Biography
Odyssey gripped the chain tighter and yanked. It wouldn't budge. He was tired and covered in blackish blood. Sighing, he gave up and dropped the link of metal. Moaning zombies crowded around him as a hoarde passed by, but none attacked. It wasn't the brainless zombies he was afraid of, it was the ruthless human packs that swept the countryside, taking in survivors and killing them if they refused. Ode kept his eye out for any non-zombies as he tried snapping the chain again. No luck.
At this point, sweat was rolling down his forehead. Ode leaned back against the gravestone he was shackled to and closed his eyes. He thought of happier times, before the apocalypse. He remembered his family afterwards, abandoning him when he was only seven years old because of his strange gift. They thought he was one of them, a zombie, as the the zombies treated the human boy like one of their own. 8 Years had past since the zombie virus was released by the Government, as a 'Population Control' they called it. Sadly, the humans revolted and the world ended up dying. It was only him, a few survivers, and the walking dead. How fun.
A weight on his chest woke Ode up from his thoughts, and he looked down to find a little chestnut rabbit sitting there. Oh well - a zombie rabbit. It's dead eyes stared into the boy's as it sat up on his hind legs. It's nose twitched, and Ode tried not to smile. The little thing was adorable, even with blood matting its fur, and bones sticking out of it's petite body. He carefully picked up the furball and sat it on the ground. The rabbit simply stayed there, looking forward at the boy, nose and half an ear twitching.
"Hi little fella" Ode whispered, not expecting a reply. The rabbit perked its ears and Ode could swear he heard a faint hello whisper in the back of his mind. The boy shook his head...he must be hallucinating, Ode thought.
"Please tell me that wasn't you" Ode replied to the rabbit, feeling stupid for talking to an animal in the first place.
Yes, it was me, A voice whispered once more in his mind.
"Nope, nope, nope. I must be finally insane" Ode laughed, wide-eyed and terrified.
The rabbit looked at him blankly, then turned and hopped off without saying anything more.
Hours had passed since the mind-speaking incident, and Ode was was beginning to believe he wasn't quite as sane as he thought he was. His left wrist was bloodied and sore, from trying to get the cuff off. Exhaustion was slowly creeping into Ode's distressed thoughts, and he found himself on the verge of passing out from fatigue. In the last few minutes of being awake, Odyssey swore he could see the swift black outline of a raven sitting atop a tombstone in front of him, but he passed it off as his imagination and drifted off to sleep.
Ode woke up to something nudging his arm. Groggily, he swiped at the creature, hoping to get more sleep.
Its me you idiot
There it was again. That faint voice in his head. Ode shuffled over so he could see the undead rabbit. "We ought to stop meeting like this". The rabbit didn't reply, it just hopped away.
"Hey!" Ode shouted. Even though it was a undead animal, it was better than no company at all.
Follow me... it whispered.
"I can't, I-" Ode was in the middle of gestering to his situation with the shackle, but he had found the chain snapped in two.
"How?" was the only thing he could manage to say, as he inspected the broken link with confusion.
It doesn't matter. All that matters now is that your free, isnt that right?
Ode nodded and stood, shaking the braken and dirt off his black cargo pants. He stretched, ignoring the ache in his muscles from being still for so long.
"So where to, Rodger?" Ode smiled at his joke. And the rabbit glared at him before hopping away, wanting Ode to follow
