Genevieve Caballero

New Rider | Female | Mentions: Vědmák Ohexis

To say that her dragon was odd, was the least of her worries and possibly her concerns. She just looked at the creature in interest wonder, the young woman couldn't believe that she had actually been chosen. She was going to be a future Dragon Rider ; and she couldn't help but feel her heart swell in pride at this revelation - Take that Mother and Father, she thought triumphantly, your daughter is going to be fearsome Dragon Rider and not some bride for some snotty nosed brat. Her parents had been insistent of her arranged marriage to Lord Dellivung's son - a boy being both naive in behavior and childish in actions, expecting a woman serve him hand and foot - and the boy throwing a tantrum if not getting his way. And his poor father always soothing the cries of his man-child - why, when Genevieve had expressed her disgust at the fact the boy thought himself worthy of her ; it sent said boy into a cacophony of blubbering and sniveling, which was met by disappointment from her parents. For her Father to even think that she would idly sit by as he tried to marry her off to such a spineless and insignificant plebeian parasite was insulting. No, not his stubborn daughter - and one who could match his temper when she was upset. Oh yes, she had made a deal with the devil ; if she wasn't chosen then she'd either have to come home and marry the Young Lord, but it she didn't come home - she would be disowned and thrown to the wolves and a laughing stock for the family. However, her gambling had paid off - she was a chosen, and she had the freedom to live her life as a Dragon Rider and not marry at her parents whim. Yet, they still were going to be estranged from her - because of her not wanting to follow the norm and become some passive housewife. Good riddance to them, she thought within her heart - they hadn't been her parents for a while, she only could pray that they soon realized what they had lost. But it was too late, she would come up with her own name, and she would stand on her own two feet - and she wouldn't go groveling back to them. No, she was determined to face the future with her head high, not because she was Caballero - but because she was plain Genevieve, and failure was not in her nature, nor was shirking back in fear.

That's when she felt a touch to her forehead, and she nearly flinched - but was intrigued to see it was her dragon and she only blinked at him at the gesture. But then she felt something, their Bond. She didn't know why, but it felt wild and chaotic - something like a hurricane force of energy and it sent a both a buzz and chill down her spine. Was this what it felt like to be Bonded for life? To merge together for eternity with such noble and reclusive creatures? It felt so exhilarating, and it was like she could feel this pent up energy being released within her. Was this the weight of formality and absurd expectations falling off her shoulders? No longer having to bear the burden nor consequences of having to be perfect at every.single.thing. because the lining eyes of her parents and high society were on her? To some, this might feel like something binding them to a creature for life and it was shackling them down - but no, to her, it was one thing only ; freedom. She couldn't help but itch to see the lands beyond her home - the cultures, the stories, and the adventures she has before her only made her anticipate the next stage of this event. Riding high in the sky, and seeing everything from a different perspective - both literally and figuratively sounded like nothing but a blessing. And if she was lucky, she could possibly learn more about dragons - who knew where this Bond was going to take her, but she just knew that she would do everything in her power not to screw this up.

She had expected the dragon to try and put the rings on his horn, but she was shocked when instead he decided to eat the damned things. And she had to blink in surprise and widen her eyes in shock at the creature, and she raised a hand - concerned, could dragons truly just eat pure metals like that? "Uh, are you sure it's alright for you to eat," and she gave a soft squeak as he coughed up one of the smaller rings, and then decided to place it on his tooth. That was an odd place to keep a ring, but if it made him happy - she thought as she observed the creature. And then she was encased in darkness as he clasped his massive hands around her and then shook. Afterwards, she felt her head throbbing - was it from dizziness or the telepathic speech, the girl would never know. And she could barely stand straight, and she soon eventually found herself stable again. And she communicated back through the telepathic bond, I am glad you appreciate your gifts, you had me concerned for a moment. She spoke with a uncommonly warmer tone of voice through the link, I can't tell what type of dragon you are by just looking at you. You're definitely not Fire, Ice, Water, Storm, Lunar, Light Or Dark. I would say either Earth or Primal, but no, you seem too regal for such species in my opinion. And she scrunched up her face in concentration as she looked at the male with observant eyes - really trying to figure him out. And that's when it clicked, Are you a Psyche Class Dragon? Also what's your name? I can't just call you dragon. She said through their link in curiosity and also to confirm her own suspicions about the dragon. And then at the thought of her being right, she looked at him with a neutral expression, but if you looked deeper in her eyes one would see an underlying feral nature.

Also, what on your thoughts on commiting a murder? And possible world domination? She said with a slight mischievous glint in her eye - but as quick as that glint was there, it was gone just as quick. She could only hope that her dragon was on the same wavelength as her in regards to her question. Maybe she had lost a smidge of sanity with her soul. But that was perfectly fine with her.

