Veracious

Female | 5 Years | Mexican/Red Wolf | The Eastern Mountain Pack | Hunter | M: (Dir) Hondo. NPC snow leopard. (Ind) Storm.

As the huge cat loomed over them, Veracious was completely frozen in fear. She's fought pumas before and won, but this thing was much bigger than a puma, and it had thick fur that would make it impossible to bite it good. Hondo slowly put himself between her and the snow leopard, his teeth bared and hackles raised bravely. She would protest in any other situation, but right now, she was honestly too afraid to process the information fully, and even if she could, this isn't exactly the time to argue. They could both die in just a few seconds.

Then it pounced.

Veracious yelped in fear, leaping back to dodge the pounce. It wasn't aiming for her though, rather it was aiming for Hondo. It completely ignored her presence and continued attacking him, most likely because he seemed like the strongest of the two, and the biggest threat. Without even thinking twice, Veracious ran at the fluffy puma, her teeth bared in aggression despite her fear. Her jaws clamped tightly onto one of it's hind legs, and she attempted to shake it's leg around irritatingly to divert it's attention onto her, but instead, it just kicked her off with it's other leg, barely acknowledging the wound that appeared on it's ankle, and continuing to lash at Hondo viciously.

Trying a second attempt to distract it, Veracious ran back at it's ankles, biting down hard onto it's other hind leg. Again, it just shoved her off, but irritation was clear in it's growl. Then, she ran at it again, clamping her jaws back into a previously inflicted wound on it's ankle from before, but again it just kicked her off and began attacking Hondo again. It was already proving to be really challenging to try distract this fluffy puma thing.

Of course, the day after you get out of the medics den, your going to go back. As the leopard pounced, time seemed to stop. It's mouth opened, revealing a row of sharp teeth, claws extended, and about three hundred pounds leaping at him. Hondo hesitated, as he hadn't anticipated the leopard to attack, which now seemed stupid, as now the leopard had the upper hand, or should I say paw? He dodged at the last second, but a paw still connected with his left hind leg and back. The leopard landed with all the force on his left hip, and dragged Hondo down. Hondo briefly spotted Veracious, her face back in a snarl, leaping towards the leopard. Yet the leopard still moved swiftly, quickly regaining its footing and launching another attack on Hondo, who tried to desperately claw his way away, but his hind leg wouldn't cooperate. Irritation sprung in the leopards eyes as he kicked hard with its hind leg, knocking Veracious away, and continued the attack on Hondo. Claws began to sink into Hondo's hip and back. Once again the leopard stopped as Veracious attacked again, but after dealing her another blow to the side, began attacking again. Luckily while the leopard was distracted Hondo regained his footing, pain surging from his probably dislocated/broken hip. Hondo knew the only way to defeat the leopard was to expose his belly, and quickly devised a plan. Hondo leapt (with as much force as a three legged wolf could) onto the leopards back, clawing its way towards its neck, leaving deep gashes in his wake. He lunged for the scruff of its neck, and latched on with his jaws, enough the hold on if attempted to get thrown off. The leopard reared, claws trying to reach Hondo's jaws on its neck. He connected with Hondo's muzzle, leaving a deep gash on his snout. But with the strength Hondo had left, he managed to hold on. In the process, the leopard was completely exposing his belly, and Hondo hoped against hope that Veracious would catch on.

Veracious

Female | 5 Years | Mexican/Red Wolf | The Eastern Mountain Pack | Hunter | M: (Dir) Hondo. NPC snow leopard. (Ind) None.

Just when Veracious thought all hope was lost, Hondo managed to escape the snow leopard's attacks, with some very painful looking wounds left over from the onslaught. She clung to the bit of hope they had left, and she lunged back at the snow leopard's hind leg and grabbed onto it's ankle again, biting down onto it. A loud, and very painful, cracking sound echoed into her ears, and the snow leopard's hind paw went limp, and a grunt in pain followed afterwards.

