Iditarod Rules
1. At least five dogs must finish the race
2. No drugs allowed, for mushers or dogs
3. Dogs must be examined by vets beforehand
4. No dogs may be added after the race begins
5. Mushers must keep a veterinary diary on the trail and are required to have it signed by a veterinarian at each checkpoint

RP Starts: Entering Ruby
Season: Spring
Conditions: Cold, hard to see, snow and ice everywhere. Currently snowing, not heavy but not exactly light
The three main teams will be close together. It does not matter who is ahead of who, but the three main teams will be close together since the avalanche will be falling on them
Also remember this is a semi-literate RP! I would prefer a minimum of 200 words, and just so we don't move too quickly, a maximum of 500. Do not feel like you must hit the 500 word max, I definitely will not, XD

Thump, thump, thump
Came the steady sound of the paws hitting against the ground in a rhythm. And at the front, alongside Timor Animarum ran the other lead dog, Zelda. Zelda's paws thump against the ground in sync with the other dogs as they move, pulling against the harness to pull the sled forward. They were heading straight for Ruby, which was the halfway marker for the great sled race. Zelda lets out an encouraging bark, as she glances over her shoulder. "Come on! We're almost there! Just a little further!" Nathainel, their musher, was already getting ready to slow the dogs to rest in Ruby for a little bit.

Reese's tongue hangs out the side of her mouth as she runs, she didn't have quite as much work to do since there were so many dogs, but she definitely did have to put some work in. She couldn't wait until they were in Ruby, she was ready for a break. She did love to race, but even with the booties Nathaniel had put on all the dogs paws, her paws were cold and aching. Her ears prick up as she hears the lead dog, Zelda, let out an encouraging bark. Reese's red tail wags and she pushes herself more.

Danica blinks snow out of her eyes as she runs, they were close to Ruby now, in fact the female could see the lights of the town through the falling snow. Thankfully the snow was not falling so hard they couldn't see, but it was definitely falling. Danica's fur was covered in the snow, making her black-and-white pelt become more white. The echo of Zelda's bark reaches back to Danica who presses her ears flat against her head to block the snow as she ducks her head a little further and keeps on running, her broad build moving pretty well. |

The husky strained himself against the leather of his harness, pushing his ears flat as the wind whipped at their silver-and-white tips. Yes. This was what he lived for, what he loved. An opportunity to push his lithe body to its limits. Duncan shut out the sound of Ksenia's breath to his left, focusing soley on the motion of his paws in the snow and the path in front of him. Keen blue eyes scanned the tundra for danger, and to his delight found nothing in particular demanding immediate attention. Duncan couldn't focus on the actions of the dogs behind him right now; only on his musher, dear Harper, and the path in front. As a lead dog, he had to trust his team to - quite literally - pull their weight. Of course, once they got back to camp, they would feel his fangs if they failed.
The scent of water reached Duncan's nose, and his head lifted slightly before falling back below his shoulders. Must maintain proper form. They were approaching Ruby - yes, he was adjusted to Alaska by now. With the conditions, the lead dog was relying on sound and smell above sight at present. The familiar hum of cars reached his ears, and he could smell civilisation around him.
And, of course, other dogs. Duncan's heart raced. Where were the other teams? Yes; nearby. Perhaps in the next leg, we'll pass them, Duncan hoped, blinking snow out of his eyes.
"Whoa!" Harper called, and Duncan began to slow down. |

Skadi || Female || Retro Rebels || Team Dog || M: RR Dogs The hissing sound of the sled zipping across the snow was equally as loud as the combined thrumming of paws and panting jaws of all the dogs around the red and white female. Chunks of snow from the strides of those in front of her sprayed Skadi with both clumps and flakes of the powdery substance. Her tongue lolled out of the side of her mouth as she inhaled and exhaled with each step; her orange eyes were trained on the bodies of the dogs in front of her. She could see two of the nineteen other teams alongside her own; who was in the front, she could not say, though she did not care about that at the moment. The young dog was tiring, as much as she hated to admit it. Curling her lip slightly in determination at the encouraging urgings of their musher, Skadi sent all her energy into that last stretch. Almost there... == Chinook || Male || Wheel Dog || Retro Rebels || M: RR Dogs From his position next to the sled, Chinook could see every dog. He also got every bit of snow and dirt in his face. The large male flattened his ears, both in irritation and in an attempt to block the wind from freezing them off, and released an extra hard huff in one of his exhales. Nathaniel called out right behind him and Chinook pushed into his harness, silently screaming at those in front of him to hurry it up already. His competitive side was getting antsy as both the Ghost Legends and the Quicksilver Fighters teams pushed to reach Ruby. If they didn't make it in first, the irritated male was not at fault. And he was going to have a talk with Basil about her paws flipping snow willy nilly. It was normal to kick up some, yes, but the tiring female in front of him seemed to be handing it out with more generosity than a saint. The constant slap of a new snowball from underneath her paws was driving him over the edge. He kept an ear out for his musher's commands as he refocused on entering Ruby with his sanity intact. Chinook had obviously woken up on the wrong side of the bed; he made a mental note to check himself later before rolling his neck and focusing on the steady beats of his own paws. |

