Zehra

Dream Dragon | Female | M: Mircea, others[ind.]

Zehra let out an excited snort, head moving rapidly as she gazed around the valley. The sun's rays caught, on her scales, causing a light gleam to come over their vivid pattern. The dream dragon was able to still herself, before taking a more protective stance right behind her rider. Her rider. A phrase the dragon could get used to, it was about a week ago, since the two had bonded, and no one had taken the first ride yet. Today they would finally get the chance to put their bond to the test, where the first flight would actually take place. The thought made her shake her head with delight. She had been waiting for her human for a long time, and now she would get a chance to fly with them.

“How are you feeling about our first ride together, Mircea Rosenberg?” she spoke, voice silky and low, as she moved her head down to her rider's level. Zehra’s piercing blue eyes staring unblinkingly into his. The dragoness was still getting used to her rider's name, and loved rolling Mircea’s full name off of her tongue. She found it so fun to say, and caught herself practicing it in her time separated from him. Studying her rider, she wondered what was going through the young boy's head, was he nervous? Excited? Did he wish he had not been chosen? Or perhaps been chosen by another dragon?

Despite whatever Mircea felt, Zehra was already attached to the male, if he were to walk a few feet away the dragon would make sure to keep an eye on him. She knew humans were fragile creatures, despite showing great amounts of power with their tiny metal skewers, but their strength was not comparable to a dragon twice their size. She was a protective creature at heart, and she wasn't looking to see her human harmed in the first few weeks of their bond. Zehra would be ever so terrified if something were to happen to Mircea on her watch. That and she feared him leaving her behind. The dragon always had her dear friend Xevioso to keep her company, but he also had his own rider to pay attention to. In her right Tallon, she had clutched a small trinket, a shiny rock she had found once they had entered the valley. It was a semi-polished river rock, with a reddish hue to it. She had no plans of keeping it, but it fascinated her nonetheless.

Shifting in her spot Zehra felt the light weight of her new saddle shift upon her back. She still wasn't quite sure about how she felt about the contraption, but at least she didn’t hurt while wearing it, and she could hardly notice its presence. Save for the occasional tightness around her torso if she turned terribly fast. She hoped the contraption would feel better once she was in the air.

Juniper | Demiboy | 17 | Pan Poly | Rider

M: Deirdre (Dir) Mircea + Other Riders (Ind)

Shaking with excitement, Juniper’s joy was immeasurable and his smile was beaming. Juniper worried he had torn a hole in his cape with how tightly he gripped the soft, green fabric but that was only one thought of a million that was swarming his brain like a bee hive, most of said thoughts being about how excited he was to ride a dragon. Sure, Juniper has ridden horses, donkeys, mules, and very large dogs when he was younger, but nothing like a dragon. This was something Juniper had been waiting for his whole life. His heart was beating loudly so much so that he was afraid it would burst from his chest. They had to pretend to fix their leather satchel and adjust their stance just to allow themself a chance to catch their breath as eyes from all around watched Juniper and the other riders.

Dressed in a light green sweater and baggy brown pants, Juniper felt unequal and almost inferior to those he shared the stage with. The fanciest thing Juniper owned was his dark green cloak with his family crest on the back of it, but that was nothing compared to the rings and earrings of the other riders around him that must have been worth twenty honey jars each. Mircea was the most fashionable opposite and fashionably gorgeous compared to Juniper. Even now, glancing down towards him and his dragon, he was leagues above what Juniper was wearing and Juniper envied their roommate. While others dressed in the clothes of nobles, Juniper was wearing mud covered rags. Juniper was only making this matter worse because their big black boots were currently dripping in wet clay that Juniper stepped in earlier this morning while trying to hike up and draw a picture of the Dragon Valley earlier today before the droves and masses of people arrived. Okay, maybe there were no droves and masses, but it was still the most people Juniper had ever seen in his life. I suppose only ever interacting with your family and whatever animal stumbles into their territory does not breed good interactions with other humans let out allow you to handle this many people staring and watching and observing you. Juniper was not going to let these onlookers intimidate him though especially when he had family in the crowd somewhere.

Scanning the crowd of spectators, strangers, and silent observers, Juniper’s brown eyes eventually landed on his family and his grin only grew. Gods, he hoped they would be proud of him, but by the look of it, they already were. Juniper’s father was in tears, desperately trying to wipe away the waterfalls in his eyes, as their mother eased his worries and looked like a daycare worker bending down to praise a crying child for their macaroni art. Henry, Juniper’s older brother, was also there. Although his older sister could not make it as she was in charge of Juniper’s little siblings back at home to make sure everything did not burn down, Henry was there, smiling proudly with his toothy grin that revealed a gap between his teeth. Henry’s smile was the kind of smile that was irresistible to not smile with as his eyes seemed to carry a spark of elation and euphoria everytime a grin shaped his face. Juniper was told that he had Henry’s smile too, but Juniper rarely ever sees himself when he smiles so he has always just assumed that only Henry could possibly have that smile. Juniper could not hear Henry’s whimsical yet deep and soothing voice that always kept Juniper grounded, but reading his lips over the cheers and cries of the crowd, Henry reminded them of something important with only one word: “goggles.”