Jumping back to see what happened, Veracious' anxiety went to it's peak when she saw Hondo was on the leopard's back, grabbing it's scruff, his pearly white teeth now bloodstained, and the snow leopard's hind paw was completely destroyed from her bite. He was clearly very badly injured by the snow leopard. But now, it's belly was exposed. Veracious took the chance, and sprung over towards the leopard, her teeth bared and her amber eyes reflecting hope and bravery at the same time, and also admiration of Hondo's perseverance. She lept up, latching onto the snow leopard's throat, and biting down and squeezing her eyes shut, her tail wagging from the fear.

The snow leopard's screeching roars filled the environment around, even scaring some birds away from their location. Veracious held a tight grip, trying to either rip it's throat out, or suffocate it to death. Her aggressive snarls were muffled through a mouthful of fur. It's flailing made it incredibly difficult to stay locked on it's throat, and she'd be surprised if Hondo wasn't flung off of it's back. She couldn't really see though, her vision was completely blocked by fur.

Then, a pain rapidly traveled down her right side, the snow leopard's claws slicing deep into her flesh. Blood spurted out of the wound, and the snow leopard completely annihilated her side from her shoulder to her hind leg. But the pain only made Veracious grip tighter into it's neck, puncturing deeper into it. The taste of snow leopard blood was actually quite delicious in her opinion.

Then a tearing sound echoed through the area, and went Veracious flying through the air with a chunk of flesh in her jaws. The snow leopard threw her with all it's might, but she managed to grip on just good enough. And the snow leopard was dead. Veracious hit the ground with a thud, sending a sharp pain back down her side, and making her drop the throat. Gasping in exhaustion, Veracious laid there, relief overflowing her, and concern for Hondo. Was he okay?

Veracious slowly stood up, her legs shaking from the pain of the wound. She only managed to get halfway up before it just became too painful, and she slid back to the floor, a whimper escaping her jaws. She wanted to see if Hondo was alright, but the wound hurt really bad, and that made her feel awful and selfish. He practically saved her by stepping in between her and the snow leopard before.

Hondo saw through the corner of his eyes Veracious flew threw the air and attacked the leopard in the stomach. She had recently rendered the leopards right hind leg useless, so the leopard had a harder time throwing her off. But she managed to hang on and hold tight on its neck. As the leopard attempted to attack her, he was able to land blows to Hondo too, landing and causing a deep gash on his shoulder. The gash went so deep that the leopards claw got stuck in Hondo's flesh. Every time he attempted to throw Hondo off, the claw went deeper into his flesh. As it lunged for Veracious, he threw his front paw forward, enough to send Hondo with it. In midair, barely off the ground, Hondo heard a crunch sound as he went flying away from the fight. He landed with a hard thud, his head landing hard on the ground. The air rushed our of his lungs, and he just lay there, breathing heavily, watching as Veracious fought the leopard. Since Hondo was now out of the picture, the leopard was able to hit Veracious harder. He saw as it raked its claws down her side, leaving a very deep gash. But Veracious refused to let go. Hondo attempted to get up, but his hip and shoulders refused to let him move. He turned his attention back to Veracious, and at just that moment, she was flung from the leopard, it's throat latched in her mouth. She landed hard, as the leopard dropped, trying to breathe, until it died. She landed with a hard thud, and with a small crunch noise. Oh no. Was she dead? Determination surged through him as he attempted again to rise to his paws, he got to his two front paws before collapsing in a heap again. At the same time he saw Veracious successfully get to her feet, and get a couple tail lengths before falling out again. He had to get to her side. With one final attempt, he tried to get to his paws, and finally he succeeded. In doing so, his shoulders throbbed in pain, and at this point, he coukdnt feel his left hip, and his right hip burned in pain. He tried to make his way over, his left leg dragging, and his right barely contributing. But he slowly made his way over to her, until he arrived, then laid down with a thump. Breathing heavily he looked over her wounds. Besides the huge gash down her side, there were no exterior injuries, interior ones he couldnt be sure. He moved his head to look at her amber eyes, and with a graspy, pain filled voice, muttered, "Veracious, are you all right? Are you okay?" His eyes clouded over with concern. If only he hadn't been so foolish to think he could actually scare away the leopard, if only he hadn't been so dumb, none of this would have happened.

