I grew up with a mutt Pittie and she was amazing, just reactive to other dogs as she lost her eyesight around 13. Now I have a weird mutt (we have no effing clue what he is, vet suspects sire is coyote and his dam is shepherd/heeler/rottie), he is well behaved but it took some EFFORT dude. He's also allergic to all of the dog food brands we've tried, so we cook for him.

From what I understand, rescues aren't supposed to be easy. Those dogs should be going to good homes that can handle and care for them, I would consider it shady if you could just go in and walk out with a dog no questions asked.
