Winds Of Change "Nothing lasts forever ; one should make the best of their time spent in this lifetime." Family - something precious and to be protected. Most wolves grow up in large family groups with the parents being in charge and the children following their lead until they decide to leave. That's what happened with this pack - it was a simple pack at first ; a mated pair that struck out their own and created a territory for themselves. Then, both their friends joined them and the small group grew to four - and then their friends found mates, and the pack became six. And soon children were born to the friends, and the numbers grew at the birth of the newest generation. They also decided to welcome weary travelers and those just simply needing protection within their pack. They grew to become a well-known pack - naming themselves the Everfree Pack, a pack who welcomed the broken and fired and sheltered the hurt and weak. They took in the ones that other packs didn't want. They're still a relatively new group - only being their for a little over a decade. While they wish peaceful times could last, the world was changing and the pack was evolving. The original six had grown older, and the leaders decided it was time to finally pass the mantle to their child to take the lead. They chose their youngest son, over his older siblings. It wasn't a popular opinion amongst the siblings and maybe even the pack ; but no one dared challenge them in their choice. He was given leadership during the ending of summer ; and he has lead lead them during the autumn, and now winter - this winter has been particularly harsh, and the young leader has lead with wisdom beyond his years and proven himself to the pack. Most are coming around to having him as their new superior. Now that he has established himself - some changes are needed to be made. The closing of winter is need, and spring is drawing closer - meaning that the Courtship Season is approaching. The young male must find the right female to lead by his side, and it's a daunting task as it is a coveted position. Not only this, he now must carefully assign members of the pack their new official rankings since he has time to watch and lead them. Meaning some may be demoted, others promoted or some stays the same. This can lead to conflict and discontent, but this is a time which the fresh leader needs to stand strong and lead the pack during such a time. While the pack was dealing with a harsh winter, a small group of wolves has brazenly stolen a rather sizable chunk of their territory. They are lead by a bloodthirsty couple and their followers, and it seems they won't go away without a fight as well - not to mention, they seem a bit too organized and know a bit too much about the pack for a normal takeover. This is a time in which the new leader needs to prove his worth and find a way to deal with these unreasonable and ludicrous wolves ; however, the pack also has a decision to make. Where will their loyalties lie. Will they stand by their leader and support him? Or abandon him in this time of need for something seemingly shiny and new?

Rena || F || Subordinate || @: Sikúnguaĸ (ind) Rena deeply embedded in her sleep tossed and turned. Moss and bedding scruffing its way into her fur. The morning sun barely hitting in the den through the deep foggy, cloudy weather. She sighed deeply laying on her side in a good sleep. But as the sun rose more the cold started to seep into the den. Instinctively she curled up tail covering her snout. She tried sleeping more but a final gush of air woke her. Sighing she looked up, her beauty sleep ruined by nature. Her eyes looked out at the hazy sunrise, blurrily blinking the sleep from her eyes. The sunset was very pretty through the foggy and cloudy sunrise. The camp was silent, not a singing bird, just the sound of her packmates' heavy breathing. She looked around, eyes glancing over all the sleeping pack members. "Were all equal again" She thought to herself as she admired everyone not making a fuss about sleeping around other wolves. Sighing she laid her head on her paws trying to gather every pint of rest she could. She could tell it was going to be a somewhat tiring and eventful day. Her eyes shot to the den entrance watching as she procrastinated getting