Xevon tipped his head lightly, thinking slowly. "I imagine that they would do far more damage," he confirmed with an amused noise, "tch, don't you know we're just here to look pretty?" There was that taunting noise hinting in his tone.

He let it drop down slightly as Callisto noted about the ring. "I doubt they will. But I feel like we ought to keep it on the pair--perhaps they can wear it intermittently. When they go for the Lantern, whoever is going for it will wear the ring as well."

He shook his head lightly, tossing dark hair back and forth. "... it will be a blessing to see them off--alive."

Finn blew a short breath as he shrugged. "I mean, I'm assuming that it's the people who send other people here. That would make sense at least. I guess my dad was... one of them... at one point? Probably unwilling if he escaped," Finn rubbed the back of his neck and finally moved to sit on the side of the bed.

He waved one hand lightly, pushing his hand through his hair. "Nah, but I don't think the dreamcatcher... uh... catches memories? I think it'll only catch dreams and nightmares," he said briefly, stretching out with a brief groan. "Good grief, I feel like I should be sore or something and I'm not."

He listened in quietness to Xevon talk his way through his thinking once more, devising the plan for the ring and its use. Though, Callisto suspected the living would not take kindly to each other throwing themselves at danger alone. He could deal with that irritating notion later. At the last words to leave Xevon’s lips, Callisto leaned himself up from the floor, not that he was really sitting directly on it. Rising up to his full height, he glanced down at his friend.

“It will be a blessing to watch that pitiful creature die after all this time.” He was surprised by the venom that had laced his comment, not that it displeased him. For all he cared, it could suffer the most painful death possible. Was the adrenaline still in his system from the skirmish? Why was he so quick to wish violence onto the god? He hadn’t been so ready for it before, typically that was Xevon’s role, to scorn. Then he looked over Xevon again, despite the pleasant visage before him now, he knew what lay beneath. What remained of his friend at the hands of that creature. It was that. That was what boiled the blood in his vessels. Nevermind his own broken body that lay forgotten somewhere.

Lily’s face scrunched up a little at the idea of having a family member involved in this chaos. “At least you dad..escaped? If that’s what it looked like.” And then with a small hum of realisation, she dropped her head a little. “You’re right, it’s not a memory catcher. Not sure why I thought that would work.” She added with a hint of exasperation. That meant that more traumatising memories were queued up and waiting for her mind to open again. The best part is that she had not yet remembered the blow that had sent her here, what a pleasant time that would be. Not.

“But you do feel alright? Yes?” Lily walked to the edge of his bed and bent at the waist to look over him. He looked fine. “Other than confused, I mean.” She attempted a smile towards him.

"It will," Xevon confirmed with a loose noise, almost a rough chuckle. It was a far darker noise than usual as he rose up to his... shorter height. Sure, he was much smaller than usual but he looked less like a nightmare. He'd catch glimpses of himself in the mirror occasionally. Unfortunately, the mirror did not reflect the facade he wore.

He tended to avoid mirrors.

"But we should check on the living, make sure they're still ... living..." Xevon noted briefly, almost dryly, as he turned his blood red gaze upward toward the ceiling above them.

Finn shrugged loosely before he let out a small chuckle. "Well, at least it's just us. Can't make a fool of myself if it's just you..." his voice trailed off as she looked over him. He felt fine, he hoped. "... do I look fine?" Finn's voice wavered slightly, almost worried. "I mean, it's a little confusing and a bit stressful but I look okay right?"

So perhaps he was just a touch vain--looks were important after all... and Finn had a deep notion that he liked to look good. After all, why else would he wear what he wore? No one just wore what he was wearing for the fun of it, they wore this clothing to look and feel great.

Not that he felt that great but the clothing helped. He looked like he should be confident, suave, a little aloof... maybe playful. So he tried to be that.

But in this situation, it was hard to be all of that. And not ... break.

"Xevon, Callisto!" Finn greeted the ghostly pair, grateful for the distraction. "Is everything okay?"

Callisto’s nose scrunched the smallest bit at the coarse sound from his friend, but he did not comment on it. Instead, as his gaze lifted to the ceiling and began to rise back up. He reached out and grabbed at Xevon’s wrist, taking great care not to grip too tightly.

“If that thing gets its claws on you again, I shall rip its throat out.” With that, he sent himself up through the ceiling and popped out in front of the living, letting his hand release Xevon.

Lily’s spine straightened quickly, a small pop of a bone as she did so. “Y-You look fine! I was just asking because I felt dreadful after last time.” She lifted her hands and faced the palms towards him, shaking them a little. “You look good.” She tried to right the obvious nerve she had touched a little too hard. “Promise.” Plastering a smile on to her lips to further prove her words. She wasn’t lying. He did look good, all things considered. Her jumper was ruined and now she was running around in a slightly tattered tank top and blue jeans. Not exactly glamorous.