Anatolious Rosenberg

Mentor | 19 | Mentions : Desmodus Dracule [dir.], NPC Townies & Shopowners

The young man, had secured most of his things. He had to throw out a painstakingly amount of clothing - most of was either tattered and battered or he had lost weight that they were a bit so loose. He had always been on the slender side, but even with training - he seemed to have lost weight, and he didn't want to think it was also in addition to his insomnia. That wasn't the point, the point was - he was about to go to one of the biggest events in his hometown, and he had no proper clothing to even attend the event. He could feel his annoyance bubble at thought, when had he been so busy that he had even forgotten the luxury of having clean and proper clothes. And looking at his boots - he had to scowl, they were in tact but one could obviously tell the wear and tear would get to them soon. Had he been out here looking like such an unkempt ruffian for these past couple years? Oh, he could hear his mother chewing him out now about his appearance. Yes, this would not do, and he sighed. Ugh, this was such a pain - he thought tiredly, and he had to stretch his limbs in anticipation for his dragon's arrival. Whomst he knew would be grumpy from all this traveling to and fro. But the creature would receive a reward for his hard work. At the note that he would be there soon the male replied coolly through the link ; Alright, I'm at our usual spot, thank you for coming to get me. And he gave a soft hum, and then a few minutes later - the sound of a resounding screech let him know of his dragons arrival. And the male couldn't help but smile at the arrival, and he quickly strode over to the dragon and efficiently and neatly saddled him up and added the luggage to the saddle bags. It wasn't that much added weight, he had carried a couple books and notes, and then a pair of clothing and undergarments and the most important thing of the stash - his pouch for his money. And with that he was ready to depart with his dragon. He gave his dragon a soft pat on his side and enjoyed the sensation of the fur on his hands.

You've been working hard, I just need you to drop me off at town, near the Valley. Then you may go do as you please at the Ceremony, however just be inconspicuous as possible, please. He said through their link, also - anything interesting happen while you were there. I'm sure there were many interesting and fresh faces this year. You can tell me while we fly, if you'd like. Also, I'll brush and attend to your fur once I get some new tools from Town since your old ones are broken. And he said that with a thoughtful tone, and slight hum of voice. But now he was truly ready to leave this life behind him. He gave one last look to the barracks that he called home for a couple years, and he swore that he felt bad for leaving without saying goodbye in person, but he knew he'd bump into his old group again. He had faith in it, and he knew he'd come back a different person. Who knows, maybe one day - he'd be a teacher at this place and having someone leave. Before he changed his mind he looked forward and prepared himself for ascension.

"Let's go," he whispered softly.

A Ride Later, Desmodus Dropped Anatolious Off In Town - And Afterwards Departed

It was quite interesting the stares and whispers that the young man received as he made his towards a business. They were selling clothing and that's what he needed at the moment ; he browsed through the collection of shirts and found two tunics that he liked ; one black and one white, each having long sleeves. And then he noticed what could be described as a lovely golden and black doublet - it would fit his look perfectly and so he added it to his wardrobe. And then he found two good pair of quality leather boots that fit his feet comfortably and would be good for riding in. After paying for his clothing, he then proceeded around town ; buying miscellaneous items - expensive soap, combs and brushes for his hair along with Desmodus, and some scissors for trimming, along with some hoistery and garter belts for cooler months. He had a good bag of items. And now he was on his way to his final destination before heading to the Valley - a bathhouse. And an upper scale one at that, and he made his way to the front desk to receive the services of the bathhouse; he watched as the clerk took in his appearance without interest and continued scribbling in his book. And Anatolious found this very rude, and he cleared his throat before asking, "May I request a private bathing chamber?" and he gave a polite smile to the man. Who blatantly ignored his question and this caused Anatolious to ring the bell three times. Which caused a look of irritation on the bastard's face in which Anatolious smiled.

"Good, now that I have your attention. I am asking to use your bathhouse and you are ignoring me? Should I take my patronage somewhere else? Because, I was informed this was the best bathhouse in the nation, and here I am dealing with your crude behavior." He spoke with eloquence and nothing more than a sweet smile on his face, his voice never faltering nor raising - yet once could clearly sense the disappointment and dissatisfaction in his tone of voice. And the man could do nothing but scoff at him, and then had the audacity to look at him up and down - as if he were some lowly trash.

"Can you even afford the prices here? ; it's over sixty golden pieces." The man spoke with an irritatingly nasal tone of voice, one having an heir of supposed regality and superiority, "I'm sure someone of your appearance cannot afford such - hence, my hesitation in allowing you in this establishment. Can't have you upsetting my clients."

"How dare you," Anatolious began, "you speak with supposed superiority, but you sound like an uneducated fool. If I couldn't afford this bathhouse - I wouldn't have come at all you pot-bellied knave, and better yet, I haven't even used my title and yet you disrespect me. The House Of Rosenberg will be most be displeased with hearing of how you're conducting business here."

