Character Description

Biography
Lightning flashed through the sky, the blinding light momenarily illuminating the dense forest below. Fat raindrops fell through the thick canopy above, making the dense bracken-infested floor below almost impossible to walk on without the threat of slipping over. Trees groaned with the force of the wind as the limbs and trunks bent under its strength. The storm was relentless, and the forest was awake.
Awake with the sounds of a wolf pack on the run.

In front of the pack, a lone female clutched a newborn pup tightly in her jaws. Ignoring the whines of its distressed daughter, the mother glanced back once to the pack; they were snarling as they persued quickly, bounding over every obstacle the female hoped would slow them down with finesse. The mothering wolf snapped her gaze forwards once more, scrabbling over slippery stones and grass to try and gain a distance.

The chase continued. The pack surged forwards, and it wasn`t long before teeth were snapping at the female`s heels. She growled passed the fur that her teeth held onto dearly, yet the wind whipped the sound away from her throat.
Despite the dire situation she and her pup were in, the mother saw hope.
The river was right ahead. If she crossed the river, then the chase would end. She would be free.

With her legs screaming for her to stop and her coat weighed down by the torrential rain, the mother pushed on for the final few stides.
One. Two. Three-
As she leapt into the rapidly-moving water, the cold momentarily froze her limbs. Forcing herself to keep her head above water, the wolf refused to give in now.
Claw, kick. Claw, kick.
As the water dragged her downstream, the mother finally heaved her water-logged form onto the muddy bank. She turned to look back, watching as her persuers stood on the opposite bank. They snarled, teeth bared for a moment longer as a few tested the waters. Immediately they drew back, finally giving in.
They wouldn`t test their luck in the water.
Reluctantly they turned, trotting slowly back into the depths of the forest.

For a while, the mother did not move. Her limbs felt like lead, yet her heart was light.
She was free; she and her pup were safe.
It was only when another bolt of lightning danced through the sky that the mother wolf pushed herself onto all fours. Gently picking up a soaked pup by the scruff, she lumbered into the trees. She needed to find a den; escaping would do her no good if she got ill.

As the first rays of dawn slowly started to trickle over the horizion, the fae lay down in a small hole she found in the roots of a large tree; she could assume it was an abandoned fox burrow. Circling a few times before laying down, the mother alternated between cleaning and nuzzling her trembling child.
When the female pup finally started to slip off into a deep slumber, the mother curled up around her in a tender manner.
"Yes, rest, Ocarae; rest, 'she who runs free...'"
