I see a lot of controversial stuff about them. Would anyone get one for a family member or themselves? As like a mature adult who doesn't need one for a certain purpose but just because they want one?

Jasper Sterling
Rider // Female // M: Peter

Jasper didn't know much about Peter. Besides the fact that he is deaf, so when Peter did some sort of foreign hand gesture, Jasper was forced to guess what he was saying.
"Uh, hi," the woman smiled kindly, "let me get you out."
She knew very well that Peter couldn't hear her, but she hoped the idea of someone speaking to him would help set a calmer mood.

"You know, that bell saved your life," she said continuing to speak.
Jasper tried to grab the mattress and lift it up, but it was difficult to maintain a sturdy grip. Her fingertips kept slipping off with every attempt.
"Give me one sec," was what she said before leaving the room to find something to help pry the mattress up.

A chunk of a doorframe sat waiting to be used. Quickly Jaz grabbed the wooden frame and pried the heavy mattress off of Peter.
Her hand was held out, to help the red headed male, "We must get going, if we wanna live."

Apopis
°
"Ao" [] Male [] Venom Dragon [] M: Fathom, Whistler (ind)
°
Though he had avoided the crumble of rocks in his personal cavern, the cave exit was still piled up. As a small dragon with no crazy magic, there wasn't much he could do. He stretched his back, arching it like a cat in the morning. His eyes surveyed the surrounding dragons, each doing their own thing in an attempt to escape. One in particular stood out to him. Over in one corner were two wind class dragons, Whistler, a loud and quite obnoxious little thing, and Fathom.
°
He was a large grey dragon with striking yellow eyes, even if Ao stood straight and had decent posture, Fathom would tower nearly double his height. He watched the two curiously, more interested in watching the other dragons than doing anything himself. It was unlikely he'd be able to help anyway. Suddenly, the wind dragon rushed towards the rocks and scraped at them. Apopis watched as his wounded claw bled and bent as he pounded it against the rocks.
°
He couldn't watch it any longer, he wasn't cruel, no one could watch that joyfully.. well some could, but not him. He walked up towards Fathom, silently, like always, and making it a point to hold himself higher than his usual stealthy posture, measuring him at a good 9 feet. As he approached the dragon, he didn't slow his clawing. It wasn't until Ao got right at his side that he said anything, possibly startling him. "You're already injured.. you need to let yourself heal, you can't help anyone if you're bleeding out from your own stupidity." Maybe it came out a little too harsh.. his social skills weren't amazing to say the least. Nevertheless, he had to say something.

Peter M. Evans // 17 // M // Rider // M: Jasper

There was effort made from the woman at the very least. The way she at least gave him some sort of smile. While he couldn't exactly hear what she was saying, he could somewhat read the words she was saying. Reading lips was far harder than reading sign language. Something about a greeting, it looked like either hi or possibly even hello.

But he did recognize the second half of that sentence. That was what he had been hoping to see. The relief of being able to stand up on his own, take in and see what was really going on. As she moved on, he couldn't really see what she was saying anymore, simply staying put for a moment or two.

Every time the mattress slipped from Jasper's fingers sent a jolting shiver of panic through the young man--waiting for the morbid moment that the frame shattered under the mattress and made things even worse.

Thankfully, she had found a better way to help him out from the rubble of what had been the dorm room. She stated something about going and wanting to live.

His emerald eyes flicked toward the other side of the room, now buried mostly under what had likely been the ceiling. As he thought, silently, his thumbs bounced against each other--as if to say uhm or something of that sort.

Peter could try and sign for Kieran... but the way the rubble looked... the way it all just seemed so... destroyed. But it wasn't the only thing that looked that way. The experienced riders dorm... that sanctuary had all but been reduced to sheer pebbles.

The fires that reached out toward the inky dark sky, veiled in smoke, gave light to the rest of the rubble. His emerald gaze trailed finally toward the mountain that held their winged companions.

He brought his thumb and forefinger to his lips before curving downward--as if to resemble a beak--with the shape of an 'r' letter signed.

Whistler.

The young man repeated the gesture and then pointed to the mountain, watching Jasper intently for her reaction.

