"I do very bad things and I do them very well."
.
Appearance:
Azrael Bates is as smart as the devil and two times prettier. This man holds himself with a strong sense of authority and confidence, often mistaken for arrogance...which he is—at times. Standing at 6'1" feet tall and weighing around 210 pounds, he's lean with a prominent, muscular frame that commands attention wherever he goes. With broad shoulders that lead down to strapping biceps, his forearms are fairly veiny, a testament to the rigorous physical demands of his work. Despite the ruggedness of his hands, which bear the callouses from a life spent grappling with tools and materials, they are surprisingly gentle to the touch, deftly capable of both strength and care. His nails are always kept short and well taken care of, a subtle indication of his meticulous nature.
Overall, his actual body structure is proportionate and rather mesomorphic, featuring a muscular, wider chest that tapers down to a slimmer torso and hips, leading to long, strong legs that seem to carry him with an effortless grace. His middle is well-defined, showcasing abdominal muscles that hint at a softer six-pack, while a noticeable v-cut resides a tad bit lower, emphasizing the dedication he puts into maintaining his physique. His back is equally impressive, with strong shoulders and a straight, almost cat-like posture that exudes confidence and readiness. Scars litter his back, remnants of intense training sessions and the occasional disagreement during work—each telling a story of resilience and the challenges he has faced. His skin is smooth with a light tan coloration, devoid of blemishes, save for the scars that add character to his otherwise flawless complexion.
Now, moving to his facial structure. The man is practically a Greek god, with a sharp jawline that cuts across his diamond-shaped face, lending him an air of regality. His high cheekbones dip in ever so slightly, enhancing his striking features. Azrael's lips are fuller, colored a lighter pink, with two defined peaks on his upper lip that lend a certain charm, while his bottom lip is softly rounded, creating a harmonious balance. Behind those lips lies a pearly white smile, a charismatic and deceptive grin that can disarm even the most guarded of hearts. His nose, more reminiscent of classic Roman architecture, has a small bump in the middle that adds character, culminating in a light upturn at the tip that gives him a mischievous yet approachable appearance.
His brows are well-sculpted and light brown, framing his captivating eyes—hooded and a striking light green, thick lashes accentuating their allure. Azrael’s gaze can shift from piercing intensity to playful warmth in an instant, making it difficult for anyone to resist being drawn into his orbit. His hair is a dusty blonde color, with lighter blonde highlights that catch the sun in proper lighting, giving off an almost ethereal glow. It’s thick and wavy, falling just above his brow in a way that frames his face perfectly while still maintaining a professional appearance.
.
Personality:
Cold | Stubborn | Assertive | Calculating | Intimidating | Obsessive | Moody | Quiet | Blunt | Caring | Serious | Loyal
Yes, Azrael is a stalker—and a murderer... He's a complex individual, a labyrinth of contradictions that leaves those around him perpetually on edge. Cold and stubborn, he navigates the world with an assertiveness that often intimidates those who cross his path. His calculating nature allows him to anticipate outcomes with unnerving precision, enabling him to manipulate situations to his advantage. Yet, beneath his ruthless exterior lies an obsessive heart, twisted into believing that obsession is synonymous with love, which fuels his relentless pursuits.
Moody and reserved, Azrael has a tendency to retreat into himself, often communicating in blunt, rude statements that leave others reeling. However, those who dare to look beyond the surface might catch glimpses of a caring side, one that emerges when he feels a flicker of loyalty towards someone he deems worthy of his affections. In his serious demeanor, there is a sensual charisma that draws people in, making him persuasive yet unnervingly cunning, as he weaves a web of deception around those too naive to see his true intentions.
Tension clings to him like an aura, as if he is perpetually on edge, grappling with anger issues that surface unexpectedly and often violently. He is unmerciful to those who threaten his carefully constructed world, his aggression a shield against the vulnerabilities he fears to confront. Deep down, he is scared of falling in love, acutely aware of the sheer lengths he would go to ensure that person’s safety. This fear of emotional entanglement manifests in his weak emotional stability; he struggles to articulate his feelings and often distances himself from those who might get too close.