"H-House Rosenberg?" Came the shaky reply as the man's eyes widened in horror and shock. The grip on his quill turning his knuckles white.

"Yes, my father will be h-"

"My M-My Lord, please appease your anger at my incompetence. Please forgive this foolish old man - you requested a private bathing room, I shall get you one right away, M'Lord." The male pratically rambled out as he came from out behind the stand, and Anatolious only raised a brow - he would have to do better than that, and he could see the man's Adam's Apple bob before speaking again, "The expenses for your bath shall come out of my pay My Honorable Lord, and you will be provided a full meal and finest quality wine and desserts if you would like. And only my best attendant shall serve you - what would you like to eat, and what scents shall perfume your water?"

At this, Anatolious was satisfied and said, "I would like your finest bread with butter, along with pheasant and peaches. As for my bath water ; rose petals and lavender." he stated simply as he looked at his nails boredly. They had gotten longer, and he wondered if he should cut them down a bit. He soon heard the shuffling of the man before him again and this time a woman was with him. She was quite a lovely lady, and she wore a simple green dress with a crisp white apron and a white bonnet on her head. She held an assortment of towels and a gentle smile on her face.

"Your attendant ; Miss Maisie Durikins, she will take care of you, sir." the clerk spoke and Anatolious simply nodded as he was directed to the room that would be his.

They soon arrived in a nice private room ; and the door was closed behind them - and he could feel the heat of the water within the room. "Please remove your clothing my lord," came the soft voice of Maisie, "shall your hair be treated today as well?"

Anatolious gave a contemplative hum as he unbuttoned his shirt ; but he gave a simple nod saying, "Yes, I would like my hair treated today." He was pampering himself, and it would be best if he did look his best at the ceremony ; he couldn't look incompetent or heinous. And the young woman only got a seperate bucket of water and a ladle.

Once he was undressed, he simply immersed himself in the scented water, and a sigh of relief escaped his lips. He had forgotten how great heated baths were, and he leaned back in comfort - letting the water heat up his cool skin. Then Maisie began her services and using a scrub she began cleaning him - it was a bit akward ; especially at the amount of grime and dirt that was coming of him, and the dead skin. She had even taken to scraping his feet until they were soft again and then massaging them with lotions and oils. And the bath was almost done - she just needed to wash his hair, as she used the ladle to soak his long hair he could feel her observing him.

"Do you not have a wife to help you with this lovely hair of yours." She asked casually as she gently scratched his scalp - letting the ashes and egg whites get into his hair and then he could smell some nice smelling herbs within the mixture. And she rinsed his hair thoroughly before using an ivory comb to gently comb through the curls.

"No," Anatolious replied, a slight blush coming to his face, "I am unmarried, my mother did want me to get married but I refused to do so." He said with a slight chuckle, but he didn't expect the young lady

Observing with amusement, the sides of K'issuk's muzzle peeled upwards to form a smile. With a knowing smile, K'issuk observed as Kaia and Aalis engaged in a brief conversation. She took pleasure in the fact that her two closest companions were finally meeting. Rather than intruding, she chose to remain silent, relishing the moment until Aalis turned her attention towards her.

"Our decision to stay afloat in the water was a deliberate attempt to steal a few moments of tranquility before stepping into our roles as mentors," she began, explaining the reasoning behind their lack of entry. "So far, it seems our presence wasn't as urgently required as I had anticipated." She cast a meaningful glance at Kaia and then shifted her focus back to the valley, taking note of the dragons. Fortunately, everything appeared to be running smoothly.

K'issuk subtly adjusted her posture, resting her hands gently on her chest as she gracefully inclined her head when Aalis mentioned the Northern Lights, mirroring her companion's gesture. "I, too, long for the Northern Lights," she began, lowering her talons and raising her head. "Kaia and I have seen many wonders, but the Northern Lights are not one of them. I yearn for the opportunity to experience them once more, this time with our humans." K'issuk's dorsal fins perked up at the mere thought of a return. The breathtaking sight of the lights, especially when viewed from the sea, was a cherished memory. Among the numerous wonders she had witnessed, that particular sight held a special place in her heart.

Her focus returned to Kaia, who she noticed was beginning to move away. "Please, go ahead," she suggested, giving him a friendly wave and a single nod of acknowledgment. "I'll be nearby," she assured him as he jogged off and disappeared into a crowd of humans. She watched his departure for a few moments, taking note of his whereabouts before returning her attention to Aalis, who was admiring the various dragons.

"Indeed, there are some truly intriguing ones," K'issuk commented, observing the peculiarities that set each dragon apart. She blinked as she witnessed a dragon with no eyes somehow tracking its rider, while another stood on its hind legs. "Quite fascinating," she murmured in agreement with Aalis. However, her attention was suddenly drawn to a loud roar that echoed through the air.

