Herd: Diverged

Every year, from about February to the End of May, the Plains Herd spends the foaling seasons in the large valley in the mountains known simply as North Valley. This year wasn't going to be any different for them, they make the same journey every year to the Valley, their Lead Stallion and Lead Mare working together every year to ensure their safety.

Unfortunately, the fates decided things would go differently. About half way through their journey, a terribly rockslide separated the Herd from its Lead Stallion, forcing the herd to move on towards the valley without any assurance their Lead Stallion was even still alive.

Its been months now, with no sign of hide or hair of him, and with May setting into the valley, the Bachelor Bands are arriving, their intent clear. While there are other herds in the Valley, the Plains herd is the only one without a Lead Stallion to protect them. A small herd with only a Lead Mare at their helm is ripe for the picking from the Bachelor Stallions.

With New Foals and Yearlings to protect, the mares will have to decide, do they wait in hopes that their Lead Stallion is still alive and will arrive to take them back? Or do they decide to accept a new stallion in as their Lead, so at least they'll have protection as the warm weather draws in, bringing with it the last few foals and more dangers to the herds.

The Roleplay Rules
Follow all of Eve's and WPs Rules

1. Please be Active. Rps are only successful if people stay active.

2. Semi-Literacy is the Minimum Requirement for this Rp. Which means full paragraphs for Sign Ups where required and for Rp Posts.

3. Stock Images and Artwork are allowed to be used alongside Description Appearances, HOWEVER, you Must follow WP's Rules to Use Images.

4. When I check forms, I check Images first, so if I tell you to fix your images, this doesn't automatically mean your accepted. Please put the duplicate number in your form, but hide it.

5. Currently I do not have a Maximum amount of Characters allowed. However, do not take on more than you can handle, and leave spots for others too.

6. Read Everything. I'm trying too keep things as short and simple as possible. So do your part and make sure you read all of it.

7. We are somewhere between Semi-Realistic and Realistic in this Rp. Some stallions might be a threat to newly born foals, while others might not be.
7. Orphaned foals are allowed, but they cannot be orphaned for more than a few days. All the foals are, at maximum about 3 months old and still reliant on their mother's milk. So anything past a few days would likely leave them too weak to do anything. You can only have One orphaned character at the start of the Rp.

8. Reservations will only last 3 Days. I will allow for 1 Extension, so long as you ask for it before the 3 days expires. Once it fully expires, the spot will be reopened.

9. ALL of the Mares in the Plains Herd who are 4 And Older Will either have had their Foals within the last few months or will have them within the next couple of weeks. I will not be accepting any mares into the herd who wont be having foals.

10. If you've read everything, please put your favorite Horse from Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron in the Other Section of your Form.

11. When Making a Foal that Isn't an Orphaned Foal you Must Find a Mother for them First!

12. Have fun!

The Herd Rules
1. Stick together. Do not run or wander off, especially not alone. If you need to move away from the herd for anything, don't go alone.
2. Foal close to the herd so that we can keep you guarded and safe.
3. Treat all stallions, right now, with Caution. If any are getting close to the herd, be sure to alert either the Lead or Deputy Mare.
4. All foals and yearlings are too be protected.

The Plains Herd

The Plains herd is a smaller herd, of about 5-7 Adult Mares, maximum, plus their yearlings and foals. They've, up until now, have been lead by a singular Lead Stallion, and his aging Lieutenat who, unfortunately, passed away this year from old age, and have lived relatively easy lives by horse standards. They spend 3/4's of the year in the plains and forest South of the Mountains, and then move to the North Valley for Foaling season from February to the End of May.

There aren't many threats in the North Valley at the beginning of the Foaling seasons, but as the temperatures warm a few predators always make their way in. This includes the one resident Mountain Lion who lives on a Mountain Nearby, but only ever seems to enter the Valley periodically. The main threat, though, as May sets in, is the Pack of Wolves that patrol the Southern Range [where the herd lives most of the year] and through the Mountains to include the North Valley. They know most of the foals are born by then, and can be easy meals with the right tactics. However, they rarely show up before may because they have better hunting areas during the colder months.

