Bog inclined his head to Frost and Aspen, accepting the answer. "I will go too, and bring some back for those that don't want to make the journey in this muck." He flicked his ear at Hop, a few extra droplets bouncing off the smaller buck's brown nose.
Hop wrinkled his nose and sneezed. Even if Bog didn't bring anything back, he would rather wait out the wstuff cheeksher under a leaky bush or a taller rabbit.
"Er, Warchief?" Oat poked her head out of the warren, her dirt-caked fur running brown as the water pried the mud from her tiny ears and big head. "There's just about enough room. At least a few rabbits can get some shelter from the rain, just for a bit." |

Flurry|3.4|Excavator|M: Oat, Frost The speckled doe lay close to the unfinished burrow. It was small but at least some could get shelter. She watched closely as Oat talked to the warcheif, too far to tell what she was saying though. Flurry shook the water off of her fur. The rain had become much worse and the wind had picked up. She thought a bit about what food they had found and what would happen. Flurry kept her ears back to prevent water from getting in, closing her eyes in the storm.

Moon watched as the patrollers talked with the warcheif. She couldn't help but wonder why or what they would talk about for this long. Curious, the silver rabbit hopped over. She sat close to them and heard the warchief say that everyone would get their own berries for they were close. Moon smiled and listened to the rest and Oat as she spoke to the warchief about the burrow. She was excited and knew it could be safe but having everyone go at once could lead to someone getting attacked by a predator even if their was no sightings present. The doe sighed, knowing that Frost was the warcheif and she trusted him. She lay down, listening to the conversation while the rain poured on her silvery coat. |

The readiness of the two patrollers impressed the warchief, though he could understand why Hop would rather wait. The mud was probably tough on the buck's old injury - and he had travelled far already, it seemed. "Thank you," Frost said, "I'm sure we'll all be glad to stuff cheeks something aside from soggy grass."
As Oat spoke, Frost hopped over to her, giving the excavator his full attention. "Excellent work, Oat." Time out of the rain would be appreciated by everyone, he thought. For him, definitely. "We've found some berry bushes that are close to the warren and no sign of any predators - you're welcome to visit them, but I'd like to tell everyone and make sure we're all in the same burrow, so to speak." The words were an effort for the shy rabbit, especially given the wstuff cheeksher overhead, but he knew he wasn't done yet. Frost stamped loudly with his right hindpaw, an action he knew would act on instincts drilled into the rabbits over a thousand generations. Frost could see Flurry and Moon close by and already listening - it was likely Moon had overheard him, and there were Leaper, Scruff, and Splash looking up.
"Everyone," the pale rabbit called, raising his voice over the wind, "I have some announcements to make. Aspen, Hop, and Bog have found a berry bush to the east of the warren. It's not far, and there's no sign of predators. Feel free to visit it, but be back by nightfall. I don't want to lose anyone to bobcats. Same for tomorrow - those of us who aren't patrollers shouldn't be out in mid-day, so we don't run into sabers or hawks. If you see any sign of a predator, don't hesitate to tell Aspen or me.
"Secondly, thanks to the hard work of our excavators, we have a start on the warren. It won't fit all of us, though, so we'll have to sleep in shifts. If you would like to sleep outside, you may. Would anyone like to volunteer to do so?" |

Hop & Bog / Patrollers / Mentions: Frost, Aspen, Oat Bog glanced longingly at the burrow before shoving his smaller littermate towards the entrance. He knew how the cold bit into Hop's old injury.
He moved closer to Aspen. The sooner they could get the berries, the sooner he could sleep. Probably out in the cold, but still, any sleep would be a blessing if it was on a full belly.
Oat glanced up at the sky unhappily before crawling out of the burrow. Two more bucks could fit in if the big doe stayed out. |

Scruff | nestizen | Mentions: Frost, Open! Scruff looked up from the spot where the blueberries sat. Frost was giving instructions about food and sleeping arrangements. 'Well I am kinda small so I should be able to fit in the burrow' Scruff thought before grabbing the stick with berries and hopping over to Frost. Once to the side of him, Scruff dropped the blueberries. "Bog had brought some blueberries when the patrol group came back, so some of the rabbits who don't want to travel in the stormy wstuff cheeksher can stuff cheeks these." Scruff basically hollered so Frost could hear him over the wind. The wind was blowing very hard, the small buck lowered his ears trying to hear something besides the loud whistle of the wind. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Splash | Yearling | Mentions: Scruff?, Open! Splash looked at her father as he gave instructions about food and sleeping arrangements. Splash did not want to sleep out in the open so she did not volunteer, since she was small for now until she grew up. Scruff's multicolored fur could be seen out of the corner of Splash's eye. She noticed he was carrying some blueberries. Her stomach growled, she was very hungry, she wanted to stuff her face with the berries but held the urge in. Splash did not want to get in trouble with her father. |

Flurry|3.4|Excavator|M: Frost, Moon, Oat Flurry could tell they were heading off into the woods to get some berries. Her stomach gurgled, seeming to be angry at her. The doe stood on sore paws, hopping over to the others. She wanted to rush ahead and get some food but knew better and wanted to see what everyone else would do. She looked back at the burrow as Oat crawled out. We need to finish that burrow soon. Flurry thought to herself, looking back to the warchief, seeing her daughter quite close to them before losing sight of her. The storm was still bad as the sun lowered in the sky. Moon|1.3|Hauler|M: Everyone..? Moon wasted not a second and was already off in the woods by the time the warcheif was done speaking. She raced off and quickly caught the scent of the berries. Moon was the first one there, besides the patrollers that were already there earlier. The silver doe didn't collect many, placing two blackberries on her back, within her fur. She then headed a short distance to the blueberry bush, again, placing two on her back. She ate a few until she knew she'd stuff cheeksen enough but there were plenty to go around. She kept the four berries on her back and safe. She planned to get them back to the warren and plant them in the ground so they'd have berries close to the warren. She wanted this to be a surprise though. The silver doe slowly hopped back, looking at her surroundings as the rain dropped on her coat. |

Frost looked around at his rabbits, huddled together in the cold. The little motions of their bodies made sense to him; it was clear who was willing to sleep outside and who wasn't. Frost was of the latter category himself. It would be poor for the whole warren if illness was to take his life - for Aspen to have to adjust to both her new role and leave the patrol of the foreign area to an inexperienced leader was far from ideal.
With that in mind, the buck called, "Alright, for first shift in the burrow will be myself, Hop, and Scruff. At midnight, Flurry, Leaper, Splash, and Moon can take our places."
As Scruff spoke, the big Warchief's ears turned to the small nestizen. "That's a good idea, Scruff." At the sound of Moon leaping into the woods, alarm shot through Frost and he had to stop the impulse to stamp in surprise. Doing so would only start a panic.
"Feel free to lead the way, Aspen," he said instead, perturbed. |

Stopping every so often to make sure they all were behind her after a few minutes they got there all the rabbits seemed exited "here we are!" She said |

Hop gave his littermate a lingering glance before wiggling into the burrow for his shift. They all needed to be strong, well-rested, and well-fed.
Bog loped after Aspen, ears on a swivel, nose to the wind, but otherwise very calm for a buck in a more or less unknown land.
The patroller circled the bushes once or twice as the others ate, wary of anything desperate enough to face the wstuff cheeksher. Nothing willing to leave their shelter in this wstuff cheeksher would be put off by a few kicks or an energetic flight through the larch woods. |
