'Good. Light-bringer. Harmoniser.'
These were the things I was taught to be.
'Evil. Dark-seeker. Murderer.'
These were the things I *wanted* to be.

I remember when I would accompany my previous pack on expeditions as a pup; I loved and hated it. I hated how sickeningly sweet and empathetic my elders were, saving everything they could left and right and refusing to raid any enemy pack's territory we came across.
I loved it because it allowed me to indulge in my secret love for violence.

I watched fights with an intensity they had never seen before. I licked my lips every time they drew blood from another creature, whether it be prey, predator, or even kin.
The sight of blood excited me beyond belief, it gave me an estatic, euphoric feeling that I couldn't describe at the time. It made my heart pound with a peculiar elation.
In short, I l o v e d it.
But the others? Hated it. Resented it, and in turn resented me whenever my tail began to wag when we came across something we had to kill.
They wished for a world where bloody combat was no more. I wished the opposite.

Those petty, goody-two-shoes Lightbringers. Those sickening, cutesy wolves with no guts of their own. They tried to 'fix me'. They tried to 'help me'. They tried to 'stop me'.
Tried.

One lonely day, I had enough.

My rebellious revenge was sweet. An older female had recently given birth to her litter, however, she was so old that it was probably going to be her last.
So, I slaughtered them all. I was merciless. I revelled in their terrified screeches. I savoured the feeling of my claws digging into their small frames and the metallic taste of their blood.
Oh, how they despised me then. The mother screamed and cried, but I just laughed manianically, my pitch-black, menalistic pelt stained with her children's blood. I knew my grin would haunt her nightmares for the rest of her short, dreadful existence.
After this, I managed to blend with the shadows of that fateful night, and made my swift escape, my lithe frame aiding me in this task. I wasn't about to be struck down by that bright, prissy pack.

Then, a realisation hit me:
I was finally free.
For days I couldn't stop laughing. I was so overjoyed with my victorious success, and I decided to put my new life on the right track.
I lived as a lone wolf for moons, slaughtering anything that dared come close to me. I made a reputation for myself as the craziest wolf in the realm, and I loved every single second.

Unfortunately, this quickly became boring.
I met another pack on my travels one day. Despite their initial disapproval, they seemed to be different from the others who had crossed me. I remember my fur bristling with seething anger at this inner conflict - it wasn't warranted, invited or necessary! I screamed at myself to come back to my senses, but it just wouldn't work.
I ended up joining this pack, and now, this is my home. For now.

There are more wolves in this pack like me. Except one. Nyx. She reminds me of my previous fail for a pack.
I can deal with it, though.

This pack has granted me safety and freedom, and for that I am grateful. They still allow my ways to pass with little quarrel. How long this will last, I am unsure.
Until then, I will still be known as the most insane wolf in the realm, for my name is Obscura; pray that you never meet me.
