Callisto scowled over at Finn.
“I was only seeing if she was behind your giant wings.” He quipped back, sinking back into his chair and looking over to Alma. He had to admit, he would much rather eat this meal than sleep right now. His excitement increased as he began serving it up.
Lily’s eyes darted to the door briefly as she heard someone coming, she lifted a hand to push the water from her cheeks and tried to fix her expression. Only there wasn’t enough time before the door was opened and she was met with Alma looking at her from the hallway. A flash of concern rolling over her face and Lily knew she didn’t do a good enough job of fixing herself back up. Slowly she let her legs back down from herself and extended a hand towards the bowl that was offered to her.
“Thank you.” She managed to sniffle out, cradling the bowl close to herself. It smelt lovely, distracting her for the briefest moment before she felt the gentle touch at the back of her head and Lily realised that Alma was brushing her hair. Surprise ran through her, but it was quickly replaced with a warmth that made her want to cry even more.
“It was horrible.” She murmured quietly, her eyes staring down at the food. “I saw the fear in Callisto and thought he was being a coward, but I don’t think he is one.” Lily felt the braid fall gently against her spine and she looked up towards Alma with glassy eyes.
“I want to help Xevon. I do.” Her eyebrows scrunched upwards. “It’s just..I don’t want to lose anyone else to Veles.” Lily’s voice wavered at the end, she knew exactly who she was talking about, but didn’t bother mentioning him by name.
