"Pierce..." I begin, then stop. "It's just Skylar. And we both know we can probably shift the monster too." My tail lashes, and I stare at them all. Alex, hiding under a blanket. Skylar, my crush, maybe even my boyfriend, who shifted a monster. Pierce, snarling in a corner. And me, messed up and snarling at them all.

"I know what he looked like, but this is Skylar, not your brother!" I hiss. But in the back of my mind, I wonder. Is it possible to shift a person? I push this thought away. This has to be Skylar. I pad up to him and roll over submissively. "I know how you feel. These creatures... one killed my family too! I was ALONE for YEARS! No one in my family cared about me except my parents. Do you think that was fun? You know, Skylar's mom got taken by these monsters. Can we stop arguing and worry about that?! He doesn't need to go through what we did." I curl up, pain flooding through me. I don't want anyone else to feel what I felt-feel.

I stand up and turn to a human." It's fine Lyka. If Pierce doesn't want me here I'll go." I turn into a leopard and start running towards Pierce's brother I turn into a monster and tell him." It's fine now. Do you know where my mom is? I know you only want to see your brother but can't get out of this form." I start walking towards the forest Pierce's brother following me

My mouth gapes open and I think/tell Lyka, I told you, hes a monster! He KNOWS my brother! My SAVAGE brother! I grit my teeth in a snarl as Skylar runs off with my brother.

"I was what, 6? Maybe 9 when my family was killed? Now I'm 13, almost 14. I found this school last year. So at least four years. Maybe more. I got shot once, caught in a trap once..." I start pacing, hoping it will make me feel better, less hurt and stressed. Then, I flinch. Wait. "Skylar!" I scream. He's already walking away, toward the woods, toward danger.

I run over to Lyka, wrapping my arms protectivly around her. "I told you would protect YOU. Skylar- or at least maybe Skylar knows what hes doing. I know we both think this is all wrong, ut we might as well deal with what we got." I look down at her, and think without wondering if she can here me. Its okay. We'll get through this, together. I hug her tighter.

"No!" I say, trying to wriggle away. "I can't let him go alone! Especially with your brother!" I howl, my wolf voice scratchy with pure fear. Even if he doesn't like me, even if he hates me, I still love him.