Right. How could I forget?

Juniper almost laughed at themself as they reached up and pulled the goggles off their forehead, making sure to take off their circular, gold rim glasses before slipping the goggles over their eyes. Even though it was a hammy down from Henry’s dragon racing days back when he had been paired with a dragon, but for now, they were Juniper’s. With a small crack in the left side and the carcasses of dead bugs still clinging to the glass, despite its tattered appearance, it felt good on Juniper.

Looking to the dragon on his left, Juniper took a deep breath and smiled at Deirdre, a fiery dragon with a fiery personality. Gods, how could it have only been a week now since Deirdre and Juniper were paired together? It still did not feel real yet it felt as if it was the only real thing that has ever happened as if everything beforehand was all just a dream. Juniper gently reached out and smoothed his hand behind her ears to make sure she did not have an itch and that her bridal was not too restricting.

“Well, today’s the day, Deirdre,” Juniper spoke in a hushed whisper as he often did with animals. “I’ll admit it but… I am a little nervous!” Juniper chuckled faintly before sighing softly. “Let’s just go be safe and have fun, right?” Juniper lowered his voice with a soft giggle. “And maybe look cooler than everyone else while we do that!~” Juniper went silent for a moment before he let go of his cloak and brought his hands up as they shook from excitement. “Ahhhh! Just— So—“ Juniper could not find the words but he still did his best to maintain a cool and calm composure in front of the people. Juniper’s cheeks heated up but they just explained themself with one word: “Excited!” Finally stopping himself from flapping his arms around, Juniper smiled widely to Deirdre as he ran a hand over the leather saddle. “I am going to hop on you now. I hope you’re okay with that, girlie.” Placing his foot in the stirrup, Juniper carefully mounted onto the dragon, easing himself down onto her back so he did not just land on her without a care for Deirdre’s spine. Even after being in the saddle for a few seconds, Juniper was glowing with pride and excitement.

“I… I am excited to fly with you today, Deirdre!”

Carefully picking up the reigns, Juniper waited for Deirdre— and the other riders, they guessed— before thinking of taking off.

Michael Evans - 17 - Male - Rider - Mentions: Mircea, Xevioso, Zehra (indirect), Other riders (indirect), Other dragons (indirect)

Standing next to Xevioso, Michael marveled at the fact that he was chosen by a dragon.

The thought had been occupying his mind for the entire week. Even though a week had passed since the Choosing Ceremony, he still couldn't believe that he had been chosen by a dragon. And it never failed to send excitement and awe through his veins like a shot of adrenaline. And he suspected a part of them would never get over this fact.

And what a dragon to be bonded to.

Some people may say that he was too large, too intimidating, anything they personally think is a 'fault' in him. But to Michael's eyes, the massive Storm Class dragon was perfect; he was a sight to behold, and not only because of his massive stature. Xevioso was nothing short of awe-inspiring; and there was a part of him that wondered why such a creature would choose him as a rider. Conversely, another part of him knew that there had to be a reason, had to be one why a dragon would choose him, something he saw in him that he himself was unaware of. That part was the predominant one, thrilling at the mere thought of being partnered with a dragon, any dragon, much less the giant Storm dragon; and it was fighting the darker part of him that whispered and seeded doubts deep within his mind.

But today was not the day to have these doubts. Or perhaps it was.

Today was the first flight, the test to prove that he and all the other chosen people, were fit to be riders. And of course, the dragons, in their own ways, would be testing their chosen humans; this he had no doubt about. Such powerful creatures, they would want to see what their partners were made out of, if they were worthy of riding on their backs.

In an attempt to distract himself from these doubts, from the growing anxiety skittering through his body and the tightening knot of dread and even a touch of fear in his gut, he began to look around the valley. Eyes lingering on the other dragons, even though he would not replace Xevioso for anything, the others were still something to behold; and flicking over their respective riders. A little part of him brightened at the sight of Mircea nearby, with his attention-grabbing Dream Class dragon; that one was attention-grabbing in a different way than his was, more brighter in coloration, and a pattern he had honestly never seen before on any animal. Then again, dragons weren't just any animal.

And with that brightening, came the urge to go and say...hello to him. His old friend, rival? He didn't know what Mircea meant to him.

"I'll be right back." Michael said, making his voice a bit louder than its usual pitch, instinctively tilting his head upwards so that his dragon may more easily hear him. And then he started towards the other young man, in that usual quiet way of moving he had.

