite tell what he was feeling. His gut lurched violently and his legs almost buckled beneath him. Kavik's ears rang louder than they ever had, and his vision disappeared. When he regained control over his basic bodily functions, Kavik found himself looking into large, bright orange eyes set in a crocodillian face, less than a foot away from his own. He was completely dumbfounded.

He'd been chosen to ride a dragon? Him? Were it not for the lingering discomfort in his head, he would have thought it had been some sort of joke. Though, who would ever have the gumption to put a regal creature such as a dragon up to a scheme with that level of pettiness? No, this was very, very real. The rumble of the dragon's next words snapped Kavik back to reality like no other wakeup call had before.

"My... name."

Kavik. Cernunnos Capakan... Kavik. Good grief, I'm going to forget that and then I'm going to have to ask for his name again -- Kavik -- no, no, I'll just avoid saying names. My name is Kavik. That's okay, people forget my name and I don't care that much. But Kavik is only two syllables... Name is Kavik... Cernu... Cirrus... Capricorn? Cirrus Cappricorn? Dammit, I've already forgotten it. But it's still at least five syllables. Oh, I am such an idiot. What did he ask again?

Kavik's thoughts were going at such a speed that he could barely keep track of anything that was going on around him. He had to force his mind to come to a screeching halt and then backtrack a couple of minutes until he could recall what Cer -- yeah, that'll work for now -- had asked.

Oh, yeah. His name.

Duh.

"I'm, uh, Kavik. Kavik Forger, but... just Kavik."

Wow, could he destroy his first impression any more than he already had? His head was still spinning and his mind was still reeling from the snap of the bond being made; everything was going in circles, including Kavik's thoughts. He was back to wondering about name syllables, and whether or not Capikan was Cernunnos' last name -- or did he just have two first names? Or one first name that was two words? How did dragons even pick their names?

It occurred to him that several other riders and dragons were exchanging gifts, and his hands shot into his satchel of goods he had made to sell, frantically searching for a suitable gift of his own. He felt like a child who had shown up to a celebration unaware that an offering was required for passage into the festivities. Oh, this'll do. Hopefully. His fingers locked around a rather thick gold chain with amber setting stones scattered along its length. It was technically a necklace, though Kavik doubted it would ever be anything more than a bracelet, if that, for ... his ... dragon.

"You, um, well, if it's too... You don't have to take it if you don't want it. It was... last minute."

More like last second.

The only thing that resonated with sound assurety was this: his day, and any plans he may have had -- any plans that the blacksmith may have had for him -- they were all thrown into the wind.
