Biography
My name is Raana. I was born early winter, the time where prey begins to hide in safe warm burrows and wolves go hungry. When the cold is enough to kill even strong wolves. In short, I was born in a dark time, and quite fittingly, my life started in a dark and tragic way.
There were three of us, born to Aya of this pack. Three helpless black bundles of life, and not so long later my brother and sister were condemned to be cast out. There was no room for them in the pack: they were 'weak and lacked promise', as our alpha Aran put it. I still sometimes struggle not to feel bitterness towards her; I've taught myself that it's useless to hold grudges because they keep you from moving forward in life, but in some cases it's easier said than done.
On the other paw, I was more 'fascinating' than my siblings; I was born with vitiligo, a birth defect that will cause my fur to become patchy with white spots as I get older. Harmless, except it saved my life.
Defects are valuable, as I've learned. It's basically the only reason why I'm still in the pack, I think, despite what my packmates say. They can say what they want, but that's why Aran kept me in the first place.
So at a very young age, I've lost my littermates, and my mother's position in the pack was threatened; she didn't bring healthy enough wolves for our pack. A while later, she left our pack, but as a result from before, my mother became an empty shell of herself. Thankfully, she has recovered enough to to regain the liveliness she had before we were born, but I remember that I have tried to comfort her, but I heard her cry out at night when she thought I was asleep, grieving for all of our tragedies. She wasn't able to care for me properly because of her grief, so I was cared for by my mother's friend, a wonderful wolf named Sheloa who also had pups. I owe her and my mother my life.
As for me, I try to forge on ahead and focus on creating a happier future. It's hard, yes, and there are many times where I wish I can just go back in time and change things, or wake up and realize it was all a bad dream, but life doesn't work like that. I'm young, but other wolves say I'm mature beyond my years... Funny how tragedy can either crush you or make you mature. I take pride in my maturity, but struggle with my defect; not because I'm different, but it was what kept me from almost certain death and my siblings from being alive today. I have no patience for ones who put others down because they're not 'perfect' in their eyes; my life so far has been all about that. And I understand more about other wolves--how they feel, their personality, more than many wolves. Maybe because of my mother.
I will not be crushed easily anymore. I am strong. I am brave. I am Raana.

Raana is a very special wolf. Instead of breaking down because of her hard, difficult life, she has become a mature, wise, and empathetic wolf. She has the determination of her grandmother, Mala, and the kindness of her mother, Aya. Most of her packmates love and respect her.
Now, as the newly appointed alpha, she has to shoulder some new responsibilities. Luckily, she knows she can succeed!