"Heya Cea!" The bright tone that wrapped around his words was not faked, he was truly happier; and a smile appeared on his face without him realizing, it was not quite enough to show the teeth, but a smile nonetheless. He was tempted to wrap an arm around his shoulder, but at the moment he was about to, his gray eyes flicked up to the dragon standing behind Mircea, looking quite protective, then decided against it. He turned that hesitation into something that could be reasonably passed off as a mere shift in weight.
"Mirceaaaa, how're you doing?" He repeated the other's name, dragging out the 'a' part of it in a tone dangerously close to a whine, dropping a bit of that tone as he continued the rest of his question. And then he promptly forgot for a moment that Mircea's dragon was right there, and took a step towards him before the other could react, and purposefully leaned a bit of his weight into the other man, shoulder-first; not enough to cause him to fall, but enough to just be noticable, enough to cause someone to shift their stance. Annoying, in a way.

As he started to lift a hand to mess with the collar of Mircea's shift, and his mouth opened to say something else, his eyes caught something that made the words die immediately.

A ring.

It was a pretty one, at that. Silvery metal, with a gemstone of some sort, in the middle of it, and what looked like a crescent moon on each side of the light gem.

But the sight of it on Mircea's finger, even such a brief glimpse of it, made the words die on his tongue and his heart to drop down into his shoes, and to freeze his motion for a split second, and for him to feel as if someone had just thrown an icy bucket of water over him. He quickly leaned off of Mircea, taking a reflexive step backward from him. A dark feeling creeping, growing within him, one that he didn't recognize; a sting of fear that sent his heart racing, the ball of dread and anxiety that had loosened for a moment abruptly tightened in his gut, and something else.

The dark feeling cut through by confusion on his part he kept the smile on his face, but now it felt plastered on his face rather than naturally there. He purposefully did not look down at his hand, where the ring was. He knew what a ring on a person's finger meant, and he inexplicably didn't like that Mircea was wearing a ring. It wasn't any of his business who Mircea likes, he repeated that thought in his mind, yet it fell short, even though the words did not leave his mouth. He was fighting to keep his composure by now, and again his gaze briefly went to the tall dragon before darting back to Mircea's face. Swallowing thickly, he tried to say something, and it came out as a croak, before he turned his head and coughed into the crook of his arm, and swallowed again in an attempt to get his vocal cords working properly again.

Just as he managed to nearly get out a coherent 'glad to see you here', his eyes once again flicked to the group of people gathered, and among the crowd, he saw two people. The sight of his parents killed the words he was saying, as if his ability to speak was abruptly taken away; and he stiffened, face draining of blood. And this time, he didn't tear his gaze away from them. Taking in a shuddering breath, he glanced to Mircea again, the happy part of him effectively killed.

"I..I...See you..later." He managed to say to Mircea as he backed away, turning around and making a beeline towards Xevioso, with a quicker pace than usual. Once by the dragon's side, feeling safer with his dragon, he turned and faced outward, catching his parents' gaze, tilting his head upwards slightly and narrowing his eyes. As if to say 'Yes, I was chosen, and this is my dragon', despite the fact that it was probably too late to hide his reaction to them. Then he looked away casually.

There was a mix of emotions, and a growing feeling in reaction to see that ring, that beautiful ring on Mircea's finger; one he wasn't familiar with. The sudden rush of adrenaline of seeing his parents, the surprise and then swiftly following resentment. The shock and and that unknown feeling before his parents, with Mircea. He clenched his teeth, a growl escaping his throat as he tried to parse out the emotions. Frustration rose for some reason, and added itself to the mix, not helping one bit with the inner tormoil.

Mircea Vasilica Rosenberg

Dragon Rider | Male | 17 | Mentions: Percival [dir.] , Aether [ind.] , Zehra [dir.] , Micheal [dir.] , Other Riders & Dragon (ind.)

The young man couldn't believe that a week had gone by so quickly. So it was true that time flew when one was busy. He could remember how he met Zehra. For some reason he had been extra tired during the Choosing Ceremony and so he decided to take a nap for a little bit under the shade of a tree. And in this nap, he saw the prettiest dragon he'd ever seen, but these dreams where of the dragon and him together on what seemed to be it's ideas of fun adventures. When he had woke up he found that the dragon was quite real - and quite excited to meet him. She was quite the personality and he adored that about her. He still couldn't believe that she was his dragon , a beautiful, rare , and kind creature like her. It seemed something out of a fictional story , yet , here he was living it out in real life. He had to take a glance at his dragon with a rare soft smile at the thought.