With it now being May, all but one or two of the mares will have given birth already to their foals. Those mares will now have to decide to either wait and see if their Lead Stallion returns and mate with him, or accept a new Stallion instead.

The Herd Hierarchy

Lead Stallion
Lead Mare
Lieutenant
Deputy Mare
Herd Mares
Yearlings
Foals

All foals will be 3 Months or less in Age, whereas Yearlings will all be about a year in age, with the previous year's yearlings already being pushed out.

The Lieutenant was the former Lead Stallion before the current one took over. Since he was an older stallion and no threat to the new one, the LS let him stay as the Lieutenant and continue covering mares who the LS dedicated himself to his Lead Mare. Unfortunately, the old Lieutenant Passed this year during the Winter. All Foals, with exceptions of mares who joined pregnant and the Lead Mare, will be this Lieutenants Foals. Eventually, the LS will find and choose another Lieutenant.

This is Now Open!

The previous Lieutenant was a Silver Amber Champagne Paint Stallion. I'm not going to give him a specific genetic paint marking, so just mark it as any paint markings are acceptable, this does not include appaloosa. This makes it so that there could be a wide variety in his foals, especially depending on what the mom's genetics are.

Herd: Plains Herd

Rank: Lead Stallion
Desired Rank: Reached

Appearance: mighty-keegan-friesian-stock-by-larissaallen-d2136fv-fullview.jpg
[credit goes to LarissaAllen on da]

Ouray is an imposing figure, towering at a remarkable height of 18.2 hands. He has a commanding presence emphasized by his long, robust legs. His physique is muscular, characterized by sharply defined features that offer his face a strikingly chiseled appearance, almost appearing sunken due to their pronounced definition. His overall body is robust and solid, with a stocky build that predominantly showcases his well-developed muscles, particularly in his legs and chest, which serve as the primary sources of his strength.

Despite his height and muscular physique, it's his captivating complexion that truly catches the eye. While one might argue that his overall appearance isn't particularly exceptional, it's his personality that truly sets him apart. His coat is uniformly black, a striking monochrome canvas upon which his character is painted. His mane and tail, though slightly darker than his coat, maintain this seamless black theme. The focal point of color in his appearance lies in his eyes, which are a deep and captivating hazel brown. Everything else about him, however, adheres to this single-color palette. The only glimmer of vibrancy in his aesthetic comes from his hooves, which boast a warm and inviting light tan hue.

In terms of his coat, it affords him a degree of stealth during the night, allowing him to seamlessly blend into the darkness. In essence, Ouray's appearance, while not flashy, is certainly a captivating blend of strength, simplicity, and a hint of mystery. When it comes to scars, the stallion also possesses several. Given his age and experience, it is clear that he has faced several challenges, threats, and opponents in the past, leading to several scars ranging in both width and depth scattered across his body.

Personality:
Gentle yet Stern || Composed || Sometimes Immature || Separates Work from Play || Team Player || Social || Confident || Dutiful || Resilient || Stubborn || Selfless || Mannered and Wise || Respectful || Encouraging ||

Ouray is a gentle giant with a stern, yet balanced personality. Known for his peaceful demeanor and composed nature, you won't find him entangled in arguments or physical conflicts. unless otherwise needed. However, his behavior can sometimes come across as a touch immature, as he enjoys spending time playing with the younger foals. In his eyes, this playfulness contributes to building their characters, reminding others that just because he's the leader doesn't mean he must carry a perpetual air of seriousness. His commitment to the herd extends to nurturing the younger generation, instilling valuable lessons along the way.

Describing himself as an ambivert, Ouray possesses a versatile disposition. There are times when he's inclined to engage in conversation, and there are moments when he yearns for solitude. Nevertheless, regardless of his mood, he never shies away from the company of others, readily welcoming them into his world.

One of Ouray's most remarkable qualities is his innate understanding of when to prioritize responsibilities. Given the opportunity, he indulges in leisure activities, often sharing jokes and remaining extroverted. However, when danger looms on the horizon, a transformation occurs within him. He becomes entirely selfless, willing to put himself in harm's way to safeguard his herd members. He becomes resilient and a force to reckon with, not backing down until either himself or his opponent is upon the ground.

