Ilithyia

Fire Dragon | Female | Squad Leader's Dragon | Mentions: (directly) Nico, Desmodus. (Indirectly) Sevo

Ilithyia huffed in response as her rider finally arrived beside her. She tilted her head down, allowing him to reach her horn as he tied on the ribbon. Nico had always been thoughtful in these small details, a symbolic gesture to show that they were bonded. For a moment, she stared at her rider, her eyes reflecting an overwhelming sense of pride and affection towards him. She blinked, before shaking her head to refocus on their surroundings. "I have not seen them," she replied to Nico, her keen eyes sweeped the area, looking for the two mentors or their dragons.

"Seems to be an older batch this year," she observed from their cliff, her sharp eyes scanning the assembled students. As they continued to watch, more dragons filled the valley, each with its unique presence and character. However, Ilithyia's attention was drawn to a particular dragon, a sickly-looking male whose condition was immediately apparent. "What is that?" she growled softly to Nico, her voice tinged with shock and mild disgust. Her scarlet eyes focused on the dragon with dark grey and green scales, but what struck her the most was the absence of eyes in the dragon's sockets. “He doesn’t have eyes,” her voice trailed off as Ilithyia watched as a few other dragons in the vicinity avoided the blind male, giving him a wide berth.

Ilithyia grew restless with her unease as she rose to her full height, her formidable form radiating tension. She glowered down at the blind dragon, a low growl rumbling in her throat as steam starting to rise from her body. Her instincts were on high alert as she struggled to make sense of the situation. The sight of a dragon without eyes was highly unusual and had caught her off guard. It wasn't unheard of of blind dragons, but at least they still had eyes not just sockets. As she continued to observe the disturbing dragon, it became clear that it wasn't just his missing eyes that unnerved her. There was something about his entire being that set her on edge, causing her strong defensive response.

There was an air of fear and misery around him, as if the other dragons instinctively recognized this aura and kept their distance. As her attention remained fixed on the grey dragon, a large bat-like dragon suddenly stood beside her, startling her and causing her to let out a louder snarler. Ilithyia quickly shot the primal dragon an apologetic look, shaking her body to remove the discomfort, her instincts still on high alert. "Hello, Desmodus," Ilithyia greeted respectfully. "No, Nico and I were just trying to find them," she explained, her gaze momentarily diverted to the slimy male with no eyes. It was hard to tear her eyes away from him, she has never seen a dragon like him. She let out a puff of smoke as she breathed out deeply, that dragon made her uneasy. Something told her they need to keep an eye on him.

Ilithyia finally tore her eyes off the dreadful dragon and turned her gaze more purposefully to Desmodus. "They are probably playing in the water somewhere," she said lightly, trying to ease her own tension. "After all, it's not just them who were late," she added, giving Nico a playful look. It was, however, unusal for Lara to be late.

K'issuk Rán
Water Class || Mentor || Female || Mentions: Kaia, Aalis
Indirectly Mentions: Desmodus

Atop the surface of a large lake, the water dragon floated. Her deep blue scales caught the sun's light, casting prismatic reflections that danced across the water as she glided around gently. K'issuk's body was designed for the water, and as she moved, hardly a ripple appeared. Everything around them, it seemed, was silent and unnmoving.

Perched on her back, Kaia rested, softly humming deep in thought. Every so often, she herself would let a gentle tune slip from her chest, akin to that of a whale. Just for a moment, she allowed them to have some peace, before having to make an official appearance at the ceremony. Being mentors, they needed to set a good example for the others, and K'issuk wished to greet the newcomers properly.

At the voice of Kaia, the water dragon turned her head, her neck twisting in such a way to allow a singular eye to rest upon him. The mention of Sedna had caught her attention, knowing that the relationship between the two brothers was.. a difficult one. Still, she listened to Kaia's words, raising her tail and sending a small wave of water at him as he shot out a comment. Had they been on land, her tail would have made contact with his head, but alas, water would do.

'Be nice today.' She started, tone softening. 'I know that things have been.. tense, but I'm sure that Sedna could use some support.' She touched upon the topic lightly, knowing that it was a difficult subject at times. Regardless, even if Kaia refused, she herself would greet Sedna. 'Who knows, maybe you will be the one to congratulate him today if things go well.' Knowing that the Seeleen family pushed Sedna to attend the ceremonies, K'issuk couldn't help but feel sorry for him.

