"The Dragon" || "The Serpent"

"Why do you bother me?" The beast asked, his white-spotted pelt of black whisped in the breeze like a shadowy cloak. His golden eyes were set upon the frame before him, so tantalizingly fragile and meek. The fear in its eyes what what he most enjoyed: that wide-eyed, paralyzing sort of terror that pleased him so.
He rose from his throne in the chamber of stone. His claws scraped against the ground with each footfall, uttering a noise that could only be mimicked by the sharpening of a blade. His lips were parted ever so slightly, releasing puffs of smoke that tainted the clear, cold air.
"I'm sorry, I failed you," the approacher stammered, frame hunching submissively to the side. Draco knew that it was but a well-scripted lie. On the other side of these stony walls were a fleet of others ready to strike, to which this mongrel before him belonged. The beast could hear their heartbeats with his acute hearing.
"That is a shame," Draco muttered then, stepping within the shadows of his dwelling. He inhaled deeply, sparks igniting within his gullet.
Where the wolf once stood was now a ball of black, hovering midair with blue and purple vibrations that whirled around impossibly fast. A whirring sound echoed for a few brief seconds, before a heavy, enormous thud met the stone ground.
The approacher turned to run down the cave hall, dashing forward with might that only the most fearful embody. He opened his mouth to call out to the others, unknowing that this breath would be his last.
A great dragon struck him down with violent ferocity. He was killed that second.
The dragon swiped his wings to throw the body from his halls and into the stagnant air ahead. Draco could hear the gasps and charge of his attackers headed down his chamber halls.
"Fools," the dragon cursed and extended his maw wide. A powerful, dragon-tongued screech followed, as did a whirlwind of flames from his jaws. The dragon shook his head as he listened to the agonizing cries of the fleet, burning at the mouth of his home. There were none left to step any further to challenge him, and the dragon stretched out his wings of black. Closing his eyes, it was but a few mere seconds before the wolf stood in place, gazing with disappointment ahead.
