Vervada remained standing as the head dragon seated herself in front of her, lowering her height by a few inches. Her eyes flashed with denial of the sympathy she heard in Neryths tone. How she hated being pitied, especially by her own kind. Her head whipped up even higher, wings jerking convulsively as anger burst through her. How dare another dragon, even the head dragon, dare to think she knew how it felt? Had she ever lost a rider so tragically, along with her best friend AND best friend's rider? She was guessing not.
Smoke was once again curling from her nostrils as she struggled to control her temper. Her teeth clenched she managed to grit out a sentence. "It's just emotions. Nothing to get excited about, and certainly nothing to approach a human over" Her tone was just barely controlled as she tried to smother the anger and fear racing through her, her tail twitching erratically behind her.
But even as she spoke her gaze was drawn back to the girl, quickly glancing away as she saw the blue eyes still watching her. But she refused to believe it. It couldn't be the bond, not now. She hadn't bonded the other three times, and she wasn't about to this time. |

Zynar | Dragon | Male | Trainee | Bonded Mentions: Avika, Vervada, Neryth, Arya. Zynar allowed himself to hum against the females touch, her fingers delicate as she perused his scales. As the bond fully snapped into place, he felt a zing through his spine, from tail to nose, before it disappeared - had it transferred to Avika? Had she felt it, too? He allowed himself a moment longer before the tension around him caused his scales to prickle. Looking around, he saw Neryth speaking to the angry female, and watched as the female seemed to subconsciously switch between Neryth and a small human, and the situation began to settle into his mind. Without a second though, he curled his tail loosely around Avika, stretching a wings to cover her back as he gave her to option to move closer or leave. For all he wanted to protect her, she was well aware of her position and how to handle the situation, and he knew it. As he listened to the conversation between Neryth and the female dragon, his head cocked to the side in curiosity. Why didn't the female want her rider? Surely she felt the connection, since she has come to the ceremony. Her gaze certainly conflicted with her errant dismissal. |

Neryth shrugged, her tail flipping a little. 'As much as you may want to deny it, you can't.' Her voice was gentle, soothing, trying to smooth over the dragoness's understandable anger. 'Just give it a try. Talk to her. If you don't like her, you don't have to stay with her.' Standing up, she turned to pad away, returning to Kiran's side. She kept a close eye on the purple female, knowing trouble may come from this interaction. |

Vervada was seething inside, unaware of the eyes observing the scene, the anger unquenchably steaming out of her nostrils as she watched the head dragon stalk back to her rider. Pompous... self important... controlling.... vain.... many more unpleasant words popped into her head as she glared at the retreating dragon's scaley hide.
But... the head dragon had given her permission to deny the bond if she couldn't handle it. All she had to do was go up and speak a word to the human, and then it'd all be over. The smoke slowly stopped curling from her nostrils, and her head slowly turned to the girl, her eyes still blazing.
Steeling herself, Vervada swallowed hard, burying the pain deep inside as she drew herself up to her full height. Head held with dignity, she stepped out of the shadows, flaring her shimmering purple, nebulous wings out on either side, the only, and final, warning that any standing in her path had better move quickly, or get rather charred rather quickly. As she began moving slowly down the line of trainees she met each ones eyes with her burning violet gaze, forcing them to either look away or feel very very uncomfortable.
Although she wasn't looking at the girl directly, she could feel when she was getting close, her stride slowing slightly being the only sign of uncertainty as she neared the human. In front of her she stopped, turning to face the blue haired trainee, her form towering above the short girl, her angered gaze challenging the blue eyes. "So, it seems it's meant to be you" Vervada growled in her throat, her venomous tone rumbling through the clearing. |

Arya : Human : Warrior : Female M: Vervada
Arya blinked up at the large female, her eyes wide with wonder. "M-me?" Her voice hiccuped a little, nervousness making her stutter. The dragon was beautiful, regal and intimidating. Even to Arya, who had grown up around dragons, couldn't help being intimidated. But the admiration she felt swallowed almost all of those feelings. "You're beautiful," she blurted, then looked down, her face flushing slightly. She couldn't help admitting it to the female. She just adored the white speckles across her scales, like tiny sprinkles of stars. The nebulous wings, like distant super novas, the colors and design drew her in. She looked up again, nervously meeting the violet gaze that burned with such hatred. Though she didn't understand why, she knew this dragon was mad at her, for some unknown reason. And she knew something had hurt this beautiful creature, something very deeply had broken her heart. Arya felt her own heart breaking slightly, feeling so sad for the dragoness. Feeling sad that something so horrible had happened to break a dragon, a dragon of all creatures. One of the most powerful beings in existence in their world. Arya wished she could do something to smooth over the dragon's pain, to heal the pain.