Pondering for a moment, her attention soon focused upon the dragons that Kaia had begun to name. There was a storm dragon, and then an earth one, and so on. 'They seem to be arriving all at once.' She noted, head raised towards the sky and nodding along as Kaia continued to call out names. 'It seems as if several classes are appearing.' Both common and rare ones alike emerged, to which K'issuk acknowledged.

'I suppose that we should enter. I'm sure that Desmodus would appreciate the help..' Trailing off, K'issuk's eyes narrowed as a light appeared above her. Raising her tail from the watery depths, she positoned the tip over her eyes and gazed upwards, just as Kaia spoke of a light dragon. 'It certainly is bright, I'll tell you that,' she mumbled, nearly scowling before dropping her tail as a familiar cooing sound was heard.

"Aalis?" She questioned, craning her neck before a sudden, eerie shriek of happiness escaped from her gills. "Oh, it is you!" She exclaimed, offering her old companion a smile. As Aalis glided away and landed near the lake, K'issuk took that as a cue to depart, her speed within the water increasing.

"Aalis Soile is an old friend of mine." She began, updating Kaia. "Her home is something out of a storybook, filled with Northern Lights that dance across the sky." She paused. "I must take you there one day, if she allows it. Aalis has always been a gracious host. A very gracious one indeed." Nodding along to her words, she emerged from the water, soaking the ground beneath her as she expanded her tattered wings. Fanning both herself and Kaia out, K'issuk immediately took to the skies.

Keeping low to the ground, the water dragon glided inches away from the trees. It took all but a few seconds to reach their destination, for the lake wasn't far from the valley. Upon their arrival, K'issuk descended next to Aalis, having noted where she landed so that she may greet her properly. 'Come, come, let me introduce you two.' Wailing softly, she hobbled her way to the light dragon, Kaia still upon her back (miracuously), and bobbed her head in greeting. Extending her arms, she clasped them around Aalis' own momentarily before returning them to the ground.

"Has it finally happened? Have you finally felt the pull?" It was an obvious question with an obvious answer, but K'issuk Rán asked nonetheless before pausing. "Forgive my rudeness," she began. "Aalis, this is Kaia Seeleen. Kaia, this is Aalis Soile" Glancing to her rider, she tapped him upon the shoulders and practically nudged him off of her so that he could properly introduce himself, before turning back to Aalis.

"You must be weary from your travels. Once this is over, let me be the one to host you this time."

Sujule & Katsiak
Storm Dragon | Female | New Dragon | Mentions: Open

Wind rushed past delicate features, lips pulled up into a snarling scowl. “This is stupid,” a low voice spoke, a snarky edge to her tone. “Why do we need a human? It’s a waste of our existence to be partnered with such a minuscule creature. Surely we are destined for greater things than being tied with a human.” Sujule growled out, her jaws snapping together in irritation. She tilted one of her wings to allow the conjoined pair to bank in a wide arc as the valley came into view from their position in the sky.

“I couldn’t agree more, sister.” Came the bitter reply of Katsiak. “We don’t need a human, it’s as simple as that. If this is our destiny, I want no part of it. Best to end my suffering now,” she purred, her voice a dark whisper full of malice. “Idiotic creatures.” Releasing a low hiss, she allowed one of her own wings to follow her sister’s so that the two could begin their descent. “Look at them down there.” Flickering her tongue, she watched with distaste as they mobbed around like ants, blissfully unaware of their looming presence. “They are as predictable as they are pitiful, wouldn’t you agree?” She declared with a cruel cackle that carried through the air.

A deep rumble caught in the right’s head, her dark features scowling maliciously down at the tiny ants below them. The talons of her front foot flexing as she imagined sweeping over head and letting her claws rip them to ribbons. They would make better decorations than riders, in her opinion. “I could angle us so we fly head first into the ground? Snap both our necks at the same time. Hell, we could crash into them and maybe free some of our brethren at the same time. What a sacrifice that would be,” a look of pure delight caressed her features, venomous tone matching her sister’s. Sujule eyed the valley below and nudged Katsiak’s muzzle with her own, motioning to the ground. “Where should we land sister? Should we land in front of them and let them quiver in our presence? Or land off sight in the forest?” She proposed, her bright eyes surveying the valley to determine the best spot. There were already several dragons in the valley, and she was more curious about them than she was about the humans.

