Unfortunately we have to meet an early spring birth in March and April since they're beef cattle and need to be a certain age to be safely and healthily separated from momma. I wish we could do later but in the western states they're usually calved by May

Aww, that's so sweet! ^^ it's definitely tough but the lil baby calves need it so they don't freeze. We've taken many a chilled calf into our house and put them into a warm bathtub xD sounds gross to most but it's great saving lives. Sometimes they'll still get frostbitten enough that the tips of their ears shrivel up, but in a way it's relieving to see that because you know they're not frozen past that and that you saved their life! The amniotic fluid will freeze to their hair and just makes it so much worse for the newborns
