Name:

Bodhi Kazan Ariti

𝓂𝑒𝒶𝓃𝒾𝓃𝑔: 𝐵𝓁𝑒𝓈𝓈𝑒𝒹 𝒶𝓌𝒶𝓀𝑒𝓃𝒾𝓃𝑔

(very ironic, I know)

Age:

23

Gender:

Male

Pronouns: he/him

Sexuality*:

Bisexual, with a slight preference for women

Appearance:

bodhi

Despite his human nature, Bodhi walks with an aura of a demon, or some other dark and unsettling form. When walking the streets, he is often avoided by young ones, and even some of the older children hang back at his seemingly ghastly presence. His skin is pale, almost deathly so, and despite nearly every moment of the day he walks the streets, but the sun seems to barely touch his ghostly flesh. His porcelain skin is something he prizes, obsesses over, even. He takes great care to keep his hands unmarred as possible. His back is nearly covered in scars, but he never speaks of where he gained these. He seems to thrive in the moonlight, when he stalks the streets, seeming even more devilish than he does in the sun.

His eyes are the colour of bitter coffee, dark, and unyielding, framed by strangely feminine eyelashes. He has high cheekbones, and a jawline sharp enough to cut diamonds. His dark hair is cut raggedly, longer on the top, and cut close around his skull on the sides. He has a lean, muscular build, and stands around 5'10. His shorter stature leaves people uneasy, wondering if his height is going to leave him at a disadvantage to them, or whether he will use it against them. He often speaks in a low, raspy voice, which doesn't quite seem to match his face, nor his age. His lips are round and full, a dusky rose colour. Despite the fact that they are often turned down in a frown, when he does smile, it lights up his whole face, causing one small dimple in his left cheek to appear. He is rather self-conscious of this feature, and this is a tiny part of the reason he normally chooses to keep his emotions hidden.

Bodhi dresses quite classily, in dark fabrics, often accentuated with gold or silver designs stitched in, such as paisleys (his personal favorite), roses, and feathers. These threads are usually hidden amongst the dark ones, causing the light to seemingly sparkle off the black and dark grey threads, which adds an air of mystery that he likes quite a bit. He has a tattoo on the back of his neck, a crow in flight, and a tiny sun on his right thumb. He has no piercings or any other man made marks upon his body, besides his scars. He normally stays as covered up as he can, in suits to rival Armani. Bodhi is rather broody, and often his face shows no emotion, besides a bit of a frown.

He walks with a slight limp, due to a childhood injury, and is highly irritated at this. He tries to act as though it doesn’t pain him at all, but once one knows him well, it is easy to catch the slight grimaces, and flashes of pain in his eyes.

Personality:

Bodhi isn't really that well known by anyone. He's mostly closed off, and those who don't know him well are eager to spread rumors.

Often described as cold and ruthless, Bodhi is willing to do almost any job for the right amount of money. He is rather manipulative and conniving, and is keen to let others know that he is in control of any situation. He is quick witted, and always has a trick up his sleeve, unless he's with someone he trusts with his life. He isn't a huge fan of trust, and will exploit almost anyone for his gain. Despite this, he is fiercely loyal to those he does love and trust, and once his trust is gained, it is not easily broken.

Bodhi is normally aloof and indifferent, hiding his true emotions behind a cool façade. However, he holds grudges close to his heart, and vengeance is practically his hobby. There isn't much you can do to rattle him, besides strong emotions. If someone is crying, or honestly feeling anything too strongly in front of him, he gets skittish and unwieldy. This stems mostly from his traumatic childhood, and he struggles with the fact that he doesn't really feel anymore.

One of Bodhi's biggest fears is mirrors. As a child, he learned to dislike his own appearance, and although he takes great pride in it now, he prefers to do as much of it as possible. This fears also comes from his uneasiness with how mirrors distort images, making him on edge with how appearances are not always what they seem.

Bodhi sometimes comes off as paranoid and lost in his own mind, he is good at riddles, problem solving, and is quite the perfectionist. When he finds his crowd, he is slightly more easy going, but for the most part, he prefers to be left with those select few, rather than in a group setting.

