Warm rays shine into Bloom's elegant face. She closed her eyes enjoying the warmth and the noise of the river trickling nearby. 'I CAUGHT IT! I CAUGHT IT'! The cries made Bloom jump and she glared angrily at the source of the noise. It was Brownpelt jumping around a carcass of a rabbit, yelping and howling happily. Whitestorm stared wide-eyed at Brownpelt.
'With admiration, not jealousy or hatred', Bloom noticed and snapped at Brownpelt 'Keep it quiet! Or you'll scare the other prey around us, or attract some unwelcome guest who would love a bite of your rabbit'. Brownpelt lowered her eyes. 'Sorry Bloom. I won't get this excited again, I promise'. But the excitement inside her did not quiet down just yet. Brownpelt looked up at Bloom with shiny eyes and her tongue lolled aside. 'But that was a great catch, wasn't it? Right Whitestorm'? The white wolf nodded enthusiastically and barked 'It was thrilling! First she was there and BAM! The rabbit was dead! You were brilliant Brownpelt!' He added lovingly and Brownpelt smiled at him. Bloom just rolled her eyes and told them to move on and ordered them to hurry to the camp with prey. The two young wolves bounded happily away, racing each other. Bloom trotted behind them and couldn't stop feeling proud for the future leaders.
A flash of white fur caught her eye. Bloom swiveled her head around. She spotted a faint white silhouette sitting under an old oak tree. 'That's weird, how did Whitestorm get here so fast? He was wolf-lengths away from me just a moment ago', Bloom puzzled as she studied the presence closer. The 'presence' just watched Bloom kindly with its ice-blue eyes, which reminded Bloom of Whitestorm except they were brighter in colour. Bloom was stricken when a sudden realisation washed over her.Is that..... 'Pupclaw?'Bloom managed to choke out. The spirit smiled warmly and faded alongside the sudden gush of the wind. The wind calmed down after a moment and instead and gentle and soothing wind blew over Bloom's ears. It whispered 'I forgive you, and will always love you as my own cub'. Bloom felt tears well in her eyes and she whispered gratefully back, 'Thank you'.
