| Moose, I don't think you're being too lenient, it just seems to be what works. Like they said to me, document what he does and leave him in there linger if he doesn't seem to be getting it. |

| Moose, if it's a puppy, then you should keep them in longer. Depending on how long it takes him to settle down that is. ut I recommend keeping them in the crate for an hour or two depending on the severity of the bad behavior |

| Does that mean I'm too lenient on my pup? I'd just let him back out when he settles (no barking, pawing at the gate ect) and put him back in again if he repeats the bad behaviour |

| Graves Another idea is get a small spray bottle of water n just lightly spray them with it if the crate doesn't work. That worked with one of my dogs |

| graves maybe an hour or two, it would differ depending on the dog, some dogs learn fast others don't so you may have to do it multiple times |

| Graves Personally, if my dog got in trouble, he'd stay in there for an hour. Make sure to keep tabs on what he does, how many times he does it, and the actions you take. Write it all down, but keep changing the time he's in there to find the perfect amount he needs to stay in |

| My dog got in trouble and is now being crated. (This is his punishment zone, not a comfort zone, his bed is elsewhere.) How long is reasonable to leave him in there? I don't want to leave him in there for too long, but I feel like if I let him out too soon he won't understand. |