Bold and direct, Azrael can be coercive when necessary, employing his manipulative skills to achieve meaningful connections, albeit through twisted means. He possesses an uncanny ability to observe and read the emotions of others, making him both empathetic and profoundly unsettling. While people perceive him as a monster lurking beneath the polished veneer of his businessman exterior, they fail to understand the complexity of his character. Azrael is organized, with his life meticulously curated, yet there is an eerie charm about him—handsome and enigmatic, he lingers in the shadows, a phantom of desire and danger, forever trapped between the duality of love and obsession.
⊹˚₊‧───────────‧₊˚⊹
.
"We do terrible things for the people we love."
.
Strengths/Talents:
Intellectual/Mental Capacity - With an IQ of 160, Azrael is known as one of the smartest businessmen in the world. His intelligence has made it easy for him to navigate business and social dynamics alike. He's a genius, or close to it. Graduating high school at sixteen and leaving college at twenty-two he later inherited his father's work program, inheriting his family fortune when they all passed. Azrael is always thinking. And isn't someone to be belittled or underestimated.
Physical Strength - With as much free time as Aezrael has on his hands, he's in his manor's private studio. Over the years he's had plenty of instructors, learning combat techniques from Front Assaults to Taekwondo- honing his skills whenever he can. He prefers hand-to-hand combat but also practices different techniques such as shooting and spear throwing. Withstanding harsh training as a teenager built up his pain tolerance and immune system as well. Overall, he's grown to be quite impressive physically.
Keeping Company - However much Azrael dislikes most people, he always means to come off as charming and sociable. And he does just that. The man's charismatic and alluring complexion seems to draw people in, catching their attention when he walks into a room. With his persuasive nature and experience in different social classes, he knows just the right way to flash an endearing grin or a suggestive glance to get what he wants making him ever so cunning and deceptive.
Planning - Azrael has been known to always be two steps ahead of everyone when it comes to certain scenarios. He's always thinking, and always seems to have enough time to go over every possible outcome or event that may happen in the future. When he can't fall asleep, Azrael has been known to stay up and simply go over the days conversations and interactions just to make sure he didn't miss anything that could be of significant importance to him later- should he need it.
.
Weaknesses/Struggles:
Hyperthymesia - Azrael has suffered from this medical condition since he was very little. The uncommon ability to allow him to spontaneously recall- with great accuracy and detail- a vast number of personal events and memories plagues him to this day. While this condition may be helpful in some situations, such as his interesting line of...work, its also a burden he has to carry with him. He remembers everything. The wonderful times of his life, every conversation with everyone he's ever met, and the horrific, terrifying moments in his past in which he can only dream to forget.
Sleeping - This has gotten to a point where it is actually an issue- sleep. Azrael can thank the condition above for this, rarely ever actually falling asleep- even when doing so he can only really rest for a couple of hours before his memories of the past day or past in general swarm his head. It's not that he doesn't want to. He simply can't.
Upholding Relationships - This is something that the man has always struggled with. Keeping strong relationships with close friends or family is easier said than done and Azrael's distant personality often keeps him from connecting on a personal level with others. There have only been a few instances where the man has felt compelled to keep the relationship going- take for example; his little sister... when she was still alive. Most times, Azrael often becomes bored or the relationship quickly becomes toxic, to say the very least so he ends it. One way. Or the other.
Philophobia - The nagging fear of falling in love. Now, you may be questioning this- he's had lovers in the past after all. Not exactly. He didn't love them as he should have. It was never love, it was obsession. It always seems to go the same way. Azrael doesn't let himself love anyone, mostly because of relationships with close friends/family that ended tragically. Instead, Azrael has come to some sort of twisted conclusion that obsession is love, and when/if someone tries to correct him and talk with him about such topics, he gets defensive and sometimes even aggressive. And he's aware of the sheer lengths he may go to protect someone he loves.
Emotional Stability/Expression - He... He doesn't know how to healthily express or talk about his feelings. The man has anger issues that have come up over the years, resulting in conversations with others feeling almost hesitant and wary as they are scared that he may break at any time. He's a bull walking through a china shop. If one plate falls, the others come crashing down. Chaos. Absolute chaos.