Katsiak’s face twisted into a disturbing expression, a countenance that seemed to combine both a grin and scowl at once. She watched the valley carefully, studying the growing numbers of both humans and dragons alike. “What I wouldn’t give to feel their bones crushing between my claws,” she said, her words a reflection of her sister’s thoughts. “How easy it would be, I wonder, to break every limb in their body.” Eyes widening as she spoke, Katsiak’s maw twitched at the thought before her face dropped, returning to its constant, disgusted state.

At the mention of freeing some fellow dragons, she had nearly snorted. “Since when have we been the selfless type? I would gain more satisfaction in my death by knowing that we could have helped, but didn’t.” Clasping her talons together into a fist, she relished the thought before her muzzle was suddenly nudged, her thoughts disturbed. The topic of landing had emerged, and upon being asked where a suitable place to descend would be, Katsiak growled in response. “Normally, I would recommend the lake, where, if luck be on our side, we could drown. However, before we end ourselves, I gather that we should give our audience a proper fright.” Turning to Sujule, her eyes flashed with eagerness. “As of now, the forest would be the most suitable choice for that.” She paused. “Now, how do you think that the ants would react if we set it on fire?”

A cooing trill of pleasure lilted through the air as Sujule imagined what Katsiak expressed, the right side of the body twitching in response. “It would be marvelous, sister. The feel of bones crumbling to dust, flesh to ribbons, and their warm blood ripe for feasting?” A look of almost pure ecstasy twisted Sujule’s features into a horrid expression of lust and hunger. She shuddered, a glazed look overtaking her eyes as images as a valley bathed in blood echoed through her mind. She could almost feel the steam rising off her scales from the blood coating them. How splendid it would truly be.

Refocusing back as Katsiak spoke further, she snorted softly and nipped softly at the second head, though it was more of an affectionate action than a correction. “We are not selfless, Kat,” she murmured, her voice mirroring her sister’s and coming out as a purr, “but think of the pain and suffering we could cause in the process. The humans mourning their lost loved ones, some of the dragons grieving over lost opportunity, and also the pleasure from freedom gained but the guilt that comes with it.” She sucked in a breath, her eyes closing as she relished the idea created by her own words. It was a thrilling, almost heavenly feeling that caused her throat to tighten, and she sighed slowly and shuddered again as a result.

Blood colored eyes narrowed a degree and she nodded along as Katsiak spoke, and she angled her wing again leading them to swerve towards the forest. “I imagine they would scramble helplessly, they are horribly unintelligent creatures, I don’t imagine they have the knowledge to deal with such a crisis,” she scoffed as the pair descended, wings tucking as the trees began to reach for them. Hind legs hit the ground first, a loud thud echoing through the forest as they took steps to slow before their front legs landed, the she-dragon coming to a stop. Shaking out their figure, Sujule looked over their shoulder towards the open field where the humans were. “How do we want to do this, dear sister?”

Sevo Archemoros
Dark Dragon | Male | New Dragon | Mentions: Desmodus [Ind.], Vedmak [Dir.]

The various movements around him were a little difficult for Sevo to sort through, subconsciously filing them into categories of dragon and human, and their distance from him. His nose quivered and he parted his jaws again and inhaled deeply, his tongue curving into the air to taste the particles around him. The receptors on his tongue was sensitive, able to help him sort through tastes in the air, just like his nose could sort through scents.

One dragon he could tell was moving near him, and he turned his head in it's direction, nostrils flaring as he scented the air for the dragon. He could smell fur, but no specific element coming from the creature. Perhaps some sort of primal dragon? He'd heard of them before. So a furred dragon that didn't seem elemental. He clicked his jaws together a few times, the noises dancing about allowing him to pick up on more specific locations.

