Biography
Taygeta opens her eyes slowly and yawns. She is laying on a rock on the bank of an ice cold stream. She gets up slowly, shaking the thin layer of snow of her shoulders. As the snow falls to her feet, her black coat comes into view. She gives one last shake on anyone looking can see her brindle stripes and leopard spots. The sun shines down between the trees and illuminates her pelt. She looks akin to an angel.
She yawns again and looks around, quickly checking for any threats, before peering down at the stream below her. She can see fish swiftly moving downstream. She licks her lips looking at the trout. Suddenly, the water parts in a large circle, large enough for a bear to fit in. The unlucky fish flop desperately at the bottom of the hole Taygeta made. She jumps into the hole, a wall of water about her height surround her. She lazily grabs a few fish in her mouth and jumps back to land. As soon as she drops the fish, she drops her concentration on the water and the stream returns to flowing normally.
As Taygeta begins eating, her ears pick up the sound of paws on the cold dirt behind her. She grins and spins around, she comes face to face with Arcturus. The male wolf has his tail lowered, swinging back and forth excitedly. On his face is a huge wolf smile. She steps forwards and nuzzles her mate. He returns the gesture. "Ready for today?" He asks. "Born ready," Taygeta mumbles into his fur.
Another wolf pads up behind the couple and clears his throat to gain their attention. It's Epsilon, Taygeta's sister. "Taygeta," He says with respect, nodding at the she-wolf, "Arcturus", he says with a curt nod in the direction of the male. He speaks with the same level of respect, but there is a twinge of resentment in his word. "It's time." With that, he turns around and motions with his tail for the pair to follow. They do.
Epsilon lead them back to the pack's den. Epsilon silently enters the den and steps off to the side. On either side of the den, there is a line of wolves, pack members, waiting for the pair's arrival. When they enter, the group of wolves grow quite and one by one they bow. Taygeta's heart begins to beat faster with excitement. She looks over at Arcturus, he has a stoic look on his face, but his eyes give away the excitement. At the far end of the den sit the Alphas, Orion and Frosted Ash. Taygeta and Arcturus begin walking towards the alphas. They are ready to become Alphas.
At the back of the den, behind the small crowd of wolves sits a black and white she-wolf that no one seems to notice. Her coat glows in an almost ghost like fashion. Her eyes follow Taygeta as she approaches the alphas. She smiles sadly as she watches her daughter take a bow before Frosted Ash. She watched proudly as her daughter is made an alpha. The pack begins howling and Fallen Ash howls with them, before fading and disappearing with one last look at her beautiful daughter.