Katy is a young woman with a striking yet soft beauty. Her features are warm and elegant. Her face is heart-shaped, with delicate yet defining features. Her skin is fair and smooth, with little to no blemishes and a natural glow. She has large, expressive eyes, similar to puppy or doe eyes but with slightly upturned outer corners. Her lashes are dark with a natural curl to them. A captivating shade of dark blue colors her eyes as if her eyes were painted with the deep, dark ocean. Her eyebrows are softly arched and well-groomed but also quite natural. She has a small, straight nose and light pink full lips that carry a natural pout that adds to her graceful charm. Her hair is a deep chestnut brown with loose, flowy waves. She usually wears her hair in a ponytail and puts it to one side but often has it down, naturally tucked behind her ears. A few delicate strands frame her face and a slight sidepart. The texture of her hair appears soft with a natural shine in the light.
.
Kat is quite short, only being 5’3 thanks to her genetics. She is average, being around 110 pounds, with little to no muscle. She tries her best to maintain an elegant, straight posture, but slouches when alone. She can usually be caught wearing tank tops, pyjama pants, low-rise jean shorts, or sweatpants. Whenever she wears low-rise jean shorts, she always wears sheer colored tights under them, refusing to show off self-inflicted scar-covered legs.
.
Personality:
Creative | Imaginative | Expressive | Introspective | Passionate | Empathetic | Romantic at heart | Self-critical | Perfectionist | Emotional | Curious | Observant | Quiet
.
Kat is a dreamer, with her hands stained with ink. Her mind overflows with such creative, dreamy stories. She is creative to her core, and she finds inspiration in everything, whether that be conversations or a random leaf that she caught falling from a tree. Writing isn't just a hobbie for Kat, its her way of escaping reality but also a way of understanding the world. She loves bringing characters to life and dreaming about a possible alternate universe.
.
She thrives in quiet spaces, only hearing the quiet hum of life surrounding her. She can easily lose herself in her writing, spending hours on end finishing chapters or jotting down new ideas. Ideas strike at odd times, causing her to keep a notebook filled with scribbled ideas and a desktop cluttered with half-finished papers.
.
She is very passionate and creative when it comes to writing and being an author, but outside of that, she still has those qualities with everything. She tends to catch herself daydreaming or imagining what life could have been. She can get caught up in her own fantasy world sometimes. She also tends to get buried in her thoughts, drowning in her feelings. Oftentimes, she doubts herself and is too self-critical, examining every little thing she does and wondering what she could have said or done better. She is also a perfectionist since she fears everything she does is never good enough. She sets extremely high standards for herself, and when they aren't met, she often doubts and judges herself.
.
Katy is quite the romantic at heart. She has many different romantic fantasies that she knows she'll never experience. She can read about the deepest, darkest romances and still fantasize about it, knowing that if she were ever in that situation, she wouldn't know what to do. She tells herself that she can only dream for a fantasy like that to come to life. She's also quiet and observant, watching the world pass her by. The quiet hum of the world around her gives her comfort. She finds it quite incredible to be as observant as she is, for a multitude of reasons. She could spot a terrible relationship anywhere or see the true beauty of one unfold just before her eyes.
.
Kat was always called sensitive or emotional her whole life, but she just has the capacity to feel and express herself more than others. Her ability to feel and show such strong emotions is so overlooked. She is often afraid to be expressive, but she can't help it. If she ever lashes out in any way, whether that be aggressively or emotionally, she always wants to crawl into a hole afterward.
⊹˚₊‧───────────‧₊˚⊹
.
"The eyes are the window to your soul."
.
Strengths/Talents:
Writing - She has been passionate about writing ever since she could remember. In elementary school, she always found herself ahead of the other students when it came to English and writing. In high school, about grade 10 or 11, she had finished her first book called “The boy who lived nextdoor”
Creativity - Ever since she was little, her mind has been very creative. She liked playing with paint, drawing, writing, and making stuff with scraps. Since she liked writing the most, her strength in creativity made it easy for her to come up with amazing ideas.
Empathetic - She understands people deeply and feels strong emotions for other people. Even those who hurt her or do her wrong, she always finds herself forgiving them and trying her best to understand their perspective. She can understand another person's feelings strongly.