Storm Dragon | Male | Mentions: Others at The Exit

The storm dragon watched and listened as others spoke and inspected the rubble, and even as a few dragons tried clawing at the rocks or pushing them aside. The ones doing so were seemingly smaller dragons, or at least slimmer in stature than himself and a few of the others. A quiet rumble rose in the males chest, staring at the debris. If he wasn't so concerned about the stability of the cave, he'd blast it to pieces. Even so, as the psyche dragon began lifting the rocks, a low rumble began in his chest, and his crown of horns began a dull glow, steadily growing brighter and slowly seeping into the other spikes along his back.

"If we could somehow ensure the stability of the ceiling," he said, voice low and raspy. "I could blast it open with lightning. Otherwise, I agree, we dig." He took a long step forward, weight resting on his wings still. "Once we start to get a hole, slimmer and smaller dragons," he turned his face, framed in an electric blue light the same shade as his eyes, towards a few he had seen around earlier. "You go through to the other side and start digging on that side. Even if you think you can't do much, anything is better than nothing."

With nothing left to say, the large male took up a place in front of the blocked entrance, glowing spikes making the rocks and the gaps far more visible. He left room for any of the larger dragons that wished to join him, specifically the legless venom dragon, and the significantly older fire dragon that had stepped aside, if he could fit beside them all, that is.

He waited only long enough for Raija to lift the top layer of rocks before he fully set his weight onto his wings and hind legs, using his forelegs to dig, as the psyche and venom dragons had instructed they do.

Isadora Montcroix
Dragon Rider || Female || Mentions: Skaista (dir.)

The young dragon rider was asleep peacefully in her comfortable bed, curled up in a fetal position with her arms wrapped around one of her pillows. Her sides rose and fell steadily, her breathing calm, and her body relaxed. It was all peaceful to her, enjoying the sleep she deserved after working hard today by not dying on her first day of flying. Truly. It's a tiresome thing to experience. Isadora's head jerked up when she heard the explosion, angrily muttering in her sleep, "Damn pranksters. Why can't they wait until tomorrow?" She buried herself deeper into her bedding, about to enter another deep sleep, until she heard the sound of people screaming and the clanging sound of weapons slamming into each other. That's when Isadora shot out of bed, fully awake now, and the pupil in her eyes were wide. It wasn't out of fear but of exhilaration. She leaped out of bed and landed clumsily on her feet, nearly falling to the floor before quickly regaining her footing. "They're fighting without me!?! Bunch of cheeky bastards." She hissed under her breath, storming to her wardrobe to get into proper attire.

She slips on a plain tunic and work pants, then boots without haste. She has little time to daddle with dress-ups when there's a battle happening outside her dorm building. Usually, she was unbothered by this whole thing and would find a way to avoid this conflict. Despite that, her mind had been screaming at her lately to do something, like doing a few pushups, tossing someone out the window, learning how to bake, punching someone in the guts, taking a relaxing stroll in the woods, or slamming someone into a wall. Her brain had been stuffed with books, and her body was restless with sitting all day. That built-up energy was getting to her, making her adrenaline rise ever before. Isadora cracks her knuckles, getting her fist ready for whatever may try to attack her. A ravenous look in her eyes of two while her lips remained unmoving, only twitching ever so slightly. Her eyes went to her roommate, her lips thinning in brief disappointment, "Babysit the roommate or go out there and fight. Babysit or fight. Guard. Attack." She scoffs, her fingers in her hair to fix it. Her clothes may look horrendous, but she'll be damned if she goes outside this room with unkempt hair. "I hate making decisions, especially with morals and needs." She tsked, shaking her head, then approached her roommate.

"Listen," her tone demanding and firm, points at her, "I'm going out there. You can stay here and hide wherever or," she gestures with her head to the door, "you can leave this room and follow me. Do be aware that I'm keen on joining in the fight." Isadora turned on her heel, marched over to the door, and grabbed the handle, "I won't be responsible if you ge-" When she yanked the door open, a masked figure was standing in the doorframe with a sword in hand. Gen ducks to the side as they swung their sword at her, then gave their gut a not-so-pleasant greeting with her fist. They stumbled forwards and gagged for air, Isadora grabbing the back of their head then slamming it into the bedroom floor twice. She waits to see if the person is unconscious before dragging the masked person to the window, then proceeds to toss them out. She didn't care that she broke the dorm's window. She can always say it shattered in the battle, which is somewhat true. Isadora rips a piece of fabric from her shirt and ties it around her hand before grabbing a glass shard. Without waiting for her roommate, she bolts out of the room, heading towards the armory to get a proper weapon.