Wisdom and good manners define Ouray's character. He holds deep respect for every member of the herd and readily places his trust in them. He actively encourages open communication, fostering an environment where everyone's opinions are valued, and their voices heard. Compared to the lead mare, he tends to be more easygoing and free-spirited, offering a refreshing contrast in the herd's dynamics. However, when the situation demands it, Ouray can swiftly adopt a stoic and fiercely protective stance, displaying his unwavering dedication to the welfare of the herd. Do not take him for an easy individual, as he has the ability to be every bit as strict and stern as another.

Crush: His Lead Mare
Mate: His Beloved Saga

Kin:
Selene [The Bewitched] - Daughter
Blank [Spellbound] - Son

Affilations:
Saga is a mare whom Ouray both respects and loves deeply. He knew that he was done for the moment he laid eyes on her. She is his fellow lead, and whilst he wouldn't admit it, they both know that she's the true leader of the herd. Ouray, per say, would do anything she said, for he trusts her opinions and thoughts more than his own. If Saga told him to fetch her something across the land, he would do so in a heartbeat. To Ouray, there is nothing he wishes more than to make sure she remains happy and content. His feelings for her are deep, and he reminds her of them every chance he gets. He would circle the world for her if she asked, and then some.

Selene - He and Selene have a very close relationship, something that Ouray takes pride in. He would turn down anything to spend time with his daughter, and would give up anything to ensure her safety. His family is his main pride and joy in life, and it isn't uncommon for Ouray to express his gratitude towards Selene, often praising and trying to spend some quality time with her. He would often find ways to entertain her as a foal, and even still tries small things to make her happy. He will always be there for her, whether she need a friend or a parent. While she is beginning to grow more independent, Ouray does his best to respect her wishes, but may often be seen lingering in case she requires any guidance. Needless to say, it's he who should learn independence.

Other: Spirit hands down.

Saga

The Plains Herd

Desired Rank:
Content
Appearance:

Saga is a statuesque mare who stands at about 15.2 hh, and while she might not be the tallest of equines, she moves about with a dignified grace that makes her seem taller than she actually is. She holds a powerful build, muscular without making her appear heavy, except when she is with foal. She has long, powerful legs, with hooves that she trusts to carry her through even the toughest of terrain. The mare is sure footed to say the least, the type to adjust to her environment. Since the mare has had a few foals, her belly is a bit rounder than other mares, particularly younger ones or ones who have yet to have their own offspring, but ti doesn't detract from the feminine grace the female seems to exude.

Saga is a mare of beautiful complexion. Her coat has greyed out from it's original color, giving her a dappled grey look that often looks like stars in a cloudy night sky. Her legs and hide are not as heavily dappled, and are darker than the rest of her body, appearing almost like their original shade of midnight. This same darkness is also evident on the bottom of her belly, though it too has begun to dapple out, and will soon be the same color as the rest of her, whereas her legs will remain black from the knee down as she ages.

The mare also has black on her face, specifically her nose is black, whereas the rest of her face is the pale grey color that the rest of her body is. She does, however, have one little splotch of black on her left cheek, which almost acts as a distinguishable feature that allows her to be easily picked out from a crowd of dapple grey mares. The exquisit mare also has the most interesting mane and tail that greys can have. They are an ombre of colors, her mane starting as a darker grey at her forelock, and paling out to white as her it goes down her neck. Her tail, though is different, starting out white, then seem to start to darken towards grey, before abruptly transitioning to a blonde color. This is often do to the fact that the ends of her tail are older and have longer been bleached by the sun.

Along with her primarily greyscale appearance, the mare has a pair of eyes to match. Her orbs are basically the personfication of cold steel, cold and almost metallic in shine, not quite pale enough to be icy, but too light to be anything resembling charcoal. One might be able to convince someone they are stormy, but not so much the middle of a storm, but more so the promise of one, when the clouds are still light. Her voice is a lower register for females, but able to rise in octave whenever the female is in one of her fiery moods or someone has crossed her. And with a silver tongue and venomous words, her rich, silky tones do little to dampen the pain it can cause.