The office was dark when Bodhi stepped in, but he'd expected that. Smoke curled from a cigarette in the darkest recesses of the room: the desk, and the shadowed figure sitting there. The young man moved smoothly through the room, his dark eyes seeming casually bored, but were truly sharp and alert, scanning the room, assessing the man sitting across from him.
"Father," said Bodhi coolly, draping himself across a cold leather seat. "You do know I don't like having to see you when I don't have to."
The older man practically mirrored his ill-mannered son, impressively sprawled over a huge desk chair, fingers tented, the cigarette pinched between the fingers on his left hand. A few more cold words were exchanged between the two of them, and Bodhi rose a moment later, dropping a crumpled letter on the table.
"Next time, don't make me come here. A phone call, or letter that's actually useful would be great," he snapped, stalking out of the room.
His dark suit only helped him blend into the shadows as he headed out of the room, but outside the office, he walked out into a decrepit building on the very edge of town, the sun was sitting low in the sky, making him even more suspicious. He scowled. Being a part of the mafia was something he enjoyed immensely: people were scared of you, you got to be an asshole with no repercussions because people couldn't find you, couldn't pin you down. But, when your father is the leader, you often run into problems of being treated like a child, or a messenger. Bodhi kicked a rock, watching it skitter across the parking lot, easing from dark corner to dark corner, his limp causing him great pain. He'd covered almost twelve miles on foot that day, and wasn't used to the wear and tear that it caused on his old childhood injury. His mood only worsened, and he flicked an imaginary piece of dust off his immaculate suit jacket, slinking around another corner.
He was in the better part of town now, and he walked by a hulking mansion twice before the people surrounding it slowly ebbed, and he carefully slipped a lock pick from his sleeve, jamming it angrily into the lock on the gate. It clicked open, and he slipped inside, mostly unnoticed. It took him precisely four minutes and twenty seven seconds to disable the alarms and set a thick letter on the desk of an important government employee, then make it out without much fuss. He pulled off his gloves, and shoved them in his pockets, still muttering about being nothing but a messenger boy.
It was late now, and he was hungry, so he immediately went to the closest casino that he knew his father owned, demanded a meal, and settled into the darkest corners, studying the going-ons in the gambling dens, slot machines, and exchange areas. A waiter brought him his meal, and he picked at it, more interested in the surroundings that he had chosen, and deciding where he wanted to spend the night. Normally, after a heist, big or small, he would lay low, and hide in the safe houses he could find. Tonight, however, he had a hankering to lose some money, and end the night at one of the pleasure houses along the river.

The night was busy, busier than usual at The Red Door. People lined outside the doors, some sober, most already drunk and bar hopping. Natalia was use to all of this tho, it brought excitement to her job. She worked as one of the bartenders in the back of the club, more of the VIP area. High class liquors filled the shelves, crystal glassware ready to be put to use. Most of the people who ordered from her bar had been regulars or those of expensive taste.
Natalia enjoyed this job, it was calming to her to create different types of concoctions that so many different people liked. Some normal, everyday bar drinks, some crazy combos that she questioned some times. It was also the perfect job to get to know people. She loved to learn peoples history and lives, it was just all so interesting to her. To hear and learn about how different people are from one another. One guy may live a normal nine to five life while the guy next to him may have traveled to every single country, visited tribes, you name it.
She may have come off as more quiet in person but at work she knew her job. She had a contagious smile, one that lit up the dark and dim room that surrounded them. She paid attention to her patrons, listening to what they had to say, some old men came to just talk and buy drinks from her. She was always there to listen and had mastered the art of multitasking. Although the night was busy and bustling, she still kept on track, mixing an assortment of liquors, using the metal shakers to mix. She was quick but good at her job, drinks handcrafted with talent. As the night went on, she would occasionally glance to the time on the computer, tonight was just a night she wanted to be home and relax.
Her work life was quite different than that of her home life. She loved to paint and create artwork to sell, relax with a book on the balcony, or cook up a delicious homemade meal. She knew she was very lucky to have an somewhat easy life, with her father being the Mayor she didn't have to worry about most things anyone else would. She lived life how she wanted to. Shaking her head softly she gained her thoughts back and went back to work, just a couple more hours to go.

