Oh, it's you, the wolf Aran was talking to. I suppose she sent you here, hasn't she? Well, she knows I don't like to just sit around talking, but I suppose since you're here now and so curious, I'll talk for a few moments. Thanks, Aran.
I am Faolan, named after a wolf in some book series called... I think it's called Wolves of the Pack, or... no, Wolves of the Beyond, that was it. By a human named Kathryn Lasky, if I remember correctly. But I don't care about my namesake so much; sure, I'm honored to be the holder of this name, but it doesn't define me. I am nothing like the Faolan in the books.
Some of my packmates, the ones who knew me the longest, call me "Grumpy," daring even to say that in my face. I can't deny it; I know I'm not exactly your sunshine and rainbows kind of wolf, and that suits me fine. It just shows, though, that I'm not very intimidating to them either; Mala once daringly said that I was fierce to wolves outside of my pack, but gentler to my packmates. As if! I am fierce through and through! But I suppose my packmates get a little less of my strict treatment...
Yes, I'm the stricter alpha of the pack. I don't like when my wolves dance over the thin lines of breaking the rules and not breaking them, and I will discipline them if I see fit. My mate Aran is the gentler one, the one who would join in the rough-and-tumble games the others sometimes like to play, no matter their age. I usually am fine with watching. Call me dull, call me a loner, but this is who I am.
In a way, I still have a loner personality. It was Aran who wanted to form a pack, after meeting so many in our early days. And as long as she is alpha, I am happy to rule by her side. Without her, I wouldn't have my other half, much less the part of me who enjoys pack life.
So, who am I? I suppose only I truly know...
On that note, I have probably given you my longest speech I've given this moon. Go now to the others, who like chattering away more than me, and leave this older wolf in peace.
