Frosted Grace had always possessed a military edge. A coldness, a ruthless chill that no one dared touch. They said she was in a war, they said she was adopted by a soldier, and she watched him die. But no one knows for sure. No one... has every gotten that close.
Chosen because of her wit and cunning to be deputy of the pack Frosted walked with an iron paw, not even the bright eyed whimpering of puppies could cool her heat. No one stepped out of line.
She didn't play, she didn't smile, she bit to injure if someone took even a snag of her food from the elk they brought down.
Inside she wondered if it was contentment or loneliness she felt, inside she wondered if anyone would dare come close, break past her walls and touch her. Treat her as she was meant to be treated, as she once was.
When the city slicker Oppurtunity walked into the pack one day, purchased for his lovely coat, she glowered at him. Frustrated with his antics, she thought he would be another frustration for her to deal with.
She could never be more wrong.

Frosted Grace is like the earth, melting, warming, breathing after winter's hold is slowly relinquished. She reminds me of the sludge of mud and water and grit, mother nature washing away the cold, shrugging winter's coat off of her shoulders, it landing in a pile of dust.