The Acadmey had made sure to give them a lot of information on proper riding and handling of their dragons. He remembers furiously taking notes during class and paying extra attention - not to mention staying up a bit later to make sure he understood the material and that he would do good for his first ride. He didn't want to embarrass himself or his family - he would make them proud. He released a breath to calm his nerves and walked with confident strides alongside his dragon who seemed to be hyper today. She must be excited about the ride, he thought to himself. His eyes scanned the area for familiar faces when he saw his friend, Percival , and he casually walked over to the boy. He gave his friend's dragon a mindful look as if telling him that he meant no harm. He softly bumped shoulders with the guy, a rare smile spreading.

"Can you believe it. We're actually going to be Riders. It feels like we were just little kids babbling about dragons and how cool they are." He said fondly, there was a shimmer of excitement in his eyes, " are you excited?" And then he registered that there was someone else walking with Percival and he took in the form of the other boy and tilted his head a bit, "Who's your friend here, Percy?"

Before he could get an answer he was distracted by the excited snorts of his dragon. By the stars she was the most precious and perfect creature he had ever seen. And she looked at him with those pretty eyes of hers, her head down to his level as she asked him about how he was feeling about his first ride. And he took a moment to admire how the horn ornaments he gave her looked so beautiful on her and he gave her a soft pat on the head saying, "Excited that I'm flying with the prettiest dragon of the bunch. But also nervous since this is my first time actually flying a dragon and I want to make my brother and family proud."

Before he could even finish talking to her, he heard a voice call out a nickname for him. And he frowned a bit, who would even think to call him that and they didn't even know him that well yet? That was so r- . He could feel himself relax at the sight of the person calling him - it was just Micheal. And he had to say that stupid dopey grin on his face looked absolutely repulsive. No, there was no reason he should be that happy to see him. And he gave a playful roll of his eyes at the dragging out of his name and even a small chuckle. He then huffed in mock annoyance and shoulder bumped Micheal softly back when the boy tried to annoy him by shifting his weight. Nope, he was not gonna get mad today. He was going to have a good ride and so was Micheal.

"I'm good. Excited to ride with Zehra, how about you. I still can't believe you fainted at seeing your dragon." He said in a rather teasing manner.

He gave a soft confused 'hmm' at the lost of contact from Micheal and the way he stepped back so quickly. A concerned frown on his face as he looked at his companion. Had he said something wrong? Was Micheal alright? He watched as his gaze went his his dragon and back to him, Micheal's Dragon had tilted its head in a concearned manner. He then watched as he swallowed and then coughed.

"Are you alright Micheal? Did I say so-"

He noticed his gaze to the crowd, and noticed Micheal's parents were here and he gave a glare in their direction. He didn't know the whole story but he knew it wasn't that pretty. He reached his hand out in concearn seeing the change in his friends's demeanor. And at the shuddering breath the young man had taken.

" O-oh. Okay. Talk to you later then . . . " he said a bit disappointed. He wasn't used to Micheal sort of running away or behaving like this. He hoped he was alright.

After seeing Micheal leave he could feel his mood dampen a bit. Should he chase after him? See what was wrong? Had he upset him some how? He could feel his brain asking a million questions at once. He then have a look in the direction and he had went and he saw a look of frustration on his face. Had he caused that? He couldn't help but feel a little guilty if he had been the cause for that. His eyes lingered on Micheal and his dragon for a little bit - there was a bit of confusion and sadness in his look , but he turned to focus on the more important task at hand.

The First Ride

Percival du Bec | M| 17 | Noble/Dragon Rider

Mentions: Kavik (ind.)
Aether, Mircea (dir.), and other dragon riders (ind.)

Percival's focus was on Aether, and so he did. Something was telling him in his head that something was up with his scaled friend. The monologue in his brain was correct. Something was bothering Aether, and he couldn't help but worry for his newfound friend. Could it be that his nerves rubbed off on the dragon? Eyes shifting to the side to gaze upon the onlookers, noticing a familiar amongst the mixed crowd of nobles and commoners. He smiles at the recognized faces and their whole demeanor shifts. He could've sworn that their moods lit up more, and this made his heart feel warm. He gave them a quick yet elegant wave with his hand, and he could hear the crowd cheer louder. His sun radiates and spreads among the spectators. It's what he always wanted, to fly in the sky and feel free for once in his life.

His focus turns to Aether, shuffling closer to the dragon. His hands touch the silver scales of his companion-giving him a couple of reassuring strokes. They were nervous, yet their nerves were about different things. Percival was quiet while he conjured up a few words to cheer his dragon up. "Aether," his tone full of warmth and comfort, "the both of us will be alright." His sapphire eyes were glowing with endless joy, and he couldn't help but smile in the dragon's direction. "I know you'll do just fine and," shuffling side to side, "I'm grateful you chose me as your rider. I don't regret a single moment of this, and I know you don't either. So," his hands stopping on the dragon's neck, "let's do our very best. Together as a team."