She startled as Finn greeted the ghosts behind her. Turning, she saw Callisto first. He looked a little more…irate? If that was even possible.

“Everything is fine.” Callisto nodded his head towards Finn before he frowned for a moment. “I thought you two,” He lifted a hand to gesture between the two of them. “Were trying to sleep?” Then he recalled the woman’s previous comments, well Finn was more brazen with it, but she knew he could hear. “Unless you were doing something other than sleeping?” Callisto cocked an accusatory eyebrow towards the pair, looking between them with a knowing look.

Lily almost yelped at the claim, he was doing it on purpose. He had to be.

Xevon paused as Callisto held his wrist, giving him a rather chilling promise. As if he wouldn't do the same--there would be a mutual tearing apart of the god. That was fine by him, at this point in time. But good grief, his wrist... tingled with the remnant of the ghostly touch. It sent shivers up and down his spine.

He lifted his eyes and raised an eyebrow at Callisto's hidden taunt toward the pair and rested back with his arms crossed over his chest.

Finn was a lot of things and unlike Lily who thought about his words before she said anything, a barbed retort was already locked and loaded. His shoulders lifted up, one dipping down as his chin tilted back, looking down at Callisto with a rather sharp and tart smirk.

"What, prying in on our life because you can't get any?"

Xevon put one hand on his face and dropped his chin toward the ground.

He moved off of the bed and fluffed out his wings, with a rather theatrical movement. "But, Nosy Nancy, the answer is no. One of us is here to be a bride the other one is here because his dad did the unthinkable and actually escaped. Apparently. So if you two aren't too busy skirting around whatever... tension..." he gestured loosely at the pair of ghosts, "is there, how about we focus on what to do next, eh?"

As it turned out, Finn had... almost no shame either. He only then thought about what was coming out of his mouth and, surprisingly, didn't really regret it.

Lily’s eyes shifted towards Finn as he moved, dropping a shoulder. She almost spoke, interjecting to stop whatever response was about to draw itself out of his lips. Alas, it was too late and the fiery look that lit up Callisto’s eyes made her zip her lips even tighter.

His shoulder had jolted at the returned jab, his lip twitching indignantly as he stared down at the living man. He gave the tiniest glance from the corner of his eye towards Xevon as Finn referenced the two of them, only narrowing his gaze further as he went on. He wished the pair had just dozed away for the next eight hours, but apparently Callisto wasn’t that lucky.

Lily did feel a little prick of annoyance at her referral as to being simply the bride, but she refrained from furthering the disturbance with her own grumblings.

With a sharp kiss of his teeth, Callisto jerked her head away from the living and swung an arm out towards the door to the hallway. “You need to retrieve a ring.” He kept his words clipped and short, his nose and the space between his eyebrows creasing. He could take a good guess at where it was, but…that did mean another corpse to be discovered. Thankfully not his own, just the last unfortunate to be dragged here.

“If you have finished mouthing off like a child, you will find it in the kitchens.” Callisto shot a glare over his shoulder towards the now standing Finn, refusing to give the living man the satisfaction of looking over to where Xevon was.

Lily’s lips pressed into a thin line and finally she stepped forwards, grasping dramatically at Finntello’s arm after awkwardly fumbling for one of the daggers. Grazing past his wing as she slipped beside him. “A-Ah, yes, a ring. We can find a ring.” She circled her hand around his arm and began to half lead half drag Finn towards the door. “That’s easy, a ring.” She was almost reassuring herself. “Let’s go.” She looked up to Finntello as they grew closer to the door, a pointed look.

Finn shook his head lightly and set his hands on his hips as Callisto responded sharply. What did he expect when he came in with that type of attitude? Did he expect him to just take it and act like some befuddled child? Finn was not that type of person, not at all.

"You started it," Finn stated flatly, "you came in and--" he cut off when Lily pulled him toward the door. He shook his head lightly and swiped the dagger from the top of the dresser as she opened the door. He shook his head lightly and huffed, stepping out into the hallway. He returned her pointed look with a rather loose huff and a shrug. He had started it. Instead of being worried or concerned or anything, Callisto had gone out and swung at them. So he swung back. It was more or less instinctual at first and then he had just doubled down on it.

Xevon shook his head lightly and lifted his hands in the air, signaling a sort of 'leave me out of it' motion. It wasn't until they were out of the room that he spoke. "Don't you look at me, you're the one who said it," he said, not unkindly, "I wasn't going to bring it up but eh. I mean, good grief, we follow the same personalities... more or less... I'll admit he has ... no filter," he rubbed the back of his neck, "but it's like looking at me and asking that question, Callisto. I don't... really know what you expected," his hand reached out to set on his shoulder. "How about we just make sure they don't get into too much trouble out there?"