Her eyes swiftly locked onto a fire dragon, and she observed as the skies painted themselves with various shades of oranges and reds as the massive creature descended. K'issuk's tail thumped the ground with unease as the newcomer bared its teeth to anyone unfortunate enough to be nearby. She was prepared to intervene, but the dragon abruptly stopped, vanishing into the woods.

"Best keep my eye on him." K'issuk understood that not all dragons were equally eager to bond with humans, and there was a fine line between reluctance and outright hostility. At this moment, she was uncertain about where the fire dragon stood and whether he posed a genuine threat.

"Allow me accompany you on my way to greet the newcomer," she began, compromising between the two options. "I doubt that anything will happen, but still, I must ensure that everything is alright." Without a further word, K'issuk lightly bumped her muzzle against her friend's cheek and motioned her forwards.

"Now, tell me. Which direction is the pull strongest?"

Dark Dragon | Male | New Dragon | Mentions: Ahura, Skylar

The blind dragon appreciated that both humans seemed to take his words seriously and didn't move during his inspection of them. He understand many were uncomfortable with him, though a big part of that had to do with the aura he had, the passive ability always present unless he reigned it in. Unfortunately, since he was focusing on keeping his shadow at bay he couldn't focus on that too.

A soft clicking sound came from his jaws as he slowly rocked back onto his haunches, lifted his foreleg so his jagged, overgrown claws on that hand flexed and opened a few times. His head cocked to the side as he listened and his tongue flicked out like a snake before curling up against the side of his face. His long tail moved to lay on the ground around the pair of humans, loosely circled around them so that there was a barrier between them and others.

"Yes," he rasped out, sickly voice ending with an audible hiss. "I am a Dark Dragon, though often I'm not what many have in mind when they think of one," he explained half heartedly, used to the judgments by now. "I cannot see the sun but I can feel it, I am okay for now. The sebum I produce protects me and my scales from the direct light, like what you humans use to protect your skin from the sun," the male spoke calmly, stating facts of truth than his own feelings really. "You'll get used to it, I know it's unpleasant at first. But your skin should absorb it like a natural moisturizer, it won't harm you, human," he tried to assure the human, knowing the mucus he was coated in was not everyone's cup of tea.

His head swayed between Ahura and his companion and back, before offering them a brief of apology. "Also," he coughed on the word and cleared his throat before continuing, sickly sound created as he swallowed. "My apologies if my aura is... off-putting I cannot reel it in right now while also keeping my shadow reeled in. I do not wish to harm anyone so it's oft better I keep the shadow away than the aura," he explained briefly, wanting the pair to know that despite his menacing aura he was no threat to either of them.

This time Sevo turned his unseeing attention onto Skylar and nodded gently in greeting. "And who... might your companion be, A-hura?" He slowly extended overgrown talons until they tapped gently on the girls forehead. "You have the scent of sunshine and daisy blossoms to me, young one, should any dragon choose you, they are a lucky one," he offered the compliment. Not being able to see, Sevo relied heavily on his other senses, particularly scent. While others complimented others looks, he did the same for scent, and even movement at times. From him, having a good scent was about the highest compliment one could achieve.

Laika Herriman || New Rider || Dragon: Beollan || M: Beollan

"It's the war dragon!... Beollan, Beollan... Did you see that? He's massive!... I thought he'd died centuries ago; maybe this is a descendant?... It's got to be him... Famous!"

The whispers of dragon lore fanatics all around her grew to an excited, fearful frenzy of buzzing murmurs. Laika was kneeling on the ground, fistfuls of grass clutched in trembling fists. What had happened? Her lower jaw quaked as she tried to focus. She'd been standing before, right? Or sitting? She certainly hadn't been kneeling. And then a great shadow had overtaken the valley, followed by a shriek steadily increasing in note and volume that had changed into a roar.

Her whole body had felt the tone, almost as though she herself had bellowed into the sky, and the lighting had turned orange for the briefest moment as a firestorm erupted from the giant dragon's maw. She'd felt that, too, but it had been so high in the sky... That must have been when she had fallen.

When the dragon landed, it seemed that all the stories of the great wars and the dragons and riders who fought them were all true. Nothing myth about them. He moved off into the woods, and Laika suddenly felt a tearing sensation in her chest. She hadn't realized that the nausea, aches, and feeling of slowly losing her grip on her sanity had subsided until the dragon -- Beollan, the people were calling him, or some dragon related to the legend -- turned away from her.

