Biography
Aemon Hawthorne is the oldest son of King Terran Reid and Queen Astral. He and his brother, Justinian, were born into a litter of four to their mother in autumn, their younger brother and sister (who would have been heir to the throne) did not survive the birth. Reports will later conflict over whether or not Astral was unable to conceive again, or simply was too restless and war-like to remain idle during pregnancy again. For as long as could be remembered, House Bron was always ruled by a Queen, the direct descendant of Solas Bron--sometimes with a King of Bron lineage by her side. Such was the case with Astral and her mate, Terran. However never in the 37 generations prior had a male of Bron blood ruled as King and first among Alphas, with his Queen as second. No amount of wise counsel or snarls of indignation and fear could sway Astral's mind. The greatest fear being that Aemon would take a female mate from another pack, and it would be her bloodline that usurp the throne. Astral made a pact, that Aemon's mate and future Queen would be from within the pack, which settled much discontent. Aemon and Justinian were arguably the best pair of fighters that had ever been seen in the Bron House--surpassing Duke Bastion and Prince Cassimir, until only Cassimir's daughter, Cassindra, could match them in a fight. Together, these three wolves were unstoppable and closer than any three souls could be. Aemon grew with the spirit of his mother, hungering for blood and warfare, spirited, charismatic, smiling, and wild. He was never sitting still, always roaming, confident and cocky. Aemon was passionate about being King. He maintained allies through a combination of intimidation and charm. When the time came for him to choose a mate, he selected the one he found most beautiful in the pack--Zira Valeria. It was a strategic move, as it at last united Duchess Clareese and Queen Lucretia's bloodline. It was not a love match, though Aemon remained loyal to Zira until their heir was born. There was happiness for a time. Their daughter, Belfast, was slain in a coup by the Nameless ones and her guard, Sir Beren, vanished shortly after. After that, things changed between Zira and Aemon, both blaming themselves, and perhaps each other for the loss of their child. They did manage to conceive a second heir, Jocelyn Thornvale. In spite of the loss of Belfast, Aemon could not stop himself from loving again, and while his relationship with Zira frayed into nothingness, he favored his daughter above everyone. Aemon eventually sought company against the furs of countless lovers over the course of his life, while Zira become celibate, preferring to be a caregiver for the elders, look after the pups, and improve the Bron caves rather than fight or hunt. It is perhaps why Aemon sought out females with vicious reputations and sired countless offspring in other packs. Terran urged his son to consider the ramifications of producing so many potential heirs from strong blood, but Aemon agreed never to mate with anyone in the Bron pack nor to bring any of his children home. Aemon ruled well, and his daughter, Jocelyn had a son, and Aemon, in his pride, made a new decree--that the best and eldest offspring would become ruler over the Bron lands, no matter their sex. Aemon's grandson was named Piaras Leopold, after two famous Bron males, and Piaras sired Esmira and Esmira was the mother of Tavora. The Bron line seemed secure...but Aemon's pride got the better of him, when one day his last lover brought him a son blessed with the power that had manifested in Aemon and Justinian, a son that Aemon had always craved in spite of his love for Jocelyn. This child had the eyes of the God of Fury. By this time, Aemon was 17, his time on the throne was close to an end. For the first time, Justinian spoke against his brother, warning him not to take the God of Fury's offer of a son. Another heir, made in the image of Aemon, in the pack would shake the foundations. Neither Aemon, Justinian, or Cassindra might be alive long enough to see this child raised with restraint and wisdom. Nothing would sway the King, not even Jocelyn's concern. Aemon's story begins to close with the introduction of the Forgotten Prince...Hades Tiernan.
