Warren Rules ☆ The Warchief's rule is law. ☆ Rivals must hold a position above Denizen. ☆ You may not fight back against a Warclaw. ☆ Warchiefs serve until death, but Rivals may step down at any time. ☆ Hauled food goes to does with kittens first, then the Warchief. Denizens eat last. ☆ Violence is a justifiable way to solve problems. ☆ A hauler who keeps food will be punished. ☆ Leading predators to the warren is cause for punishment. ☆ Kits are to be taught our ways kindly, but firmly.

Overview 🐇━━🐇━━🐇━━🐇━━━━━PLOT━━━━━🐇━━🐇━━🐇━━🐇 As long as the rabbits could remember, the snow fell.
Of course, some seasons were worse than others. Tufts of grass could be had here or there, the chill of the pale green strands infinitesimally unimportant compared to the rabbits' happiness to simply eat. Predators killed a rabbit or two here or there, never enough to drive them from their snug warren. All in all, they were secure in their homes, eating grass and telling stories. Nothing could harm the warren, it seemed then. Not until they arrived. Odd creatures standing upright, clad in the bodies of the deer they had slain, faces sunken in the throes of desperate hunger, able to trick rabbits into cleverly set traps. So many were killed by these invaders that the warren chief - Warchief, to use their own word, led a desperate band of escapees across the tundra to find a new home. And they have found it. After a week of travel, the travellers have reached a suitable home (elaborated on below). Amazingly, the Warchief is still alive, as are about three-quarters of his followers. Now, it is up to him to organise the founding of the new warren. The rabbits are inexperienced, having been born long after the founding of the old warren. In a world stalked by dire wolves and smilodons, can the rabbits survive even a single year in their new home? 🐇━━🐇━━🐇━━🐇━━━━━SETTING━━━━━🐇━━🐇━━🐇━━🐇 The climate of what will one day become Grand Rapids, Michigan, is at this point a taiga. The temperature rarely ventures above freezing, and then only in the summer. Pine and larch trees stretch overhead, their shadows ominous to the rabbits. Moss is more common than groundcover such as grass and ferns, except around clearings such as the one the rabbits have settled in. Snow and rain are frequent. Warren
The warren is in a valley, surrounded by steep hills. The immediate surroundings are flat, with the closest hills being a day's journey to the east. To the west is the river, which often floods in spring (though the rabbits don't know this yet) about an hour's run from the warren. The main groundcover is a mixture of grass and moss. As of yet, the warren is in progress. Large rabbits have to sleep in the open, which is extremely dangerous. Edited at November 14, 2022 05:31 PM by Talen

Current Conditions 🐇━━━━━PLOT━━━━━🐇 The warren is under construction. There is currently one burrow. Sick rabbits shelter under a large fern. A pile of earth is visible near the warren's entrance. 🐇━━━━━TIME AND WEATHER━━━━━🐇 It is currently a lukewarm noon; though the calendar won't be invented for many generations, the inexorable mass of the world has currently rotated to a nameless spring. Midway through the season now, the temperature has begun to warm, and flowerbuds dot the clearing. It is drizzling, the night's storm starting to clear. The thunder is receding as the storm heads north. Winds are noticeable, but navigation is possible.
🐇━━━━━OTHER━━━━━🐇 There is a delicious-looking young shoot of sunflower near where Aspen was sleeping. To the east of the warren are bushes, some of which have berries. A bobcat was seen in that area, heading towards the river. Edited at December 9, 2022 05:26 PM by Talen