Laika's mind was whirring as she stood, brushing the dirt and blades of green from her hands. She felt a new kind of ill, as though she was chasing her own doom. Was that how this dragon felt? If it was Beollan the Skycleaver, and if she recalled her history lessons and trivia correctly, his rider had been killed in battle long ago. The dragon had long been thought dead of a broken heart. Such a violent end to a bond would certainly explain the flashbacks she'd been having. And such a severed bond couldn't possibly feel comfortable... But why was she feeling drawn to a dragon that was already bonded? Was it possible to bond twice?

There was only one way to find out, and that was to see if the dragon reciprocated the agony she had been in the past several days. Weeks, even. With stiff movements and limbs of lead, Laika moved into the forest after the angry dragon, mentally telling herself that if she died now, at least it would be an end to whatever ailed her, even if it wasn't the preferred one.

Her footsteps were those of a ghost as she approached the massive, brooding creature. Her breath had long been caught in her throat, and it only tightened as she saw all the old scars crossing the pitch black body of the dragon, particularly along his ribs on the side she stood. This was most definitely the dragon from the stories, and he was most definitely not dead.

A thousand emotions flashed through her: relief that she wasn't going mad yet, apprehension at the thought of being bonded, doubt that she was even bonded, worry that everyone was about to be let down, acceptance when it felt as though she was a little more whole than she'd shown up as. The young woman was embarrassed at the pain and hint of reproach that entered her taut voice as she rasped out a name that had never left her lips.

"Beo."

Aalis Soile
Light Dragon | New Dragon | Female | Mentions: K'issuk, Skylar, Sevo, Ahura
Indirectly Mentions: Beollan, Ananth, Rhyhor, Mariana, Kavik, Beollan, Laika

The Light Dragon hummed pleasantly as she watched the dragons and humans mingle, and continued the sound in a different pitch as acknowledgement of her friends words. She watched as a human woman approached the large, seemingly aggressive fire dragon, and Aalis took that, as well as K'issuk's muzzle against her cheek, as her sign to begin walking towards her own rider.

The pale dragoness was careful as she moved through the sea of humans, marvelling at how small all of them were, despite being so intelligent and creating so many fantastic and beautiful things. Her steps grew slow in her attempt to avoid stepping on any of the humans, watching them skitter out from beneath her tall, slim figure. To assure them of her good intentions, a low sound, one intended for comfort, rumbled out of her lungs.

When the pair passed by the closest they would be to the fire dragon, Aalis paused, gently tapping the tip of her tail against the closest body part of K'issuk. She swung her head around, turning kind, ever-changing eyes to her companion. "I assume this is where we must part for the day, my friend," the female said, snaking her head forward to bump her muzzle against K'issuk's. "I saw a little human girl approaching him, I assume you wish to be nearby for that, in case he reacts badly. I hope he does not give you too much trouble, and be sure to call out if he does," Aalis muttered, blinking slowly at her friend in fondness.

Whilst the Light Dragon was not a violent creature by nature, to defend a friend in need, she was always ready to jump in. The fire dragon would do damage to her, his size alone making him a formidable opponent if it came to it, but Aalis would rather be by her friends side. And, of course, the dragoness hoped it wouldn't come to that, but one could never be too careful. Dragons, as with all creatures, could be unpredictable.

With the assumed parting, Aalis continued onward, following the pull of the bond. It led her, slowly but surely, to the edge of the crowd, and towards a group that seemed to be dispersing, various members pulled away by dragons. A young woman was grabbed by a storm dragon and hauled away, a young man pulled backwards off of a boulder by an earth dragon. The lack of screams or sounds of gore assured her that they were bonds, and not dragons looking for snacks, and allowed the female to focus on the remaining two humans.

The unnerving dragon was with the pair, the eyeless sockets peering at nothing while he sniffed the humans, and even licked one of them, while circling his tail around the pair that remained. The dragon, one that Aalis concluded was likely a Dark Dragon, didn't seem aggressive, despite what his aura gave off, or the subtle scent that radiated off of him.

Assuming his blindness due to the lack of eyes and unaware if he could sense anything around him, Aalis made sure to make a soft cooing noise as she approached the group, announcing her presence. The sound was low, one for gentleness, to reassure them of her good intentions as she neared. She settled nearby, close enough to reach out and grab her rider, the woman, if need be, but not close enough to be touching the Dark Dragon.

"I apologize," she said softly, making herself seem as non-threatening as possible by settling in a laying position, her legs folded underneath her, her wings resting on her back, and tail curled loosely around herself, near where the Dark Dragon's tail loosely curled around the two humans, but not quite touching. "I believe my rider is that woman there, would you be so kind as to let her come and touch me? I don't mind you being close, and I hope you don't mind me, but I do need her," Aalis said, leaning her head forward, closer to her rider.

Truly, she didn't mind the darker dragon, as unnerving as everyone seemed to think he was. It caused a pill of sadness to form in her heart at the thought of everyone treating him this way for his entire life. Isolation was something chosen by some, and forced upon others.