Driven by passion - Once an idea pops into her mind, she won't stop until its fully formed. Her love for writing has taken over her life. It can get exhausting, but it's what she loves to do, she just needs to learn to pace herself sometimes.
.
Weaknesses:
Physical Strength - Kat was never one to work out in any sort, so she doesn't have much physical strength. The only strength she got is simply from lifting books all the time.
Self-doubt - Despite her creative mind, she struggles with doubting herself. Her ideas are amazing, but she always finds a way to doubt herself. Whether its saying the writing sucks or the plot isnt good enough, she always finds a way. Even when she releases a book, she thinks it’s not good enough.
Perfectionist - She tends to over-edit her work due to being a perfectionist. She wants her work to be the very best and is afraid she's always missing something or she made a typo.
⊹˚₊‧───────────‧₊˚⊹
.
"The worst enemy to creativity is self-doubt."
.
Affiliations:
[Mother] Anne Caulfield - Alive [Negative Relationship]
[Father] David Caulfield - Deceased [Positive Relationship]
.
[Ex-Lover] Warren Price - Alive [Negative Relationship, He abused her]

Other:
She is deathly afraid of the dark, or more so, the things in the dark.

Azrael
⊹˚₊‧───────────‧₊˚⊹
.
The man had been sitting in the same goddamn parking lot for two hours.
Azrael hadn't slept the previous night, as per usual- and had been lying in his bed, scrolling through social media when he got a call from his employee, Bodhi. According to his employee's "deep-dive into upcoming events"- so Mr.Caldwell liked to call it when in reality all he did was type shit into Google- there would be some writer's convention taking place in the downtown area of Belltown, Seattle. As Bodhi had stated clearly, the event was to bring authors from all over Washington- well-known and popular authors at that. Azrael reluctantly agreed to come down here to look around the place. After all, what could there be at an event like... this? Well, that question was answered quite quickly- the importance of this convention more so kicked in when he had finally found a place to park the black Ferrari he rode in. The sun hadn't even begun to rise and most of the parking spaces in front of the modernized-looking building were already filled. The time was 4:38 in the morning for fucks sake. The doors to the event didn't even open until 6:30.
Now, as to what Azrael did to pass the two grueling hours of silence... nothing. He did nothing to pass the time- except keep an eye on the two large glass doors in the front of the many-storied building in front of him. He watched as even more cars pulled into the parking spaces in front of him and to his sides, taking note that many of the cars around him didn't seem to fit the downtown area...air. To put in other words, the cars and the people who came out of them appeared well-off in financial aspects. The older woman in the car beside his wore what seemed to be a fur coat, her black YSL cross-body purse glinting in the now rising sun's morning light.
The man's green gaze flicked to the phone on his thigh as a light buzz rang out, his right hand turning it over as he sat straighter in the car's seat. The light of the phone illuminated Azrael's features in the darkness of his car as he read the message sent to him. An unknown number. But a very familiar dispatcher. The text was a simple four words that conveyed an easy enough task.
"Put the earpiece in."
Reaching over to the passenger seat glove compartment, Azrael's fingers fiddle with the opener until it clicks open. His hands searched the pocket before pulling out a small black box. The glove box clicked shut once more and the man leaned back in his seat, adjusting the cuffs of his fitted black suit before turning his attention back to the small box. Azrael opened it to see a small black, circular earpiece in a dark red velvet cushion- a small grin moving onto the man's lips as he let out a soft chuckle, picking up the piece and placing it on the inside of his right ear.
"You really could have just handed this to me, Bodhi. You didn't need to go through the effort of wrapping it for me."
The grin in Azrael's rumbling voice must have been evident because there was a small scoff on the other end of the line.
"Yeah, okay- shut up, man. Are the doors opened yet?"
The blonde male looked up from his lap, his expression turning serious as he took in the view of the slowly growing line of people waiting outside the still-shut front doors.
"Doesn't look like it, no. Hey- what am I doing here anyway? I had a meeting to attend."
"Oh, sure you did. You were most definitely not lying on your bed half-naked and staring up at the ceiling when I called you."
Silence.
"Fine. But why am I here? What's an author meetup got to do with anything important?"
Azrael's tone was a grumble, his brows pulling together as more people joined the line outside of the large building. There was a rich chuckle on the other side of the earpiece.