River | F | Eastern Pack -- | M: Hondo(dir), Veracious(dir), Xola(dir)
River had decided to take a small nap after Killjoy left but she quickly woke up. Her shoulder did not hurt her anymore and she was already getting antsy. Getting to her paws, she peeked out the den to look around. It looked like Xola was nowhere to be found so she stepped out and headed towards the entrance. It couldn't hurt to hunt a little bit right? She'd be back before Killjoy came back. River's tail wagged slightly as she thought about him. A sigh left her maw before she disappeared out of the camp. She wasn't sure how Night would take it. The male basically acted like a father to her, and that's how she saw him too. Yes, he was her alpha but he could be a little. . . .overprotective sometimes.

River had trotted a good ways, following a small path as she stayed in her head. Her ear flicked as she heard a rustle nearby. She fell into a stalking position, creeping forward. Stalking around a bush, her eyes honed in on the rabbit nibbling on some clovers. River stilled her tail, which had started to twitch with anticipation. Lowering herself a bit more, she creeped forward, being careful of the twigs nearby. The rabbit looked up for a moment and she stilled, waiting for it to go back to eating. Once it did, she gathered her paws underneath of her. Pouncing, she came down on its unsuspecting back, cracking it quickly.

Picking it up, she looked around before trotting down the path again. Maybe she could catch another before returning. River kept up a steady trot, almost reaching her namesake when she heard a faint roar. She paused before heading that direction at a steady trot. Whatever that was, it couldn't be good. She didn't know the territory very well however, so it was slow going. Jumping over a log, she paused as the territory came to an end. Huh, nothing here. River turned before pausing as something caught her nose. She dropped the rabbit to sniff the air before growling. Snow leopard. She had encountered the cat once when she was younger. They normally kept to the high mountains at the edge of the Raven territory. However, she had noticed that more creatures that were not native to the land was around more. It was definitely odd.

River retrieved her rabbit, in case she could use it for bait away from the leopard before heading after the smell. Following the border a little ways, she froze as she saw the lifeless bundle of fur of the leopard. Her eyes scanned the clearing, finding two wolves quickly. Sprinting forward, she dropped the rabbit near one of the trees before coming up beside the female. The few months she spent with Flame came back to her and she looked over the two, finding their injuries. "I can already tell that you two fought and won that battle at a cost. I can't do much other than stop the bleeding right now so stay still." She said before turning to find an overturned log. Scratching up moss and cobwebs, she came back to the female. She placed the cobwebs on the gash before turning to the male. Placing the moss over the spots she could see that needed it, she finally backed away.

"Stay put and try not to move. I'll be back with help." She said before letting out a long howl to Killjoy. Come to the eastern border. Urgent. Come to eastern border. River then took off, her legs a blur as she headed back to camp. Her paws kept her on the path which she was sure would take her back. It seemed like ages before she ran back into camp. She located Xola quickly in the queen's den. While she didn't want to storm in like a whirlwind, she did need the medic. Quietly, River headed into the den. She dipped her head to the queen before whispering to Xola, "You are very much needed at the eastern border. Two of your wolves got into a fight with a snow leopard. They are in need of immediate attention."

River backed out of the den before padding towards the entrance. She would wait to escort the medic to the two wolves. She didn't want to leave them by themselves too long due to coyotes but she also didn't want the medic traveling alone. Hopefully Killjoy got the message and was on his way to them now.

Veracious

Female | 5 Years | Mexican/Red Wolf | The Eastern Mountain Pack | Hunter | M: (Dir) Hondo. River. (Ind) None.

Veracious' ears turned to the sound of Hondo's footsteps coming towards her. She grunted in exhaustion and turned to look towards him, her expression filled with worry. He was clearly in a very bad shape, his left leg was dragging on the ground, and all his other legs were weak. Then, he landed next to her with a thud. Her heartbeat instantly sped back up the moment she felt herself calming down, but all she could do was helplessly lay here. She knew nothing about medicine. "I'm okay.. Are you?" Her voice was filled with concern. Then she paused to think, before she was about to speak again.

Then a random wolf darted over to them, seeming quite calm considering the situation they were in. Hondo was probably internally and externally bleeding to death, and Veracious was just something delaying him from getting the help he needs. The wolf said something that she somehow didn't quite manage to hear before running off again. She didn't know who that was, but by the way she smelled, she was a pack member and was there to help. Soon after she returned with some old spider webs, applying them to her side wound and the wounds on Hondo that were visible surprisingly fast. Then, she ran off to call the pack.

