"Salu.."
The female squirmed where she stood, having been purchased by this pack and brought in front of the Alphas. A red and white male with a black and white female sat in front of her, a brown male settled next to them.
"As you can probably tell, " The male, Burning Storms, spoke "our pack is lacking females. It would be a true shame if my mate here became the last one. So far, my own bloodline has been the majority in this pack, of course. Though another bloodline has been a part of our pack since the near the beginning."
The Alpha male nodded to the male next to him. He was clearly an elder, preparing for death script any season now. The male stepped forward.
"My name is Roast Wood, " the elder bowed his head a bit. "My mother was Winter Oak, daughter of Night Breeze the fifth. Night Breeze was a female with Melanism. Our pack has bred at least one female with Melanism for generations. My mother's sister, sadly, died with no heirs. My own sister recently passed away, leaving no pups of this pack. I am the last of my bloodline."
The new female twitched, already having an idea of what she was being asked.
The Alpha seemed to sense this and gave her an apologetic look.
"Think of it this way, " he said. "You won't only be saving one bloodline, but creating your own. Hopefully, one that will save other bloodlines that run through the veins of this pack for years to come."
Burning Storms stepped forward, pressing his nose against the female's forehead.
"From this day on, Salu, you'll be known as Winter Hearth. A safe haven for life and a mother for pups."
