Character Description
Biography
The dark brown wolf crouched low in the tall grasses, his ears erect and straining to catch any noise from the scene down below. He watched strange men take his pack away and had to restrain himself from going down there and rescuing them. He would have if there were only a few, but this huge swarm was too much. Especially with their nasty smelling guns that could kill a wolf in one shot from the ghastly, dark moon looking mouth. It was a fierce creature to have against you and Tonka thought of it as a suicide mission, hence his hasty retreat into the shadowed peak above the valley. He had been lucky the rain had made the ground match his pelt; the men had not seemed to notice him gone or even that he was there in the first place. He had hidden his pawsteps when traversing through the shrubs that bookmarked the edge of the sheer cliff, the hill a short leap down from where he currently was.

Watching the men get into their large, log-like beasts that they seemed to enjoy being in, Tonka stiffened at the sight of his pack in the back of each vehicle, trapped in cages. Symbols on the side, lions and other animals etched onto it, made his blood run cold. He could only hope that they would be alright. Twitching his soft tawny ears, the now-loner decided to move away from that territory, lest the humans decide to double-back and check for any stragglers. At that thought, he shivered and hastily quickened his pace, loping through the top of the hill and making his way down to where he would travel in the opposite direction the humans exited to. His light brown eyes moved through the darkening forest as he past the faded scentmarker that had signified the end of his former packs territory. Soon going into a long stretch of unclaimed land, he stopped at a stream and lapped at the water, wondering which way to turn. Could be fine himself another pack? Would any even want him?

Subconsciously clicking his long dark nails against the smooth stone that sided both lengths of the warped stream, Tonka sniffed the air in hopes of prey, but found none. Trying to dig up grubs from overturning rocks did not do him any good either. Sinking his paws into the mushy soil, Tonka tilted his head as he pondered further on what to do about his life, and more importantly, how he would survive. Well, time spent dithering about it by an empty patch of wood is definitely not the answer. Shaking off any remnants of the water droplets, Tonka picked a direction randomly with his muzzle, ensured it was definitely not the way he came in, and set off with a determined arch in his spine and his tail pointed high. He decided to prepare for anything that may come his way, unforseen difficulties needing to be prepared for. It was only when he traversed along some tall sycamores that he heard a faint, nearby heartbeat. Ever hopeful for a quick and easy meal, Tonka raced along the tattered grass, then skidded to a stop upon seeing a few wolves gathered around a fallen elk.

The prey looked old and withered, the remnants of the stags antlers gnawed off in some places, with hints of many battles fought and won with the showing of scars presented along the back of the furry beast. Tonka discerned that the small group of wolves had come across the struggling stag and were waiting for further orders. One of the bigger looking members glanced briefly at Tonka, eyes gleaning nothing except curiosity intermingled with caution and puzzlement. Seconds of a silent conversation passed between them, till it was broken by Tonka glancing at the elk with a worried expression. No creature should have a death prolonged. Even if it did mean an unfortunate death, it was better than watching the weak chest rise and fall uneasily. The white male seemed to be the alpha judging by the uneasy looks the other wolves shared between them as they took in the trespasser- Tonka, yet did not do anything without the approval of their leader. Flicking his tail once towards the elk, one of the albinos hunters since for the elk and quickly killed it, quick and nearly painless. Relaxing slightly, Tonka lowered his head and waited.

The alpha strolled over to him, eyes gazing calmly into his. "Introduce yourself, before we make any decisions."

And so, Tonka did, explaining how he had came to this part of the woods and hearing the heart of the beast falter. He mentioned his former pack being sent away, noting a twinge of something pass through the young wolf. The bright leader said nothing for a moment, then eyed Tonka once more.

"I think, if there is no other packs to take you in, we should be able to free a den space for you. You seem strong and noble, a good fit for the pack." The leader nodded to the other pack members with him and they started to lead him back to their territory. When Tonka turned to watch the alpha, he saw him praying by the elk.

Wagging his tail ever so slightly at that display of kindness, Tonka followed his new pack mates into a better life for himself.
