His calm discipline was what caught MoietyÂÂ’s eye.
The Alphas of the two packs had spoken for hours beneath the crescent moon. The wolf (he had forgotten his old name) had stood beneath the pitch-dark shadow of a pine and watched, unblinking, until the conversation ended. He had been on guard that night, protecting his False Alpha. Ever dutiful, he had not moved a muscle nor let his focus stray.
He was slim, his coat sleek, every fiber of his being promising silent agility and power. Moiety had liked that, had liked that very much. He had, in fact, liked it so much so that in a hushed tone, He made a deal. He was willing to trade a sizeable amount of His hoard of mushrooms for this male.
The wolf with the forgotten name was not dumb. He knew he was being bartered for like a piece of meat. But he was worthless here, a low-ranking male with the potential for such greatness.