With every second he stood beside the dragon, his trust seeped deep into his winged ally. Aether expressing protectiveness made him feel comfortable amongst the crowd and his fellow dragon riders. "You're doing great already," Percival whispered such words into his friend's ear, and he stood stiff beside him. His hand stayed on his dragon's next. As if he was afraid that Aether would leave him.

"Can you believe it? We're actually going to be Riders. It feels like we were just little kids babbling about dragons and how cool they are."

A familiar voice sang beautifully in his ears, and his smile stretched wider. His eyes gaze longingly at his childhood friend and former sparring partner-not to mention a fellow noble. His eyes focus on the stunning face of his friend, and soon his focus shift to the beautiful raven-black hair settled on top of his head. Staring at the waviness of his hair like they were that of the ocean. Not to mention those eyes of amber that sent chills down his spine, but that chill was of anticipation. He remembers those gorgeous features quite well. His heart leaped with joy and squealed in a schoolgirl manner. The warmth of his body skyrocketed immensely at the sight of his childhood friend.

It was the moon, his moon.

It was-"Darling, Mircea." His tone wasn't all too innocent, holding a mixture of flirtatious mischievousness and childish teasing. Percy's eyes steadily looked Mircea up and down-seeming to like what it was seeing. A beautiful scenery, indeed. "Are you here for business or pleasure, Mirly? If it's the latter, then I'm afraid we can't do it in front of the eyes of others." Gesturing to the spectators who were waiting impatiently to see them take off, "My mother is amongst them, and I'm afraid she'll kill us with her scolding words." Percival's attention was on Aether for a split second, "Stand down, Aether. He's a friend, or better yet, a priceless work of artistic masterpiece."

"This here is my dragon, Aether." His eyes turn to Mircea's dragons, giving his friend's dragon a welcoming grin. "Your dragon is indeed pretty, but I'm afraid such a word has already been reserved by one thing." That devious smile has returned, with a similar twinkle in his eyes. He was going to say something else until Micheal showed up, and Percival went quiet to allow the two to respect their conversation. He was reading Micheal's emotions and bodily movements. The two of them have a weird relationship, and Percy is on board with teasing the two about it.

That's when Micheal noticed the ring on Mircea's fingers, and his whole attitude was different. Ah, yes. Jealously. Percival knows that all too well. He wasn't going to be smug about it. He was in and still in the same boat involving jealousy. When Mircea's friend left, Percival gave him a gentle nudge and smiled. "He's going to need some sort of comfort, Mirly." Bringing his hands to Mircea's hair, twirling a strand of it around his finger. "Has anyone ever told you that your hair is as lovely as the night sky and soft as that of the finest silk?" Pulling some hair towards his face, gently brushing it against his lips, and giving it gentle yet small kisses. "I swear, Mirly. You hypnotize me every time you show up," he tugs his hair playfully. "I'm extremely honored to gain such a memorizing thing to see 24/7. A blessing for such weary eyes."

=Quill Ellwood=

Dragon Rider || 16 || Female || Mentions: Other Riders (ind), Rimfire (ind)

=====

Quill forced herself to get up early, at 5:30am - an hour or so before sunrise. She'd been frustrated at her progress for the past few days and was determined to do something to fix it. Being chosen as an actual dragon rider was one thing, but becoming a good Dragon Rider would not be an easy task. Sure, they were expecting a varied amount of classes alongside those they'd already sampled, and there was to be plenty of time to establish these skills. Not that this mattered to Quill - she needed to work on it right now.

Rising from her bed, she rubbed her eyes and flung open her curtains. The sun's rays boardered the valley hills, and she pushed the window open to take a deep, cool morning-air breath. The whole academy was beautiful, and she'd been enjoying viewing it every morning. The rooms were more spacious, and luxurious, than those back home - of course it helped to not have clutter scattered around everywhere.

It was a little strange not sharing a room while everyone else did, but she wasn't too bothered. At least she could now enter and exit without disturbing anyone. Maybe a little part of her was hoping someone would turn up at some point, to fill in the gap of the uncomfortably empty bed and shelves. It wasn't like her own stuff took up much space. The small jewelry box belonging to her mother stood on an upper shelf, locked safely. She only had a handful of clothing - she'd receive more later once she became more settled. Her Mother was due to arrive today, and would probably unload a load of items from home once she was done. For now she slipped on a pair of brown trousers, a white blouse and some sturdy boots, plus a thick woollen cardigan and left, gently closing the door behind her.

It had taken her a few days to realise she really shouldn't have been slamming her door shut at 6 in the morning. Apparently it wasn't a normal thing to wake up (or slam doors) this early. It seemed a lot of things she did were a little strange: like waking so early and spending so much time concentrating on training. Her mother never seemed to have a problem with it. But then she's a woman to always encourage sharp heeled boots in case of emergency, so perhaps she wouldn't be the most trustworthy of sources.

