If the wolves say sad as there mood it means a wolf has died and there grieving.
If you mean low pack happiness itÂ’s because there hungry, thirsty, bad affinity, or low dominance. ^^

Try look at their affinity, as Golden said, also try staggering dominance levels to different numbers. ^^