He seemed kind enough, only the aura and smell being what made him seem threatening to most. And, as much as originally stepping into his space had caused a jolt of adrenaline to run down her spine, once she had settled, she found only mild discomfort and a slight uptick in her heartbeat to be what occurred. In fact, the dragoness found herself hoping that the two humans were friends, so that she may also form a friendship with the Dark Dragon.

"Hello, dears," Aalis continued, turning her attention to the humans. "You are my rider," she said to the woman, voice kind. "My name is Aalis Soile, and I am a Light Dragon," she added, introducing herself to the group.

Beollan the Skycleaver
Fire Dragon | Male | Returned Dragon | Mentions: Laika, Others [Ind]

A somber hiss that ended in a whining groan escaped the giant male's lips as he tried to get comfortable in his place. It was impossible though, he was far too tense, and likely looked like a cat who had been cornered and was ready to strike.

His whole body shuddered, a wave like motion going through his body as he finally lowered onto his belly, his wings extending to form flame-hued shadows on the ground before withdrawing back to his sides. His long tail waved behind him in agitation, matching the scowling grimace that pinched his features together.

Ember eyes focused on the valley, the mass of human clumped together with a few dragons sporadically mixed in with him scrutinzed under his gaze. All of their presence did little more than exasperbate his aleady foul temper, it had been so long since he'd be around any living thing let alone a whole group of them. It was almost exhaustive.

Truthfully, Beollan probably would have refused to come if the tug in his chest hadn't gotten quite painful over the last few days. It had felt like an arrow to his chest with every throb, reminding him of the very day that severed his original bond forever. The reminder of things past was the last thing he had needed, so to dim the pain he had begrudgingly decided to go. He didn't think it was a good idea though. He had never desired another rider, never wanted to soar through the skies with one or conquer battles. He definitely didn't want to share his mind with one, and there was a part of him that didn't think a human could handle his mind nowadays. His mind was a prison, torturing the weak and hollowing out the strong. It was no place for a feeble human surely.

Beollan let out a growling hiss, smoke billowing from his nostrils and vents, creating a smokey fog around him, briefly obscuring his vision. When the smoke cleared a tall human woman had approached him, something about her seemed... different. But he couldn't quite place it. Her presence calmed him, while also instinctively enraged him. And he knew why the moment she whispered his name.

"You."

He snarled out the name, his lips peeled back to bare his teeth at her, smoke rolling from him as sparks lept in the back of his throat. He rose to his full height, baring down on the human as he arced his neck to look at her. This was his rider, the one he was supposed to bond with. The one he was expected to replace Evianna with.

The mere thought of his original rider had rage boiling up in his throat like molten lava, his anger simmering beneath the surface of his scales and he felt his temperature increase, causing the air around him to grow hotter. His claws dug into the soft dirt beneath him, almost bracing himself where he stood, and his tail lashed out violently, slamming into a near by tree, breaking it almost completely, before plowing into the ground with enough force to send vibrations through the ground.

In a display that was almost territorial, Beollan stretched both of his wings out, his head lifting up as the sound of his snarls grew louder. His chest heaved with incomprehensible anger, his lungs struggling to pull in oxygen with every breath. An almost wild panic dilated his eyes so that they appeared as almost completely black saucers on his face. Smoke began to stream steadily out from him, pouring from his parted jaws and the vents that kept opening and closing on his face. Anyone who looked at the dragon would be able to see how tense he was, coiled like a spring that could snap under the slightest pressure. It was then that Beollan finally moved his eyes to lock with the girl's, finally daring to make eye contact.

Suddenly, without any warning, Beollan's eyes closed and he shook his head side to side, slowly at first before it quickly became more violent. He let out a bellowing roar, the sound agonized, almost tortured, as the bond snapped into place in his mind. His front talons released the ground, allowing him to rear up onto his hind legs, jaws parting to the sky as his wings reached out on either side of him. As the pained roar came to a close, a plume of raging fire erupted from his jaws, before it too ended, revealing a sinister and pained look on his face as he slowly stared down at the woman.

With a slight jerk of his head, Beollan's jaws opened agan, the light in the back of his throat glowing as he pulled him head back slowly, taking aim at the soul below, and unleashed a inferno down at her. Not even the sound of horrified gasps or cries in terror pulled Beollan out of his state of mind, he merely his flames pour out of him at the poor human, intent on erasing any trace of her existence from this plane.

Kaia Seelen
Mentor | Male | Mentions: Nicodemus, Ilithyia, K'issuk
Indirectly Mentions: Aalis, Lara [NPC], Beollan, Laika, Desmodus

Kaia's grin was boyish when he was greeted by Ilithyia's purred greeting, nodding his head to the dragoness, before listening to Nico's words. Although, his lips did tug down for a few moments as he watched Desmodus leave the group, and he tilted his head in brief thought. The man hummed in thought when Nico spoke about Lara, settling down in a crouched position, clearly comfortable as he did so.

