a ray of light from the moon: a beam of moonlight.
The moon had reached its peak when a tall and lean female wolf appeared from the bushes. She lifted her muzzle and took a deep breath, her nose standing out from the rest of her, with its liver color. The female's blue hues scanned the area. It seemed quiet here, Not in an alarming way, but instead, a sense of peacefulness washed over her.
She was far from home and had been traveling for days. What for, you may wonder? She didn't know, despite having been drawn here. Perhaps it was the spirits urging her forward. Wanting her to continue the journey. The color of her eyes seemed to shift from dark to light blue, before returning to its original color once again. A faint memory entered her mind. A memory of an elder wolf from her former group - not pack, because they had never made the land, that they occupied, their territory. The elder used to tell her that her eyes housed spirits that weren't her own. Apparently one could tell by how it looked as if the color of her eyes moved, like blue fog or smoke. She hadn't thought much of it, herself, since merely thinking surviving had been a struggle from the moment she was born - packless, in a bachelor band of 4 male wolves, an elderly but weak female and then her mother, who didn't hesitate leaving them all behind for a shot at being the alpha female of another pack.
Their little group only lasted another year after that, which was impressive, considering that everything had been temporary. No pack hierarchy, no rules. A group of lone wolves.
The sound of paws moving confidently through the underwood brought the lone female back to reality. Not even a second later, a pair of beautiful heterochromia eyes; One blue, the other brown, appeared from only a few feet away. Once the stranger fully emerged, she noted that the female had a stunning hickory and black coat. Behind her, a greyscale male and a few others followed, "Who are you?" the first one asked, her voice deep for a female, but confident and kind. The moonlight female lifted her head to meet her, "Moonbeam," she said, to which the other nodded, "I'm Rhiannon, the leader of this pack," the dark hickory female said.
Moonbeam could tell that she wasn't a young wolf, perhaps 9 years old, which was a lot for an alpha female, and she probably had a history of ancestors that gave her a purpose. Moonbeam, herself, was only 3, no longer that young for a wild wolf, but nothing near the wise years that Rhiannon seemed to carry. Moonbeam didn't have that much history behind her either. As far as she knew, she was the 1st generation of her own history - her own ancestor.
Moonbeams eyes met Rhiannons, and for a short second, a flash of hurt and understanding seemed to be shared between them.
"Welcome to Amarok Valley...and the pack of Aftermath," the alpha female said.
