Character Description
Biography
A set of dust-covered, honey-brown paws tore furiously into the soft, silty dirt, slowly widening the hole into a place to call home. Fortunately, there had already been an impression in the hill when the pretty golden-brown female attached to the paws had started. Adelaide was her name. But the work was still labourious, and the female was panting in the sweltering sunlight. I'm pregnant, for god's sake! I shouldn't be doing this work, she fumed silently. But truly, she didn't mind it. She quite liked the work, even in her pregnant state. Still, she found herself having to take frequent breaks, her flanks heaving.

Shortly, Adelaide found herself doing exactly that. She slunk away from the gradually-forming den. She'd soon make it her own. And then my pups will make it their own, she thought with a soft smile. But for now, a break was required. She gingerly set herself down in the shade of a large oak tree, her creamy coat covered in dust. Her tongue lolled out the side of her gaping jaws as she panted.
"Where's the useless wolf I call my mate when I need him?" She huffed out loud to herself, her nose wrinkled. She didn't mean it, though. Eden was a sweetheart, and though he liked to stray and be a complete idiot sometimes, he was useful. And though she didn't always like to admit it, her Eddie held her heart in his paws. He brought out her playful side.

Still, if she listened, Adelaide could here the sound of her mate crashing about, playing with who knew what. Honestly, I can't take him anywhere, she scoffed. Send him to get prey and he'd go galumphing after some insect. Ask him to held dig out the den and he'd get distracted by a damn leaf. She simultaneously loved and hated that about him. On one paw, he sometimes hindered more than he helped. On the other paw, he was always so upbeat and a complete oddball. And he was her oddball.

Suddenly, her ears perked as she heard the squeak of whatever small animal Eden had caught. The honey-coloured she-wolf clambered to her paws, assuming Eden would return momentarily with food, with the grace of a newborn giraffe. Hey, she's pregnant. You can't judge her. Then she heard her mate's voice as he continued crashing around the place. Her ears flicked back as she felt her stomach growl. Nevermind that she'd eaten not long ago - she was eating for many!
"Eden! Knock it off and come help me build this damn den!" She barked. And bring me some food!, she added mentally. Abruptly, all the ruckus halted and she heard her mates voice. Her tail swayed slightly at his promise of food. "About time," the female scoffed.

Soon enough, her handsome Eddie emerged from the bushes, a limb rabbit hanging from his jaws. Adelaide's tail wiggled and she trotted over. Gently, she lowered her head and booped her nose into his scruff. It amused her that he was a small wolf compared to her.
"And these are the reasons why I keep you around," she teased, her voice somewhat muffled by the male's fur, though her cheery voice and wagging tail betrayed her feelings. Still, she backed up a step and her mouth practically watered as she eyed the rabbit. But her eyes landed on the blossoming head of a red rose poking out from behind the limp carcass of the rabbit. Her ears flicked back and beneath the soft, cream-coloured fur of her cheeks, they heated. "You're sweet," she said quietly, nudging her nose into the male's brownish fur again. Gingerly, she took the rose and the small mammal and tore the latter in half. Well, nearly in half. Hey, she had pups to feed! "Your turn to dig," she hummed happily with a flick of her tail as she slid back down onto her stomach and wolfed down her portion of the rabbit.