"If it was urgent enough, they may have needed her for speed alone," Kaia agreed, rubbing along his jaw with one of his hands, sighing. "You'd think they'd let us know if there was a change in plans, though. Leadership's gotta get their shit together eventually," he said, mumbling the last part under his breath as he rolled his eyes and tilted his head to look back at the valley. When he spotted K'issuk and Aalis moving through the crowd, any part of his irritation was forgotten as he pointed them out.

That was, very quickly, forgotten, though, when he heard a loud roar rip through the valley. He whipped his head up, watching as a gigantic fire dragon coloured the sky in reds, oranges and yellows before landing, and Kaia nearly tripped over his own feet in his haste to stand, his mouth agape.

"Holy shit," he breathed, a disbelieving sound coming from him. "Is that- it is," he said, speaking mostly to himself, before turning to Nico, eyes wide. "That's Beollan the Skycleaver, it has to be," he said, gesturing to the fire dragon. "Those vents on his head, the colours are the same, he fits the exact description, just bigger and older. He seems too old to be a descendant, right? Beollan would be centuries old now," Kaia knew he was nerding out a bit, but, well. Could anyone blame him? Actually, Nico probably would.

"This changes so much that we know about the bonds," Kaia continued, speaking primarily to himself now. "We're gonna have to write and tell the academy that Beollan has returned for a new rider, new books are going to have to be written," he said, practically giddy with this new information. Beollan had come back for a new rider, it was unheard of! In fact, most had assumed Beollan was dead, that he didn't return to the academy because he had died from his wounds, or from heartbreak.

And then, of course, Kaia had to watch as a young woman approached Beollan and the huge fire dragon began what could only be described as a territorial display. "Shit," he said out loud, watching in growing horror, having to sit with the knowledge that he wouln't be able to get there to do anything. 'K'issuk,' he tried through the bond, watching as the dragon breathed fire into the air.

And then, slowly, Beollan turned his head down, and lit the woman on fire. "K'issuk!" Kaia called out loud, not knowing if the dragon could hear him, barely looking at where she was before he was moving. 'K'issuk, that big fire dragon is the Beollan, the one from all those books and stories, and he's just lit his new fucking rider on fire,' Kaia said through the bond, adrenaline making him move quickly as he climbed and hiked back down from the cliff. He tried to stave off his panic, shoving it down so it wouldn't cloud his own judgement or push through the bond to K'issuk.

As soon as his feet his flat ground, Kaia took off at a sprint, pushing through the crowd and yelling ahead to make people part the way for him as he ran to the scene. He knew, he knew, he wouldn't reach the woman in time. If K'issuk couldn't save her, then she was dead, but if K'issuk could save her, then Kaia wanted, needed, to be there to get her to safety, and he knew he could trust K'issuk to talk to Beollan.

Cautiously surveying her surroundings, K'issuk trailed behind Aalis, vigilant to ensure no harm came to any humans. At one point, she paused, her attention drawn to a child cradled in his mother's arms who gazed at her with wide-eyed curiosity. K'issuk, with a gentle inclination of her head, directed a delicate puff of smoke towards the child, momentarily pausing to relish the sight of his face lighting up with a smile. Lightly, she touched his chubby cheek with a single finger, lingering for a brief moment before continuing on her way, a grin of her own upon her features.

Following her friend, she halted abruptly once more when her chest was gently tapped, turning her gaze to Aalis. She listened to her words and offered a small nod. "I'm certain everything will be fine. Do not worry about that, you have your rider to find," she whispered, extending her talons to rest them softly on Aalis' shoulder, offering a comforting squeeze. "Good luck, and call me if you need anything. You know that I am always happy to help." K'issuk removed her hand and watched her friend depart with a heartwarming smile. However, her focus shifted back to the forest where the fire dragon lay hidden, and where a current woman was approaching.

As she observed, K'issuk's tail swayed with unease, her eyes narrowing as she moved closer. Certain dragons, particularly those reserved or hostile, didn't take kindly to humans approaching them. Thus, she made her move, gracefully slithering toward the fire dragon and the woman, emitting a low warning wail to alert both humans and dragons to make way.

All at once, her nostrils flared, witnessing the fire dragon's sudden aggressive actions. He was in a rage, thrashing his tail with such power that a tree was shattered in two. His body expanded in a territorial display, his wings unfolding and a roar echoing through the air. In response, K'issuk quickened her pace, keeping herself close to the ground as she moved forward. Her once gentle hum of kindness had transformed into something ominous. A screeching wail emanated from her parted maw, ensuring that both humans and dragons stayed clear.

