Luna moved as quick as she could before she heard a growl that sent shivers up her spine. She looked back and saw a creature larger than she had seen before. She bared her teeth, her ears lowered in a threatening way, though she knew it wouldn't do much. The white coated female spotted the den and charged into it before she collapsed, barely inside. A small whimper escaped her as the pain from her shoulder grew.

Hondo's muzzle curled and he bared his teeth. He growled a deafining snarl, his ears stuck to his head in anger and his tail was straight behind him. The bear rose on his hind legs and beared its teeth. It was swinging its paws back and forth trying to scare. Its paws bigger than Hondo's head. He remembered when he was younger. When his parents fought a bear that wandered into their camp. If he could run around its legs and distract it, he could pounced and tear its throat. He circled the bear not showing any fear. But deep inside he could feel his fear beginning to show.

Luna slowly looked towards Hondo and the bear. She gave a low growl, wanting to tell him to just run, but a small wave of light headedness started to wash over her. The white coated female blinked the darkness away and shook her head. "Run! That thing will kill you" she yelled as she started to stand up again. She didnt know why she was getting so concerned for this male, especially since he was from a rival pack. Her face showed that she was concerned, even though she didnt want to show it.

Hondo turned back and looked at Luna when she gave a warning howl. He turned back to the bear. If I run it might go towards her and not to me. I know I am faster than it but I dont know what its thinking. I have to fight it and drive it off. He finnally concluded. He drew his lips back and gave a warning snarl. The bear was not scared but the fur along its spine stood up. Hondo's hackles raised. He was going to fight this bear and win. He thought. He bounded off towards the bear. Running a tight circle around it. The bear, enraged, started swinging its paws. He knew the bear wouldnt kick him because then it would lose its balance. Hondo kept running fast around the bear. Its claws only grazing its fur. Hondo could tell it was getting tired. It lifted up its head, revealing its throat and roared in rage. But not before Hondo pounced sinking his teeth into the soft part of the bears throat. The metallic taste of the bear's blood filled his muzzle, but he wouldnt let go. The bearbwas struggling to breath, and it howled in pain and confusion. Hondo locked his jaws on the creature, but it raised its paws in defense. It's paws slammed into Hondo's side, making him fly off, ripping the skin from the bears throat. He slammed hard into the trunk of a pine tree. Hondo howled in pain, feeling like his insides were broken. He disnt want to stand up, or ever move again. But he stood up through all the pain and went to where Luna was hiding. He collasped in a heap on the floor, exhausted. As the bear collasped, blood spilling everywhere, dead.

Luna ended up making her war farther into the den Hondo showed her. It was far too small for the bear to have gotten into without trying to dig her out. When the sound of fighting was over, Luna slowly tried to look around out of the den, but didnt see Hondo right away. *Did he run off* she thought. She saw the body of the bear, but she didnt dare go near it.

When Hondo walked into the den, he could tell she was scared or just nervous. "I'm right here," Hondo told her in a soothing voice, "I wont abandon you." He layed beside her, his side's still hurting, but he didnt care. He drifted off to sleep.

Luna watched as he seemed to drift off. Fear filled her as she worried his pack would think she attacked him, or lead the bear to him. She knew more now she couldn't call to her pack as it would look even worse if they tried to get to her. Luna was at a loss as to what she could so. She was still too hurt to make it back to her pack.

He was only able to get a couple minutes of deep sleep before starting to wake. His side throbbed but he knew he had to get Luna to her pack. Still he layer there for a few more minutes before finally getting up. As he stood he almost fell but rightened himself. Trying to look strong he said to her, "Luna we must get you back to your pack before sundown or they might start to worry." He knew if her pack didn't see her by sundown they would go to his pack and since he wasn't there they would probably fight. "We need to leave now." He said looking into her eyes.

Luna slowly stood up as she looked at Hondo. "I am sure someone in your pack has already caught my scent. The wind has been getting stronger" she told him. But he was right. She needed to get back to her own pack and make sure they were alright. Her shoulder still hurt her, but she would have to tough it out to get home.

"If you need you can lean on me again. I'm not that hurt so I'll be fine." He said seeing her shoulder. But he had to agree, the wind was picking up. He asumed it was because they were high off the ground on the cliff. "So where is your pack territory exactly? Is there any shortcuts to make our journey faster?" He asked. He knew his territory lasted only a few more rabbit chases from the end of the cliff. Was her territory right next to his or further?
