I think the only reason why I'm surviving so many boss battles now is because I not only have a full explore team, but all of my explorers are past 325 BE because I've been training them to hell the past 2 days

Finn stared back at him with a slightly blank look. After a few moments of just staring, disbelief coated his expression and furrowed his eyebrows together as he took in a deep breath. Callisto was banking on them actually remembering where they lived. Finn had no clue--he didn't even remember what his father's name was to begin with!

"You keep skirting around your plan," Finn finally said, a touch tart as he waved the dagger in his hand toward the pair. "I feel like we should know of this plan first before we decide to go headfirst into running around like chickens with our tail feathers on fire."

Xevon snorted slightly and shook his head. "Are you kidding? Telling you that plan? That's how you would get killed."

"Well, then let's hear it as a back-up in case we all get cornered by Freakshow out yonder without an exit," Finn finally hissed, his feathers rising up--a few of them shedding onto the floor. Xevon raised an eyebrow just slightly. He... was almost impressed that Finn had managed to stress himself out enough to start molting. That was kind of impressive and also slightly worrying.

"We need to locate the door first--"

"We as in all of us or we as in you two?" Finn cut him off, with a little less heat and more of a clarifying tone.

Callisto’s eyes narrowed sharply at the tone that Finntello had adopted, his lip twitching before he settled himself. He was patient but the level that the living were rising to were beginning to wear thin on his calmness.

In fact, when Finn had raised his tone and completely cut Xevon off, his form tensed up. Irritation burning in his eyes.

“All of us. You cannot feel when he is moving around.” Callisto matched the curtness of the winged man, ignoring the stress feathers billowing to the ground. “You need to calm yourself before we go anywhere. Seeing that thing is terrifying, yes. He makes my skin crawl and my blood run cold, but you cannot work yourself up and go out there.” His snapped comment finishing, he looked over towards Lily, a sigh drawing from his lips. She was staring daggers at him.

“Fine. Find the door, we will discuss this theory then. No need to have you both trying to act on it before then.” Callisto raised his hand dismissively towards the room, only to hone his pale eyes back on Finntello.

“Do not raise your voice at him again.” Callisto topped off the conversion, his tone lowered and dripping with warning. Eyes still narrowed, there was no need for any of them to be raising their voices at each other, but in particular it ruffled his feathers that Xevon was being the target of it. However, he simply moved on, turning towards the door to dare a look out into the hallway. Forcing his expression back to neutrality, he poked his head out through the door and looked around the hallway.

Lily’s eyes flashed as she saw Callisto lean towards Finn and mutter his warning before walking off like he had said nothing. His voice matched the link her brain had been trying to form. She still wasn’t whole heartedly sure, but there was something there. Lily knew who that man was.

Shoving down her own turmoil, she turned towards Finn and tipped her head to look up at him. “We can see to this theory of theirs later, let’s just find our way out first. They’re clearly not going to tell us right now.” She tried. “No point in working ourselves up.” Lily tried to offer a sympathetic look, however she wasn’t entirely sure it was coming across right. She wanted to know just as badly as him, but she did not want to push these already irritable ghosts any further. In all respects, they could just up and leave them to their demise, so she felt like she owed them at least a little leeway.

Finn's own chest was rising and falling as he stood up, walking back and forth along the wall. He needed to calm himself? Sure! It was just that easy. His hand swiveled the dagger in hand spinning in over his palm in an attempt to try and get his mind to focus on something else.

Find the door and then discuss the theory. Finn's stomach twisted inside of him as if the plan felt wrong. It felt wrong to him and no matter what he said--he paused as the pale ghost leaned forward and gave him a sharp warning. His eyes sparked briefly, giving him a rather glowering glare in return. His hand curled, tightening his hold on the dagger before he shook his head and scoffed.

"They're used to that thing," he finally said shortly, "finding our way out is a foolhardy mission. How on earth have so many others--before us--tried it and failed spectacularly? Going there? That's how we die. That's how we fail," he insisted and shook his head vehemently. "Because if that thing doesn't kill us, whoever sent us here... they will. That's what my father was trying to avoid by escaping and look at where that got me."

His fist tightened once again before he let out a frustrated and sharp growl, spinning around to whip the dagger across the room, watching it embed itself in the wall on the other side of the room.

A small blue spark jumped from the handle and fizzled out in the artificial lighting.

Lily blinked rapidly as Finntello’s frustration was redirected to her, his lips splitting to try and form some sort of response to the words that were all but falling from his mouth. He held a point, no one else had seemed to make the escape, at least that’s why the ghost’s were implying. There could be another way out but these men had been here for so long, surely they would have uncovered it by now.

She was just about to speak when he spun around and threw the dagger, her shoulders jumped up and she froze on the spot as the blade went flying past her across the room. A short yelp of surprise coming from her before her eyes followed it to where it had embedded itself in the wall. She caught the end of the light that flickered away from the metal and her brow furrowed. Half in bewilderment at the dagger and half in irritation towards Finn. Interesting blade magic light could wait, Finn issue was first.