Bodhi had been wandering the casino for a few minutes, enjoying the dark, smoky rooms, full of people emptying their pockets to benefit him. A smirk quirked his lips, and he wandered towards the bar when he caught a snippet of the music playing throughout the casino, and a memory slammed into him like a wrecking ball, and had him practically sprinting to the bar to drink away the pain that flashed through his head. He missed his sister terribly all of a sudden, and hated how weak it made him feel. He stopped at the smooth, polished wood of the front bar, the only one that wasn't completely surrounded by smoke and people who were happily gambling away their life savings. Bodhi perched on one of the stools, studying the girls behind the bar. It had been his father's idea to only hire women for the serving parts of the casino, and he had fought hard against it, and eventually, got his way. The mix of people behind the counter was almost enough to drown out his loud thoughts, but not quite enough. "My usual," he said to the closest person behind the bar, a random guy he'd never seen before. His whiskey sour was pushed towards him, and he welcomed the burn of the alcohol.
As he sipped the beverage, he watched the other people who were behind the counter. He hadn't been to The Red Door in a while, preferring some of the more low-key establishments that belonged to the Crimson Reapers, but this one was nice every once in a while. Each time he came, it was like a tiny reward to himself, that he allowed himself to indulge in the pleasures that it offered. He studied one of the girls, chewing on his lip absentmindedly. She looked terribly familiar, but he couldn't remember why. Bodhi was positive that he'd seen her on the news, definitely with someone else. It was on the tip of his tongue, he knew her from somewhere. Then it dawned on him, and his soft lips parted slightly, his startled gaze still resting on the girl. She was the Mayor's daughter for god's sake! Why had they hired her of all people? The alcohol caught in his throat, and he coughed slightly, flicking an imaginary piece of dust off his suit, shifting uncomfortably on the chair. What was her name again? They didn't wear name tags, goddamnit. Naomi? Natalie? That was closer, and he knew it. "Natalia," he said aloud, finally reaching the right conclusion. "Come here for a moment?" He wasn't sure if she knew who he was, in any respect, but he wanted to know who had hired her. He *had* to know.

Natalia continued the night as normal, helping guests with their drinks, keeping the bar clean, attending to those in the VIP Lounges as well. The bar was at a steady pace, new and old faces here and there, no one sitting at the bar long enough for a conversation tonight though. A few people recognized her, usually just an older guy who had their faces shoved into politics, but she did not let that distract her from the job. Her personal life was kept seperate from her work life. Throughout the night nothing peaked Natalia's interest much, the normal flirting men were just tiring that night. But there was one man who caught her interest. She had seen him before, not often, he was rather illusive. She known him as the owners son, Bodhi. She would ocasionally see him here, not as much as his father, but for meeting or just to check in on the establishment from time to time. She had never spoken to him, nor did she think they had ever even noticed each other. He was at the other end of the bar that night, so not in her section, it took quite some time for him to even notice her. When he did though, it was as if he saw a ghost, a startled look on his features. Natalia ignored it, just giving a small smile before focusing back on the guests before her.
Though when she heard her name being called out across the crowd of patrons, she was quite confused. She looked to the man who called out, and yet again it was Bodhi. What did he want? She was quite surprised he even knew her name. She nodded, finishing the last drink before excusing herself to the other end of the bar. Making her way over she stood before him, giving a polite smile as her soft eyes looked to his, "Yes sir?" She asked, waiting patiently for what he had to say before she could get back to work.

Bodhi looked the picture of his father, half leaning on the sleek bar-top counter, his fingers resting against each other in a tent shape over his empty glass. His dark hair was neatly pushed back, a couple strands falling seductively into his eyes, and for once, his dark eyes held no malice, only curiosity and vague confusion. He chewed on the inside of his lip, causing the soft pink skin to purse outwards, his head cocked to the side like a lost puppy. As she walked over, his ran his fingers down the condensation on the side of his glass, watching it pool on the countertop. He felt like immediately asking who the hell had hired her felt too forward, and although he was a criminal, Bodhi considered himself nothing less than a top-tier gentleman, courteous and chivalrous as a man from the 1800's.
"So," he said, dragging out the syllables, his tone cool and neutral. "How do you like working at The Red Door? It's one of the better establishments around here, I suppose." After a brief pause, he quirked an eyebrow. "Still. Not exactly a place one would expect to see the daughter of the Mayor," he drawled, his fingers tightening on the glass. "Didn't you know criminals come here?" He asked in a falsely innocent way, trying to ease the tension. "I might just be a daddy's boy who doesn't know anything, but I already know the man who served me my drink will be taking a little more pay than he should be. It doesn't bother you to be surrounded by the filth and lowest of the low of our town?"
As she answered his question, he was only half listening, his dark gaze surveying her face with a blasé expression, though he was still quite intrigued by her willingness to work in such an establishment, The Red Door wasn't the worst place to work, of course. It was well-to-do, clean, and gave off the aura of richness, and for the most part, the raggedy scum kept out of the way. It was definitely better than the pleasure houses down by the docks, but paid less than the pleasure houses along the East Mar. Those places were always full of swirling silks, sweet smelling flowers, and rich patrons. He wasn't surprised that she hadn't chosen to work at one of those, though. It certainly wouldn't have shown her father in a very good light.
Suddenly, he frowned, shadows darkening the pale curves of his face. "Wait a moment. On the news, this morning. Didn't your father say that he was planning on clearing out all the mafia groups from our city? Personally, I think they do quite well, keeping most of the crime out of the daytime hours. I wouldn't know that well, of course," he said breezily, gently pushing the cup away from him. "The whole state of Lepchyk is crawling with grime and filth. Why should our home be any different? With the mafia groups gone, why, there might be brawls in the street."