Avika : Elf : Queen : Female M: Zynar (dir.) Vervada & Kiran (ind.)
Avika smiled, feeling the faint zing sensation. Her gaze drifted towards the interaction between Neryth and the angry purple female. She winced, knowing some sort of confrontation may happen because of this. She had hoped this Ceremony would go smoothly, though she knew things often happened to interrupt the peace. Sensing the wing being curled around her, she smiled up at Zynar, grateful for his comfort and protection. Though she was the Queen, and had faced many terrors and difficult situations, she still somewhat feared dragons. She was well aware that these creatures could crush her, or burn her to a crisp as easily as breathing. It was comforting to know that Zynar would back her up if she needed it, as would Neryth and Kiran, she assumed. But it was always helpful to have a fire breathing lizard of her own to back her up. Though she had a connection with Neryth because of the dragon's status, she still didn't have the same connection as the female did with her rider.
Looking up at Zynar again, her lips curled in a faint smile. She would have that bond, though. She had her own dragon now. She had been chosen. Her, of all people. A dragon had actually felt the connection with her, and was brave enough to acknowledge it. Avika had often wondered if dragons had felt the connection to her in the past, but hadn't acted on it because they were too nervous, because of her own status.

Navi grimaced, sensing the waves of anger coming from one of the many dragons. She sidled closer to Asteria, her wings twitching nervously. She hoped Asteria didn't feel unsafe, Navi wanted to be a comforting presence. But she was rather small in size, and wasn't exactly intimidating. Still, she hoped she could provide some protection. After all, what kind of dragon would she be if she allowed her rider to be hurt? Shaking her head, she returned her attention to the human before her. 'Running, hm? I myself haven't tried much running, except when I was much smaller and couldn't yet fly.' She lifted a scaly front leg, showing the length in comparison. 'I'm not particularly fast on land. I can move quickly if needed, but I'm not as fast on land as in the air.'

Kiran | Elf | General | Male Mentions: All (Dir. + Ind.) Kiran turned his attention to Neryth and the purple female dragon. The air felt storm-like, the tension crackling from the female like lightning. He slowly made his way to his dragon, eyes never leaving the scene. Although Queen Avika had waved him off, he would not allow himself to relax while emotions were rampant in the reptiles. It did soothe him to see the dragon that had been bold enough to bond to her protectively hovering, although he would much prefer himself and Neryth to be nearby instead. Pressing a hand to Neryth's flank, he let her know he was nearby before giving her space to command the interactions between the purple dragon and the human. He heard the human say something as her face reddened, but he was much too far to hear her, even with his acute ears. He strummed the mental bond with Neryth, conveying his confusion at the scene. She would inform him when she deemed it safe, but he would rather be up to speed now. If she had a moment, he would ask her what the problem with the angry dragon was. |

Zynar felt Avika's gaze, chest blooming with pride, but he refused to tear his eyes away from the two dragons before him. Neryth continued to speak to the female until finally, her head swung towards the human and she stomped over to her. With a grimace, Zynar shook his head. Sometimes dragons just didn't want to bond - based off the look of the female, she was old enough to have previously bonded. If that was true, the fact that she was here sent a pain through Zynar's heart. Determining the situation was relatively stable for the moment, he closed his wing and looked down at Avika, tail tightening slightly around her. "Forgive me if I've overstepped - I know you are more than capable of defending yourself, but you lack fireproof scales." Looking around the clearing, he saw another bonded pair conversing, and realized with great satisfaction he could truly get to know his rider. His tongue flicked out with amusement as he watched the dragon demonstrate some sort of height variation to the human before her, and once again returned his gaze to Avika. "You are Queen, but have not yet bonded. We can chalk my ignorance of your position up to the fact that this is my first bonding ceremony. Why have you not yet participated in a ceremony? Surely many dragons would be honored to have a connection to the Queen." |

Vervada's lip curled slightly in scorn of the girl's stammering shock, her eyes not leaving her face. "Apparently" she growled shortly in response as she watched the girl's eyes swiftly flash over her.
Suddenly the girl blurted out the compliment, then flushed, looking quite embarrased at herself. Her own eyes flickered slightly, the anger weakening for a moment. She had to give the girl credit for not flinching away from her, and for having the nerve to speak of her own accord. That was rare around her these days.
When the girl's eyes met hers again she hardened her gaze, unwilling to show the slightest compliance, if she could help it. Because as strong as the bond was tugging her right now, she couldn't accept it. What would Daell say if he knew she'd just moved on from him, like he'd never existed? No rider could ever take his place, nor ever would.
And yet... the bond was so strong. The longer her eyes pierced the blue orbs in front of her the stronger she could feel it growing. She would have to be more careful. But as long as the human didn't touch her, the bond wouldn't complete. It would be safest to leave right then, she realized, just walk away. If she did the bond would disappate eventually... she hoped.
But she had promised the head dragon she'd try. Without relaxing her posture, she folded her wings and blinked once before speaking, still unaware of the many sets of eyes watching the two. "What is your name, human?" she rumbled out, forcing herself to sound unemotional. After she spoke she inwardly congratulated herself on not letting any flames exit her jaws. That was certainly an improvement for her. |