Scar wise, the mare is nothing like the brutes of her species, and her coat is almost in pristine condition. She has a few nip or bite marks on her coat from various others, but nothing big or noteworthy that mars the surface of her coat.

Personality:

Saga is a female with a personality of the complicated variety. She comes off as a rather serious mare at first, but not so much as that she can't relax and enjoy life. She just has little tolerance for disrespect or nuisances, and if you are obnoxious, that is even more points against you. The mare just has pretty high expectations for those who are around her, but she also can be pleasant to be around at times.

The mare has a witty brain practically designed for venomous remarks and rattling others in their hooves. She isn't the mare to hold punches just to appear ladylike, but you can bet the female will say them with such grace or dignity that she can make even a confident horse feel incompetent. That isn't to say she cold or ruthless, she knows where to draw the line and back off, but the mare has no qualms with mincing words, and naturally, she doesn't like to lose.

Despite her capability to verbally destroy someone (and she would), the mare is the farthest thing from hot tempered. She has a surprising amount of patience, and capable of keeping a clear head during things. Saga has a relatively level headed, which allows her to think on her feet, and adapt to what is going on. That isn't to say she can't get irritated, but the mare is not the type to lose her head, yell, or throw a fit. The most you might see her get is frustrated, and all that does is cause the female to dig in her heels and become defiant and/or spiteful.

That all being said, there is a relaxed side to Saga that is often seen when she is left alone or in the company of others that she enjoys. She smiles more, laughs more, and can even joke around too. This side of her is where her understanding and compassion shine through, showing her to be a motherly and supportive character, someone who is in the corner of those she loves. Saga isn't the type to abandon those she loves or trusts. Of course, her trust is a fickle thing, and once it's broken, it's nearly impossible to win back. The mare doesn't play around when it comes to her heart.

Appearance:

Feanor is a formidable stallion who is at the beginning of his prime, fit to take over or create his own herd. Standing at exactly 17 hh tall, the stallion is on the larger side, but not just in height. Along with his height, he also is a relatively stack stallion, being powerfully built with layers of muscle. He's a big stallion, with an attitude to match.

Aside from his size, Feanor stands out from the herd most often due to his coat. Not only is he a chestnut, but he's a roan as well. With a rich coat that seems to have been harnessed from the flames of hell [is that too much?], there is a fullness to his coat color that makes it difficult to look away. Instead of being diluted, like many roans become, he still holds the vibrancy of his base as he roans across his body. The roaned portions of him, which is the base of his body and the tops of his legs, look more like a layer of dust over his coat than true roaning, not having given away to much dilution and grey color.

His mane and tail, which are both long and unruly in nature, are a color equivalent to his coat, being rich and rustic in appearance. On his forehead is a bright white diamond, centered between eyes that are bright hazel.

Credit for both Belongs to Valarian-Warrior on DA. These are stock Images.

Personality:

Feanor is not a stallion that could be described as simple, though his motivations are. He simply desires a herd and to be at the helm of it. However, having grown up in a rather rough herd, he isn't the easiest to be around nor the most mild mannered. Aggression is his forte, though it seems to be entirely directed towards other stallions, especially ones he deems as a threat to himself, and eventually, his herd. He has no patience or tolerance for the presence of another stallion, and is quick to resort to unadultered violence, securing his position and the safety of those he cares about's safety by any means necessary. He's volatile, and he is not scared of the violence of which he harnesses, nor is he afraid to be injured or even die as a result.

The ruby stallion could be described as courageous, as he would never hesitate to defend himself or another who, especially a mare or foal, that needs it. He's the first to run into battle and the last to leave, ensuring that those trusted to him are safe above himself. He isn't someone that should be foolishly and brazenly trifled with.

On the other hoof though, Feanor can be a very patient and gentle stallion, almost kind, even though he may not realize it. Towards mares and their offspring, especially those that might be his own, he is attentive and patient, never the one to lose his cool unless its in their presence but directed towards a threat. He isn't the type to go out of his way to try and intimidate a mare or her offspring, though his nature might cause it on its own. He is caring in a almost endearingly awkward way, making sure that their needs are fulfilled, and questions answered. To them, they have his uptmost loyalty and attention.