Shrugging to herself, Quill wandered down the hallways to a courtyard. She had decided to work on her balance until breakfast - a key part of riding a literal Dragon. Considering how terribly she'd ridden that horse for practise, the day before, she ought to cram extra training in. So maybe she had been almost dreading the first flight, but it wasn't that she didn't want to fly, atop such a mighty, magestic Dragon such as Rimfire. Her Dragon. Her new Partner. That was a satisfactory thought. The idea of clinging to his back high up in the air and relying on no one but herself to stay on was a much more alarming one. Okay, there was a saddle, but that wouldn't be something to entirely rely on.

She spent the rest of the morning stretching in the courtyard for the day ahead, then practicing balancing on each leg, wobbling wildly as she did so. So that was that. She would have to cling on like her life depended on it (hah!) It really would, in more ways that one. Feeling very stupid, Quill was quick to head down to breakfast and was soon ready for the event. Maybe she was avoiding her mother, who was most likely charming a crowd of unsuspecting onlookers, but Quill had decided to keep her distance from the slowly growing group of people, waiting for the celebration to start. If Rimfire wanted to find her in advance, Quill had no doubt he could. Sitting in the shade of a birch tree, she hoped he would. Her ash-blonde hair wasn't the most common of colours. Already, she was enjoying the Dragon's company and finding little similarities between herself and him. Maybe with time... Allies, she reminded herself, crossing her legs and watching a few Riders she recognised out in the small crowd of people. It would be good to have some other company than her mother at least.

Aether - Air Dragon - Male - 190 - Mentions: Percival, Mircea (indirect), Michael (indirect), other dragons (indirect), other riders (indirect)

The touch of hands on his scales broke Aether out of his thoughts.

"Aether,"

The voice of his human saying his name made him lower his head, so that he could view the young man better, and so that he was on roughly the human's level. By extension, he had to lower his body a bit more, since his neck was not that long to be able to view a human on the ground, and to be on their level. His attention was fully on his rider, and what he was about to say.

"The both of us will be alright."

Percival's eyes were alight with joy, a soft smile on his face, and it made Aether a bit happier to see that, it made that tight coil of tenseness relax a little. That despite the doubts and worries, that his rider had faith. In the both of them.

"I know you'll do just fine and,"

A brief moment where he broke, and shifted from side to side, a more of a shuffle, really. A small amount of amusement sparked, humans really could have some trouble or awkwardness with expressing deep emotions to others, he had noticed. And depending on the situation, it was amusing, endearing, or downright frustrating. This time it was a mix of the first two emotions.

"I'm grateful you chose me as your rider. I don't regret a single moment of this, and I know you don't either. So,"

As he said the last part of that, Aether could feel the man's hand stop on his neck; and Aether couldn't help letting his lips peel back in a smile at the human. The warmth and happiness inside was just too much to contain.

"let's do our very best. Together as a team."

Aether should probably respond to those words, shouldn't he? Yeah, he really should. It took a moment to find the right ones to say to Percival. And while he searched for them, the rider was standing quite stiffly, a hand still on his neck.

"Thank you very much for your words. I needed that." Aether spoke not through the mind-link, but through the means that Percival was speaking to him, through usual ways. He paused for a moment, the uncertainty replaced by the steely determination and warm faith in his rider, then continued.

"I have no doubts that you will pass this test. I can tell that you will be a great rider. You are mine, and I am yours; in the manner that all dragons and their riders have been linked through the years.. And so, as you said, we will do our best. As a team, as allies, as a dragon and his rider. And you will pass this and any hardships we encounter, my rider." With those words said, he heard another human approaching them, his head shifted to see said human better, his eyes sharp as he accessed him. Judging by Percival's reception to him, they seemed to be on good terms, but he was still watching both of them carefully.

After the initial exchange of words, Aether was amused by his rider telling him to stand down. And he could not resist the amused snort at the 'priceless work of artistic masterpiece' line about his friend. Yeah, the man seemed to be in love.

His eyes easily found Percival's friend's dragon, a Dream dragon; predictably taller than he, and a protective look about her. The talking of the two humans served as a sort of background noise for him, only really noticing a change when his rider went quiet. He looked down to see yet another human standing with them, and this one also seemed to be on good terms with that Mircea; then something interrupted the friendly way in which the newcomer had arrived. He didn't know what, but something had changed. And as the other one left, he saw that the newcomer's partner was the huge Storm dragon, now that was a dragon that he wouldn't want to get into a confrontation with.

As it settled down a bit, and his rider began talking to his friend again, Aether gave him a quick look, then it shifted to his friend, and then to the other young man. What was up with that? By now, he knew that humans could have...odd group dynamics, dragons too; but that just seemed strange.

What was up with them?

Hm.

Xevioso

Storm Dragon | Male | 250 | Mentions: Micheal [Dir. & Ind.] , Other Riders and Dragons (Ind.)