“That could’ve hit me.” She turned her head back around to look at him, for once a stern expression on her face and it was directed at Finn. “I’m not the one that sent us here, don’t talk to me like I haven’t heard the exact same things you have.” Her head tilted to the side quickly, still looking up to Finn. “If you want to kill it then we need to think of a way to do it, biting my head off is not going to fix anything!” Lily flicked a hand out towards his dagger. “And throwing things around that can literally kill people is childish.” She finished, a small huff of air coming from her before she looked back over towards Xevon, expecting aid.

Callisto’s head zoomed back into the room at the sound of the dagger, his head flitting around to try and find where it was. Why it had been thrown and at what. Then he spotted it in the wall and raised an eyebrow in confusion, that was when he saw Finntello working himself up further.

Lily looked down to the dagger in her own hand and then back up to the one in the wall and finally down to where the ring lay on the floorboards. “Did the others have all these items and still die?” Her question was blunt and to the point, perhaps they did not have all the parts. Maybe some didn’t even have blessings. Maybe they had all the right pieces and they would be the first to get out of here. As for escaping the people that sent them here, that was a problem for future, not so memory-less Lily to figure out.

Finn gave her a small look and shook his head, rolling his eyes ever so slightly. "It would not have hit you," he replied tartly and made his way across the room to take hold of the dagger again.

The only aid that Xevon was ever going to offer was a rather amused expression, his arms crossed over his chest. He waited, silently, watching the young man attempt to pry the dagger from the wall.

"Some did," he confirmed cryptically--mostly because he was one of them. He had all of the things and had bought that locket that Finn had in his pocket. That thing originated with him. But either way, the dagger was not moving.

"Strength, emotions and the likes are abilities," he continued briefly. "That is how the daggers will help you. You have thrown it in anger, in frustration, to remove it... you must be feeling the opposite," he was clearly amused.

"But only some of them have worked together, that some... is you," he went back to Lily's question, settling back. "You've worked together so far, you haven't split up and, surprisingly, you've somewhat listened to our advice. More or less. Now, you have a choice. You can rest here, wait a bit and recuperate--which will allow him time to do the same--or you can get moving now. The choice is yours."

Lily’s eyebrows shot up in surprise at Finntello’s response, her arms crossing over her chest in refusal to acknowledge the outright sass that was being directed towards her. Her jaw dropping a little. Only when Xevon replied did her attention leave her irritated companion and meet his red gaze. At his reveal of how the daggers worked, a puzzled expression lifted to her face. She would have to keep a tight grip on this dagger and not let it lodge into the beast, if it did her fear would have to quickly become its opposite for her to remove it. Noted.

At his offer of their options, her eyes drifted back over to where Finn was still trying to yank the dagger out of the wall. She wouldn’t be surprised if he lifted himself from the ground with his wings and planted his feet on the wall for leverage at this point.

“I don’t think going out there without his dagger is very smart.” She concluded. “He also needs to stop whatever,” She paused to use her hands to gesture over Finn’s form. “This is.”

Callisto was listening to the pair converse, but his eyes were focused on Finntello. It seemed that this winged man also had a fiery temper, except he was better at keeping it at bay, Xevon was not so subtle.

Lily lifted hand and ran it down her face, preparing herself to likely be the recipient of more angry remarks. Begrudgingly, she made her way across the room towards Finn and let out a sigh as she stopped a little bit away from him. Careful to stay out of the dagger’s way in case it came flying out from the wall unexpectedly.

“Finn.” She leaned in to try and look at him better. “You heard what he said, you can’t get it out. Not yet anyway.” As much as Lily was irritated by the harshness that he was displaying, considering she had done absolutely nothing to illicit that to be directed towards her, she understood partly why he was acting like this. Fear can make you angry.

“I didn’t see it, so I don’t know what we have to fight.” She admitted, slumping one shoulder. “But if we can’t talk to each other like civil people, then I know we will die. No doubt about it.” In the hour they had spent here, especially since her blessing had kicked in, Lily found herself thinking a little bit more logically than before. Her paranoia and terror were still there, hovering just beneath the surface, but if she did not think clearly then she would die. She could cry and scream later, now was the time for planning and focus.

“So please, just come and try to calm down. Talk to me if you want, or don’t. This isn’t helping anything.”

Xevon tipped his head lightly in the wake of Lily's puzzled expression. He didn't offer much more in the sense of saying anything else. But drew his attention toward the young man, who had one foot on the wall at least, straining to pry it from the drywall. He had either not heard or ignored most of her conversation with Xevon, focused solely on tearing the dagger from the wall.

Xevon tutted softly. "It is easy to say you must stop something. It is far harder to do it. You can't just look at a wound and tell it to stop bleeding. It requires time, patience and care," the ghostly figure explained briefly. "Fear, exhaustion, pain, the likes."

Finn's hands tightened briefly, as did his jaw, before he lowered his hands and his foot. His eyes didn't move from the dagger, jaw still clenched.