He turned his attention away from the dragon as it moved on by, but his focus was quickly drawn to the familiar sound and movement of a familiar dragon. "Ved-mak," his raspy voice was choppy, separating the dragon's name into almost two separate words instead of one name. His tongue curled from his jaws to gently drag across either side of his muzzle as he cocked his head to look in the direction the familiar male was. Of course he couldn't see him, but sensing his movement he could narrow down where he was pretty easily.

"Welcome, Ved," he spoke hoarsley, the grating sound of dry throat struggling to pronounce the words. "You're rider is here too then?" Sevo unanchored his wing talons from the ground and shifting his position so his front legs were now bracing against the ground. "Mine is too, but I detect he is near the crowd and I do not wish to approach," he confided, his tail whirling behind him as he turned his attention back in the direction his heart was tugging towards.

"They're over there somewere," he motioned with a front leg. Sevo could feel the gazes of others on him, but he tried to ignore the prying feeling. He was used to the looks, but it was why he lived alone, away from others.

Aither

Air Dragon | Male | New Dragon | Mentions: (indirectly) Sevo, Vědmák Ohexis, Parker

Aither observed his surroundings as more dragons landed nearby, each one seemingly carrying their own unique set of emotions. An ice dragon had landed near him, and Aither couldn't help but notice the discontent in the dragon's demeanor. He found a sliver of amusement in the shared sentiment. But his attention was soon drawn to the sight of a sickly dragon, one that left him baffled. Did the dragon even have eyes? Before he could process his emotions regarding the peculiar dragon, another dragon approached the blind one, walking on two legs like a human. Aither shook his head aggressively and blinked a few times, confirming the oddity. Psyche dragons had always been known for their eccentricities, but seeing the two of them together unnerved him.

Despite the distractions, Aither's thoughts kept returning to the humans and dragons in the valley. He felt the same annoying tug, pulling him toward them. He wondered what would happen if he left. Would the human be in pain? Would he be in pain? Lost in thought, Aither lost track of time as he gazed at the gathering, his golden eyes scanning the humans and their potential dragon companions.

As the small human with a slight limp strayed on the edges of the large group, Aither's gaze locked onto her. His heart sank, and he felt the invisible string tighten around him like a noose. She appeared young and frail, and a storm of questions raged in his mind. How could she possibly keep up with a dragon like him? Why would she be paired with him? Panic began to set in as he contemplated the possibility of her being his rider. His frustration manifested in the form of his claws digging into the grass, leaving deep gouges in the earth. A sense of doubt and concern clouded his thoughts, and he couldn't help but wonder if there had been a mistake in the pairing process. She seemed far too fragile to be his rider.

Despite his doubts and fears, deep down, Aither couldn't deny the undeniable connection that bound them. The tug he felt was more than just a physical force; it was a metaphysical bond that had brought them together, and it was a bond he couldn't escape. As he watched the young, fragile human, he knew in his heart that she was meant to be his rider. Despite this realization, he didn't immediately move. He remained under the tree, watching and waiting.

Borealis Alarie

Female Rider || Dragon: Saore || M: (Dir) None. (Ind) Sevo Archemoros. Others.

~

Borealis was one of the last to arrive in the crowd. She was busy getting a lecture from her overprotective mother for over thirty minutes, who kept constantly telling her to obey the mentors and other nonsense stuff that she already heard for the fifteen millionth time. The same lecture her mother gives every time she disobeys her. She could probably recite the whole lecture in her head if she wanted to, but now wasn't to time to be testing her memory skills. Now was the time to be focusing on the wonderful dragons that descended from the sky.

Borealis was trying to stay at the back of the crowd since her social awkwardness was really kicking in now. She would be much more excited for the ceremony if it wasn't for the huge crowd. If it was like ten other people that'd be fine, but this seemed like there were fifty of them in this one spot Even being near other people was becoming difficult for her over the days of being isolated in her house, working with her mother in the garden here and there, or sitting in her room and reading. She really desired a book now, since the ceremony had to start during her normal reading time of the day. Her favorite book was just practically calling her.

Borealis could faintly see a dragon in the distance, and oh how she wished she could see him better. He was magnificent, looking like something out of a horror story, which she definitely loved horror. He was slightly comparable to a zombie due to the thin layer of mucus that covered his scales. He didn't even have eyes, instead, his eye sockets were just completely empty, and terrifyingly cool looking to her. I wonder if he'd accept a hug, or if he'd bite my head off. I'd definitely have to take a shower afterwards, but it'd be worth it, even though he stinks. Yes, she could smell him even though she was quite a bit far away. She couldn't stop looking at him- he was horrifying in a magnificent way.