The young dragon was shocked with how quickly the week had passed. It seemed that he had just met his odd little human, the one who fainted upon seeing him. He couldn't help but give a small amused snort at the thought, one that was a rare thing to hear or witness. He was quite shocked and concerned that he had killed his rider by accident. His human was a little fiery one and he could admire that about the boy, but he needed to settle down at times, and he hoped he could help him do that. The young being seemed to be excited to have him as his dragon so that was a very good sign and it was well-appreciated - he feared being abandoned by those close to him and he was glad his human liked him already. It was a relief since most found him off putting at times with his more stoic nature at times , but only those who knew him knew it was a façade. He looked down at his human as the creature addressed him with a louder than normal voice - probably so he could hear him. Such an odd being. Why don't you try using our mind link silly, he said telepathically to the boy and nudging him forward playfully. But okay, be safe. Tell me if you need anything.

He watched with interest as the young boy practically ran over to a rather handsome looking lad around his age. Oh, Xevioso thought, he's in love, and a chuckle rumbled through his chest. He remembered , Mircea? Yes that was his name. How as soon as Michael has woken up from being passed out the two had began debating and arguing about who had the better dragon and who would be the better rider. But it seemed that Micheal just wanted the pretty boy's attention as he watched his human purposefully lean on him and give the boy a genuine smile and excited tone of voice. He knew the raven-haired lad was Zehra's rider and if he was here - that meant that she was too! And he looked to see her. She was near her rider with a protective look on her face and he sighed fondly as he looked at his oldest companion with an adoring look. She knew him the best out of all the dragons here and he knew her extremely well - they had many adventures together and a rather long history. He decided to walk over to her and brushed his wings against hers in a greeting.

"Hello Zehra. " he greeted formally, but there was a certain fondness to it, "I wish you and your rider luck on your ride. I know the both of you will do well. And it seems that our riders know each other - so it looks like we'll be seeing more of each other ." And he gave her a small smile before motioning to Mircea and Micheal with his head.

However, it didn't look like the boy was doing too well. His demeanor seemed to change a bit. Had something gone wrong? Is everything okay Micheal? He asked through their link. The boy must've not heard it because he watched as he awkwardly seemed to be fumbling over his words and he tilted his head in confusion and his brows furrowed. His companion seemed worried for him too and they both noticed the direction he was looking and it seemed that the young man only got worse. And the people they were looking at in the crowd earned a glare from Mircea. What the hell was going on?

"Excuse me Zehra, I think my Rider isn't doing alright. We'll catch up later, I promise." He said with certainty to the Dream Dragon, as he walked off to where he originally was. And it seems the young boy was nearly sprinting towards him. He didn't say anything but looked at him curiously - wanting to pry but not overstep his boundaries. He then noted the direction he looked again and assumed those were his parnets. And from the unsavory look and reaction they weren't on good terms. And so Xevioso held himself with pride and gave them a condescending glance - one looking both disappointed and angry with them, because how could they cause so much resentment from a child. If Micheal didn't like them - then neither did he.

He casually folded his wings in a manner so the boy didn't have to even look at them. It seems their was a lot of emotions running through his head and it looked like frustration was at the top of his list. The dragon blew a puff of air on the top of the boy's head to get him out of his thoughts - Hey, screw your parents. Don't let them mess up what you have going for you. You're a future Rider and you have a dragon , they dont. And don't worry, I'll always have your back - and I don't say that to a lot of folks so don't think it's a habit or anything. He spoke to his Rider while maintaining a serious expression and then it softened as he continued , Are you alright? You can tell me about what just happened if you feel comfortable. You seem a bit frustrated after seeing your friend, and he looked happy to see you just now and you seemed to tense up after seeing something. Did he say something wrong? Are you okay?

The dragon was concerned for his Rider. And he hoped it was alright that he was like this. Because if Micheal didn't realize it by then - well he sure as hell would soon , Xevioso would be with him until death do them part and there was no changing that.

Michael Evans - 17 - Male - Rider - Mentions: Mircea, Percival (indirect), Xevioso, Aether (indirect),

Michael felt bad.

Not just because of his reaction to...things, or how his emotions affected him like that. But also for making others worry about him, Mircea, and even his own dragon, who had looked like he had been talking to a friend before he all but turned tail and fled with his tail between his legs.

He didn't know what came over him back there.

What had even happened?

He didn't know.

He barely even noticed the movement above him, Xevioso folding his wings so that they blocked his view of his parents; he was distracted by the tumbling thoughts in his head. The high emotional state he was in was not helping with it, indeed, it seemed to be contributing to everything.

And so, he was not paying too much attention to his surroundings, more focused on keeping a semblance of composure so that he didn't have a breakout or something in public. And in front of his parents.

