Two sides of a coin. Dawn and dusk. Positive and negative. Opposites, yet inseparable.
Elena and Lena. Unable to have one without the other. Born to the same litter, they were best of friends. Where one went, the other always followed. Elena, the bubbly sister, with a fiery personality and a flirty streak. Lena, the soft spoken sister, preferring solitude and contemplation rather than company and impulses. Though she never protests Elena's company.
As pups they were both attached at the hips. Living in the mountains with their parents, an older sister, a brother-in-law and an older niece, life seemed to be at its best. They spent the days playing in the various streams, hunting tiny fish and just being pups. But as these stories always go, tragedy strikes.
One of the rare mornings Lena and Elena were spending learning the ways of the wolf, a landslide swept the mountain. With her father and brother in-law at the time, The pups seemed sure to be caught up in the turmoil. But with quick thinking, their father and brother in-law tossed the pups out of the way before disappearing into rubble.
Elena landed safely. Lena did not. Taking a short tumble into unknown territory, the dark pup became lost. Without her sister, who normally was her guide, she was hopelessly lost. It would be months before being reunited again, with Lena being more oddly reclusive - even towards her best friend.

Lena's mother decided to train her and Elena in medicine. Elena did not take to it as well as Lena did, however. The quieter sister had a more similar personality to that of her mother, and her firm determination caused her to excel in her training.