Kavik Forger || New Rider || Dragon: Ananth || M: Mariana, Medi NPC and Rhyhor and Ananth (ind)

He felt a strange sensation for a split second, as though he had left his body and was staring at himself from somewhere outside of it. He could almost feel the earth turning on its axis, whirring him around like a giant merry-go-round, threatening to fling him off at any second. However, it only lasted a small moment before the feeling subsided. Kavik knit his brows together with a frown, shaking his head. Strange.

He raised his head at the sound of a familiar voice, eyes quickly focusing on the ice blue ones that belonged to Mariana Cross. She was hooded, and sensing that this was a time for anonymity, Kavik withheld the customary bow and address for the young woman. Instead, he offered a wry smile as she spoke. The Lady's voice held a teasing tone, one that relaxed Kavik's tense shoulders.

"If I had had anything close to the texture of oatmeal for breakfast, no amount of Medi's venom would make a difference on my mood," he stated, making a playful grimace of a face. "Slimy grains? No, thank you."

Hegave a mock bow at her last sentence. "I would give all the gold in the world to be able to attend endless festivities surrounded by adoring crowds. I simply love people."

The blatant lie sailed smoothly from his lips; had some passerby overheard him without knowing who he was or that he was being sarcastic, they may have believed his words to be true. Kavik let a short silence come before resting his arm on a bent knee and asking, "Are you here to people watch, or are you here to get whisked away to some far off land that none but dragons can reach?"

Movement out of the corner of his eye brought his gaze up to a powerful, scarred dragon powering his way through the crowded maze of people. Although the great reptile didn't seem to have locked in on anything -- or anyone -- he was clearly on the prowl. His large frame was headed towards the boulder Kavik had stationed himself upon, but nothing stirred inside him. Nothing suggested that he was the creature's quarry, so, while he kept a portion of his senses dedicated to monitoring the dragon, he did not focus his whole being upon him.

Kavik felt a faint twist in his chest as his gaze crossed paths of a more cautious-looking dragon that was giving the boulder -- or perhaps the angry-looking dragon -- a wide berth. Now feeling somewhat uncertain as to his situation, Kavik attempted to shake away the feeling and focused again on Mariana. It felt good to see a friendly familiar face; he recognized a few other people, but so far, the Lady Cross was the only one that he actually spent time with on purpose.

Nicodemus Brooks
Human | M | Squad Leader | Mentions: Ilithiya [Dir.], Desmodus [Dir.], Anatolious [Ind.], Sevo [Ind.], Others [Ind.]

Slate colored eyes remained narrowed a degree as Nicodemus listened to Ilithiya speak within his own mind. He gave a single short nod of his head in acknowledgement when she answered about whether she had seen their designated mentors or not. They weren't given a specific time to be there by, but it was generally known to be in the valley about the same time the students started gathering, so he was both surprised and not.

His thoughts and attention were else where when his dragon's disturbed vocals once more filled his mind. He followed her gaze to a... unique ... looking dragon in the valley below. It was a hideous beast, one that looked like it hadn't had a decent meal in ages and was part of a horror story mothers tell their children to keep them from wandering around at night. A look of barely concealed revoltion flickered across his features, darkening the hue of his eyes as he took in the sight below.

Instinctively Nico reached out and placed a steady hand on Ilithiya's shoulder when she rose, her unease clear and heavy through the bond. He leaned gently into where his hand met her scales and let his calm and stoic aura flow gently through the bond, lending his own demeanor the the female to help her be at ease. "Easy," he purred softly in a murmur, trying to soothe the fire she-dragon he was paired with. Deciding trying to distract the female was the best option, Nicodemus leaned his head back and softly laughed, a sound foreign and strange coming from the young man.

"Ilithiya," he began, "don't tell me you're actually afraid of something? And a sickly little dragon at that?" He scoffed almost playfully and patted her shoulder teasingly. "And here I thought dragons were ferocious and fearless creatures," amusement glittered in his grey eyes, but just as quickly as it was there, it was gone. The presence of another chasing it away faster than anyone could blink.

