I shift a bit farther from Alex, not wanting her to her this. "Um... I remember how I got my scar..." I pet her back and look down at her eyes, shaking.

I change my mind and shift to a human, looking him in the eyes and holding his hands. "What happened?" Whatever it was, it obviously isn't good, especially if he sent Alex away. I realize that I am so anxious I still have a wolf tail.

"I remember my mom screaming. And a howl. I remember running through the woods, and seeing blank white eyes..." I pause, shaking my head, but I kept talking. "The... creature chased me. I think it-" I closed my eyes and let the tears fall yet again. "I think it killed my family. All of them. Right then and there. I barely made it out alive." I ducked my head and wrapped an arm around Lyka.

"Oh Pierce..." I whispered. "I know just how that feels." My parents had been killed by a mountain lion, and I'd only escaped by shifting into a tiny sparrow and squeezing into a small hole in a boulder. The rest of my family members had wanted nothing to do with me, because of my powers. It had happened when I was nine, and I'd lived alone in the woods till I turned 12. Then I found the magic school.

I snuggle into his fingers, and chirp contentedly. "Hate to mess up this moment, but doesn't it seem weird? I mean, those students outside haven't come in, and there haven't been any monsters at all. Wouldn't there have at least been one?" My grayish wings tremble. What if these monsters are so sneaky that we're already surrounded?

"I kind of just... wandered, for maybe, what, three years? I found out I had the powers when I shifted to a wolf for the first time. I freaked me out, but now im kind of glad I have them." I sigh, and squeeze her hand, as if she might float away.

I snuggle up against him a bit. "Yeah? I'm so sorry. That sounds horrible." I sigh, staring off the ledge. My memories are coming back too, especially of everyone who chased me away. That was why I was so protective of my friends. I didn't want anything like that to happen to anyone else, ever.

I look down at her, wondering if right now wold be a good time to kiss her or something. "What did you do after you were chased off?"
