No I completely get you. I've been having some bad luck in breeding as of recent, and using the items seem to "worsen" the pup qualities (I know it is likely personal bias, still infuriating)

Ghost Pack, Birth-3 Years:

Thanatos was born in the cold northern region of the world to a pack of snowy white pelts. Ghost pack, named for these wolves pelts and for the silent walks of its members. It was a strict, militaristic pack. At birth wolves were only given numbers. The higher the number, the more potential. Thanatos was a 2. Only the alpha's pup ranked a 1. At juvenile age, they fought to the death for a place in the pack.

Pup 2 was set to fight pup 1, as not even the alpha's pups were safe from this brutal tradition. Pup 2 slaughtered his opponent. With this, he was awarded a name: Thanatos. The son of the lead hunter had done well. He was a Ghost.

The alpha's female was bitter at the loss of her child. She had not been allowed to see a pup grow old for all of the years she was the alpha's mate. The pack saw her bloodline to be too weak. The alpha was ashamed. The alpha was cruel. He picked a new mate, one much younger than himself, and sent his wolves on a hunt. The prey was the former alpha's female.

Thanatos's father, who relished in such cruel traditions, forced his son along. And when the female was inevitably caught, the junior Thanatos was forced to kill her.

The young male snapped that night and fled his dark pack, heading south. As his final act before leaving, he left his father mangled. Thanatos doesn't know if he killed his father that night. He prays that he never encounters them again. He vows to be a better wolf than what he was raised to be. He has pushed onward as best as he can.
