You put a price on the wolf that you think is fair, someone else pays it, they own it and can do whatever they want.

If you are really selective about the packs they go to, message packs you like and ask them if they want the wolf for free.

Eci, if there was more worth to them then maybe I'd consider it, but seeing that most of them are just exclusive cosmetics, my moral compass still tells me its not worth retiring wolves so... yeah, I just use mush if I ever need anything from the shop, cosmetics arent too important for me =D

I only keep the wolves I really like or have high rarity. I got a winer pelt and a quasar pelt from wolf party once

personally I spent most of that 100 mush when I started on food cuz I couldn't get enough from explore to support my pack
but yeah, I get that the buyer can do what they like once their sold. It just bothers me, I just find it kinda wasteful, specially if the wolf has over 30 talents. Some people would gladly take a wolf like that yk

Kycantina, same, lmao.

Maybe I'm the wrong person to talk to though because I have a literal bone farm lol

09:03:24
If I get quests that need me to set some wolves free, I'll just get them from the Free Range rather than the Trading Post because I know they dont belong to anyone so its a bit less sad somehow
 Ecifircas
09:03:06
Heather, I feel you. I wouldn't retire wolves either if there wasn't a currency incentive. I think bones are too useful to pass up so I keep retiring wolves.
 kycantina
09:02:50 ky
naw because if they want fancy wolves they can explore, save, and pay fancy wolf prices. I had a high T girl like two days into the game
 Rogue Wildfires
09:02:16 Mac and Cheese
I'm pretty sure new packs get 100 mush to start off with. I think they can afford it
 Ecifircas
09:02:08
I think that's a very kind thing to do but unfortunately, once they're sold, the new owners can do whatever they'd like with them. Some packs find more use for the bone currency than mush so they'll spend 5 mush on a wolf to retire them for a bone.

I know this sounds a bit weird but I find retiring wolves a bit sad, at most I'll just make them leave my pack so they can roam around free-range, they might not be in my pack anymore but at least they're living their lives elsewhere in the game world

or it might just me being being oversentimental idk qwq
 Rushing River Tribe
09:01:37 Carrie/River
like I get it, but idk guess I just try to be considerate of the packs starting out that might want them but can't afford anything over 10-15 mush
 Rushing River Tribe
09:00:19 Carrie/River
I sell them at 5 mush so starting packs or new players can afford them
 Ecifircas
09:00:07
Rushing River Tribe, because when you put a wolf up for sale, you're saying 'okay, pay this and you can do whatever you want.' Clearly, you don't find use for the wolf either if you sell it.

I retire wolves all the time. Once you sell it, it's not yours to worry about - you've been paid off not to bother what happens to the pixels.

Carrie-
Because there are way too many wolves in the game already.
 kycantina
08:59:37 ky
Rushing, most wolves under 5 mush get retired, if you don't want that to happen price them higher so it's less worth it
 Rushing River Tribe
08:58:07 Carrie/River
can someone explain why people will buy a perfectly good wolf just to retire them??
Like I get that you get bones for them, but they were likely for sale cuz the breeder didn't just want to retire them. Someone on here might've liked to have that wolf as part of their pack, instead of just throwing them away.
yes for some 41 talents isn't enough, but for others that could be the boost they need to get their breeding program started.
I just don't get it, sorry for the mini rant, just wanted to express my confusion as to why people feel the need to do this <_>

Character Description
Biography
A bone chilling, howling, wind, raged across the snow covered mountains. The black night sky wasn't even visible. Curled up against the base of a dead tree, layed a small, cream and black wolf pup, all alone in the unforgiving Appalachian mountains. The wolf pup had been abandoned by her pack for bring the runt of the litter, and rather than teaching her how to grow strong, they left her for mother nature to deal with. The small pup had cried herself to sleep every night, her tears freezing as they fell down her face. Her tail, paws, and nose had all become numb due to the cold. She was not old enough to hunt, so she couldn't go out and find food, she was slowly starving to death. She hadn't even been given a name yet. About a week had passed and the pup had given up hope of being saved, now she wished death would come and take her away. The soft crunching of snow could be heard over the wind. The pup looked up and saw an white and black figure walking her way, had death sent one of his angels, she thought and closed her eyes, ready for it to be over. The crunching had come right up to her. A gasp caused the pup to open her eyes, she whimpered at the movement. Something warm grabbed her by her scruff and the pup was pulled up out of the snow.

The next time the pup opened her eyes, she was no longer in the snow. "Am I dead?" The pup said in a hoarse whisper. A thought struck the pup and for the first time in a long time, she realized she wasn't cold anymore. "No my dear, you are not dead." Said a soft, voice. The pup looked around and noticed she was in a cave with a white female wolf curled around her. The wolf licked the top of the pups head and whispered. "Never again will you be alone. I will raise you, and nurture you, until you reach the full potential you have hidden inside you. I am called Luminosa, what do they call you?" The white female asked the small pup. "I do not have a name." The small pup said, looking up at her savior. The female wolf thought for a second, a kind smile crossed her face. "Then I shall give you a name. From now on you will be called.. Mackinnon."

A few years had since passed and Mackinnon had grown into a strong, beautiful wolf. Luminosa had taken her under her wing with the intent on making Mackinnon alpha and trained her every day. Mackinnon had made a promise that no other wolf stood a chance at gaining the alpha title. She quickly rose to beta status and on her sixth birthday, a large ceremony was held. Adorned with the pelt of a snow hare and the skull of a bear, Mackinnon was given the title of alpha female. The new alpha looked over to her mentor and gave her a deep bow, she owed everything to Luminosa and would never forget her kindness. Upholding tradition, Mackinnon let out a bellowing howl, announcing her new title. Soon after, everyone in the pack joined in. A chorus of howls filled the forest, celebrating the announcement of a new alpha, and a new beginning.

Personality
Mackinnon is a stubborn female which aided her immensely when Luminosa was training her up to step into the alpha female role. Being a stubborn wolf meant Mackinnon was not giving up easily despite leaving her sides open for attack. She's not the motherly type and tolerates new pup pack members but until they reach juvenile age she doesn't have anything to do with them until they are to be trained.

Preferences
Mackinnon prefers to have the pups leave her alone and in turn she leaves them alone. If they harass her, she will almost always be seen chasing the little rascals off for lerstering her. She doesn't chase them out of pack territory purely because she knows they're needed. Eurebon is her favourite pup and she cannot wait to train the wickedly annoying pup to step up as alpha due to her significant Surpassing Valor boost.

Special Skills
Mackinnon doesn't have any particular skill set. She's a plain old wolf who has simply refined what she was born with through training with Luminosa. She's lucky that Luminosa even found her out in the snowdrift that fateful night so she purely just enjoys life at its fullest. Her aim is to make Luminosa proud and that, she has done time and time again.
