Biography
'Mother, are you fine today?'
Mudspots came in into the herb den and touched her mother's nose. Red Stripe tried to answer, but a coughing fit took over
and she lost her energy again. Mudspots looked worryingly at her.
'Your nose is dry, and that coughing is only getting worse'. Mudspots again scanned over all the leaves. She took out the borage leaves and chewed them into a pulp. Then the Herb Wolf spat them out and gave them to Red Stripe. Red Stripe looked at her pointedly.
'Yes I know I am giving them to you a hundredth time. And yes, I know they are sour', added Mudspots after Red Stripe opened her mouth to say something. She shut it straight away and reluctantly swallowed the chewed borage leaves. Yuck!
Then another black and white wolf came in. It was Husky.
'Are you alright mother?', whined Husky and laid down beside Red Stripe. Red Stripe nodded bravely and again coughed violently. As if in answer, another cough sounded from across the clearing. Mudspots perked her ears in trouble.
'Don't worry sis, that is just Whitestorm', said Husky asurringly, 'He was coughing like that for two days now'.
Mudspots gaped at Husky.
'He has the exact same cough as mother', exclaimed Mudspots and ran towards the leader. Red Stripe sighed. She hates it when she is sick. After a while, the bothered Herb Wolf was running back.
'Husky! Quick get away from mother!'
'Why? I will never leave mother in this state', Husky said defiantly.
'Well you have to', Mudspots stubbornly went on, 'I think she might have a disease that could pass from one wolf to another'.
Husky gasped and undecidedly half rose on her paws.
'Husky, you have to go', whispered Red Stripe. The amount of coughing she went through has taken away her voice temporarily. 'I don't want you to be sick'. Red Stripe again coughed and blood spluttered out of her mouth.
'MOTHER!', shrieked Husky.
'Red Stripe!', simultaneously Mudspots and Whitestorm (who was trailing behind the Herb Wolf) exclaimed.
Red Stripe felt weak. Very weak. Something in her heart told her, that she is to be gone. Red Stripe nudged Husky's whit forepaw. 'Goodbye my darling', she whispered hoarsely, 'Tell Mudspots that I am proud of her. Tell everybody, that I'm glad I knew them'.
'Mother', tearily answered Husky. Red Stripe out of the corner of her eye saw Mudspots frantically looking through all the herbs. Whitestorm came up to his sister. He bowed his head towards her and whispered 'Goodbye, my beloved sister'.
'Whitestorm', was all that Red Stripe managed to reply when another coughing fit started. Red Stripe knew, it would be her last. At the last moment Beetle came rushing in. He gaped at the black she-wolf. Red Stripe smiled weakly at him. He was her most favourite grand-son. She closed her eyes, and she was gone.