up. Yawning, she brought herself to sit up with every bit of willpower she had. The cold breeze hit her like a storm awakening her fully. As the cold hit her she puffed out her fur blocking the cold from reaching her warm embrace. She pushed her paws against the ground pushing herself up to stand. Her legs held her weakly as they started waking up from the restful night. Her front legs pushed out her back arching as she stretched. With a glance around she finally took some pawsteps towards the den entrance, the lighting brighter. As her head peeped out the entrance she sighed not much sunlight outside to see. But as she woke up her mood improved her thinking. Lifting her ears she emerged from the den with bits of sunlight dancing on her golden fur. She gave a shake making the moss fly out her pelt before she continued her stride. As she made her way down to the meeting grounds it hit her, today they would get their ranks! “Oh my goodness! Today's the ranking ceremony!” She thought anxiously as nervousness built up in her. “What rank will I get? Hopefully a good one… I hope Alpha sees my good qualities. I don’t wanna end up an omega…” Rena thought worriedly as she wandered down the meeting grounds. It was still early and she didn’t see no one else. She sat down, tail curled around her paws as she hid any hint of fear or nervousness with her pride. She held her chin high wondering what rank she would get. Mavka | Southern Winds Group | Commander | As the sun began to rise, casting a feeble light over the landscape, the fog rolled in like a silent shroud, enveloping the Southern Winds Group's new found territory in a hazy embrace. Despite the chilly air and the thick cloud cover, there was an air of quiet anticipation among the pack members that were beginning to rise. They had successfully secured a section of the Everfree Pack's unguarded territory, marking a significant victory for their pack. At the base of a towering mountain, nestled beside a tranquil lake, and surrounded by the dense foliage of a boreal forest, the Southern Winds Group found themselves in a land ripe with potential. The untouched beauty of their surroundings offered them a canvas upon which to paint the story of their pack's journey, brimming with promise and opportunity. Amidst the tranquil serenity of the morning, a lone figure stood at the water's edge, her white fur shimmering like freshly fallen snow in the pale sunlight. With a deep breath, she inhaled the crisp morning air, detecting the faint scent of snow on the horizon. Mavka had woken before the sun, wanting to enjoy the group’s accomplishment in silence. It wouldn’t be long until she and her mate, Rǫgnvaldr, would meet with their lieutenant to discuss the next steps for the pack. But for now, she sought solace in the fleeting peace of the morning, knowing that the clamor of responsibilities would soon demand her attention. As Mavka stood in quiet contemplation, her thoughts turned to the growing unrest within the pack. There were those who had begun to ask questions, their curiosity piqued by the recent bold actions of the Southern Winds Group and their Commanders. Mavka understood their curiosity all too well. She and Rǫgnvaldr had forged this rag-tag band from the ashes of their past, and began growing into a formidable threat. The history behind their alliance was woven with threads of betrayal and hardship that had left scars both seen and unseen. Rǫgnvaldr, the rightful Lord of the Everfree Pack, had been unjustly stripped of his title, his father's favor began to sway before picking the youngest sibling, Sikúnguaĸ. The reason for picking Sikúnguaĸ was never known nor justified. Mavka didn’t have to think twice when Rǫgnvaldr asked her to leave with him. The two would reclaim what was rightfully his- theirs - from the Everfree Pack. As the sun continued its slow ascent, casting a soft glow over the landscape, Mavka steeled herself for the challenges that lay ahead. She couldn't shake the weight of uncertainty that lingered in her mind, wondering if today would be the day that she and Rǫgnvaldr would finally share their history with the rest of the pack. The Commander shook out her fur, a silent gesture of resolve, as she turned to look back towards their make-shift camp. Edited at February 26, 2024 04:23 PM by The Bewitched