Frost | Warchief | Mentions: Oat, Flurry, Splash
Drip. Drip, drip. The feeling of the rain between the old buck's great ears roused him from his dream-memouries; Frost had been reminded of the old warren, when Splash was just a little kit coming above ground for the first time. It was with a pang that the rabbit stretched his legs and blinked open his hazel eyes; would that he could stay in the world of the past, when life had been easy! Alas, no. Frost was the Warchief; there was work to be done. Of course, the rabbit raised himself onto his white paws, nose and ears twitching as he absorbed the scents of the morning. It was dawn, but there was nothing unusual in that. Dawn was a good time for a rabbit, too early for hawks or wolves. Bobcats he would have to beware of, but...hopefully there were none around. There was no scent or sound of a predator on the wind, just the calming smells of grass and...something tastier. Something green and growing. Frost's paws scuffled with the desire to investigate, but he decided against it. Best to leave it to the others - it was important that they be happy and stress-free...as much as possible, anyway. We'll feel better once we have a burrow, Frost thought, glancing once at Splash to make sure she was safe before casually hopping towards Oat and Flurry. The buck knew excavating wasn't something he understood well at all, but he thought hearing their plans would be a good way to start the day.
Leaper | Warclaw | Mentions: Open!
Drip. Drip, drip. The young rabbit stretched, twitching sharply at the feeling of air against his whiskers. What in the world?! he thought, heart racing as he leapt to his paws, fighting the urge to stamp. That was right - they were sleeping out in the open, as they had been since they'd gone on this journey. Leaper's ears lowered, and he set to grooming his red-and-black face and hoping no one had noticed his startlement. As he finished waking up, the buck sat upright, sniffing and listening, but no threats reached his ears. That secured, he glanced around at the fellow members of his warren. Being a Warclaw was still new to him, and he was anxious to make a good impression on the rabbits he would be living with. That thought even outweighed the instinctive need to feed; he knew he had to impress the other rabbits.

Oat / Excavator / Mentions: Frost, Flurry
Oat raised her large head when their Warchief approached, short ears turning towards him. There was a few small scrapes around her and Flurry as they tried to find the best spot of a burrow. Something that wouldn't crumble and collapse around them, preferably. Oat glanced at the scrapes, almost embarrassed that they hadn't gotten more done before Frost had a chance to check on them. Dew and light rain drops gathered over her light brown and white fur, not yet penetrating her coat.

Flurry|3.4|Excavator|M: Frost, Oat Small droplets of water fell from the doe's fur as she scraped at the ground with Oat. Looking for a place to dig a burrow was more difficult than others would think. They needed to find an area that would be sturdy and not fall. Well, that was ideal. Flurry's ears turned as a rabbit approached. It was the Warcheif. Flurry looked at the scrapes, not having much done. The speckled doe sighed, wishing they'd gotten more done but knew that if they rushed, it would not be as thought out. She looked at the bright side though, at least they had something. Her brown eyes scanned the area as others were just waking up, ending back at Frost, wondering what he'd say. Edited at August 28, 2022 07:47 AM by River-Luna

Splash | Yearling | Mentions: Flurry, Open! The sound of rain splashing against the ground had woken Splash from her slumber. She looked around and noticed a couple of members of her warren still asleep, she shook her little tail and sat up. Wiggling her nose she looked for her father, Frost, she quickly spotted his deep cream fur over by Oat and Flurry. The young doe yawned and hopped over to the area her father resided. "Good morning father." Splash nuzzled her father's flank. Comforting yet something was still missing, maybe it was her mother or her brother. Splash frowned but quickly smiled again not wanting to bring any gloom to the warren. A small rumbling could be heard coming from Splash's stomach, she is hungry like most of the other bucks they had not eaten for quite some time. Splash ignored this, for now, trying to spend some time with her father. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Scruff | Denizen | Mentions: Open! The pitter-patter of light rain hitting the floor is what Scruff has been staring at for the past couple of minutes since he woke up. The small buck loves watching nature and the weather as well. Small droplets of water have been gathering on his multi-colored fur. Still not penetrating his thick coat of fur Scruff can still feel the weight the droplets of water have added. The small male began to clean away the water drops that sat on the uppermost of his coat. The water helped clean away any dirt that was on his thick fur. Scruff smiled and went back to watching the rain splash against the ground, some drops splashed on grass and some drops splashed on dirt either way Scruff loved watching it happen.

Aspen- Rival-Patrol leader Aspen looked at the sunflower, just starting to bloom. She was under a small tree to try to stay dry from the rain, when the flower was older it's seeds might make a food source... Or Aspen could just eat it now? no, she thought kits eat first anyways, it's better to let it grow so we can harvest from it . She licked her fur wondering when the rain would end she yawned and fell back asleep Edited at August 27, 2022 05:10 PM by Dawnforest