Nicodemus half turned to the bat like dragon and narrowed his eyes, brow knitting in confusion. What was his brother's dragon doing here? Rather than ask the dragon directly, he glanced to Ilithiya and spoke through their mental link. "What do you think Desmodus is doing here? Why is he not with Anatolious?" He would never tell anyone he was worried about his younger half brother, but it didn't sit well with him to see the two obviously separated right now.

Beollan
Fire Dragon | M | New Dragon | Mentions: Dragons & Riders [Ind.]

Large wings flapped lazily now and then, the sun glinting off the flame colored membranes as he flew, allowing the dark veins within them to be more easily seen. A hissing growl rolled from the dragon's jaws, his lips rippling to partially expose his teeth in annoyance. This was the last thing he ever wanted to do... again. Yet, that instinctual and ever so annoying tug was present in his chest. He had tried his hardest to ignore it, but the more he waited, the more insistent it got. So, here he, Beollan, was, heading to the valley he had been to centuries ago.

Being such a large creature, the fire dragon covered ground quickly, and despite only having left his volcanic home early that morning, the valley came into view as the sun rose into the sky. Smoke spewed out of his jaws and the vents on his face, the white color creating trails behind him from the sheer volume he was expressing. True to fire dragon nature, he was in a foul mood.

Beollan's dark shadow fell over the valley, draping darkness over both human and dragon alike as he flew, giving a hint to his size and age before he even landed. Tilting a wing he slowly turned, his eyes looking down below, taking in the familiar sight. His first time here he had been excited, elated even, that he was getting a rider. Now? No. Now he would rather peel the flesh off his body and eat it.

Jaws parted and a loud whining screech erupted from him, growing and deeping in timbre until a loud roar ripped from him, followed by a plume of angry fire, coloring the sky in brilliant shades of red, orange and yellow. His scales gleamed brilliantly in the sun, his figure looking like a wild fire dancing in the dead of night. He didn't care if he caught the eyes of others though, he wasn't here because he wanted to, he was here because he had to be.

With a grace that could only come from age, he swooped around a couple of times, coming lower and lower each time until he slowly touched down in the open field of the valley. He blew out heavy clouds of white smoke, his lip curling to reveal his row of angry teeth which he flashed at those near by in a clear and obvious threat. His nostrils flared as fire sparked from his jaws, but he didn't breathe anymore of it, not wanting to quite light the valley on fire yet.

Shaking his figure out, the goliath dragon snaked away from the crowd of gathering humans and to the outskirts near the forest, picking a spot away from everyone. Once he deemed he was in a good spot he lowered to his haunches and glared out at those around him. Everything about the male was unfriendly, completely sour about having to be there.

It had taken quite a while for the female dragon to arrive. The idea must have slipped her mind and then whenever she remembered the day she had been in a big hurry to get ready and look presentable. Soare was quite late, hopefully the chance of finding a rider was still... Somewhere. As the dragon at landed a few yards away from wherever the other dragons were currently finding their matches. Hopefully Soares sister, Hakidonmuya wouldn't be to frustrated with her late arrival. As she looked into the crowd of dragons and possible riders she couldn't see anybody familiar, or maybe her eyesight wasn't the best right now.
Soare looked down, plopping herself on the ground with a sigh, what if her rider had been chosen already...? Her wings folded onto her sides and her tail wrapped around her front feet. Growling to herself, she thought about how selfish she must appear to the other dragons...her sister. Why had she slept in so much and forgot the date? Why did this have to happen today of all days?
Soare glanced up, looking one again to the crowd. Nobody was catching her eye at the moment, she felt no instant connection towards any of the humans there. As the white and yellow dragon was about to look down, her eyes drifted towards the side. They stayed there, on the sight of a young girl, she too was also quite a bit always from the rest of the rider finding dragons. Her body language looked as though she might be afraid to go into the group? Maybe she didn't like the thought of this maybe Dragons and humans together in one space? Well, now Soare had a lot of questions and she would like them to be solved. The large dragon stood up and turned her long neck and head towards the girl, making eye contact.