Veracious was dreading the attention she was probably going to receive shortly, but she couldn't do anything about it. Hondo needed help. "Who was that?" She turned her gaze back towards Hondo, still concerned, but trying to distract them both from their wounds.

Hondo lay on his side, panting heavily. A smile twitched on his face when she said she was alright. As long as she was fine, he was fine. "I'll manage." He said with a chuckle, he meant to say more but a familiar scent hit his nose. He'd only ever seen her once before, but he knew who she was. River had come to their rescue. River made her way over, and Hondo nodded in response. She came back moments later with some moss and cobwebs, which Hondo knew would help Veracious, but wouldn't do much for him. As she applied to cobwebs, something stabbed in his shoulder, and Hondo winced, but made no such noise. After she was finished, she howled and ran off. As soon as she was gone, Hondo sat up Alitalia, then careened his head back as much as he could towards his shoulder. Whatever was in his shoulder stabbed him again, this time enough to make him whimper. He rubbed his shoulder with his muzzle, and felt something hard protruding from his flesh. He kept nuzzling it, his shoulder now throbbed in pain, until it stuck out enough to grab with his teeth. He tightly gripped the object and pulled hard out, and the bloody claw lay between Hondo and Veracious. It turned out, when he was thrown from the battle, the claw broke off the leopard, and was still latched in his shoulder. Hondo looked in Veracious' direction as she asked the quesrion. "Oh her? Yeah, she's from the Raven pack, but she now lives here, and from what I've heard, plans to become Killjoy's mate. She's the future Alpha Female of the Eastern Mountain Pack." He looked back down towards the claw that lay at his feet, then laid his head back on the ground. He gave a shirt sigh before he was back to breathing heavily, doing all that he could to stay awake.

Killjoy | M | Eastern | Alpha |
Don't mind the massive paragraph >.>
Light paw steps were heard behind Shadow and Night as he trotted behind, his tail wagging to mask the anxiety coursing through his veins. What would Night say? Would he take River away from him? No one said it was easy letting someone go, he knew that from personal experience but surely Night would see that? A mouse ran across leaves nearby, making the brown male perk up, glancing back at his sister's fresh grave. He would make sure to bring her some flowers next time he was in the area. Killjoy's gaze fell to the ground, watching the path engulfed by his large paws. A scent made the large male stop in his tracks, sniffing the air. Rivers' scent hovered it in like a sweet reminder of her lovely presence. But surely this was a fluke? Her scent should have been wiped out by the storm… A distant howl caught his attention, the eastern border? “You two go ahead to camp, I've got to take care of something.” Ears back, eyes shining with worry. Had River gotten hurt? Without another word, the Alpha took off in a sprint towards the border. With the long strides and adrenaline pushing Killjoy forward, it didn't take more than ten minutes to reach the border. The smell of blood disturbed him, making his heart spike even more than it already had. His mind flashed back to Marbled and Brecken, was all of the sudden injuries his fault? Was he failing his job at keeping his pack safe? A low whine escaped his throat as he began to search for his fallen wolves. Killjoy spotted Hondo first, running over to him, “Hondo, what happened?” He questioned, looking around, eyes falling on Veracious. His nose told him that the cobwebs on them had been River, his heart swelled with pride before returning to the emergency. What more could he do for them right at that moment? Water. Water was important to keep them hydrated and healthy. “I'll be right back, don't you two go anywhere.” He demanded, voice deepening as he said the order. “Not even a muscle.” He growled. Now he scouted out the river not too far away, dragging with him a large piece of seemingly frozen moss. Quickly, he dipped within the shallow area before returning to Hondo and Veracious. “Drink before I drip some on your injuries to help clean them.” Nosing the moss pieces that he'd split from the large piece to them, worrying that he was doing it wrong. Trying was better than nothing, right? Surely. Gently taking a smaller piece off of the large moss, Killjoy stood over Hondo, dripping water slowly onto the cobwebs, knowing well that it stung. “I'm sorry.” He whispered, wishing someone would come and direct him on what to do. “Tell me when to stop.” He said softly.