"You're there to check up on Ms.Delilah Wilkins."

⊹˚₊‧───────────‧₊˚⊹
It was finally the big day for Katy, her first ever huge book signing event. Many other famous authors were going to be there, which was the main reason she was so excited. She was excited to see all her fans as well, but at the same time, she was quite nervous about that aspect. Her brain was filled with negative thoughts, like if she was going to have the least amount of people there for her or, even worse, nobody. Throughout the years, she has had many other book signing events, but they weren't ever this big. She was surprised and grateful that she even got this opportunity, even though she had to move nearly 2 states over to take it. The house she moved into was huge, and she was able to afford it all since she is a pretty well-known author. Words couldn't describe how grateful Katy was to be in her current position. When she was younger, she would have never thought she'd be here when she was in her 20s.
.
Her alarm went off at 5 am, but she was already up 10 minutes before. She had struggled to get good sleep because of her nerves, but it was nothing a coffee and cold shower couldn't fix. As the cold water hit her body, she felt her whole body start to wake up. It was honestly really rejuvenating to shower in cold water, and she took a liking to it, especially when she needed to wake up. Once she was done with her long shower, she did her whole body and hair routine before getting dressed. Since it was a big event, she needed to dress quite professionally. Standing with her body wrapped in a towel, she skimmed through all of her dress clothes. Maybe a dress? She moved towards her dresses and began to skim through them. She stopped on a tight, dark red dress, with sleeves that stopped just past her elbows, and fell just down to her knees. She stared at the dress in awe and knew it was the one, although she worried that she was going to be the only one in a dress. She wondered what the others would be wearing and if this would fit in. Shrugging her shoulders, she moved to grab a bra and underwear. Once the dress was on, she looked in the mirror, satisfied with what she saw, and now it was time for makeup. She didn't usually do makeup, but when she did it would be light mascara and some darker eyeshadow, and so that's what she was doing.
.
It was now about the time where she had to leave in order to get there 1 hour early to help set up. They mostly had everything set up, but she still wanted to arrive early to be professional, plus in the email she got it said to be 30 minutes to an hour early What she wasn't prepared for, was the longest line she had ever seen upon arriving at the building. Thankfully, she was ordered to go through the back where all the authors could get in safely. She did as she was told, parking her black Volkswagen hatchback in the employee parking lot and entering the building through the back doors. She made her way through the halls and to the open library where the signing was taking place. Every person she saw was greeted with a smile and the occasional "Hi, how are you?", but she really just kept to herself. Her eyes flew around the room as she looked for her spot, once spotting it, she moved to go to it. It was a desk with a chair and some books out on display. Beside the desk was a big sign stating who she was with her picture and her most famous book, "The boy who lived next-door". A prideful smile rose on her lips as she examined the sign, but it quickly faded when her attention was drawn to the rest of the room.

⊹˚₊‧───────────‧₊˚⊹
.
It didn't take too much longer until the doors opened a couple of minutes after 6:30 AM.
Azrael watched silently from his car as the line of people busied themselves with getting into the establishment first. The young man had long since hushed the chatter of the man in the earpiece and had been quietly fuming as the idea sunk in that he would be seeing a person he very much despised in less than an hour or so. I made a small promise to himself to have a nice little chat with Bodhi when he got back to his estate. Chewing on the inside of his cheek slowly, Azrael recalled- for what must have been the thousandth time- the breakup between Ms.Wilkins and himself not a year ago. For Azrael, the day had been going fairly normal- boring meetings, tiresome small talk... And he recalled being absolutely desperate to get back to his estate and take some time to take out any pent-up emotions in the newly constructed gym. The man had parked the black Mercedes he was driving, bringing it around back to drive into the garage. He remembered pausing to glance briefly at the white Bentley in the front. The man had a lot of cars. He didn't have any Bentley's. Azrael remembered stepping out of the car and quietly shutting the door, pulling the shotgun from its latch on his side, under his suit, and opening the door. There was no sight of Delilah and Azrael was about to become concerned... until he heard it. The creaking of the guest room's bed and the unfortunate sound of her and whoever dared to crawl their way into his estate. To put things simply, Azrael walked in on his girlfriend at the time cheating, shot the man dead, and nearly did the same to her- until the pathetic begging ensued and he let her off with a threat. Banishing her from his estate and sending word to her company's boss and having her fired.