Everest | F | Nomad || M: Akuma (Ind&direct.) The young she wolf felt the chill of the later winter winds blow subtly into the cave. The powdery snow had slowly been pushed into the cave entrance. The snow was fairly almost gone, but the temperatures have stayed frigid and the clouds in the sky have said otherwise. Everest has been awake for some time now from the dreams that haunt her slumber that play tricks in her mind like it was reality. Her head laid between her paws as she watched the fog become denser and her warmth of breath come out of her nostril and disappear in thin air. The depths of winter are nearly gone, but the cold is still here. The Spring Showers were coming near, but felt so far away from reach. The feeling of soft dewy grass under paws and the sun out for everyone to see. The birth of young ones and a new chapter of life for everyone that wishes for it. Everest slowly got to her paws trying to not make a sound to wake her friend that was near. She slowly moved out of the den to embrace the cold that nipped her ears and nose with greed. Her yellow gaze hastily looked around her environment for any unwelcome guests that decided to come near. Everest climbed to a perch outside of the cave and sat on her haunches taking in the cold winds in the mountain terrain. Her emotion was unreadable as it was stone cold neutral with nothing to give away. Her mind was deep in thought of what to do today. The game will be hard to catch today with the incoming snow that will come and pay its due. She lashed her tail in thinking of what to do with her day. The water is frozen, no fish, most birds have migrated, and while others are large and protective. The best bet was to find an injured doe or a lone fawn in these parts, but who knows what we will find waiting for us. Everest watched a fox pounce high in the air into the powdery snow to fetch a mouse that was below its paws. She licked her chops thinking of the meal that the fox just caught. Though she won’t chase the fox because the mouse would give Everest nothing, but crave for me. Her eyes boredly looked below at the cave entrance checking if Akuma had risen from his slumber. But Everest knew that he wouldn’t as she always enjoys the early mornings and silence. Not a soul was awake to interrupt her peace. She was proud of herself to a point that she made it this far though with an ally. Everest watched the night turn into the sunrise with the soft colors that painted the skies orange and purple that peaked through the light gray clouds. The morning has begun and nothing hasn’t made a sound quite yet. The only bird she heard making it call was the mourning dove with its sad song. The song that she believed to call for a love that will never be found or has been taken away. Her ears flattened to her head as her eyes clouded with sadness just for a second to let her be reminded of her past life. A second that Everest looked forward to, but dreaded every morning. The song of the mourning dew slowly grew quieter as the day began and now work needs to be done. She got to her paws and decided that her peaceful morning had ended and she needed to get moving. A nomadic wolf can never have a lazy moment for too long or it will be struck dead by mother nature. Everest found herbs for Akuma and herself just in case it was needed. Sickness and injuries come up unannounced and being unprepared is a death sentence to any wolf that was foolish enough to allow it. She gently tore the herbs from the ground and found a dry enough area to keep from being wrinkled and soiled from the ground. Mud has begun to cake into her paws and legs from her retracting the herbs from its nest. Everest decided it was time to wake Akuma. Even if he was awake or not she was bored and becoming restless to hunt or just move her legs. Akuma was her excuse to live again.. Though she will admit it out loud for anyone to hear. She quickly trotted to the den and poked her head in and barked, “Wakey, Wakey Akuma.. Or I will kick some snow in here and ruin your beauty rest..” She added the last one with mischief and trouble in her voice. With a wolfish smirk displayed on her face, she quickly moved away from the cave entrance and laid down waiting to hear his protest from her playful threat.