Callisto snapped his head around to look as Xevon as the living exited the room, his brows still scrunched together. The irritation made his eye twitch ever so slightly as he listened to his friend in silence. He only glanced down as his hand met with his shoulder.

“Well, I have been dead for centuries. I have an excuse for not /getting any/.” He mocked the terminology, that is certainly not how he would phrase it. He was not courting someone, or involved or something just less vulgar.

With a small huff, he lifted a hand in dismissal of his own words before he began exiting the room. “I will watch them, but if he makes a smart alec remark.” Callisto grumbled under his breath. He refused to see the resemblance between Xevon and Finn, Xevon actually liked him. Finn barely knew him and had the gall to speak like that. Xevon was allowed to, Finn was not.

Lily nudged Finn’s side with her shoulder as they slipped out into the hallway, carefully holding the dagger away from herself in her free hand.

“Can we play nice with them? We don’t know anything about this place.” She tried to convince him to bite his tongue, though she doubted it would actually accomplish anything. In truth, Callisto’s remark was a little out there, however she would not have bit back with such vigour.

“I just want to go home.” Lily turned her head to look up at him as she spoke, slightly widened eyes. She was sick of this place, as she was sure he was, but the longer she spent here the more she felt her energy draining.

Xevon shook his head lightly and let it out again. After a moment, he let out a loose noise and--with a small bit of hesitation--reached his hand out briefly to touch Callisto's shoulder. "Look--" he said quietly, his voice shaking, "I know... I ... I know. But... and listen, this is the last place, the last thing that you probably want to even think about," Xevon's voice hesitated again, wavering now.

"But maybe... just maybe... even if this is our last ... time here, I'd rather spend it... with someone I love than alone."

The thought had plagued him ever since the fight with the god. Callisto had been alone--he knew that. But Xevon ... well he hadn't. The thought of being alone suddenly sent trembles through his entire being.

Finn shook his head lightly and sighed briefly. "I'll do my best," he replied with a short huff, "but I'm not going to stand by and take it. They're going to at least do the least they can and not snap back at us for no good reason. I--"

Finn cut off as she spoke again. A sharp knife of agony swept through his chest at the thought. Something twisted inside of him that felt wrong and a jab of hot grief, perhaps. He hadn't really thought about his home or whatever. He had just thought about getting out and into the world. So escaping ran in his genetics.

"I know," Finn whispered, pushing one hand through his hair, "and we are. We are going to get out of here, we're going to be alright. You're going to go home and be safe, be free, those two are going to get what they really need and deserve which is rest."

He paused for a moment or two. "I'll... find my father."

He said that sentence with far more confidence than he felt. Somehow, he had a deep rooted feeling that his father wasn't... there anymore.

Callisto’s eyes travelled to the hand that tapped his shoulder, trailing along the limb to meet the person it was attached to as he began to talk. He had stopped in the middle of his exit, carefully watching Xevon, barely a falter in his expression. It was unusual for the dark haired man to fumble his words, it was an interesting sight, that was for certain.

Then he felt like a stone had caved in his ribcage at the word love. It felt like a solid blow to his lungs that zapped all the air from them, making his throat tighten. Surely, he meant platonically, a familial love after being around each other for so long. Callisto couldn’t quite convince himself it was anything else, at least that’s what he tried to believe. He did not want to finish this hell and leave Xevon with the added pain of their departure due to amorous involvement with each other. As often as he found himself drifting towards those thoughts, he had a lot of time on his hands, it was always confusing. Did he actually feel like that towards Xevon, genuinely? Or was it simply the lack of other people that made him feel like this? It hurt his brain to try and think about it, so he avoided it.

The poor man must have looked like a deer in headlights. Standing frozen to the spot, staring at Xevon. What was he supposed to say in response to that? It had to be carefully constructed, even if his first instinct was to reach out towards the other.

“I would rather do that as well.” Incredible response, good job Callisto, he cursed himself. “I shall not be going anywhere without you beside me. That I can promise you.” There was the smallest alternation to his usually even keeled voice, a humming tone beneath that perhaps betrayed his inner turmoil. He felt his hand twitch up towards Xevon, reaching Callisto’s midsection before he reined in the action, catching himself before glancing outside the door to the pair walking down the hallway.

Lily’s chest raised before it fell with an accompanying huff of air, her eyes dropping to the floor in front of them. She hoped that he was right. That speaking it into existence would work. All they really had was hope and weird new abilities to help them get home. Whatever home meant to them both.

“I’m sure you will find him.” She peered back up to him for a moment, her hand on his arm tightening in a reassuring squeeze. That was when she realised she was still holding onto him, with a quick movement. Lily removed her arm from his and lifted the dagger with both of her hands, studying it, using the presence of Finn beside her to make sure she was still walking in a straight line.

“When we get out, we can find him together.”