Apparently, his ex got into writing after her firing and was at the event Azrael was currently parked outside of. Perfect. Just what he needed. The young man was about to exit his car when another buzz of his phone caught his attention. Impatiently flipping it over, the new number that Bodhi had contacted him on had sent him what looked like a list of everyone who would be showcasing their pieces today, pictures of the authors themselves and the books they'd be showing alongside a small description of each. A small sneer grew on his lips at the photo of the redhead, who was grinning like she just won the lottery. That was Delilah alright. The man scrolled down one section to pass over a blonde older man, Jeffery Hoskins, an elderly woman, Wilma Berrie, and... His scrolling paused, the light of his phone eliminating the face hidden by his hood as his eyes scanned the face of... his gaze skipped down to the woman's name. Katerina Caulfield. His eyes narrowed slightly, oh- she looked dangerous. The soft smile that played on her lips as her deep blue eyes seemed to bear into his soul nearly made him forget to breathe. Holy shit-
"You're still in your fucking car?! Come on man, the doors have been open for fifteen minutes!"
Bodhi's irritated voice elevated enough that the man could hear his frustration through the near-muted earpiece. Azrael blinked, swallowing before clicking off his phone and clearing his throat.
"Yeah, yeah. I'm going, I'm going."
The agitated sigh that left the other end of the line was nearly comical, a ghost of a smile lifting on one side of Azrael's mouth as he stepped out of the car, posture straightening as he ran a hand through his dusty blonde hair- slamming the door shut and locking the vehicle before making his way to the front doors. Right. Focused.
"There should be some sort of refreshment table- blend in and look like you're meant to be there. There are security officers at each of the four entrances so don't fuck anything up, alright?"
Azrael couldn't help the eye roll that left him as his smooth voice spoke lowly,
"Only because you asked so nicely."

Her eyes darted from person to person, examining what they were wearing, what they were doing, everything about them. She also observed the big room she was in, it was better to take it all in before she hopefully got busy signing books. A smile played across her face, and her eyes lit up. This was very exciting for her, and the doors hadn't even opened yet. With a glance towards the big glass doors, her heart sank a little when she saw how many people there truly were. Once the doors opened, all of those people would be rushing to get inside, it was a bit scary to think about. Her gaze shifted to her little station, and she couldn't help but notice that things were a bit messy. As she waited for the doors to open, she fixed up her desk before going on her phone for a few minutes. Once the doors opened, she turned her brain to work mode. Her heart sped up as all the people rushed to different authors and began to form lineups. A warm, friendly smile rose on her face when she noticed many people making their way over to her. She straightened her posture a bit and got ready to sign some books.
.
This wasn't a meet and greet, all Kat had to do was simply say hi and sign people's books. She wished she could make conversation with her fans, but unfortunately she couldn't. With the amount of people already lining up to get their book signed by her, the most she could say was "hi". Grabbing her black pen, she stiffened a bit upon seeing the first person in line. "Oh my god, I love your books so much!" Said a lady, as she put her book down on Kat's table. "Thank you! It means a lot." Kat replied with a smile as she moved to grab the book. She flipped to the first page and signed her name on it. Writing a special note in each individual's book was something she also wished she could do, but when she looked up and saw the line, she closed the book immediately. She shoved the book to the right side of her table and looked at the next person in line to indicate she was ready for them. The same thing went on for about another 15 minutes, and it was constant, she never caught a break. Her hand was honestly getting sore from all the signing. Luckily, it was just now slowing down a bit, and not just for her. Most people that were lined up early got their books signed by the main person they wanted by now. There were still lines, but they were much shorter now. With the occasional glance around the place, she noticed people walking around and looking at books on the shelves. Some people were reading the backs of books, some were getting drinks and snacks from the refreshment area. Katy sat there with her legs crossed, and her head held high. "There you are." Katy said after signing the last person in her line. Surely more people would show up over time, or at least she hoped more people would.

It had taken a while to find the table full of refreshments because of the sheer amount of people already in and flooding through the doors of the establishment.
