That with who eats first was just me checking that information since I heard from other people who have farm animals that they often take care of them first thing in a day ^^
Advices for dogs are different since they are pack animals and who eats first is important to determine dominance, so yeah doggos last ^^""""
I think there is no debating with cats, for them it's sleep or eat time.
So, do you get hungry in the meantime or it's okay for you to eat that late in a day? (Actually I dunno if that's late for Americans cause I think your schools and jobs start at 9am, while in Europe we are at school and jobs at 8am so to us 9am is kinda late for breakfast X3 do you know why Americans start they day one hour later? I don't think it's bad, just different)
--------
That about hooves is interesting :o I know horses need pedicure, but if goats get it too does it mean all similar animals need that kind of care too? Also fun fact maybe X) in my language we have two different words for hooves-cause goat hoof is not as compact as horse hoof so our language just has two words, one for each type. And why humans need to take care of hooves since I don't think animals in wild do that kind of stuff?
----------
And how many kids you expect in total ^^ ? I think I heard of some goats having even up to 4 in one pregancy.

What do you mean by that? I know some mares don't like/need assitance so they shoo humans away, is it similar with goats ^^ ?

It was just a joke haha. Though I did have one girl wack me in the head once for picking up her baby. We have a lot of goats that don't appreciate us being near their babies but none of them get aggressive. Except that one, but it wasn't too bad.

Hurry,
1) I don't get hungry in the meantime because it just takes like 5 minutes to feed them, then I'm off to make myself breakfast. As for the day starting later in America, I think that's more of a new thing. Up until this year, my school has started at 8 am, but I think there's a new law (in California, at least) that states it can't start until 9 am 😢. I'm not really complaining, though, I get to sleep in! :D
Edit: I guess it is pretty common for workplaces to open at 9, though, so I don't know.

2) I think all animals with hooves need some kind of regular care, but I'm not certain. I've only really known goats and horses :'). As for why people do it, it's because (for horses) we ask things of them they wouldn't be doing in the wild, such as walking on paved roads and stone paths, and carrying us on their backs. For goats, it's really just because thier hooves get worn down more in the wild than they do in their pens. In the wild, they'd be climbing mountains and rocks and playing around more than they do here.

3) As for how many kids, going based off size, I would expect 3-4 from Catalina just because she's so huge already. Destiny's fluffy, so it's hard to tell how large she is, but I'd say she'll have 2, and Stella's early on, so her size is hardly showing, if at all. The record from a doe is 7 kids. 1 + 3 kids is pretty normal, 2 kids is the most common, and 4-5 is uncommon

Their previous owner has said that Catalina's a good mother, and she's already a brat, so it's possible she won't like us near the babies. (but she doesn't have the power to stop us >:D) I can't imagine Destiny being aggressive about us near her babies, and I've heard that Stella is a bad mother, so she will probably want us to take them away. XD

Sorry I haven't posted any images recently, but it's been storming here, and I mean thunder and lightning storming. We only get storms like this during the winter, and, even then, they're few and far between. Anyway, the goats are all huddling in the shed anyway, and I'm not willing to freeze to get some pictures at the moment. XD Maybe it will have cleared up by tomorrow, but it's been going strong for two days.

For an update: Catalina is looking HUGE, and she's eating tons, so I'm hoping she's got triplets (fingers crossed). Destiny looks pretty healthy, and I'm expecting twins from her. Stella has grown a bit, and isn't coming into heat, so I think this time might have worked. If it did, she's still too small to get an estimate on how many she's got.

And why humans need to take care of hooves since I don't think animals in wild do that kind of stuff?

Hi there! Sorry if this is kind of out of the blue but I've been reading/watching this thread for a while and since ruminants/hooved livestock are my area of expertise, I thought I'd offer up what I know.

Most domestic hooved animals (cattle, horses, goats, sheep, etc.) require hoof maintenance to some degree. This is usually due to the fact that they don't live on the same type of surface that their wild counterparts do so their hooves are not worn down as fast. I've personally worked with all of the species I listed above and in varying set-ups.

For cattle, the dairy breeds often need more foot care than beef strictly due to the fact that they are often housed in barns on soft bedding whereas a decent amount of beef cattle are allowed to roam or are housed in part on concrete which wears the hooves down appropriately. Beef cattle are also bred to be heftier so feet and legs are crucial to a good herd and a successful operation. That's not to say that dairy aren't bred for good feet and legs though, they still need to stand and everything. To my knowledge, beef cattle are usually only trimmed/checked at preg check or if there is an issue.

In horses, it depends mostly on their housing. My gelding is housed outdoors on pasture with some rocky patches and barefoot and he can go for months without needing a trim. However, I've known horses that can go near lame if they miss a regular trim and I had a pony with laminitis years ago that needed special care for quite a while. Diet also influences their feet a lot but I'm actually still learning the details of that besides that the sugars in fresh, young grass gives them too much starch.

Goats are actually my favorite and the species that I have the most experience with. My family runs a herd of about 40 Nubians and I personally own 12 of them. We have some that need trims twice a year and one that, due to a high worm load and related issues, has to have hers done every 2-3 weeks to correct badly overgrown feet. With her, we know that diet played a big part as well as exercise restriction and weight.

I have less experience with sheep than the other species but I do know that their feet are checked annually during shearing at least if not more often.

Hope that helps!

Saphira,
Thanks! That's all really interesting. ^^
On the topic of hooves, I really have to get my girls done, but they haven't been on the stand for a while, so I fear they'll give me trouble. >.<

Anyway, I took them on a walk today, and Destiny and Catalina are definitely pregnant, in case I couldn't tell before. XD (Destiny + Catalina are just over 3 months along, so less than 2 months til babies!! Stella is about a month along.)

@Saphira's Cave-that helps plenty :D I had a feeling terrain was part of an answer, but I had no idea that diet also affects it
