Fleeing isn't the issue, it was the very high risk of losing multiple wolves on a repeated, lower level for mush and battle XP related reasons

get the autumn wreath from the event shop so they can't flee, then you can keep fighting them even after your pack is defeated/reheals
you'll make the coins back and a couple more