Azrael kept his head down as he weaved his way through the crowd, seeming to blend in nicely among the crowds spreading out amongst different tables. Keeping his pace steady, the man made his way over to the buffet-looking tables of food and drinks- keeping to the pillar to its side as people walked up to grab small plates. The man's gaze shifted from one person to the next as they walked by, his eyes wandering to the tables. He had been avoiding the reason he had even come here for as long as he could. The click in his ear turned to a familiar voice as Bodhi cleared his throat.
"Any sign of little Miss Strawberry Shortcake yet?"
Azrael's brows rose at the nickname and fought back a bite of laughter, a grin on his face as he looked up from his hands, gaze roaming from table to table until landing on an all too familiar face. Delilah sat at her own table, appearing to chat with a young man- a smile that Azrael had once been naive enough to fall for plastered on her lips as she signed his copy of whatever her book was called. Azrael straightened and in that exact moment, her bright green eyes found his. His smirk faltered momentarily, his gaze hardening as they continued to stare at one another. Then Delilah seemed to apologize to the man she was talking to, sliding her chair back and moving around him before smoothing out her skimpy black dress, and turning in Azrael's direction. The "charming" smile that had held her expression was now shaping into a nasty scowl. The man murmured a quick,
"Shut up."
before leaning back against the pillar, a cocky grin on his face as he looked down at the woman who was now mere inches away from him. Looking as though she'd willingly snatch up the toothpicks stuck in the little cheese squares and skewer his eyes out.
.
"Ms.Wilkins, what a surprise-"
He was cut off by a snarl of words,
"Oh, save it, Bates. What are you doing here?"
Azrael's brows rose in mock surprise.
"Not happy to see me? I'm wounded, truly."
A scoff.
"We both know you're not here for pleasantries. And the longer you're here the more the is a risk of something happening and you getting caught."
"I wasn't aware that you still cared."
Azriel was met with a glare that only further pulled up the grin on his lips.
"I don't... If you get caught then I will be questioned as well and I didn't know you wanted me to share the details of...everything."
The woman's arms folded across her chest, a smirk growing on her own face as Azrael's faltered.
"Believe me, I wouldn't be here if I had a choice. But we needed to make sure you weren't... talking. You can thank Bodhi for that."
The woman in front of him shifted on her feet, glancing back to her growing line at the table she was previously sitting at before whipping back around on her heel and leaning up to growl something into his ear.
"You're going to leave now, or the authorities will be called. You have five minutes to get out before I start blabbering."
He pushed off the wall, straightening to tower over the petite redhead.
"I'll be leaving when I give myself that order. And unless you want to end up like Mr.Rosar then you'd best keep your mouth shut."
The woman visibly paled at the sound of her affair's name, stepping back while still managing to keep his gaze. She straightened, however, her voice was anything but fiery- instead the tone of it was shaky and a hushed whisper.
"Fine. But stay out of my sight."
.
The man nodded, his grin following her as she walked back to her table- sitting down and sparing him a glance before turning back to work, a forced smile plastered onto her lips as she started signing books once again. Another click in his ear sounded before Bodhi's voice grumbled.
"So much for keeping me out of things. Thanks man."
"No problem,"
Azrael spoke smoothly, responding with a matching sarcasm as he turned from the pillar to spear a grape with one of the toothpicks available, popping it into his mouth before turning around once again- Bodhi's voice in his ear.
"Feel free....to...."
The blonde young man's head had drowned out the next few words of his coworker easily. He was frozen to the spot in which he was standing, pausing mid-chew to take in the sight before him. A woman, the woman from the ad online sat signing at a table not too far from the others- seemingly finishing up with her line of guests. Azrael couldn't move. He couldn't- she was gorgeous. Breathtaking. Literally, he had forgotten how to breath- suddenly choking on the air that went down with the grape he had been chewing. After a moment of struggling he gathered himself, shaking his head with a grin as he looked past the pillar once more at the goddess at work. Holy fuck.
"Dude- Azrael, what the fuck just happened?"
A deep chuckle rumbled from the young mans throat as he turned, briskly making his way out of the establishment.
"I have a task for you."
Silence on the other end. He continued.
"Find out everything you can about Katerina Caulfield."