Hondo's breathing was beginning to slow, three short, shallow breaths followed by a deep breath. Hondo's ears suddenly perked, and he slowly and painfully put his head up. He couldnt smell who it was from here, but he could hear their footsteps. As the figure showed itself, Hondo gave a low raspy growl; back off. As the figure approached, he recognized Killjoy and gave a small smile. He slowly laid his head on the ground again, When Killjoy asked what happened. "Snow Leopard attack, River help, went to get more." His words were filled with pain, but they pretty much summed everything up. Killjoy then left to get something, then came back with moss soaked in water. He offered some to drink, then did the same for Veracious. Then Killjoy began to drip the water on the wounds, which caused Hondo to twitch and flinch by the pain of it. He knew it needed to happen, or the infection would set in, so he allowed it with complaining. "Stop," Hondo said after awhile, wincing as he said it, "You need to help Veracious, hers is worse." He looked over to Veracious, hoping her wounds were okay, he took full blame for everything, and quilt struck him as he saw the gash on her side. This was all his fault, and he would never forget it.

Willow || 6 Years || Female || Raven Queen || M: Brute, Pack(ind)
...
She paused hearing Brute speak, pulling her gaze from the den's entrance to the male beside her. Curious she observed his face, giving a nod with a solemn expression. Willow listened intently, leaning into him slightly to let him know she was there. As he finished she gave him a soft smile, "they were your parents, no matter what happened family is still family in the end". She voiced sadly gently nosing the male's shoulder before continuing, "I am happy too, and thank you for telling more about you past".
.
Willow smiled gently and nuzzled against Brute, taking a moment to just enjoy this. Before sighing and leaning her head against his shoulder, "I can understand being left behind by you're parents, mine had done the same thing when I was young. I'm glad Night was able to find you and bring you here, before you found yourself in a worse situation". Willow hesitated for a moment, if only she had found this pack sooner maybe, just maybe, things would've been different. Maybe that wolf wouldn't have lost his life, maybe she wouldn't have had to bury her pups. A gust of cold wind snapped her from her spiralling thoughts, giving herself a mental shake she pushed those thoughts away. Focusing back on her mate, Brute, the beta was everything she wanted, yet despite her fears and worries she would do everything she could in return to support him.

Aoife || 4 Years || Female || Eastern Scout || M: Pack(ind), Hondo, Veracious, River, Killjoy
...
Groaning softly as light reached her eyes, warming her pelt as the sun rose her from sleep. Stifling a yawn as she stood to stretch, Aoife had drifted off in her spot under the overheanging bushes by the camp entrance. Something she admitingly did too often. Yet as she contemplated how late she was to wake a sound that sent a shiver down her spine, rose over the trees. Her fur bristled as she recognised the female who issued the call, River. Something had happened at the boarder that warranted calling for the alpha, that wasn't good. But before she could move said she-wolf rushed by towards the medic's den, pausing once the female exited and was moving back towards the entrance. Aoife moved, her paws light as she trotted towards her, "the border, tell me who and what". She questioned, only needing the briefest explanation. Once it was given she spun on her hind legs and launched herself into a full sprint, not carrying for the branches that raked her pelt as she tore through the undergrowth.
.
Aoife knew these lands, having been a scout had proved to be an asset here. Slowing as she scented the nearing border, Aoife kept alert for any sounds or smells. As she neared a particular spot her fur bristled, that was blood she smelled. The scent was strong which could only mean whatever happened had been bad, pushing herself a tad quicker she picked up the familiar scents of her packmates. 'Please be ok, please be alive' she found herself chanting in her head as she drew closer. As she broke through the bushes she froze, Hondo and Veracious were badly injured. Aoife trotted forward noting the presence of alpha Killjoy whom she dipped her head to, glancing at the blood soaked body of a snow leopard she frowned. "Shall I remove the...thing, least it attract any more dangers" she voiced looking to the larger brown male. If the scent of blood was this strong it would likely draw attention, they would need to act quickly once the medic arrived to help assess the two wounded so they could be brought back to camp. A brief glance to the two wolves had anxiety clawing at her heart, they looked bad and she couldn't help fear that she'd watch more of her packmates leave them before winter had fully set in.