Anders | M | Sub. | M: Teresa, pups, Rena The cold hung in the air, seeming to crystallize as Anders took a deep breath in. His autumn coat did a good job at keeping this male warm but he still had a strong dislike for it. He shifted slightly in his sleep, arousing the mind. Eyes shut tightly, begging for just a few more moments of silence and warmth; the sweet scent of Teresa drifted into his nose. There were earthy tones to her scent and it seemed he could never get enough of it. A breeze ruffled through the coat, making him open his eyes at the sudden sharpness of cold. A growl escaped Anders throat as he breathed in. The old air hurt his throat, causing him to wince. Golden gaze turned to look at his mate. He watched the steady rhythm of Teresa's breathing. He put his head on top of hers and closed his eyes again. Just a few moments of sitting in silence before the pups awoke. As he laid there with his eyes shut he listened to the breathing of those around him. Did anyone else seem to be awake? He lifted his head when another gust of wind came through. He looked beyond the entrance to the outside. The fog hung low to the ground, blanketing it in its embrace. His packmates were excited for this day, the air for the past few days had buzzed with it . Anders couldn't be less excited however. The young lord had been insufferable as an apprentice and had no doubt in his mind that Sikunguak hadn't changed. Anders hated that Hrorikr had stepped down. And he hated that he'd chosen the little brat to be the Lord. His brothers were much better suited. His loyalty to Hrorikr ran deep and nothing could change that. He was drawn from his thoughts by a kick from one of the pups. He turned his head to see who had done it. It was hard to tell with the puppy pile going on. He smiled down at his pups, wondering how much longer they'd be asleep. He turned back to his sleeping mate, his ear flickered back, listening to any signs of movement from the pups. Anders nuzzled Teresa's grey cheek. “Tess, are you awake darling?” He whispered in her ear, looking at her with glittering eyes, soft eyes that showed his admiration for this she-wolf. His tail wagged carefully as he watched her, not wanting to wake the puppies up. He stretched his head up, stretching his neck. He shook his head afterwards, his neck feeling better after that. He shifted his body and stood up, shaking his pelt loose of anything that clung to it. His gaze rested on the fog outside. Gentle footsteps led him towards the exit. He paused by it and glanced back at his family. They'd be up in a bit, he was sure. The male stepped out into the cold. The fog hung to him, causing him to feel heavy. He had never been a fan of the fog but it was nice to have the coverage while being on others territory. He glanced around and could make out the figure of Rena. He blinked in her direction. For a moment he thought about going back to the den, to curl up again and drift back off. He decided against it and sat down in the snow. He wrapped his tail over his paws, keeping the top of them warm. Anders sighed and positioned himself to watch the den, waiting and watching from afar.

Hondo l 5 years l Subordinate l M: Open! . Hondo awoke to the earlt chirps of birds in the morning. The crisp air rolled through camp, which he called home. The sun was just beginning to come up, orange rays poking through the leaves in the tree tops. Hondo took a second to breathe it all in. Yet a cold chill climbed up his spine, warning him to take advantage of the weather befire the icy cold winter months set upon them. He picked up his black, choclate brindle colored head to look up at the sky, taking in a quick breath to smell his surroundings. He seemed to be one of the first ones awake. The male rose to his paws, letting out a long stretch, getting his muscles ready to move. He stifled a yawn, and let out a medium sized growl while doing so. The looked around camp, his topaz eyes scanning the surroundings. It was about time for the morning meeting, where hus youngest brother Sikúnguaĸ, was going to make his annoncemrnt. He was happy for his brother for gaining the role of Young Lord, even if part of his despised him. Hondo was, of course, the eldest if his siblings, yet his parents had looked over him and asked his brither to take over. He hadnt talked to his parents since. But part of him knew he'd ask before they moved on. He had dreamed of taking iver the responsibilities of the Pack since he was a pup, but now his plans of leading were gone. But he felt good about his brother, knowing he would make the decisions he would. He needed to stop telling himself that. Hondo padded across the clearing, peering into dens, some of which were empty, others full with a sleeping wolf. He sniffed the air again, this time searching for any sign if prey. He jnew hunting woyld be hard today because of this weather, but he still smelled the faint scent of rabbit nearby. His thoughts drifted to the day's coming events. Today was the day Sikúnguaĸ would decide the roles of his pack. Maybe Hondo would be sleected as second in command, even though that was highly unlikely. He'd probably be stuck in the Hunters or Warriors group for life. The grass and dirt beneath his paws made him feel a sense of warmness and homeluness, knowing that either way he woulf stand up for his brother, regardless of the choices he made. As he approached the spot of the Morning Meeting, he slowed to a trot. A small clearimg was in front of him, this was where they held meetings. Hondo took a spot near the front left, so he could easily hear his brother, then layed down, crossed his two front paws, wrapped his tail snuggly around him, and began to wait for the ithers t arrive, as he could feel camp come alive from around him.