Sedna Nurul Seelen
Dragon Rider | Male | Mentions: Fergus, Maisie, Jasper

The man dropped his hand to his side as Fergus pulled himself free, instead deciding to keep his head on a swivel, in case the attack wasn't just explosions. He doubted it would be, anyone that dared attack the academy on this scale and hope that some explosions would kill every dragon and their rider. The dagger at his hip found itself resting in his palm, not that it would do a huge amount against an armored soldier, but it was better than nothing.

Sedna's attention turned to Fergus, blinking slowly as he listened, before nodding. "Armory, armory is good, we'll need our saddles," he said softly, flexing his fingers and looking up and down the hallway. He raised the hand not holding the dagger and lightly put it on Fergus' shoulder for a few moments, face drawn and serious. "Be careful, there's more than likely soldiers around, and you need to stay alive. Stay low and out of sight where you can, try to get to the armory, there's likely others there or on their way there."

The dark skinned man then looked back at Maze, taking in her injury, and that Jasper had run off, presumably in search of whoever was ringing the bell. Gods, where was Kaia? The squad leader would be so much better to handle this and take the lead. If he was even alive at the end of all this. Shit, he'd have to comfort K'issuk if Kaia was dead, hang around her maybe. Or, maybe, Sedna would just be a bad reminder of the rider she had lost.

"Maze, will you come with me to look for others?" He asked, jerking his chin in the direction that Jasper had run off in. "Jasper's likely gone and found Peter, he always has that damn bell on, and we don't know what condition their room is in, or if Kieran is okay and alive either."

Cyprus Thayne

Rider || Female || Mentions: Geneviève, Melinoe, Enemy Soldiers

“Oh yeah, enemies.” Cyprus winced at the thought. It hadn’t crossed her mind yet that those responsible for all the wreckage were probably still lurking around, but now that the idea was out there she was certain her roommate was right. “Woo-hoo!” She offered a quiet, weak sounding cheer, raising her fist half-heartedly in the air as she followed Geneviève out into the hall. Cyprus crept behind her companion, grateful for all the adrenaline pumping through her body and helping her ignore her aches and pains. Her whip was coiled in her right hand, ready to use at a moment’s notice. It wasn’t a typical weapon of choice and somewhat unassuming, but Cyprus was quite the menace with it. It was made with high quality plaited leather 6 feet long and at the end was a weighted leather piece that formed a long diamond shape, ironically called a ‘dragon-tail’. The handle was sturdy wood with a leather grip, and featured a rounded pommel reinforced with metal to both help with grip and was also good for bashing skulls.

Cyprus met Geneviève’s gaze as the other looked back, suggesting they try to contact their dragons. “Alright, I guess it’s worth a shot.” Turning her attention inwards for a moment, she shoved her mind out in the direction of the Western Keep, striving to connect with Melinoe’s mind. Melinoe! She shouted inwardly. Mel! I hope you’re okay and you can hear me. There’s been an attack, if you don’t know already, and I’m trying to get out of here with Geneviève. We’re making our way through but I don’t know what we’ll find. Contact me as soon as you can! Cyprus refocused on what was in front of her, following after her roommate once again. She was doubtful that her attempt to contact Melinoe worked, but it hadn’t hurt to try. Well, that wasn’t completely true. Her head still felt like she had been run over by a stampede of starving dragons fighting over a meal.

When Geneviève started climbing Cyprus opted to stay on ground level, watching her back. She alternated between looking around the burning, wrecked dorms to glancing up at her roommate. She had heard others in the hall before, and though their voices had faded Cyprus didn’t think they would have gone too far. Hopefully they could catch up soon. It wasn’t long before Geneviève was back down, and something on her face told Cyprus that what she saw wasn’t good.