And then, Kaia spoke to her, speaking of Beollan, the one from the books he had told her about. A hiss escaped her, wings pressed tightly against her sides to increase her speed. 'Beollan the Skycleaver?' She spoke to him, attempting to remember the words from the stories. Glancing to the side, she noted the approaching figure of Kaia, to which she released a loud snarl his way.

'Don't get close,' she hissed to him in warning, her gaze locked on Beollan. If that woman was his rider, and if he was preparing to hurt her, there was no knowing what he would do to a random human such as Kaia. Shaking her head, she pressed forward, horror striking as the flames gathered in Beollan's throat, signaling his intent to unleash a fiery assault. K'issuk's response was immediate and unwavering, her own maw opening wide to release a resounding roar that shook her surroundings. She surged forward, her movements guided by a mix of protective instincts and determination. Her jaws displayed a menacing array of jagged teeth, the water within her own throat swirled, preparing to be unleashed.

She reached the duo just as fire erupted from Beollan's mouth.

Gasps and screams filled the air as the action progressed, to which K'issuk instantly parted her jaw further, spewing water at the woman. Water met fire, and just for that brief moment of delay, she sprung into action. As steam rose and blinded her surroundings, she seized the opportunity. Lashing out with her tail, she wrapped it around the woman's body and pulled her toward herself. Pausing for a moment as water continued to pour from her throat, she released a low rumble and deftly rolled the woman in Kaia's direction, her wings unfolding in the process.

'Get her out of here and make sure that she's alright while I have a word with him.' K'issuk instructed, her gaze still fixated on the fire dragon even after the oredeal had passed. Her extended wings acted as a protective blockage between Beollan and Kaia, ensuring their safe retreat. If anything were to happen, it would be herself that would be injured, a risk that she would gladly take if it meant her own rider was safe.

K'issuk's annoyance blazed like the very flames that she had just faced. In that moment, her instincts took over, and her protective instincts as a dragon were in full display. Her entire body was extended to appear bigger, muscles rippling beneath her thick skin. Her lowered head, with fangs fully bared, was a silent threat, a clear message to Beollan that any attempt to harm the two under her watchful gaze would be met with force.

She wasn't sure how much damage a dragon such as herself could do against an older, more powerful and experienced one like him, but K'issuk would try nonetheless if hostility was directed towards Kaia. She would have jumped into the fire herself if it meant that he would be safe.

With a huff, K'issuk sent a snarl Beollan's way, her talons firmly anchored in the ground. Once she was certain that Kaia and the woman were at a safe distance, K'issuk gradually lowered her wings. Resuming a more amiable and less aggressive stance, her tail began to sway, signalling the end to her little display.

From what she recalled, the fire dragon in the stories was a force to be reckoned with, but it changed when he lost his rider. If this were truly him, which K'issuk believed it to be, then he must be in great pain. With that in mind, she lowered her guard and showed no further signs of hostility. She simply gazed at him, studying him for a moment before speaking.

"Are you the one they call Beollan?"

The man ran like his own life depended on how fast his legs could push him, his lungs aching, his heart pumping loudly in his ears. While he often listened to K'issuk's words, Kaia found himself paying them little attention in this scenario, ignoring her warning in favour of sprinting as fast as he could towards the two dragons. The people of the crowd pushed and pulled together, some trying to part the sea to clear his way, others too enthralled by the murderous dragon to move.

The man finally neared as K'issuk grabbed the woman and moved her in his direction. Kaia dropped his weight, skidding to a stop beneath the young woman, cushioning most of her tumble to the ground with his body. He was moving again before he'd even begun to let himself calm down, eyes scanning the new rider for injuries as he pulled them both to a standing position.

For the most part, Kaia would consider the woman lucky. Mainly, she seemed to be bruised, likely from K'issuk's blast, with a decent burn on her arm. Her clothes also seemed to be a little singed, the sleeve on her burned arm and her jacket taking a solid hit. That, and she was also soaking wet.

"My name's Kaia," the man said softly to the woman as he wrapped an arm around her and quickly moved them away from the two dragons. He knew K'issuk was waiting for them to be far enough away before she dropped her guard towards Beollan. "That water dragon is mine, her name's K'issuk Ràn, she's really lovely, even if she blasted you with water," he said, hoping that if he spoke, he could keep her alert, and perhaps distracted from her injuries.

"K'issuk and I are mentors, but you and I are gonna head over to the Squad Leaders, okay?" He muttered, glancing up to check if Nico and Ilithyia were still on the cliff. "And we're gonna do a medical check for you and make sure nothing too bad happened, alright?"

He did his best to keep his voice soft and slow, as well as his breathing. The last thing he needed to do was panic, which could push the woman into a panic of her own, or any of the potential students around them. He kept the shaking of his hands away, forced his voice to not tremble. Sure, dragons hurt the humans sometimes, that didn't stop it from being a harrowing event for the mentors, though.
