I was walking a trail ride for a group of people once and for some reason the owner put visa in front. And I kept telling the girl to not let visa get near me. And the person riding DC behind Visa to not let DC get near Visa. And the whole time I'm walking this girl is letting Visa near me. Do you know how I knew that? Because I kept hearing chomps behind me and she grabbed my shirt once.

Anyways, I'm off to irrigate and check cows and horses :) Have a wonderful day everyone! <3

Anna I feel you. Stuff happens but it can be so frustrating, at the very least I would have expected her to make connections or other arrangements for you :')

Most of our mares are sweet, but we have two really feisty ones. We have Visa and Liz. Liz will try to bite you if you walk next to her and use the reins to guide (we do trail rides for little ones) or when you're putting her saddle on. She definitely gives you the side-eye. And then Visa. I call her my visagator. Visa will bite you for existing. And kick you. Part of it is because her last owners sucked and if she was mean they wouldn't work her. But most of its her personality. Theres a horse in front of her? She'll bite it? She sees a stallion? She's fighting. She has a horse behind her? Dear lord she'll kick it.

Fern - exactly! I want so bad to barrel race. I ws gonna take lessons and then the lady had to get a job and say she had no time for me any more. SHe even would have lent me her horse to take to races. She was the stepdaughter of a friend of my moms. But now Im without lessons and she is still busy. My mom bugs her once in a while to ask if she has time because its not right to promise something and break it. I was 11a t the time. .3 years later, no lessons still!

The gelding is pretty lazy except when the breeze is going. The mare always wants to go

Stallions aren't usually for riding. That's why you don't see them often. It's considered a rarity to see a stallion being ridden for rodeo, unless we're talking broncs. But again, a lot of broncs are mares because they're fiery. When people keep studs studs instead of gelding them, it's likely because they want to primarily use them for breeding purposes. They can be ridden and are in some eventing style things, but almost never rodeos just on the off chance you have a stud that can't mind his manners around mares.

In my little bit of experience, the gelding I do lessons on is a bit spicy. But he is a pony and young. The mare the same age is pretty calm That's only two horses though, every one is different.

Cowboy will do everything in his power to not get anywhere near mud. Including but not limited to. 1. Going full stop. No amount of kicking, cropping, or rolling forward will get him to move 2. Almost falling and impaling himself and myself on a bush. 3. Skirting around it like he's trying to place #1 in a dancing competition.

Mares are good for fiery events like barrels and such because they're more feisty and have a lot of heart lol

Or geldings but mares are usually the most used horses. If you watch rodeo, the horses names are usually Mares names, not stallions.