“Armory, good. Yes, good plan!” Cyprus nodded several times. “There we can probably hole up long enough to figure out what’s happening with the dragons. Alright I swear I could hear some people this way.” She gestured with her thumb over her shoulder, before turning and jogging in that direction. “Hopefully they’re friends, and not foes.” She murmured almost as an afterthought. Though she tried to keep a quicker pace Cyprus was still careful, trying not to make too much noise. She also poked her head into some of the dorms as they went along, checking for others. When they reached a corner Cyprus slowed, creeping to the edge of the wall as she loosed the coils of her whip, letting its length silently fall to the ground as she gripped the handle. Slowly she peeked around the corner.

A second went by, then Cyprus whipped her head back behind the wall. “Okay so. Definitely not friends. There’s a group of say, five or six people in full armor down the hall, looking in rooms and stuff.” She told Geneviève, blue eyes troubled. “Luckily they didn’t see me, but they do seem to be making their way towards us. What do you think we should do? Head back the way we came or…” Cyprus lifted an inquisitive eyebrow. “Perhaps stage an ambush…?” If they could get a good drop on them, Cyprus was confident she could take one or two down with a well-placed throwing knife or snap of her whip before they knew what hit them. After that she wasn’t the best close-quarters fighter, but if she could snatch up a sword or something she could hold her own enough not to die. Hopefully.

Sublimus|

Sublimus was woken up by the rumbling outside the mountain, his feathers felt cold. His eyes fluttered open, he looked around but it was pitch black. He was a bit lazy but the sound and the feeling of the ground shaking woke him up. He couldn’t stand up straight and knew that he needed to get out of there. Nothing was creating light, it was more than just pitch black. It felt like an endless void, Sublimus felt scared by the darkness and bumped into a dragon. “S-sorry.” He didn’t know who it was so he just apologized.

The rumbling and the sound of the earth beneath him scared him more. What was going on? He tried to piece together what was happening outside the mountain, then it hit him. They were under an attack. He went and tried to gather the moon’s light energy but it was just too dark inside. He needed something to glow. He ran up to a wall and stepped on some rocks, he growled as he tried to claw his way out of the cave.

Soon he did and the moon’s light reflected on his white and golden body, he roared as he wanted to find his rider. He looked around himself and huffed. The connection between his rider and himself was weak, he tried to use the moon’s light to help with his illumination but it didn’t work. The light was too weak, he needed the sun. He roared again, desperate for his rider.

Fathom
Wind Class // Male // M: Apopis and Juniper

Dirt dug up his talons, as he continued scratching at the rock. Every swipe left a bloody imprint from his injured claw, which hurt like hell. But Juniper needed him, and he wasn't planning on quitting.

Juniper! I'm coming!

Fathom thought desperately reaching out to his rider. He was so busy worrying about Juniper, that he didn't even notice Ao slipping next to him.
The venom dragon was small in size, definitely small. Ao stood below Fathom's shoulders. If he turned to look at Ao, Fathom most certainly would be facing down.

"Juniper's in trouble," Fathom said not breaking his focus, "I have to get to him."

If he was even alive, Fathom thought sadly to himself.

°
He was caught off guard to say the least. Fathom seemed so worried about his rider, putting himself in harms way. Ao hadn't thought one bit about Isa, she can handle herself fine... though he was worried about the attackers. The shock showed in his face, as the arches above his eyes furrowed. In an animalistic way, his head cocked slightly to the side, and he looked up at Fathom as if studying him. He stared for just a few seconds, genuinely wondering about him.
°
Apopis flicked his tongue as his ears twitched, he finally let out a huff through his nostrils and looked at where the Wind dragon was digging at. Blood dirtied the stones. "Look.. You're barely affecting the stone at all, you're just digging into your own claws." He said as he nudged his snout under the ankle of Fathoms injured claw, stalling his frenzied digging. He looked up at the dragon, seeing the stress in his facial expression. But doing this would help no one, and only harm himself. "It's best to rest right now, that way when those dragons over there get it cleaned up, you'll be ready to save Juniper."