Natalia stood across the black, stone counter top as Bodhi began to speak, questioning if she liked it here. She was about to answer but he began to add to his words. He knew who she was, the Mayor's Daughter. She chuckled faintly, her eyes looking down to the counter for just a moment before back to his dark eyes. He held such a mysterious aura about himself, one that intrigued her. "Criminals are everywhere, no matter where you go in this town. This place just seemed to be the nicest option without it being a pleasure house." She explained, "I just come in, do my job and go home. The money does not matter to me, serving and brightening someones day up just a bit does. Plus it gives me something to do" She added, her slender fingers picking up a rag to wipe the counter down quickly.
Natalia looked back up to him as he began to question her father's latest move as Mayor, in which she just sighed and shook her head softly. "I do not like to talk about my father's politics, it's not my place. But yes, that is his plan." She said. Her whole life was listening to her father's politics, everyday, morning and night. She hated it. She did not bring that with her to work or outings, it stayed at home. She had no side on any of it, she saw the good and the bad, but it was not her say. Before long, Natalia tried to change the conversation, "Can I get you anything else to drink?" She asked. She liked talking to people, always, but not a conversation that would dive into her life.

Bodhi frowned as the girl deflected his questions, and he couldn't tell whether she'd meant to or not. He'd been hoping for a straight, firm answer on the question of politics and the mafia, but she had smoothly given him a reply that held no real answer. If one hadn't truly been listening, it sounded like a well thought out response to his question, but when you took a closer look at the adept way she tried to keep the topics out of her way was quite odd. He sighed, leaning back. Clearly, she had no reason to give him any insights into her father's plans, and he didn't feel like wiggling his way into more information. He gently pushed the cup away, and the bartend that had originally served him whisked it away. Bodhi chewed on his lip, considering the answer he'd gotten. She wasn't working for the money? What kind of rich-ass girl would say that? Everyone needed money, it was just the way of life. But the fact that she was in such a comfortable place financially, to the point that working was just a way to have a little bit of fun? Oh, that irked him. He was out there, risking his life every day, fighting like a dog. Yes, he was rich. But all of the money that he properly owned? He'd come by it himself, not always in the nicest ways. But he wasn't known as The Dirty Shadow on the streets for nothing. He'd take any job that was well-paying, that might boost him a little higher, and he wasn't unwilling to slit a few throats to get there.
He turned his attention back to the girl behind the counter as she asked him if he wanted another drink. He paused, leaning back in his chair, his dark gaze slipping up to the menu that hung above the array of bottle behind the bar counter, studying the many options. He didn't particularly want another drink. One was enough to keep the adrenaline buzzing through his veins, but keep his mind sharp and alert. Bodhi didn't believe in getting drunk, losing control of one's limbs was bad enough, but becoming sluggish in the mind? That was more risky than standing on a street corner yelling out that you were part of the Crimson Reapers. If anyone recognized him, he'd be done for in seconds. Even so, he was already taking risks that night. His eyes wandered from the menu to a pretty girl with bronze-coloured skin who was wandering amongst the tables. She was dressed richly in purple silks that spiraled and twirled seductively around her, her black hair in one long braid behind her. To an average outsider, she looked like any of the other 'working girls,' as they were called around the casinos. But to Bodhi, she looked like information.
The young man stood up, and pushed some bills across the counter.
"No, thanks. That'll be all tonight."
He knew he hadn't gotten to the bottom of the real reason he'd called her over. He hadn't even bothered to ask how long she'd ben working there. However, his real job was much more important, and the risk of having a working girl as an informer meant he had to move quickly to make sure she got in and out safely. He took six long, precise steps, and caught the girl's arm, pulling her behind a heavy red curtain near the middle of the casino's floors. Passerby's would only assume the worst, and that was fine with him. It was easier to do this where someone would see it, rather than try to hide, and have everyone see it.
