Biography
I was jerked awake by some pups wresting right outside my den. Their tiny snarls and snapping jaws pulled me from my daytime slumber. I rolled over, groaned but smiled when I saw my newest member to the collection. A beautiful ruby gleamed at me, as if it was telling the story of what happened last night.
I followed the fawns wet footprints down the hill. It was a beautiful creature, and I often followed them on my adventures. I emerged from the soft underbrush, and the mouth of a narrow tunnel. The fawn had veered away, and wandered back into the safety of the dark forest. I curiously stared into the tunnel, and thought I saw a glimpse of glittering stones. My heart fluttered in excitement and I entered the damp cave. It led me deep into the ground, but with each turn my eyes were greeted with gleaming gems strewn across the cavern walls. I eagerly followed the curves until I found a small room. It was filled with stunning gems, but a small ruby caught my eye. It was much smaller than the other precious items, but it shone brighter than the rest. I plucked it from the wall happily and went out the way I had come. As I left the tunnel, the moon caught the rubies eye and made it dance in the lunar light. I watched it for a few minutes until a cloud covered the moon. I snatched it up and trotted back into the woods. That cave was a beautiful place, with gorgeous gemstones. But as I found myself closer and closer to home, I knew I would never find it again.