A puff of air hitting his skin and ruffling his short hair made him visibly jump, just managing to contain a shriek that wanted to slip out of his mouth. He spun around reflexively, his mind being confused momentarily at the sight of not a human face there, but being met with dark scales; then it caught up and he tilted his head upwards to see the face of his dragon there.

"Hey, screw your parents. Don't let them mess up what you have going for you. You're a future Rider and you have a dragon, they don't. And don't worry, I'll always have your back - and I don't say that to a lot of folks so don't think it's habit or anything."

Michael blinked up at the serious face of the dragon, mind processing his words. They were encourgaging, in his own blunt way; but the straightforwardness of the words was...nice.

"Are you alright? You can tell me about what just happened if you feel comfortable. You seem a bit frustrated after seeing your friend, and he looked happy to see you just now and you seemed to tense up after seeing something. Did he say something wrong? Are you okay?"

He was touched by the concern. He truly was. Especially since his mood had taken quite a violent turn towards the negative. But how could he explain that particular emotion that had risen at the sight of that ring? The feeling when he had seen his parents over in the crowd? With a sigh, he averted his gaze from the dragon's, looking off to the side, purposefully not looking over where Mircea was, then after a moment returned his stare to Xevioso's.

I...thank you for your concern. And no, Mircea didn't say anything wrong, it's just that...I notice he was wearing this ring on his finger. And, I...I don't think I liked that, for some reason. I don't know. And then seeing my parents in the crowd, that didn't help, I don't think. It's not any of my business if he likes someone or not, so I don't know why I acted like that.

This time, Michael replied over the mental link they both shared. It was still hard to get used to being able to telepathically communicate with anything. And a vague part of him wondered how exactly that worked. But he wasn't thinking about that now. Then, he looked away again, feeling awkward and a bit embarrassed from his previous behavior now that he was starting to calm down a bit.

After all, they still had the First Flight to go through. He should be more focused on that.

Storm Dragon || 202 Years || Male || M: Quill, Riders { ind. }, Dragons { ind. }

————————————————————————

Out of nowhere, in complete thin air, the birch tree that stood silent and wallowed in the small breeze was accompanied by two living beings. One, being the rider of a Storm Dragon, and two, the Storm Dragon himself. The dragon had appeared behind the tree, from out of the blue it seemed, and he had peaked his head out into plain sight looking down at the human who sat in its shadow. It seemed she was facing in the opposite direction of him. A low grumble rumbled within the beast's chest as he took a step into the shadows, stalking the girl from behind, taking slow and quiet steps. One would think, a dragon of his enormous size, but after years of practice Rim had taught himself to walk among others unnocticed. His eyes widened in curiosity as he neared, hunching downwards like a lioness in the tall grass, but he soon stood up as he was only a few inches away from the female Rider. Lowering his head, he appeared behind the female rider and growled softly as his head was lowered beside hers. His lips slightly curled upwards, revealing a singular tooth, his eyes staring the woman down as if he was threatening the very life of the human being.

Pulling his head back, the Dragon shook his head, his body following. Shaking his head violently as he snorted a few times, the creature plopped down, the earth shaking beneath his weight. As his legs stretched outwards, his large talons dug into the dirt and grass beneath himself, digging into the dirt and creating rivets in the earth. Licking his teeth, and taking in a big ol' yawn, he crossed his hands over one another, looking down at the girl.

Saying nothing, Rimfire held his head high, arching his neck as a swan would, looking out into the crowds of people and dragons. He could see a few unfortunate souls who would certainly not be making it past this First Flight, too fragile, too weak, or too distracted. However, a few had caught his eye that seemed that they would go on fairly well. Oh well, it only meant less trouble for himself and his rider. Huh, his rider. It sounded odd, coming from him, but he may be able to get used to it. Honestly, he never imagined himself becoming the Dragon of a Dragon Rider. He never saw himself as Dragon Rider material, last time he got violent trying to save some pathetic asswipe.. he was yelled at, it kinda sucked in all fairness. Yeah, so a dragon or two lost their heads, big deal. Sigh.. that should have been a big, clear reason why he was never invited to family dinners.

Shifting his body onto his side, he shook his head once more, grunting lazily. Rimfire yawned, his tongue curling in and out of his mouth, it almost looked as if he was about to bite it off as his jaws came in contact with another, but thankfully that was not the case. Breathing deeply and quite loudly through his nostrils, the Storm Dragon's jaw clenched randomly. Ignoring his random jaw clecnh, he glanced down to his talons, he lifted a claw and began twiddling it back and forth in a wave-like fashion, listening to the quiet "clicks" and "clacks" they would make as they rubbed against each other. Looking over towards the girl, he flared his nostrils before speaking.

"Nervous?"

Rimfire questioned with a deep tone, his throat rumbled at the sound, a growl-like tremble.