"I was hunted down before," he finally muttered, "I was not here with you. I don't know you or recognize your voice. I don't know the inner workings like you inevitably do. But I do know that I trusted my father with my life and to be here feels like I have failed him," he hadn't moved at all, just spoke straight to the wall and the dagger.

"I am not going to be hunted down again. I can't do this all over again," Finn continued, his voice steely and tart but calmer than before. "I want to end it--end this whole hotel scheme--not just... be one of the numbers that didn't make it."
Xevon glanced briefly toward Callisto. At the least, Finn calmed down far quicker and if not better than the dark haired man would. Xevon could fuel his fire for a week or so on end, it took a lot of effort to slow down, to calm down. Usually, it was because he just simply ran out of energy.

But this young man calmed down because he could. It was a conscious decision that he was making.

Lily’s eyes glazed back over to Xevon as he commented on her method of trying to talk Finntello down from whatever mountain of anger he had hiked up. Where was she supposed to start other than talking. Carefully, she brought her now pinpointed pupils back towards Finn, deciding to bite her tongue in retort to the ghost. He had done enough to warrant Lily’s respect.

Her brows knitted ever closer as Finn spoke, he was right. They didn’t really know each other, they had just been thrown into this hotel together and clung to each other out of desperation. As much as she would like to think they would have gotten along outside in their real lives, who knows what they were truly like. They didn’t even know their own memories, so how could she expect him to grant her any weighting within his decisions. Especially if he was set on killing this god.

Yet, a small part of her didn’t want to leave him to face this threat alone. Even if it was a threat they could avoid all together, she didn’t want to kill it. She wanted to go home, wherever it was. But she couldn’t leave him here trying to end things himself.

Callisto’s tilted head met the eyes of Xevon as he looked over towards him, a blank enough look on his face despite what was happening. He had seen enough anger burst out from Xevon that it took more than this outburst to make him react. Though he did seem to reel himself in rather quickly, another difference between the two winged men. But there was something still simmering in Finntello, he had simply tamed it enough to force it to settle beneath his skin. As Lily spoke, his eyes snapped towards her in surprise, he had not expected her to commit herself to Finntello’s plan at all. Let alone this quickly.

“We will kill it then.” Her voice was steady, her eyes still staring at Finntello, watching his focus on the dagger in the wall. “We can kill it. But to do it, we need a good plan. I’m not going to throw myself into this without some kind of plan.” Slowly, Lily tipped her head to try and catch Finn’s gaze as she spoke.

Finn shook his head after a moment, his hand lifting up to set on the wall and then leaned against it with his shoulder. His arm against the wall, just in front of the dagger in the wall as he poked at the handle with his hand before it fell down against his side.

He swallowed thickly, wallowing in the silence.

Xevon crossed his arms over his chest. He could see the anger and emotions still lingering in his chest, just bubbling under the surface. But his eyebrow raised upward as Lily spoke, almost entirely surprised at the pair. "... they're insane," he whispered quietly.

Finn glanced over toward Lily and nodded, swallowing thickly. "We need a perfect plan," he agreed quietly and took in a deep breath. "We can't just throw ourselves at him because it won't work. It hasn't worked. So we have to concoct the perfect plan."

Xevon shook his head lightly, exhaling briefly before he pushed one hand through his hair. His hair, misty, sifted around his hand and then settled back into place. "Do you know what you're getting into?"

Finn shook his head lightly. "No," he confirmed. "But I know what I want to have happen. You said you had a theory, let's hear the theory."

Callisto’s eyes narrowed as he listened to them talk, only drifting away as he heard the pleasant tone of Xevon’s voice slicing through the conversation. When he caught sight of his companion, Callisto dared to move a little closer to him, positioning himself just behind him. His head peering from behind the side of one of his wings.

“I would have called you that once upon a time.” He commented, sliding his eyes towards the side of Xevon’s head before he was pulled out of his focus by Finntello’s direct question. After seeing Xevon come back from his brawls with the creature, Callisto had indeed thought him to be insane.

With a side long glance towards Xevon before he spoke, Callisto let a small sigh fall from his lips. He lifted a hand and pinched the bridge of his nose tightly before letting his arm fall haphazardly back down to his side with a shrug.

“The lantern he carries.” Callisto brushed carefully past Xevon’s wing, slipping just in front of him. “That is where he stores all the souls that are sent here, but what would happen if we were to destroy it? That is what we were questioning.”

Lily had been distracted briefly by the dagger that had dropped to the floor with a thunk, staring at it again as Callisto had begun to talk. Slowly, she turned around to face the pair of ghosts, but her main focus was on her guardian. Her eyes were still lit with calculating glint as she stared at him, she couldn’t hide the curiosity, the desire to figure out exactly how she knew him. It seemed impossible considering how long Callisto claimed to have been haunting these halls.

“So..we crack the lantern and he’s what? Weaker?” Her head tilted to the side, taking a quick glance towards Finn. “Or it kills him?” Then as quick as she had said it, she waved her hands dismissively. “You don’t know.” Lily had answered her own question. Of course they didn’t know yet, hence it being a theory.