Ksenia | F / QuickSilver Fighters / Lead Dog / M: QS Dogs The cold temperature and snow was like a soft blanket to the Damsel. It was like home in her arctic home in Russia. The harsh breaths of the dogs of pure competive drive. Mixture of excitement and pure competition of all dogs on her team and her competitors drove her to fight. Her paws thumping on the ground. Her technique to drive hard and tread little to no snow behind her swing dogs. Her eyes dashing side to side keeping the watch for anything that dare put them off their trail. Ruby was almost there. Ksenia could hear Duncan breathes and hers match.The snow was beautiful but it stung hear eyes of the sharp cold that it left behind. Shaking her head to clear it as she heard the mushers words,"Woah.." She slowed her pace with the lights of a small town seen. She kept he rposture keenly professional head held high, but her eyes narrowed. Her mind screamed for confidence and determination that they can do it. They can be unstoppable if everyone plays their part. Her mind was clear and she bit back her words to start cheering for team. All words that will be needed in the future. |

Fulminare "Bolt" | Male | QS | Swing Dog |Mentions: QS team, Duncan and Ksenia, Coconut ... Bolt tightened his jaw, pulling his head forward. He could feel himself jolt forward at every kick of his back legs. The sound of thumping paws, a delight to his ears. Duncan ran in front of him, leading the team fearlessly, next to his calm counterpart Ksenia. The dynamic of their leadership was a good cop bad cop type. One calm and nurturing, while the other cold and fierce. Complete polar opposites. He huffed at his little pun, even in his head he had great jokes! ... He turned his head to Coconut, the swinger he ran with. Her hazel colored fur was covered in icicles and flakes of white snow. Even at points he struggled to see, she was always an elegant dog. Bolt smiled, closing his eyes for a brief second as he turned his head forward. At that second he heard a noise from the musher, and the lead dogs slowed. Fulminare slowed to a trot, pushing power into each step. The yellow lights of the town cleared his blurred vision. Ruby. |

Marlen| Female | Retro Rebels| Swing Dog| Siberian Husky| Mentions: Retro Rebels (indirectly) Marlen panted in excitement , she was a swing dog in Retro Rebels, a mushing dog at heart. She heard the jingle of her charms on her leather harness, she hear the yaps and barks of her fellow team mates . Kokanee, Ares and Amaruq , her fellow swing dogs ready for the race, strapped in their places alongside the edges of where the team dogs were. She hear a dog baying from another team nearby, she here the other to bark back but she didn't feel like barking. Marlen felt her tail wag against the dog she was near and apologized. Overall in the Retro Rebels, a mushing sled team they had a musher called Nathaniel , two lead dogs named Zelda and Timor, both intelligent dogs. The team dogs that the swing dogs teamed up with were Reese,Lux,Skadi,Koda,Spike,Storm. She especially liked Storm as he was kind and spoke in a non patronizing calm voice all of the time even when shouting with the other dogs at the start of the race , he remains to have that voice. Storm to Marlen was also the most handsome team dog and had such a strong and nature themed name. Marlen would hate to admit it but she might be in love with Storm. She would see throughout the race and then ask him if he felt the same after the race. Next on sled were the wheel dogs, these dogs were the strongest in the team and took the weight of the sled snd the musher . The Wheel dogs were Danica, Basil, Chinook and Sparta. Sparta was the most terrifying, like a fluffy wolf with bright eyes. |

Kokanee • Male • Swing Dog • Retro Rebels • M: Lead and Team dogs Kokanee pushes forward along side his fellow swing dogs, the melodically in rhythm sound of thundering paws drowning out everything but the occasional calls from the teams musher. He has to jump over one of the tow lines a few times; the team digs not making it any easier. Oh well, he got irritated over everything. He makes sure to kick up a little more snow however. Kona listens to the sounds around him: the thumping of many paws, the jangling and pulling of the harnesses and the lines. Looking over quickly, they can see the other teams ahead, but they definitely weren't the last one. Who knows, maybe if we pick up the pace we can be first to the checkpoint. Kokanee ponders, shaking his head. . This place wasnt exactly was he was used too. Where he was from, it wasnt as icy and snowy, although he hadnt been there long before he was taken into the team. Kona felt colder breath on his rump as they neared Ruby, so close that he could see it now. The canine pushed on and on, having to slow down a bit when he got a little bit too close to the lead dogs, having to give a little bit of slack on the line to avoid running into them on accident. He falters for a second, having to fix himself. That moment was quite terrifying, because he was too worried about messing up everything. Luckily he didnt; but now hes a bit shaky and nervous. |
