Special Skills Kraken stepped out of the pack territory, the moon illuminating her sable and cream-flecked coat. She released a soft howl, one not to wake the others, but to call for her old mate. She sat beneath an oak tree, feeling tranquil as the leaves rustled, swaying to the chilly breeze. Finally he appeared, and she stood, her belly swollen by another. She approached him, and he called out a glad greetings.
"Hello." she said somberly. It was bittersweet, this meeting. For she had to tell him the truth. He cocked his head. He could sense her foreboding.
"What is wrong?" he asked quite simply. Kraken had her eyes downcast, focusing on her ivory claws as she racked her mind for an answer.
"The pups," she began quietly, "are not yours. Northwind forced me to mate with him." She shifted, feeling unnerved by his gaze, and she felt as though she were about to pop. And then immediately he was atop her, digging his claws into her belly. His hues were ice cold, like the seas of death itself.
"Not mine?" he growled, knowing he had heard her, but nonetheless had to repeat it. He dug his claws in harder. "I could kill these pups, you know."
Kraken winced, trying to pull away, though she could not. "ByzantineÂ…please. I'm about to have them." Finally he got off, and she stumbled to her paws. Byzantine was angered at the very sight of her swollen stomach, how she now cowered but all that showed was her belly. He advanced towards her, his lip curling. Finally Kraken got to her senses, but her fear was only directed at how his mood had changed.
She bolted, as brusque as she could, and finally stopped, panting. Kraken knew in the depths of her mind that Byzantine could have pursued her. Could have killed the pups. But he did not. She waddled back into the pack territory, slowing when she glimpsed Northwind at
